Episode 301- Open Waters
“When the gun is aimed, you never flinch. Never doubt your intent. And you never put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to kill your target. And when you are, whether it be dead or alive, you never hesitate. Understand?” Ronin instructed the 40+ people in the Shindas gym, all armed with empty guns. All of the people nodded. “Now, load your magazine in the gun” he ordered. All 40+ loaded their guns as he instructed. “You need to remember to shoot the head. We don’t need more walkers. We need dead enemies. Never leave a single head undamaged” The people nodded. Jun and Admiral Yamamoto watched from afar.
“Your man Ronin is doing a good job training these people for combat. Hopefully, they won’t ever have to use those guns against the living” Yamamoto told Jun, who sipped a cold beer. “If Norunaga and the Board are as ruthless as you say, we will need every single person who can hold a gun to fight for this ship” Yamamoto smiled. “This ship. You care about it now, Masumoto?” he asked with mild skepticism. Jun nodded. “I do” Yamamoto clamped a hand on the younger man’s shoulder. “That’s what I wanted to hear, to be frank. You are capable of doing more than mere run jobs. I think you are now capable of doing something more…intense. How would you feel about being second in command of the Shinda?”
Jun was taken aback. “M-me? Why me?” he asked.
Yamamoto smiled sadly. “You have dealt with the worst humanity can offer. You are ready to take on such duties head-on. I am fully aware you have other intentions, such as maybe having a family, but-” Jun stopped him. “Jae Eun and I have not even talked about kids yet!” he scoffed. “Maybe SOMEDAY. Who knows?” Yamamoto teased gruffly. “Think about it. I don’t want to rush you” he said, leaving Jun standing there watching Ronin instruct the people on how to use pistols.

In the mess hall, Sung-min and Akiko sat together, eating their lunch, giving each other slight smiles. “I don’t even want to imagine nursing school” teased Sung-min. Akiko laughed. “Cleaning up poop and urine from dying old people. It’s a blast. Beats the hell out of spy school….or whatever you did” she said nibbling on a potato covered in curry sauce. “Technically, I went to college for acting. Hell I even considered a career in rap. Things escalated between North Korea and my government. They then conscripted me after seeing me do a gig. It was all…clean cut” he said, chomping on a potato dramatically, making Akiko laugh even more.
“God, if you weren’t a sneaky bastard I would date you” teased Akiko. Sung-min made a sad face, his cheeks full of potato. “Am I not cute?” he playfully asked. Akiko smiled and kissed him on the cheek. At once a dozen military men cheered and whistled. They all became very quiet when a thin man approached Akiko and plopped next to her. Her face twisted in disgust. “Can I help you, my man?” asked Sung-min in a controlled friendly voice.
“Well, for starters, how about a kiss for me?” he asked, his breathe reeking of booze. Akiko shook her head. “Actually, we were leaving” she answered, standing up. A hand grabbed her buttock, followed with, “With assets like that, I don’t think you should go. Korean dogs like meat after all, heh” he rasped, sniffing her hair. Sung-min walked up to him and pried the man’s hand off her. A straight razor snapped in his face, with the alcohol smell filling his nostrils.
“And what were you planning next, hmm? You don’t know who I am? I am Bokune Haruo you dumb piece of shit!” Sung-min replied with zero fear, “Listen, anymore heroics and I will make you death look like a suicide. Wouldn’t want the ship knowing I beat your ass like the bitch you are, now would we, big man?” he asked, smiling. Bokune swung the razor at him, only to have his arm grabbed and his face slammed into the metal table. A hard fist smashed into the jaw next, sending bloody teeth flying onto the floor. Sung-min leaned down and whispered, “Now, if you ever touch her again, I will shove that razor into the smallest hole you have, and you won’t ever be able to piss normally. Understood?” Bokune grunted, and Sung-min took the razor. “Come on Akiko” he beckoned, with the woman following him as they left.

That night, Yamamoto awoke to find Takeshi pounding on his door. “What is going on Murano?!” demanded the sleepy Admiral. Takeshi panted, “There was a murder on the 4th deck!! Someone girl was disemboweled…god” Both he and Yamamoto ran to see the scene. Several people were crouched over the bloody body, a smile painted in blood. Her organs were neatly placed on the ground next to her, with an almost artistic essence to their placement. “Who was she?” asked Takeshi. Yamamoto sighed heavily. “Kakumi Ayumi. She was a singer…I remember her first day here, when the dead started to take over. Jesus Christ” he cupped a hand over his mouth to prevent himself from vomiting. The corpse soon awoke, her once striking blue eyes now grey. A black vein popped on her forehead, causing her front face to spider web with black blood. Takeshi walked over and pulling out his knife he stabbed her in the head. “Poor dear” he said quietly as he gently let the body slump to the floor.
================================
Yamamoto went into his office and sat down in his chair. Takeshi stormed into his office and leaned over the desk. “What the hell was that horseshit?” he asked. Yamamoto frowned in confusion. “Murano, it’s late and I have-” Takeshi interrupted, “You are the ship’s captain. You can’t just leave all sick to your stomach like a scared little bitch! You are our leader! Act like one you goddamn child!!!” he yelled, stomping out of the room. Yamamoto stood. “Murano! Wait…you were a detective…maybe you can solve whoever did this? Please, I have never had this kind of thing happen. Attempted rapes and assaults, but never actual murder. Please” he begged. Takeshi stood still, facing away from him, and simply replied, “I was fired from my detective job for being soft. Still, I will investigate. But not for your benefit, but for hers” he then left.
The next morning, he was pouring himself a cup of coffee in the mess hall, when a woman in her early 40s approached him. She was attractive, but the wrinkles showed her age. “Excuse me, but the coffee from that machine is never good. It always makes sludge” she warned. He smiled. “Thanks for the info. I don’t think we have ever met, have we?” he asked. The woman laughed in a light voice. “No, but I heard your argument with the Admiral…I was on my way to get another pillow from the storage room. Kind of hard for me to miss” she replied, catching the older man blushing slightly. “Yeah…my temper is terrible these days. Sorry you heard that” he sheepishly answered. The woman laughed again, and brushed his cheek with her hand. “You know, if you were a detective, I might invite you to have coffee with me. I like mysterious men, but you find out things about me” she teased with a laugh. Takeshi laughed himself. “What are you afraid I will find? The fact you are a beautiful woman? I knew that already!” he teased. The woman smiled, “What a terrible pick up line, but hey, I like a man who knows his own weaknesses. Name is Momoko Ichinose; I am the head nurse on board. What’s your name?” the man responded, “Takeshi Murano. I wouldn’t mind having you have coffee with me, miss” he invited, making Momoko grin as they sat down together.

Kasune tossed and turned in her bed, the sheets wrapping around her as the room become overly hot. She sat up in her bed, and sighed. A hand wrapped around her lower neck, followed with “Babe, what’s wrong?” Soo Yung sat up next to her, and pressed herself against Kasune’s back, kissing her neck. “Hun, I enjoyed last night, don’t get me wrong, especially now that we now have our own rooms” Kasune explained, “but…I don’t think we will work together as an item” Soo Yung stood, ignoring the fact she was completely undressed and angrily responded, “So what was I, a fling?!” Kasune slipped on a shirt and pinched Soo Yung’s chin. “I still think you are a very lovely woman. In this world you have to find that someone you connect with. But I think I would only end up breaking your heart” Soo Yung threw on a robe and opened the door to leave. “You already did that, you liar” she said fighting back tears as she left. Kasune sat back down and began to cry. “I wish I hadn’t said that” she muttered mournfully.
========================================
Takeshi examined the scene with a pocket magnifier, and a flashlight, examining a bloody footprint on the metal catwalk outside the room. The door led to a small porch like extension facing the vast ocean. Takeshi discovered a single piece of paper, marked, “Make a scene, then leave” he folded the paper and tucked it into his pocket, and stood. A man dressed in very expensive clothing approached him. “I am sorry SIR, but this area is for the more valued passengers. Clear out” he haughtily spoke down to Takeshi. Takeshi looked at the man as if he were from another planet. “Umm you do realize a woman was MURDERED here last night, right?” he asked. The man curled his nose. “And now my favorite spot was ruined. Damn” he turned to leave. “Excuse me! Maybe I could ask if you saw or heard anything. Did you?” Takeshi asked him. The man snubbed him, and replied, “No. And I am not about to be questioned by YOU”
Takeshi smiled. “So with the dead coming alive again, you still hold that foolish old world idea of superiority. Tell me then, since I am too stupid to understand, where would you be without this ship and her crew, hmm? Oh yeah, that’s right, DEAD” he waved the man out and closed the door. “Arrogant prick” he mumbled under his breath.

That night, Jun laid down beside Jae Eun, who curled next to him and kissed him on the cheek. He brushed the hair away from her eyes, and smiled. “Your highlights…you redid them” holding a deep purple lock of hair in his fingers. Jae Eun sighed. “Love, what’s on your mind? You always deflect whenever you are thinking about something else” Jun relaxed and stared at the white metal ceiling. “Jae, we could have a future here. We could make our lives on this boat. Maybe…we should consider children. What do you think?” he asked.
Jae Eun frowned playfully. “Jun Masumoto, we have been together for what, a month and 20 days? That’s a bit of a jump, don’t you think, my love?” she playfully scolded. Jun widened his eyes. “So no?” Jae Eun shook her head. “I want to be sure we are 100% safe. Even the smallest chance of danger is not enough for me. Right now, if all this wasn’t going on, my brother Glenn would be making fun of how tall you are, since we have a family gathering about now. Now…who knows what he is doing” she stifled a tear. “I love you Jun. I will always love you. But kids are not the thing we need in a world with the dead coming back. They would be in constant danger. I don’t want to have my baby risk being eaten. I WON’T RISK IT” she explained. She kissed him on the neck and laid beside him. Jun pulled the covers over his head and started to go to sleep. Jae Eun closed her eyes, hoping she was right.
=================================
In the room next to them, Haruna entered into Ronin’s quarters and dropped her robe. She crawled in bed next to him and curled a leg over his mid section. “Missed me?” she asked playfully. Ronin kissed her and replied, “Of course. I like having you with me” Haruna laid her head on his tattooed chest. “I am telling Jun tomorrow. I don’t think we can keep our…activities a secret much longer. Besides, I would feel much more relaxed with us being a public item” Ronin smiled, “Sounds like a plan to me” he said. He then wrapped his arm around her, and they both drifted to sleep.
==============================
The next morning, Sung-min entered the mess hall and found Akiko sitting stiffly in her seat. She looked at him with fear. “What’s wrong?” the Korean asked. A click snapped him to attention, and he saw out of the corner of his eye a gun pointed at his head. “Big guy isn’t so goddamn big, huh? What’s wrong? Scared?” Bokune mocked as a couple of other men laughed along with him. Akiko shook her head, tears constantly falling down her cheeks.
