Why the hell is Daryl leaving the Kingdom alone? I know he is going back to Hilltop to help them get ready for the war. But it's just not too smart for him to be out there with the Saviors foaming at the mouths looking for him. Barely a day or two after he escapes the clutches of Negan, he scurries away from the safety of the Kingdom. Not because the Kingdom is safe. But because the Saviors have no idea he was aware of the place. Will he make it to the Hilltop?

Probably because that's what the plot calls for lol But then again it's Daryl. He never listens!

I had that "Oh shit" feeling when I saw him walk out of the gates. Going to re-post some of what I put in the other thread and add to it a bit. I'm not agreeing about Daryl leaving prematurely like that, but, it's his nature. He never has sat back and let others do the work, even if it meant compromising his own safety. As he said to Rick after he took the gun and shot Dale, "No reason you should do all the heavy lifting." He just can't sit back, and in his view, I think he sees it that he is by just hiding out at the Kingdom. In fact for me, it'd have been OOC for him not to try to leave. I know it's been driving him nuts the entire time he's been there, I can feel it. I think perhaps, though, he would have stayed a little longer had he not gotten a taste of Richard's intentions on the road. Seeing Carol after that just solidified it for him. Carol's words to him about wanting to find a piece of herself for a little while, without having to kill anyone struck a chord with him. He knew then that in order for her to continue that, he'd have to lie to her and then join the fight himself. In addition, knowing what Richard's intentions were for her added to his sense of urgency to leave. Again, was it smart? No, but that's Daryl. I wouldn't expect anything else. He has had a different kind of taste of what the Saviors are about than anyone else, and if he can survive that, in his mind, he can survive anything. As I see it anyway. I of course, could be SLIGHTLY biased, but I tried to be objective there

You're right about Daryl not being able to sit back and let others do the work. But he did have a few things he could have accomplished while he was there. First of all of them, just stay alive by ensuring the Saviors don't find him. Then there is Carol. I get that he was protecting her emotional state at the time, so he didn't tell her about Abe and Glenn and the others. But why not wait a bit and just tell her later. She still needs to know. And he could have made an effort with Ezekiel since Morgan continues to be a waste of breath. But I guess that's not Daryl either. I'm sure he'll make it to the Hilltop just fine as it seems everyone on TWD always makes it to where ever they are going to on those country roads of the ZA.

I like this thread just for the title! That was how it seemed through the last few episodes. Instead of Waldo's striped shirt I look for a cross bow.
