First episode of this new Hulu series has been watched and I give it an "A"
Much hullabaloo has been made about this series so I went into it with a bit cautious skepticism. As a television series I thought the acting was spot on, the writing was good and direction flowed easily.
As a story standing on its own it is a great premise (of course derived from a book) and dystopian angst is all the rage these days, but personally speaking I was not as WOWED as I expected to be. Maybe because dystopian is all the rage and we have so much of it now on television that being wowed by this "concept" is becoming more difficult. Maybe the tv age of dystopia is becoming a bit passe'. I say that, yet we still are inundated with 796 medical tv dramas and 435 NCIS *insert city* series so becoming passe' is more likely quite a drawn out process rather than an overnight event. No worries you 238 dystopian series in the making, you still have time to claim your 15 minutes of fame!!
It is a very good show, just not the show that I will be waiting for each week with bated breath. This summer I am reserving my bated breaths for American Gods (I have to admit that my hopes are high for this one) and Preacher. And I am hoping that the third season of Fear the Walking Dead will prove itself worthy of garnering a bated breath or two.