“See, when I kill you, I will make it look like you tried to kill me. And your girl, all ours. So really, you have no choice but to squeal like a pig” Sung-min turned and faced the thin man and smiled. He then burst into maniacal laughter. “You stupid assholes!” he said as he laughed. Bokune frowned. “The hell are you laughing for?!” he demanded. Sung-min stopped and coughed. “See, when I threatened you, I was thinking you were having a dick measuring contest with me, but now you made it very personal. You screwed up” he then wrenched the gun out of Bokune’s hand and threw the man onto the table.
He clamped the pistol on the back of his head and snarled angrily, “You stupid asshole! You thing you can threaten Akiko, threaten Jun threaten ME! Do you have any idea WHO THE HELL YOU ARE TALKING TO?!!!!!!” He was stopped from going further by Akiko, who gently brushed her hand on his, making him relax. He threw the gun away and brought his face close to Bokune’s terrified face. “If you ever pull that shit again, I don’t care if she is with me, I will end your life, and not give a damn I did. Get the hell out of my sight” he warned, throwing the man off the table. He looked at Akiko, who smiled shyly and nodded. Sung-min nodded also, and smiled faintly.

Yamamoto was on the bridge, when Takeshi approached him, with Shinji and Kojima in tow. “Admiral, I think one of the rich folks on board might have killed the singer” Takeshi commented. Yamamoto sipped on a glass of wine. “And?” he replied, making Takeshi had him a baggie. “This is what killed her: a steak knife. This knife was only found in rich homes due to the maker. So, this knife could have belonged to them. I umm, found it on the bottom deck on an alcove. The killer threw the knife away, and it landed there.” Yamamoto nodded. “Good work Detective” he said with a hint of gratitude. Suddenly, a midshipman shouted, “OH GOD SIR LOOK!” Yamamoto looked and saw an incredible sight. The sea in the eastern direction was entirely on fire, with walkers bobbing in the water, the flames licking up the flesh from atop their heads. Shinji dropped his training bokken (wooden training sword) and opened the door to the outer railing. The heat from the fire smacked him in the face, as the fire raged. A ship halfway sunk was enveloped in fire, with even more of the dead around the sinking hull. Yamamoto stared at the scene and barked, “Turn the ship 110 degrees! I don’t want the ship to get damaged from the heat!” the navigation officer nodded, and slowly the ship turned away from the fire. Shinji ran down to the lower deck, and saw a logbook floating in the ocean, sealed in a plastic bag. He fished it out and ran back the main deck, plopping the book on the main navigation table. “Look what I found! The ship’s log book!” he proclaimed. Yamamoto looked at Shinji with mild confusion. “Why did you go down there in the first place?” he asked. “I was seeing if any of the debris could tell us what happened” explained Shinji as he flipped through the book. He stopped. “Shit…it’s in English. I can’t read it” he said with mild panic. Yamamoto went for his radio and called into it: “Ronin, we need your help” Ronin on the other end responded, “Coming”
Ronin arrived a short time later and looked through the book. “Just how many languages do you know?!” asked Shinji. Ronin looked up and grinned. “6. Japanese, Korean, Russian, English, French & Mandarin. You learn these things when you are bored” he replied with slight sarcasm. He read a paragraph, and then stood. “The last entry was yesterday. It was the American oil tanker Harrington, and a ship attacked them around noon. The same ship, it says, that attacked other cruise ships and civilian boats. It doesn’t mention a name…but…a flag. A black flag with a red sun…”
Yamamoto’s face grew pale. “Son of a bitch he’s attacking other ships…” he mumbled. “Who is?” demanded both Shinji and Takeshi. Kojima stepped forward. “Are you certain it’s the Serizawa?” he asked. Ronin shot a look at the Admiral. “Your sister ship? Why would they attack other vessels?” he inquired. Yamamoto gulped and left in a hurry. Ronin, Shinji, Takeshi and Kojima followed after him. Yamamoto pulled out a satellite phone from his desk and dialed a number. “Damn….Norunaga disabled his phone…radio silence” he said in a defeated tone as he plopped in his leather chair. “So now they might come after us? After that assassin tried to kill you, and now this? Sounds like Norunaga is a rouge dog that needs to be put down” Shinji commented, receiving a startled look from Kojima. Ronin stepped forward. “Where is he? I can get aboard and take him out” he offered. Yamamoto chuckled. “So now you want to kill him? I don’t know where he is. Ever since the Board and the JOC became his masters, he went missing. At this point, we are blind, until he comes within range of our sensors”
Takeshi turned to leave. “I still haven’t found anything really solid relating to the murder. I will see if the neighbors heard anything. Maybe we-” his words were cut short by Jima running up to him, panting. “The 4th deck reports there are walkers in the living quarters!” he shouted. Yamamoto looked up and gasped, “Oh god, no…” Takeshi, Jima, Kojima, Ronin and Shinji then ran to help, leaving Yamamoto with his head in his hands.

NEW CAST: Captain Jinto Norunaga – Kengo Kora Mr. Fujiwara – Sadao Abe Genji Mamakomo – Mansai Nomura Elisa Harrgrow- Amanda Tapping Ēri- Lecca Summary: Mesuji boards the Serizawa, and things escalate.
Episode 302- New Plans
The Osprey landed and out stepped Mesuji and Hogun. A younger man dressed in a near perfect designer suit met them, with a company of armed soldiers to behind him. “Doctor Mesuji?” he asked. The doctor nodded and pointed to the men behind her. “These are my group members. They share the same sentiment as the JUC & the Board has” The man nodded with a smile. “That’s excellent news! I am Captain Norunaga. Welcome aboard the Serizawa, Miss” he greeted her. Mesuji bowed and said politely, “Thank you Captain. I believe we both have work to attend to?” The Captain led them to his office, a sparsely decorated shell with only a rising sun flag draped over the window adding color. Norunaga sat in his smooth black chair and pushed a folder in Mesuji’s direction. “This is your new job; research and development of the Antigen 003 serum. On board we have the best equipment and resources available. And…test subjects” he explained, keeping constant eye contact on the woman. Mesuji feigned shock. “This is rather sudden, don’t you think?” she asked. Hogun blurted out, “What is your end goal in all of this?” Norunaga smiled faintly. “I like your keeper here believe in a more powerful Japan. One similar to Hirohito’s vision of a dominant power. The dead are the minor setback in this quest, but with Mesuji’s serum, we can be immune, and thus become pure. Simple, no?” he posed to the larger man. Mesuji leaned back in her chair, running her hand down Hogun’s arm. “Norunaga and I have a history. Trust me; we are on the same page. Now, what was this you said about test subjects?” Norunaga handed her another folder. “This is a manifest of everyone who refused to become sympathetic to our beliefs. Koreans, Americans, Chinese, half breeds, anyone who was not pure blooded Japanese” Hogun again piped up. “Forgive me, but you’re talking about eugenics?” receiving a nod from Mesuji. Mesuji smiled and handed the folder to the Captain. “And what about ships loyal to our cause?” she asked. The Captain smiled widely. “4 other naval vessels are on our side, with Yamamoto being the only Naval commander not adhering to the Board’s wishes” Norunaga said bitterly, biting his lip. “Of course, Yamamoto felt it was morally right to rescue any and all that needed sanctuary from the infected. Now he has the only group that has proven effective against the dead under his wing. As well as a large number of experienced officers and soldiers” Mesuji brushed a delicate hand across he leg. “When the time comes, he will be a footnote in the history of the new Showa period of Japan” she said with total confidence. Later that night, Norunaga knocked on Mesuji’s door and was greeted by the doctor, wrapped in a towel, apparently after having taken a shower. “What do you need, Captain?” she asked. The Captain entered and sat on her bed. “The men your…Reborn mentioned. They are a dangerous group?” he asked. Mesuji nodded. “I know of a few of them. They were a mix of workers and test subjects. I guess they adapted quicker than the rest of the population” Norunaga frowned and shot her a look. “Are they going to be a cause for concern?” he asked with mild worry in his voice. Mesuji laughed and sat beside him. “Not at all. They may have the largest ship, but we have more men at our disposal. We will be fine” she assured him. Norunaga ran a finger down her neck, and smiled, “I have missed you Keiko…ever since you took the Tokyo job, I had wondered if you had been killed. The riots, firebombing, the infected, it would have taken a miracle to come out of that alive and well. Now that you are here…I can sleep finally” He cupped her chin and kissed her gently. She embraced the kiss and wrapped her arm around him. He looked at her and sighed. “I can only imagine what you had to do to survive out there” he whispered. Mesuji for once in her life felt sadness, and replied, “No you can’t, my love” He unbutton hi shirt and she opened her robe, as the two embraced once again. Outside, Hogun walked by the door, and heard the moaning and creaking, scrunching his face in anger. =============================== The next morning Mesuji was on the main deck, admiring the large guns on the battleship, when a familiar face greeted her. A portly man with a somewhat balding head wearing small round glasses approached her. She knew exactly who it was. “Mr. Fujiwara! How good to see you well these days!” she greeted feigning friendliness. The man grunted angrily and handed her a document. She read and grinned. “So I am now officially pardoned by the Board? And what, may I ask warranted this?” she asked. Fujiwara’s face grew even redder, and he wiped a bead of sweat dribbling down his cheek. “I did not approve of this action. I know you, Dr. Mesuji. I know what kind of monster you really are, and despite what the Board says, you are more of a danger to the Board and the JOC’s interests” Mesuji smiled and run her hand across his face, wiping off the sweat onto his suit. “And if they would know about what I did? What would happen? Throw me overboard?” she asked with an almost threatening demeanor. Fujiwara backed away slightly and gripped the railing tightly. “Don’t think you can threaten me!” he puffed in a panic. Mesuji opened the nearby deck door and opened it. “Who said I was threatening?” she sweetly questioned, leaving the man on the deck, sweating even more. ========================================= Fujiwara returned to his quarters, taking off his blazer and unbuttoning his shirt, soaked with sweat. He always had a knack for sweating constantly, and this summer heat was making his sweat go into overdrive. He wiped his brow, and noticed the small note on the dresser. He hadn’t placed it... He walked over and picked it up, reading the red letters: “Honor is long dead, but I must abide by the old laws for the betterment of Japan” He turned and found that both Hogun and Mesuji entered his room, with the man clamping a hand over his mouth, and the doctor pulling out a large Tanto. Mesuji placed a finger over her red ruby