So when we left Eugene, he was all in with Negan and the Saviors. Now Negan has declared war, and Eugene of course knows he means business with that, as he was along for the ride in the finale. I have not read the comics other than bits and pieces here or there, and definitely about this, so sorry to those who may know what happens I'm just mainly wondering, can Eugene every come back from this in the eyes of our group and ASZ? I'm hoping Sasha's words struck him in some way, she said she wasn't giving up on him. I feel as though that had to mean something to him. Was it enough to make him reconsider his joining the Saviors? At this point I'm saying no, because as he said, he's a coward. TBH, I'm still dealing with the fact that he really did betray the group like he did...

wickedjenИ this is the big question isn't it? Can Eugene come back from betraying his family? I struggle with this question to be honest. I kept holding out hope that Eugene was going to do something to help team family. I was just waiting for him to find a small bit of courage, but alas that did not happen. The look on Rick's face when Eugene said to Rick "I'm Negan". That was not so much anger I saw but more so disappointment, sadness and probably a helluva lot confusion, disbelief and shock. There stands Eugene ready to forsake all those who cared for him, all those who, even after knowing his lie about Washington, they still kept him safe and let him become part of the family. Not to mention he has now aligned himself with the person who murdered his friend, his brother. I just do not know what Eugene can do to come back from that (a little reminiscent of the conversation between Rick and Hershel season 4 when he tells Hershel about finding Clara in episode 1) And while Negan had given a great deal of trust to Eugene I see cracks in that developing after the death of Sasha. There is a seed of doubt there. You can see it in Negan's eyes when Eugene gives a reason as to how Sasha could have died. Eugene is no longer Negan's golden boy....Eugene is going to be watched closely. His "perks" may just go by the wayside as he is put to making bullets day in and day out. So, will Eugene then try to find a way back into the good graces of Rick and Co.? Will he forge an alliance with Dwight? The bullets he will no doubt be tasked at making....will he make them defective in some way? Will he somehow be able to make bullets on the sly for Rick and Co. that Dwight will delivery to them?

I think he's contantly reconsidering. There's no loyalty to anyone but his calculating self. Given a carefully evaluated chance he would most likely try and help Rick in some sly way. From the gang's perspective though, I wouldn't let him back in. He's made his bed.

I just don't understand why the writers took us on this 3 year Eugene journey just to erase it all. I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but it's hard.

I wasn't pleased when Negan took Eugene with him this past season. We had already gone through the whole Daryl captivity routine. Although this took a different route it wasn't necessary. I think they can bring Eugene back, but it feels a lot like season 3 Andrea at this point.

Nowhere near like Andrea and the Gov You don't think they are ruining Eugene? Not necessarily. Can't see much wrong about his current arc. Didn't think they were ruining Andrea either though. I never liked her in the first place.

She came into her own, became more independent and even stood up to Lori's BS in one episode. Then they left us off with that badass scene with her cutting down all of those walkers while escaping the farm it felt like she was coming into her own. What made her arc in Season 3 so bad for me is that I had such high expectations for her, and it was as if they forgot everything they did with her prior.

Given Eugene's character arc has been pretty consistently focused on both overcoming his cowardice and using his intelligence to offer something substantial to the group, I think we're gearing up for some Eugene heroics in the war.
Like most things in this show, it'll be dragged out to fuckery, but when Eugene does inevitably leave Negan, it'll be doing something noble: Liberating Negan's wives and the Saviors who don't want to follow Negan, setting some kind of trap for the Saviors to fall for, sabotaging something.

I actually saw season 2 before season 1 so I was surprised at the difference. I mean, she always had a spitfire nature but season 2 was more badass. I THOUGHT they were continuing with that at the beginning when Michonne was taking care of Badass Sick Andrea ......thennnnn NOPE. Lol