lips and ripped open his aqua shirt. She ran a finger over his distended belly, and said softly, “I think you, having more honor, should die with honor, don’t you think?” she said, looking at Hogun, who replied, “It’s the only way to honor the rebirth of Japan” Mesuji sank the blade deep into the man’s belly, and slid it across, spilling guts, fat and blood all over the floor. Fujiwara screamed, but the hand covering his mouth made it barely audible. After a few seconds, his eyes rolled into his head, and he slumped in Hogun’s arms. Mesuji placed the blade in his hands, which were beginning to tighten due to rigor. They then both left, without anyone seeing them. ===================================== That night, Mesuji and Norunaga awoke to find an airmen knocking on the door, a stern look across his face. “Forgive me Captain, but…Mr. Fujiwara committed seppuku tonight. His body was found disemboweled with a note by the body. We believe it was due to the argument he had with the Board concerning our tests” he explained. Norunaga cleared his throat and cocked his head. “Was he put down?” he asked, receiving a nod from the airman. “Then dispose of him. I would rather we dump him overboard than have to deal with his fat corpse” he ordered, closing the door. Mesuji, wrapped in a sheet innocently asked, “Why would he kill himself? He was safe here, wasn’t he?” Norunaga smiled wryly. “I think you know why he is dead. Don’t worry I hated the fat bastard more than anyone on board. Still, I think keeping his death quiet would be wise. Now that he is dead, we can begin the experiments in earnest. And…” he trailed off kissing her, “The JOC has no other enemies besides Yamamoto” Mesuji asked, “How did you find out?” and was answered with, “I have known you for ten years, Keiko. You can’t hide anything from me anymore. And besides, he was the only one to vote against your arrival here. He may have been popular with the people, but here, we wished him dead every day” Mesuji sighed in relief. “Thank you for covering for me, Jinto” she said. Norunaga winked, “Anything for you, Keiko my dear” he whispered. That following day, Norunaga brought Mesuji with him to the meeting. She had never met the Board, since they were a very secretive group who preferred choosing their own members. The two sat down, with the other dozen or so Board members sitting in a circle with the head of the Board, a younger man named Genji Mamakomo being the head. He was dressed to the letter, a rich grey suit with a sword tied to his hip. The other members, consisting of the former Ministers of health, agriculture, & any surviving political party candidates were all dressed in whatever nicer clothing they had with them, all sternly observing her as she entered the room. Mesuji smiled and stood, bowing to the Board, with a single head bow received in turn for the other members. She opened a file, and began with: “Members of the Board. I, Doctor Keiko Mesuji bring to your attention a semi-working sample of the mark 2 IHV Antigen. This serum had, in trial runs, an almost 75% efficiency rate, but still was incomplete due to my lab being overrun with the infected. With additional refinement, we can make this the cure humanity so desperately needs. We, of course, would need your stamp of approval to go ahead with the improvement of this serum. I would require the following 3: a lab with a fully stocked inventory, a handful of fresh walkers for research purposes, and finally, subjects who could test the effectiveness of the serum” One Board member, a large man with a full grey beard took off his glasses and leaned forward. “Doctor, I must ask, how many people who you require to have as the perfect sample size? The survivors out there are far less in number than the dead who have infested our country, and we would also need to consider the possible people sympathetic to our cause…” another member piped up, “There is the colony of tourists near Jeju island we could use for our purposes. The Korean government is in shambles, making our grab an easy one. It would be bloodless…offer them safety and instead, they save Japan” Genji stood and pointed to Mesuji. “Whatever we should do is in your hands. What is your suggestion, doctor?” he asked. Mesuji smiled. ================================================== The colony that was referenced was a small island which was formerly a lover’s hot spot was now turned into a community with around 30 people inhabiting it. They had no defenses, save for a handful of fighters mostly used to fighting off the dead whenever they went to the Korean mainland for supplies. The osprey and a landing craft landed, with the newly integrated Reborn and JOC soldiers pouring out, armed with assault rifles and shields. Hogun stepped out of the Osprey and was approached by the head of the colony, a small American woman with red hair. “MY name is Elisa Harrgrow. What can I do for you, and what do you want?” she asked in English. Hogun grinned, and in simple English replied, “To take your people” He then stabbed her in the neck, and watched as her neck gushed dark blood as the woman’s eyes grew wide with shock. He took a handful of blood, and drank deeply. He then waved to the Reborn and JOC, who gunned down the armed members, and took the unarmed survivors, herding them into the osprey by force.. An old man hobbled towards them, with a single soldier raising his rifle. Hogun took the rifle, and shouted “Old fool!” as he slammed the butt of the rifle into the man’s face, repeatedly smashing it in his face, crushing it. One survivor screamed in horror, “You are supposed to help us!” with Hogun responding in a blood soaked laugh, “Who said anything about helping you?” as he climbed into the landing craft. ========================= The survivors were placed in a large cargo deck, with armed JOC guards keeping a close eye on them. Every 4 hours, 2 people were taken for experimentation and those who fought back were shot and thrown overboard. Mesuji synthesized a new batch of Mark 3 Antigen, and prepared a needle full, this time the liquid being a pale orange. The newest test subject was a Chinese child no older than 5. She wiped down the arm of the child who began to babble in Mandarin tearfully. The liquid was shunted in the child’s arm, and the child was shoved away back into the holding area. So far no one had died from the serum, with only one subject, a large German man feeling ill effects, being a fever and vomiting. Mesuji walked up the holding room door, and pointed to the German man, who was brought before her. His eyes were growing redder, and his pulse was so rapid he was near coronary levels of stress. He begged her to be let go in German, but Mesuji injected him instead with a clear solution. His eyes quickly rolled back into his head, and he collapsed. She ordered him to be placed in restraints, and she watched as he turned. She stared at the walker for a moment, before taking a bone-cutter and slicing off his skull cap. She then waved at two nurses who began to collect brain tissues samples. She leaned against the wall and sighed heavily. Norunaga approached her and brushed her hair. “How go the tests?” he asked cheerfully. Mesuji smiled in a tired way as she looked at her notepad. “Nothing yet…I though this serum would be the one. I wish we had SOME progress…” suddenly a nurse ran up to her. “Another subject failed to survive” Mesuji snapped to attention. “Place the body in isolation. We have as long as 72 hours before the body turns. Remember, we need to see if the serum stops reanimation, so don’t kill it even if it does turn” she ordered, as they ran to fetch the body. ====================================== Mesuji stared at the body for hours, impatiently waiting for the inevitable turn, when Norunaga came up behind her, running his hand down her hips. “Come, let’s get some sleep. If the corpse turns, you will be informed” Mesuji turned and smiled tiredly. “I am just so close to having a working cure, my love. I can’t simply leave it alone” she said, her voice heavy with exhaustion. Norunaga sighed and kissed her on her forehead. “Why did you not tell me you were going to Tokyo to run trials on the IHV Antigen?” he asked, making Mesuji stop and look at her feet. “I…I didn’t want to give you an answer to your proposal. You spent so much on a ring, and I wasn’t putting effort in the relationship. I felt like I was anchoring you down. And that’s the last thing I could ever want to happen…” she felt a tear roll down her cheek, something that was alien to her mostly cold & hard exterior. “Keiko, you were never the anchor. If anything, even in all this horror & death, you were the thing keeping me alive, even when the government collapsed and people were dying on the streets” Mesuji began to cry even harder, as Norugana embraced her, allowing her to pour her emotions that had been bottled up out. Mesuji looked up towards the man’s face and brushed his face with the back of her hand. “I should have said yes…” she whispered faintly. ========================================== Hogun arrived at the mess hall, & saw as the other soldiers and crew avoid eye contact with him as he sat by himself. He looked at the other 6 Reborn that had followed him, and nodded, noticing the others fidgeting. He sat up and walked over to them, observing their discomfort. “What is on your minds?” he asked point blankly. One Reborn stabbed a piece of beef with his knife and stared at it, angrily stating, “We are rotting aboard this infidel laden boat! We should be doing Izanami’s will!” Hogun slapped the knife out of his hand and growled, “We do as Mesuji tells us. And also, keep in mind; we are the true believers, not those cowards that joined out of self preservation and ended up dead. So, at the end of the day, we are winning” One Reborn, an attractive woman named Ēri piped up, “And if she gets us killed?” Hogun smiled slightly, “The only ones dying are those who rebel against the will of the Goddess” ============================================ 71 hours and 58 minutes passed, and Mesuji watched the corpse, which was now a dull grey still not turn. Still, she could turn in mere seconds, ruining the entire experiment. A scientist approached her, and nervously asked, “Dr. Mesuji, if the corpse does not turn, is it a success?” Mesuji nodded. “The longest time recorded across the scientific community was 72 hours. And…we have 1 minute left” she said as she pointed to the clock. The hand ticked slowly forward, as they both waited. The electronic clock was killing her patience, but she saw the time eventually pass. 10 seconds, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2… Her breath was held anxiously. 1. 72 hours had passed, and the corpse had not turned. She waited a few extra seconds, but still, no movement. Mesuji went into the room and checked the pupils, and saw no response. No movement in the chest. Nothing. Mesuji felt ecstatic. This had been the only case of a death associated with the serum, and the other 9 people had no ill effects thus far. Norunaga entered the room, and saw the look of glee spread across Mesuji’s face. “Jinto…It worked” she breathed excitedly. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: As Walkers invade the lower decks of the Shinda, tensions rise and more complicated occurrences pop up.

NEW CAST: CSI Noda Tanyu - Yuta Hiraoka Assassin – Fumino Kimura Nurse- Sachika Kamura
Summary: As Walkers invade the lower decks of the Shinda, tensions rise and more complicated occurrences pop up.
Episode 303: Infiltration
Jun heard the chaos also, and ran to see what was happening. Shinji and Kojima followed behind him and they arrived at the 4th deck’s main living quarters. A scream followed by multiple gunshots alerted them to the danger: the entire room was crawling with walkers. Around 10-12 walkers slunk out of living quarter doors, their mouths covered in blood. Jun, using his knife, stabbed one in the eye, while another behind him was shot by Shinji. Kojima, Takeshi and Sung-min each took a walker in their sights, each killing one after another. One walker, a young girl, snarled and lunged at Shinji. Shinji sidestepped, and in one smooth motion brought his gun up and fired it, sending brain matter spraying across the floor. Snarls from behind another door were heard, and both Jun and Takeshi raised their guns, as Sung-min opened the door. Instantly, 3 walkers sprung out, only to end up getting shot squarely in the head by the two men, with a final walker grabbing Sung-min. Sung-min fought to get the walker off him, and eventually felt the walker being ripped off him, seeing to his surprise that Yamamoto had followed the group down there. The Admiral threw the walker against the wall and placing his Glock under the walkers chin pulled the trigger, sending a mist of black blood spraying up and in the air. As the walker fell to the ground, Yamamoto extended a hand and helped the Korean up. Takeshi looked with mild shock at the Admiral and commented, “Guess you aren’t a little bitch after all” ======================================== The group examined the walkers, and noticed that 4 of the bodies were previously killed before the room became infested. A CSI from Kyoto named Noda Tanyu, a handsome man with slender features was examining the bodies alongside Takeshi. Noda pointed to the throat of one body. “Look! Her throat was slit! Walkers didn’t do this” with Takeshi adding, “I wonder why she wasn’t disemboweled...” Noda frowned. “You think this is related to the girl from earlier?” Takeshi nodded. “I do. Except they, whoever they are, waited until these people turned, killing the other 9 people in this section. It was a walker death trap. It’s also possible it’s the same killer, since I doubt there would be two killers on board, since they would attract too much attention” Noda grinned sheepishly, “I thought I was the crime solver, being a CSI after all” he jokingly complained, causing Takeshi to chuckle. A blood trail of old dried blood led to the large port window in one room, which could be pried open. After peeking through the window, Takeshi noticed a small trail of blood droplets leading from a thin walkway to a small door. Noda and Takeshi went to check out the room, and found a keypad locking the door. Takeshi grabbed his radio. “Yamamoto, this is Murano. There is a storage door on the 4th level with a keypad. Do you happen to know the code?” there was a short pause, followed by “What keypad? Every door either has a keycard or biometric reader, as your group being given cards should know” Takeshi clicked the radio off and looked at the keypad, popping off the sliver plastic cover and examining the wires. “This was custom installed. Someone with technical knowledge must have put this in and not informed anyone” Takeshi pondered. Noda cocked his head. “But wouldn’t people ask about this?” Takeshi shook his head in response, “Doubtful. This room is rarely used from what the neighboring living quarter blocks have told me. So it’s very possible this was ignored. I will ask around to see if anyone here has any technical knowhow. Maybe we can hack this thing and see what’s on the other side. ============================================== That evening, Takeshi was walking towards his quarters after an unsuccessful attempt from a former computer technician to open the door. It was too heavily encoded, and the door was too close to living quarters to blow up, so after around 4-5 hours, they were still stuck. He wiped his brow, and began to look forward to his bottle of ice cold Kuroi Nama beer, when a woman in her 30s approached him, handing him a letter. “Mr. Murano? I think you dropped this” she said, smiling the entire time. Takeshi bowed slightly and took the letter, opening it. Inside was an ornate parchment paper, with the words “You went too far” written in the middle. He looked up with wide eyes, and suddenly felt a sharp pain in his mid section. He looked down to see a knife shoved in his gut, and collapsed. The woman withdrew the blade and stepped over his body. Jima had stepped out to see what was going on, when the woman slashed his arm in an attempt to escape. Jima screamed in his radio, “THE KILLER IS ON THE SECOND DECK! SHE IS TRYING TO ESCAPE! TAKESHI NEEDS MEDICAL ASSISTANCE!!” The woman ran, wildly slashing and cutting at anyone who crossed in front of her. A soldier stepped in front of her, but was stabbed in the eye, dropping him. She took the gun off him and kept running. She ripped off her clothing to reveal a diving suit as she made her way on the flight deck and bolted towards the water. She was almost there, when a shot range through the air. She felt a sharp pain pierce her side, as a gunshot ripped through her hip. She collapsed on the rough tarmac, and looked up to see Soo Yung walk up to her, a pistol in her hands aimed at her. The woman reached for the pistol she took, but a quick blow to the face from Soo Yung’s pistol knocked her into a state of dizziness. Several airmen approached, weapons at the ready. Jun, who had heard the noise, ran over to the woman and drew his pistol at the ready. “You killed those people?!” he demanded. The woman laughed and tried to bite down hard, only to have a gun shoved in, preventing her from biting down. A crack on the head from Jun finally knocked her out cold, as she was dragged to the infirmary. The woman awoke that night tied to the bed, with her jaw hurting. “Hurts like a bitch, huh?” a voice asked her. She looked over to see Yamamoto in the chair next to her. She struggled hard, but eventually gave up, relaxing and laughing to herself. “So the great Admiral Yamamoto is here to get the hard facts? You aren’t going to get them, I’m afraid. I and the Board would have never allowed you to go as far as you did, if it hadn’t been for you cutting communications with us” she proclaimed proudly. Yamamoto stood and gently lifted her shirt to reveal her wound. “You were hit very badly. But, with the help of Ms. Masumoto, you will live. But that doesn’t mean it would be painful” he said. He then took a lit cigarette and pressed it against her wound. She attempted to scream, but Yamamoto quickly shoved a wad of cotton in her mouth, muffling the sound. He leaned over her and demanded, “You murdered those people you BITCH! The singer, those 4 people, and the people the walkers killed. That’s a total of 14 people. WHY?!” The woman laughed, making Yamamoto snarl in anger and punch her wound. She screamed, and Haruna rushed in, only to have Yamamoto shout, “LEAVE! I am saving my goddamn ship!”, making Haruna hurry out in tears. He leaned over and whispered, “I have an idea. I could take one of the walkers from the mainland, and allow it to have a snack. Bite by bite, it would remove a limb. Until all that is left is your head. And if you think my kindness extends to snakes like you, well you are-” he was interrupted by the woman butting in with: “I am a plant for the Serizawa! I was sent here to gather info, then jump overboard. I would have been picked up by the Serizawa and then…you would be out of commission” Yamamoto rubbed his chin angrily. “And the people you killed? What did they do?” he asked, his voice dripping with seething rage. “They found out about my mission. And I figured having a random serial killer aboard would be more distracting than a rouge crew member simply disappearing” Yamamoto held up a flash-drive. “This was found on your person, in a waterproof case. I already had the files extracted, and found coordinates. OUR coordinates. You really think Norunaga can kill all of us? He is a fool” The woman coughed up blood, and replied, “He has the Board on the Serizawa too, and his new pet. I have been in communication ever since I came aboard. So I am well versed in the ongoing news over there” Yamamoto raised an eyebrow. “So those communications were somehow blocked from us?” The woman nodded. Yamamoto pocketed the drive and prepared to leave the room, when the woman spoke up, saying, “The code for the room is 5698” “Why tell me?” asked Yamamoto. The woman replied, “You are going to die anyways. Not much that can avoid that. So why not allow you some hope?” ============================================= Jun, meanwhile was visiting a resting Takeshi who angrily threw an empty fruit cup across the room. “I should have seen it coming Jun! I was too slow, and this happened. All my fault” he rumbled. Jun walked over and picked the cup up. “Listen old man, no one could have seen that coming. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Otherwise I will have to lock you in your room” he teased. Takeshi smiled. “Punk ass kid” he grunted with a laugh. Jun left the room just as Yamamoto left the prisoner’s room. “What did you find out?” asked Jun. “Nothing really. Apparently, the Serizawa is hunting us. And they intend on killing all of us” The Admiral admitted. Jun shrugged, “We knew that. Maybe we could ping their location and get away. Give us more time to weigh our options” he suggested, receiving a nod from the older man. Soo Yung meanwhile went in and visited Takeshi, who was struggling to open his juice box. She snatched the box from his hands and poked the hole in the box, handing the box over to him. Takeshi grinned, “I am old, not useless” he joked, causing both of them to chuckle. Soo Yung ran her hand down his arm and said, “I am glad you will recover. To us, you are the father figure we need. Jun might be out leader, but you are our dad, almost. I wish, seeing the way you act, you had been there as my father” Takeshi smiled warmly. “You are a sweet girl, making my old grumpy heart warm again. Hell, I would be lying if I claimed to never think of you all as my adopted kids” he confessed. Momoko then entered, smiling at the two of them. “I have my UNWILLING patient here, so if you could have a seat while I check his dressing” she politely told Soo Yung as she set her tray down. Takeshi looked at Momoko, then back at Soo Yung, and cheekily winked. ==================================== On the Serizawa, Norunaga was alerted by a JOC airman that same night. He was handed a document with coordinates marked on a map. Mesuji sleepily walked up to him and looked at the document. “What is that?” she asked, yawning. Norunaga grinned, “This is the location of an ordinance dock loaded with explosive shells. The shells we used to have were used for…removing certain ships that posed a threat to us. Now, with these higher explosive yield shells, not even the armor on the Shinda can withstand the inevitable” he replied, garnering a smiled from Mesuji. “Are there people there?” she asked. Norunaga nodded and answered, “If there is, they better not stand in our way” The next morning, Norunaga himself along with 20+ JOC soldiers landed on the island, which was once a bustling naval base that was now a ghost town. Several walkers slunk around the base, with no signs of life. Norunaga, with his sword draw cut down a handful walkers approaching him, and then noticed the ordinance building left virtually untouched. He and the JOC soldiers entered and found the stockpiled ammunition. He turned and ordered: “Load this up and take it to the ship boys. We have what we were looking for!” While loading the shells onto the ship, Norunaga was greeted by Hogun who approached him and extended his hand. “What’s with the friendliness?” the Captain asked. Hogun looked down at his hand and replied, “I feel as if you and Keiko are the only people who can lead us. Maybe I was, in the past, too untrusting” Norunaga smiled ever so slightly and took his hand, shaking it. A yell was heard, and the two men rushed over to see the commotion. A JOC soldier was holding a female nurse at gunpoint, with a pistol on the ground beside her. “SIR! She was hiding in the utility shed when we found her. She drew her weapon on us. What should we do?” the soldier asked. Norunaga looked towards Hogun and responded: “I will, as an experiment, allow my friend here to decide” Hogun walked up to the woman and brushed the hair away from her face. “Take her aboard” he forced a smile and told Norunaga, “Like you said, the more people who are on our side, the more powerful Japan becomes later on” causing the Captain to stare in shock. Back on the Serizawa, the shells were loaded via osprey into the gun turret ammo cache, and Norunaga oversaw the operation. He lost count how many ships he had sunk, including the Korean oil tanker that stood in his way. But now, he had the resources to at the very least scare Yamamoto into surrendering. Mesuji came behind him and hugged his back, whispering, “Have some new toys, huh babe?” Norunaga turned and kissed the top of her head. “Yes, and we have finally pinged their location. Approximately 120 miles south-west from here. We can catch up to them in mere days, instead of wandering around looking for Shinda. And with these shells, they will listen to us more…earnestly” he explained, while looking at a bit of her amber hair between his fingertips. Mesuji looked up at him and replied, “There is one aboard I want to deal with myself. A former Yakuza member named Ronin” Norunaga chuckled. “Masterless Samurai? Bit dramatic for a name, huh?” he mockingly questioned. Mesuji ran her finger down his suit and asked seductively, “I think we are done here. Maybe…after all the work you’ve done you need to relax, no?” The man grinned and replied, “I think you are right” ======================================= Back on the Shinda, Yamamoto sat in his office, shooting down shots of whatever alcohol was nearest to him, and barely heard the knock on his door. He grunted, and the door opened, with Jae Eun stepping inside. She sat across from him and took the nearly empty bottle of Billie Runner whiskey. “You should relax with the drinking Admiral” she suggested “because what use is a drunken leader?” Yamamoto snatched the bottle out of her hands and chugged the rest down, coughing afterwards. “I can’t keep it quiet…I can’t anymore” he drunkenly bemoaned. Jae Eun leaned forward, a confused and puzzled look on her face. “Keep what quiet? What are you keeping from us?” she asked him, noticing his look of utter defeat. The Admiral grabbed a bottle of Hokkaido rum and cracked the top off. “As a Naval officer, I was trained to never (burp) never show fear. But we can’t always win. This is a situation we can’t win. I…am considering maybe it would be better for all of us if I gave myself up to Norunaga and the Board. Maybe, you could escape and find better fortune out on the open ocean” he mournfully explained. Jae Eun sat in stunned silence. “I don’t want to have all of my crew killed because of my arrogance. I can’t allow that to happen” Jae Eun leaned in close and replied, “Who would pick you up? Captain Norunaga himself?” she asked. Yamamoto nodded, “He is arrogant enough to want to savor the moment. So yes, he would” Jae Eun smiled coyly. “What if during the tradeoff we killed him? What would happen then?” she posed to Yamamoto, who frowned. “NO! Killing Jinto would result in the Board doubling their efforts. It would be a suicide mission at best, and a slaughter at worst” he drunkenly explained, dropping the bottle onto the floor. The Korean approached his chair and picked up the bottle. “We take him hostage then. And then force the Board to give up chase. It would cripple their naval strategy and leave them lost and confused. And as for his soldiers…well in war there are ALWAYS causalities, am I wrong? “ The Admiral smiled broadly. “Damn…smart and beautiful. No wonder Jun has you” he complimented. He stood and attempted to shake off his drunken stupor. Jae Eun heard Jun and Kojima enter the room, and told them, “We have a plan to get out of this mess!” ================================== Takeshi toyed with his applesauce cup and spoon, bored with his surroundings already. Momoko entered his room and smiled sweetly. “How is my favorite grumpy patient?” she teasingly asked. Takeshi snorted, “Grumpy? More like not happy about being cooped up here for an entire day” he complained. Momoko sat beside him and opened the applesauce cup and scooped up a spoonful of the sauce. “Eat” she ordered playfully, making the older man take a nibble. Takeshi then saw Ronin enter the room where the assassin was being treated. “What is he up to?” wondered Momoko. Takeshi looked at her and replied grimly, “I hope for her sake, she has what he wants” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: A member makes a fatal mistake, and tensions grow aboard the Shinda.

NEW CAST: Momoko Ichinose - Shinobu Terajima Assassin – Fumino Kimura
Summary: A member makes a fatal mistake, and tensions grow aboard the Shinda.
Episode 304 – Kuroi
Ronin entered the room and sat down across from the assassin, who heard the door jostling and shot up. “Oh…the Yakuza dog. So did Yamamoto send you to torture me?” she cynically demanded. Ronin walked up to her and held her down, grabbing the front of her hospital gown. The assassin smirked, “I see you want something more, huh?” she asked, making Ronin angrily rip the gown too reveal a tattoo of a dragon being eaten by a demonic lion. He shot a look at her and demanded, “How did you get this tattoo? How did you get the Yokoshi family mark?!” The Assassin grinned. “Not everyone in that tree is dead. How else do you think I came aboard? Being an assassin is nothing without the art of stealth” Ronin backed away and sat down, confused and horrified. “You…you should have never come aboard…” he murmured, shaking visibly. The assassin smiled vindictively, and replied, “Now what? Now that you know I am Yakuza like you, and from your tree, what is your next course of action?” Ronin stood and yanked the pillow out from under her head, and in one swift motion shoved it against her mouth, closing his eyes as she struggled to fight him off. She eventually stopped, and slumped in her bed. He threw the pillow aside and unsheathing his knife stabbed her in the eye, preventing reanimation. He turned and faced the door, seeing Haruna standing there in horror. He dropped the knife and hung his head in shame. “I…I don’t know what came over me, Haruna…I just had to…” he started to say. Haruna backed away and closed the door, running out of the infirmary crying. Ronin stepped outside the room and went into Takeshi’s. Takeshi sat up and demanded angrily, “What the hell did you do?!” Ronin sat down and buried his face in his hands. “I…killed the assassin in the other room” he admitted. Takeshi balked and did a double take. “YOU WHAT?!” he asked, not believing what he had just heard. “I killed her. She…was a former member of another Yakuza family. One of the assassins they used for various jobs. I…was at war with that family for a number of years” Ronin explained. Takeshi thrust a finger in his direction. “That doesn’t mean SHIT! Old family grudges are moot, now that the dead are coming back. What in the hell were you thinking just then? Ronin…Yamamoto could KILL you for that! Or in the best case scenario, throw you overboard! You just screwed yourself!” the older man nearly shouted. Ronin stood abruptly and sighed heavily. “Haruna saw it all, too” he added. Takeshi shrugged. “So? What does that have to do with anything?” He asked visibly frustrated. Ronin straightened his vest and confessed: “Haruna and I are in a sexual relationship, Takeshi” Takeshi covered his mouth, trying not to laugh in shock. “YOU ARE WHAT?!!” =============================================== Haruna ran into her quarters and could not stop sobbing. Kasune entered the room and sat beside her. “Ms. Masumoto, what is wrong?” she asked, giving her a slight side hug. Haruna gulped air, in an attempt to calm herself down. “I-I-I s-s-s-saw Ronin…” she then began to cry even harder. Kasune brushed the hair away from Haruna’s face and soothingly rocked her, as Haruna turned and sobbed into Kasune’s shoulder. ====================================== Yamamoto sat in front of Ronin, and swirled the amber liquid in his crystal tumbler. “You…JUST killed her? Just like that?” he asked, almost not understanding what happened. Ronin nodded. “Yes…It was not accidental. I KILLED HER, ADMIRAL” he admitted. Yamamoto shot down the alcohol and began to toy with a small tank replica in his hands. “I don’t know what I should do to you now. Throwing you overboard would go over terribly. And killing you…out of the question. So…what should I do?” he posed to the other man, whose guilt ridden face was hidden behind a hand. Ronin straightened himself. “I would not know…maybe imprisonment?” he suggested. Yamamoto raised an eyebrow. “You have to understand how goddamn weird it is to hear you say these things, right? But…I think until something better comes along, imprisonment it is” he agreed, waving at a guard to come in. “Take him to the cell block, but don’t worry, he won’t be a problem” he instructed, as Ronin was escorted to his cell. =================================================== On the flight deck, Kojima and Shinji, decked out in Gis and wooden swords, trained as the sea caused the aircraft carrier to sway slightly, enough for Shinji to lose his footing. Kojima thrust his sword forward, and Shinji dodged it, bring his sword down on the neck of the older man. Kojima laughed heartily. “Good! You are quickly learning how to counter attacks. Now for something you should keep in mind” he said, as he pulled out a notebook. Shinji relaxed and stood still, his feet forming a T. “DO not attack your enemy, but rather, look for a time when he is not expecting you to act” Kojima recited. Shinji nodded and raised his sword. “Now” Kojima instructed “Attack me” Shinji prepared to swing his sword down in a clean arc, when Kojima brought his sword across his belly. “You were not ready, and thus you were killed” Kojima cheerfully said. Shinji cocked his head, “But you said not to attack” he complained. Kojima smiled and poked his chest with the sword. “Don’t be overly aggressive. Don’t alert the enemy to your plans. And…” he said waving him on to attack again, “don’t play by the rules” he finally added, as Shinji raised the sword, only to have a rubber gun thrust against his neck. “Never expect what is possible” Kojima told the younger man, tossing him the gun. “Now, let’s see if they finally made Tuna patties. I am starving!” ========================================== Jun sat across from Ronin and sighed heavily. “What were you thinking?” he asked, slightly disappointed. Ronin shrugged. “I…wish I could tell you. But…it’s not important now. Especially now that we are facing larger issues such as the Serizawa hunting us down” he said in a defeated tone. Jun leaned against the wall behind him and tossed him a wadded paper ball. Ronin undid the crumpling and read the note: “I know about you and my mother” Ronin looked up. “So…you know?” he asked. Jun leaned forward, his face red with anger he was holding back. “Yeah. Especially when my mother runs off in the middle of the night in your quarters. And the way she looks at you…it’s obvious. You are banging my mother, and tried to hide it. That coupled with your lack of judgment and self control makes me wonder if I was right in trusting you” he angrily threw at the other man. Ronin shot up and rushed up to Jun, only to have the bars block his path. “You think you could have done the escape from Mesuji’s deathtrap all by yourself? YOU?! You are a college student who thinks his balls are big enough to lead us. And look who died! Toro, Yui, your brother, EVERYONE at Shimura Village! You have a cloud of death that wafts over every person you meet. Truth is, I should have told you about Haruna and I being…together, but you were too busy being Mr. I-am-too-important. You are second in command not because you have the skill, but because you are the only person that beta piece of shit Yamamoto knows can kill things. In truth, your father was more of a man than you are!!” Ronin angrily spat at Jun. Jun sat back, horrified by what Ronin thre at him. “You…don’t actually believe all that…don’t you?” he asked quietly. Ronin nodded. “I do, because while we made it here, the fact is we have that psycho Noruaga following us. We are doomed. And neither you nor Yamamoto can stop it” he thundered angrily. Jun got up and turned to Ronin. “I guess…I was a poor choice of character in trusting you” he said, leaving the cell. Ronin sat in his cell, as the words echoed in his head. Jun left the cell to find Haruna standing there, tears in her eyes. “Jun, I meant to tell-” she began, but Jun interrupted with: “Don’t mom. I don’t want to hear it. If you don’t trust me enough to tell me, I guess I can’t trust you, now can I?” He then turned away and walked down the hall, leaving his mother to stand there, sobbing. ================================================= Sung-Min and Akiko were walking along the edge of the flight deck, chatting about their pasts. “When I was a child, my mother would make me take English and Japanese instead of playing games. I suppose that was for the better” Sung-Min explained, making Akiko giggle. She then frowned playfully. “So I have been meaning to ask: where did Mr. Black come from?” she asked. Sung-min smiled cheekily. “My idea. I watched a lot of spy dramas, and being a member of the Korean government means you have to have imagination” he told her, noticing her gaze never leaving him. She nodded. “I think that’s interesting, really. My dad raised me by himself after my mom was…” she paused, staring at her feet. Sung-min felt a cold breeze, and threw his overcoat on her, which she snuggled into gratefully. “She…died from a car accident. 30 car pileup, and being in the middle of winter, medics can’t always get to people on time. She didn’t make it….I never even saw her go” she explained, as her face began to grow red with grief. Sung-min wrapped an arm around her and kissed her on the top of her head. “You ever need to talk, I will be here. I promise” he softly told her. Akiko looked up and smiled through her tears. “Who would have thought I would fall for the Korean spy?” she said jokingly. Sung-min smiled sadly. “You wouldn’t want me, gorgeous. Trust me” he said, holding her close. Akiko snuggled her head against his arm. “Try me” she whispered. ================================ Kasune went to visit Ronin in his cell, sitting across from him. She tossed him a rice patty and a juice bottle, smiling kindly at the man. “So…she was Yokoshi? The family known for selling children to pedophiles and murderers? That’s why you killed that worthless woman?” she asked, noting the change in Ronin’s face. Ronin looked at her with a cold, emotionless face, stating, “The Yokoshi Family sold my sister to whoever had the highest dollar. She was probably the last of the rival Yakuza members in that family. I still see my sister, Atsuka…she was twelve…she never came home from school one day…until I saw her walking the streets in the red light district…enticing men to join her in bed. Seeing that mark, and seeing that bitch’s smirk made me snap, Kasune. I couldn’t help myself. Do I regret killing her? No. No I don’t” Kasune leaned forward. “And do you regret having your love leave you, and the man you considered your friend hate you?” she posed to him. Ronin relaxed on his bed, taking a bite out of his rice patty. “I am too damaged to have close friends…better they don’t become close to me” he mumbled. Kasune chuckled. “This isn’t college you fool! This is the end of the world. The walkers killing everything in sight should have made that clear. Look, whatever HORRID things you did, that only makes you stronger. And that strength is what matters now. Not how much of a hero you are. Stop being upset about your past, and use the anger to fuel your survival” she ordered him, standing and knocking on the door. A soldier opened the door, noticing the food in Ronin’s cell. “Is he allowed to have that?” he asked. Kasune smiled sweetly and kissed the soldier on his cheek. “Let him have SOME pleasure, please my dear?” she asked, making the soldier nod furiously. She looked back at Ronin, who stifled an amused laugh. ================================ Meanwhile, Jun and Shinji were summoned to Yamamoto’s office, along with Sung-min and Akiko. The four of them stood, waiting for Yamamoto to finish talking to the communications officer, noticing he was visibly distressed. The Admiral then entered the room, plopping down in his leather chair. “We received word of a luxury cruise liner that washed ashore a nearby island about 10 miles from our current location. Supposedly, the ship was carrying 100+ people, and to leave them for the Serizawa to find would be irresponsible. So…while we still have a lead on them, we should get them on board. Maybe find the Korean mainland to evacuate to” Yamamoto explained. Sung-min butted in with, “Admiral, the Korean mainland is overrun. Trust me, I saw Seoul burn to the ground myself. None of the ports are safe in South Korea” Yamamoto looked up with a raised eyebrow. “Who said anything about South Korea?” he asked. Akiko gawked at the Admiral, while Jun sputtered, “You are not seriously thinking about landing in North Korea’s ports, are you?!” Shinji wiped his forehead. “I am sure Kim Jong Il will be most welcoming. Especially considering how backwards those bastards are” he looked at Sung-min and added, “No offense Hanguk” Jun took in a deep breath and calmly told the Admiral, “Landing in North Korea would be a suicide mission. With both Pyongyang and Seoul so close in proximity, the number of walkers would be in the millions. Even if we did land in the countryside, who knows who controls the land now? The Russians? Chinese? Who can we actually trust not to slit our throats once we leave this boat?” Yamamoto began to pour himself a drink when Akiko grabbed the bottle out of his hands. “You don’t get to drink and hand wave your way through this. We need a solid plan. We need to know when, where and how we will get out of this. This isn’t a vacation. This is you leading us. And you need to do the actual leading for once” she sternly told him, taking the bottle away from him and putting it in a file cabinet nearby. Yamamoto stood and looked Jun in the eyes. “I think she is right…too much whining and cowardly bullshit coming from me. I am not the man to lead us, but I should be. No more games” he said, as he adjusted his collar. Jun and Shinji looked at each other and grinned. “The cruise ship needs our help. We can recue as many as half of the passengers. We can’t keep running either. After you get the group aboard, we will find, track down, and kill Norunaga. Both he and the Board need to be wiped out, if we are to survive this trial. And Jun…if you encounter any JOC soldiers or Serizawa crew members…do whatever it takes to protect yourself” =================================== Takeshi meanwhile sat up in his bed, a cramp running through his leg. Momoko rushed to help him stand, with the older man grumpily accepting her assistance. He, while gripping his wound, began to walk, wincing in pain every couple of steps. He stopped and looked at Momoko, who grinned from ear to ear. “You were stabbed less than 24 hours ago, and now you are in tip top shape!” she cheerfully told him. Takeshi grunted and sat down. “Maybe not tip top, but still I am improving. Tough old bastards the Murano family tree” he joked, causing Momoko to chuckle. She noticed a scar on his chest, and ran her hand down it. “How did you get this?” she asked. Takeshi chuckled. “I was on a case, and the guy I was after decided it would be cool to pull a gun on me. I had a gun smuggled in my coat, and without thinking I shot him, but not before he shot me. That…punk…cost me my job as a detective. They said either I retire or work as a policeman. We aren’t supposed to have guns, but with the dead coming back, well, rules were broken” Momoko somberly nodded. “You were married?” she asked, noting his faded wedding band mark. “I was…she died a month and a week ago…I didn’t think I would get over her, but trying to survive, you forget things. Like her smile, her laugh….her voice. I…” tears welled up in his eyes, and he felt this throat begin to swell. Momoko wrapped her arm around him and cooed, “Its okay…I lost my father to this world too. He was bit, and I was the one who had to put him down…” Takeshi cleared his throat, and melted into her embrace. ========================================= Jun, Shinji, Sung-Min, Akiko, Kojima, and Kasune geared up alongside 4 other soldiers, while Yamamoto watched. Kasune approached the Admiral and asked, “Ronin isn’t coming? He could prove useful after all” Yamamoto tiled his head. “Even if he was useful for this op, we can’t have him come along. After just outright committing murder, he showed his true colors” She then looked at Jun, who muttered, “Bastard played us all along” Akiko and Shinji glanced at each other, and stayed quiet. Sung-min shrugged. “I think we will be just fine. After all, the dead won’t prove to be too much of a challenge” he said in an upbeat manner. Jun forced a smile and pointed at him. “See? We will be fine without him” Kojima took Shinji aside and handed him a long item. “Here…for the dead and the living alike” Shinji unwrapped the item, and saw a Katana, its handle wrapped in ray skin with a leather grip, a triangular Tsuba (hand guard) and the blade a dull black. Shinji frowned at the blade. “Why is it black?” he asked. Kojima smiled in a fatherly way, and replied, “It is named Kuroi, or black. It is meant to represent the dark world being used in your hands to shape a brighter future. Besides, it adds character, right?” he chuckled. Shinji nodded thankfully, and tied it to his side. Jun looked at his group, and commanded, “Alright, let’s move out!” The group boarded the Osprey, and it lifted into the air, the noon sun beating down on Jae Eun, who waved at the departing crew. She and Soo-yung noticed a storm cloud in the distance, with lighting flickering amongst the blackened, knotted clouds. Soo-yung looked at the crew, who nervously pointed to the clouds, while Jae Eun ran up to the communication deck. “Is that storm system approaching the Osprey’s location?” she asked. One airmen nodded, with Jae Eun nervously replying, “Oh my god” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: A storm threatens the survival of everyone on the Shinda, while Jun’s group attempts to save people under threat.

NEW CAST: Gabe Holoman- Miura Haruma (with blonde hair) JOC Woman - Misato Kashiwagi JOC Soldier - Kento Senga Summary: A storm threatens the survival of everyone on the Shinda, while Jun’s group attempts to save people under threat.
Episode 305 – Beached
The Osprey landed on a flat area of the island, with a strong breeze greeting the group as they exited the craft. Jun pointed to the dark clouds and commented, “We shouldn’t stay too long. Something tells me things are going to become nasty soon” Sung-min nodded. “Especially on a small spit of land like this. Look!” he pointed to a large, torpedo shaped object on the shore ahead of them, with what appeared to be wreckage strewn about the rest of the shoreline. They then noticed a small group of walkers, around 12, approaching them. Jun grimly nodded to Shinji & Sung-min, who drew their weapons. The other group members held back, raising their rifles to pick off stragglers. Jun swung his machete, slicing off the top of one walker’s head, while Shinji skewered the head of another with Kuroi, pulling the blade to the left and out, beheading another walker in the process. He smiled excitedly at Kojima, who nodded approvingly and proceeded to stab another walker with his knife. Several suppressed shots pinged through the air, as half a dozen walkers fell to gunfire from the supporting members. One single walker remained, a child whose arm was torn off, but was hanging from a ligament. Sung-min approached the child walker and tripped it, shoving the face into the sand, and then sinking his knife in the back of its head. He stood up and replied glumly, “I don’t want to see a dead child’s face ever”. The rest of the group cleaned off their weapons and went towards the wreckage. The amount of junk that originated from the wreck became more cluttered, with things like luggage cases, ruined chairs, clothing, table ware, and other random trash being the majority. Jun found a wooden box with a small clasp, opening it to discover a refurbished C96 Mauser, in near perfect shape. He smiled and showed it to Sung-min who grinned with excitement. “I always loved that model! Can I have it?” he asked. Jun shrugged and handed him the gun along with several loaded clips. They then saw the ship head on, the vessel lying on its side, the garish colors now faded from exposure to the beach. Jun overlooked the beach, finding only one or two walkers wandering around. Sung-min put a hand on his shoulder and said, “You guys should check out the ship for supplies and survivors. Kojima and I will check the luggage for anything useful” prompting an acknowledging nod from Jun, who waved for his crew to follow him in the wreckage. =================================== Inside the ship, Jun could smell the putrid stink of rotten, fetid flesh that emanated from the dead that were below deck. The ship, being sideways, was difficult to walk through, but due to the ship being a luxury liner, the decks were wide enough to allow them to go through with ease. They came across the kitchen, which was guarded by a single walker, who reached out with a splintered hand to claw them, but a strike across the head with a meat mallet dropped it. Shinji looked to see Akiko lower the mallet. She shrugged, and picked up a can of salmon. “We could find a treasure trove of food here!” she stated, as the group entered the storage room. All but a handful of cans were gone, with empty cans littering the floor. Jun angrily picked up a can and tossed it aside. “Maybe that means we have survivors close by?” Shinji piped up, with Akiko adding, “If they knew the ship was empty they probably left. We should search the island for anyone still alive” They then heard a knocking from one of the doors nearby, and saw a bar wedged in the door’s latch wheel. Jun un-jammed the door, and opened it. The smell of rot and death punched him across the senses, and he saw a shallow puddle, with around 20+ walkers in the water, having now created a thick soup in the room. A series of arms with meat tumbling off the bone shot out of the water, with a thick oily scum dripping from their fingers. Jun gagged and quickly shut the door. A soldier sighed heavily, commenting “Jesus…” with Shinji trying not to vomit from the smell alone. ================================ Kojima and Sung-min were sifting through the luggage, finding a handful of items, such as candy bars, knives, toothpaste, medicine and a few other things that survived the water. Kojima looked up while sifting through a suitcase towards Sung-min, and asked, “So why do you keep going? What keeps you from giving up?” Sung-min threw aside a dress and replied, “I don’t know. Maybe I just am not ready to back to life looking for anything moving to eat” Kojima chuckled. “I think that you are more optimistic than that. I have seen the way you look at Akiko. You obviously care about her, yet you don’t make a move. Why?” The Korean stuffed a cigarette in his mouth and lit it with a lighter he found. “Because I tried that dating shit. Ended with me leaving the girl because I couldn’t commit. I am a miserable soul, and she deserves someone better to be frank” he said, puffing out smoke in an irritated manner. Kojima scoffed. “You are a decent young man. I don’t think you should paint Akiko in such a manner. If she liked you, she would put up with your shit. That is what love is about. Trust me, my wife put up with more than enough nonsense from me” he stated, making Sung-min squint at the older man. “You think so?” asked Sung-min, who had found a necklace made from leather with a gold rose in the center. Kojima smiled in a fatherly way, but then stood suddenly to see a small group approach them. There were around 7 people, consisting of 3 women, 3 men and a single child, all dressed in ragged clothing with one man, a Japanese American with blond hair, armed with a pistol. Sung-min stood and held his hands up. The man pointed his Beretta at Sung-min and shouted, “Don’t do anything stupid! I will shoot you!” Kojima softly replied, “We aren’t trying to hurt you, my friend. We were actually here to save you from this island, since we are aboard a nearby Navy vessel. Would you be interested in coming with us?” The leader lowered his gun and asked, “Are there more of you?” Sung-min stepped forward. “A small group inside the ship, yes. But they are only searching for additional supplies and survivors. We encountered many of the dead along the way” The leaders face fell, “Those were what were left of the crew. The group went off to scavenge food, but never came back. That answers where they went” Jun and his group left the ship and saw the group, holstering their weapons. Jun approached the leader and extended his hand. “Jun Masumoto. I am leading this group. What is your name?” he introduced himself. “Gabe. Gabe Holoman. I was a transfer student from Chicago, and learned Japanese while I was here” Jun smiled and replied in English, “Your Japanese is very good. I am impressed” with Gabe blushing slightly. Kojima then noticed the storm brewing a few miles ahead of them. Jun grabbed his radio and shouted, “Shinda, are we clear to fly?” silence was all he heard. “Kojima, could the storm be causing interference?” he asked, receiving a nod in return. Jun angrily clicked off the radio, and approached Gabe. “Is there anywhere we can bunker down for the night, besides the ship filled with the dead?” Gabe nodded, pointing to a small hill. “There used to be a WW2 era bunker there, and most of it is still intact. We could stay there for the night” he suggested, with Jun waving at his group to go inside. ============================== The storm blew in, with the rain and winds howling outside. The Osprey had landed back on the Shinda, while the group huddled inside the bunker. A small fire was built, with a single grate above them providing ventilation. Gabe sat poking the fire, while Shinji stirred a pot filled with pork and beans. Jun sipped on a juice box, when Gabe asked, “So what is it like out there? I mean…outside of this island?” Shinji spoke up with, “Tokyo is gone. Military firebombed it, as well as the other main cities, like Osaka, Yokohama, Shibuya, & Hiroshima. The dead are everywhere, and the living are even worse than the dead in most cases” One girl replied with “Are you one of those people?” Jun shook his head. “Trust me we aren’t in this just to hurt you. There are others who would take advantage of you, either for supplies, or for their own motives” Gabe snapped his stick in half, tossing it in the fire. “Then why save us?” he asked. Sung-min handed him a letter. Gabe opened it and read it aloud: “To who this is being given to: I am Admiral Koike Yamamoto, leader of the survivalist colony aboard the Shinda, an aircraft carrier with enough room to keep everyone safe. If you do not believe what the man who gave you this letter says, then believe these photos enclosed. Please, stay alive and join my crew” Gabe opened the small pouch with 10 small color photos of the ship, as well as the crew. He handed the letter back to Sung-min, and commented “I guess you are legitimate. After this storm passes, we will be able to leave finally. How long has passed?” Jun frowned. “I think around 7 weeks now. A lot has changed in that short amount of time” Gabe sighed, “I suppose, I will now have plenty of time to learn that fact” =========================================== The storm raged on for the entire night, and aboard the Shinda Jae Eun watched through the port window in her and Jun’s quarters. Haruna entered the room and sat next to her, watching the storm also. “Do you think they are alright, wherever they are?” Jae Eun asked nervously. Haruna smiled warmly, and said, “Of course. Jun is a very capable of surviving the elements. Still, I can’t help but feel as if we are becoming spoiled and soft on board here. As if we would be unprepared for the harsh world again, especially if we were to leave here without warning” she looked out the window again, with Jae Eun commenting, “I can only imagine the world outside…” Yamamoto was also observing the storm through the observation deck, angrily demanding, “Contact them again!” the airman shook his head. “We tried to contact them 10 times already, but the storm is causing too much interference. Especially with all this lighting” Water sloshed onto the deck, as the crew had went inside to avoid being washed overboard. Yamamoto sighed, uncorking a bottle of Yoshugi Ale, but then resealing it. Ambassador Lee, the Korean who welcomed Jun’s group, approached him. “Sir, how long until the storm passes? It has already been four hours” Yamamoto shook his head, “Who knows. Could clear up in hours…or days. Sea storms are unpredictable” A large multi fingered bolt of lightning struck the ocean, causing a spray of water to fly onto the deck, which shook the entire crew in the Observation room. “At least, Lee, the Serizawa and her minions won’t find us also” he breathed in relief. ================================================ The wind and rain howled outside the bunker’s rusty steel door, as Jun sat guarding the group. Sung-min crept up to him, and lightly shook him. He sat down, and toyed with the lighter he found. “So…I wanted to ask: how do you tell someone you more than like them? Without looking like a nerd?” he asked. Jun smiled and pointed to a sleeping Akiko. “You and her?” Sung-min nodded, causing Jun to contain a laugh. “Never would have thought you and her would be an item” he confessed. Sung-min pursed his lips. “I will ask her when we get back aboard” they sat and listened to the storm’s raging winds outside, when Jun spoke up: “I am afraid to go back to the world outside the Shinda. I don’t want to go out there anymore” he confessed, with Sung-min replying, “Me too. The world will soon decay. Greenery will overtake the cities. Cars will cease working. The dead will dwindle down, and everything we knew will be dust” He leaned back. “Doesn’t matter what you were or did, what matters if you can contribute to a better world, or end up as dirt” he said, receiving an acknowledging stare from Jun, who turned away from Sung-min, thoughts racing through his mind. That following morning, the storm passed through, and Jun awoke to only the sound of water lapping onto the beach. He exited the bunker, and saw the storm in the distance heading away from the island. Jun breathed a sigh of relief, but suddenly heard a familiar series of noises. He turned to find that the storm had caused the cruise liner to rock slightly, loosening several doors and releasing walkers. Akiko, Sung-min and Shinji awoke to Jun screaming, “GET UP! WALKERS!” Kojima and Gabe also awoke, grabbing whatever melee weapons they could find. The group of walkers, around 20, slowly made their way to the group, as Jun and his friends began to take them down, hacking slashing, stabbed and bashing any that stood in front of them. After a long fight, only one walker remained, and Jun looked at Shinji with a grin. “Your turn” he instructed. Shinji frowned, “Why me? We each took down an even number!” Finally Gabe approached the walker and stabbed it in the head. As it slumped to the ground, he playfully asked, “Did I win?” Suddenly, from the other side of the island, they heard the familiar sound of Osprey rotors, and Jun excitedly ran to greet the landing crew. The Osprey remained perfectly still as Jun walked towards the craft. “Thank Christ! I was worried-” Then the door opened, with half a dozen soldiers dressed in black riot gear pouring out, all armed with rifles. A woman dressed in a tight grey dress followed them, a clipboard in her hand. “Stand aside simpleton; these people are now the property of the JOC government. Interference will result in death” she ordered, pointing to the cruise liner survivors. Jun took his revolver from his holster and pulled back the hammer. “Why? Yamamoto is clearly following orders by rescuing people. All for the greater good” The woman laughed and again pointed to the people. “Cute. But keep it up and you won’t like the end result. Hand them over…now” Sung-min suddenly shouted from the nearby embankment, “Don’t think so sweetie!” Kojima and Shinji flanked the soldiers from the other side of the Osprey, and Akiko and Gabe raised their rifles. Jun raised his gun, and calmly replied, “Leave, and tell Norunaga he won’t have more crew to follow his orders” the woman then burst out laughing. “Orders? These people are for experimentation! We have the cure, and perfecting it will be the top priority of the JOC and the Board. Now…if you won’t hand them over, you might as well be eliminated” Jun piped up, “Cure? What cure? The only person working on the cure is…” he then realized who was behind this. “Mesuji. She is alive?!” he demanded. The woman shrugged, “Impressive” she commented, “at least you know. But now for-” Her words were cut short by Jun shooting her in the head. A shot rang out from Sung-min’s position, and several shots sang through the air, with the soldiers dropping dead. Shinji watched as Kojima stabbed one soldier in the head, but then saw one of the two surviving soldiers raising his rifle and pulling the trigger. A shot went clean through Kojima’s heart, and the older man fell to the ground. Shinji in a fit of rage sliced the hands off the soldier and then his head, sending parts dropping to the ground. The final soldier was held at gunpoint by Jun, who then noticed the pilot attempting to lift off. He knocked the soldier out cold and ran inside the craft, pulled the pilot out and blew his brains out on the landing floor. Shinji cradled the dying Kojima, who ran his hand down the younger man’s face. “Shinji, I guess this was the final fight. And damn, I had great fun” he coughed. Shinji felt a tear roll down his cheek, and croaked out, “Please! Don’t go! I can’t handle you going! You are all I have!!!” his throat tightened, and his face flushed red. Kojima smiled kindly, replying, “Shinji, I never had a son. But If I had had one, I would have wished you had been him…” his face fell, and his lip quivered. Suddenly, he looked to the sky, with a smile. A sigh of relief exited his lips, and he murmured, “Meiuka…my love…..My wife....I have missed you so much…” he raised a hand and curled his fingers shut, with his index finger pointed, as if to touch someone. Then, his hand dropped, and he became lifeless. Shinji sniffed, and held back the additional tears, as he prepared to drive his knife into the head of the lifeless Kojima. Jun turned his back, and heard the soft, squishy noise of the knife being driven into bone and flesh. Shinji approached Jun, and angrily replied, “Tell we are going to kill the Board and Mesuji…” Jun nodded. “We are going to kill every single one of those bastards…every single one” he said, looking at his group, who hung their heads in reverence to Kojima. Jun pointed to the Osprey, and ordered, “We are going back to the ship. Yamamoto must know that Mesuji is behind this” As the group loaded what little supplies, weapons and whatever was useful on the Osprey, Akiko took Jun aside and pointed to the soldier, who was tied to a tree. “What are we going to do about him?” Jun walked up to the soldier, and asked, “What does Norunaga have planned?” The soldier grinned and spat, “Only the unification of all of Japan under the rule of the new Showa era! The sun will rise again in Japan!” Jun’s face fell to an emotionless pile, and he somberly said, “That will never happen” and he then, shocking Akiko, shot the man in the head. He headed back the craft, telling her, “Let’s go back”, with her following him, horrified. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: News of the mastermind behind the Serizawa reaches the Shinda, and battle plans begin to brew.

Summary: News of the mastermind behind the Serizawa reaches the Shinda, and battle plans begin to brew
Episode 306 – A Single Drop
Yamamoto watched the storm pass, and breathed a sigh of relief. He entered the communication room and ordered: “Hail Jun and the group. We need to get a hold of them to see if they made it out alive. As soon as they respond send an Osprey to their location” As he waited for the transmission to be sent, an airman shouted, “SIR! WE HAVE A CONTACT! Heading straight towards us from the west!” Yamamoto ran to the screen and saw what was coming: a coast-guard vessel with the ID signature of “Hanto” He ordered his men to ready their guns, and waited until the Hanto approached the Shinda. The Hanto was only armed with one deck cannon, which was manned by a single JOC soldier. The vessel hailed the crew with: “Shinda Crew! You can all come into the Serizawa! Mercy will be extended upon you! Join us!” a man with a loudspeaker shouted. Yamamoto scoffed and told his men, “Fire on the Hanto’s crew when they come aboard. Let’s send the Board a message”, which received a shock look from an airmen. “Sir? Are you sure?” the airman asked, with Yamamoto nodding only once. The Hanto, with a crew of 10, climbed aboard the Shinda, only to be greeted with a hail of bullets. Afterwards, only one member, an officer was still breathing, and gasped for air while blood gurgled from his throat. Yamamoto approached the officer and took the radio from his vest, dialing it in to the frequency of the Serizawa. “This is Admiral Yamamoto, & to anyone from the JOC or the Board, all I have to say is…try harder, and come get me you bastards” he challenged. The radio then sputtered, “…as you wish Yamamoto”. Yamamoto clicked off the radio, and then shot the officer in the head without even flinching. Yamamoto looked at his stunned crew, and said, “The JOC want us dead. We have people who are not involved with the ongoing charities I do. Sentencing them to death over my presumed wrongdoings is not going to happen. Anyone who wishes to leave may do so…” none of the crew moved, until Haruna walked up to him, and replied, “We fight with you and my son, Admiral” Yamamoto smiled with confidence and appreciation. Takeshi, who was walking on the deck as his physical rehabilitation approached him and asked with mild shock, “So you slaughter a ship’s crew of theirs, and challenge them outright? Are you mad?!” causing the other man to shake his head. “I did what I had to do. If I had let them live, they would have contacted the Serizawa, and we would be set upon. Now, they know I am not willing to roll over and show my belly. I would rather die than have them enforce their rule on us” Takeshi shouted, “But you contacted them yourself! How in the hell did you become an Admiral?” Yamamoto thundered, “MURANO! I am doing what I think is right for once. I am tired of your group looking at me like a psychopath. We play by my rules now”, with the Admiral afterwards stomping off to the command deck. Takeshi hung his head, while Momoko held onto his arm. “But, at what cost to us?” He softly muttered, as he began to walk away. ===================================== Takeshi and Momoko made it the infirmary, where Takeshi angrily plopped down on the bed and growled, “That fool just signed our death warrants! Challenging the JOC outright and not even consulting anyone about whether opening fire was a good idea made him look like an even bigger drunkard! Damn idiot is a disgrace!” Momoko gently kissed him on the cheek, and soothingly whispered, “Shhhh. No need to get fired up. Take a nap, and get some rest, alright?” Takeshi huffed, and curled up with the blanket over him. Momoko gently patted his arm, and began to worry herself about Yamamoto’s actions. Jun’s Osprey landed on the flight deck around an hour later, and the group exited the craft, with Shinji and Sung-min carrying out the body of Kojima. Yamamoto walked up to Jun and demanded, “What happened? Who is…” he then saw the body of Kojima. “He…he was killed? How?” he asked, as he suddenly became somber. Jun explained, “We found the crew of the cruise liner, then the storm hit. After it passed, we were attacked by the JOC. Kojima…didn’t make it” as Shinji attempted to contain the tears about to burst from his eyes. Gabe approached Jun, and waited until he was done talking to the Admiral, but then noticed the blood still sticky on the tarmac. “What is this?!” he asked. Jun looked down and saw the blood too, and shot Yamamoto a look. Yamamoto sighed and explained, “The Hanto, a scouting vessel under the command of the JOC attempted to take over. We killed the crew and sent the Serizawa a message” Jun’s eyes grew wide. “Sent them a message? What message?!” Yamamoto straightened himself, as if to make himself seem more important. “I told them I am not afraid of them. And that if they want to find me, they can fight me” Jun exploded with rage and slammed his fist into Yamamoto’s chin. “YOU BASTARD YOU KILLED US ALL!” he screamed “DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE REST OF THE CREW?! THEY WILL BE USED AS TEST ANIMALS!” Yamamoto frowned, wiping his jaw, “What are you talking about Masumoto?” Jun snarled, “Dr. Mesuji is controlling them! She is developing a cure, and is using people as lab rats! Everyone on this vessel would be killed!” Yamamoto’s face drained. “Keiko Mesuji? The one who had our crew imprisoned in Tokyo and killed hundreds, if not thousands of civilians?” he asked, his voice quivering. Jun nodded, “And now you just sent us to their labs! You should have thought this out you idiotic dumb shit! Instead I think the liquor did the job for you!!” he rumbled as he ran off to the main access elevator. Sung-min walked up to the still stunned Admiral, and snarled, “If anyone here dies because of your arrogance and you somehow survive, I am throwing you overboard myself, you coward” --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ronin sat in his cell, waiting for either death or boredom to take him, but his Go-Go Super Car Manga kept him preoccupied until then. He had read the booklet 3 times already, and was almost ready to chuck it at the wall when Jun entered his holding room. He sat across from Ronin, who hunched over, his hands under his legs. “So…about what I said. I am sorry for being a massive son of a bitch earlier. It’s just that I was flooded with emotions and thoughts, and I didn’t mean to undermine you…or our friendship” he apologized. Jun half smiled, and replied, “I understand Ronin, we’re good. I think you need to save the sappy story for mom though” he then became much more serious and hand him a patch. “This was on the shoulder of a JOC soldier who attacked our landing group. The leader said they were under orders from not only the Board, but one Dr. Keiko Mesuji. What do you know about her, beside the fact she was the one who had dad taken hostage?” he asked. Ronin ran his hand through his ever growing hair. “Keiko is a smart, if not genius level Bio-Medical & NeuroScientific researcher from Kyoto. She was one of the few people I know of working on the cure for whatever this plague is, with the only other notable exceptions being Jaque Penoit from France, Xiang Huangli from Beijing, and Doctors Candice and Edwin Jenner in Atlanta, Georgia. But, she was able to refine the serum beyond any of their research with the help of the Health Minister’s vast resources, and the use of human test subjects. I know this because during my drafting by the Government to contain the situation, I was given a ton of homework” he explained. Jun toyed with the patch in his hand, looking at the cold, off white ceiling. “There is something else you aren’t telling me, isn’t there?” he posed to the other man, who sighed heavily. “The Board and the JOC are fanatics of the idea of an empirical Japan, akin to what Showa Period emperor Hirohito envisioned. Pure blooded and fanatical followers, willing to murder anyone who stands in their way. And Mesuji is a high ranking member with lots of political pull, which the JOC used. The Board is simply complied scraps leftover from the now defunct Japanese government. With the supposed cure in her possession, and the JOC’s firepower, they could end up being a new world power. Yamamoto needs to stop screwing around and leave the Japanese ocean, before the Serizawa finds us” Jun approached the bars and said angrily, “Yamamoto outright challenged the Board and JOC by killing the crew of one of their vessels, the Hanto” Ronin laughed. “WOW. And I thought me killing that bitch was impulsive” he commented. Jun walked away to the bars, facing away from Ronin. “What will happen once Mesuji catches us?” he asked, worry in his voice. Ronin smirked. “If you are lucky, she will just have you killed. If you aren’t outright killed, you will be used for experimentation purposes. Keiko is a piece of ass, but she is ruthless, and is never afraid to spill blood to accomplish her goals” Jun raised an eyebrow. “Piece of ass?” he amusedly asked. Ronin chuckled, “Walking down boring corridors all day tends to have one’s eyes wander” =================================== On the Serizawa, Norunaga placed the radio down on the table quietly, and stood, visibly shaking in anger. Mesuji entered his quarters and noticed his distress. “What is the matter my love?” she asked. Norunaga bit his lip, and trying not to explode in rage replied, “That bastard Yamamoto took out the Hanto. We are now down to 3 vessels, the Serizawa, the Kokomori, and the Hajimune. We cannot afford to lose more ships. Especially IF HE THINKS HE CAN BEAT ME!” he shouted, throwing the radio against the wall. Mesuji ran her hand down his arm, soothingly cooing, “The Board want to see you, babe. I think we might need to keep this quiet. For everyone’s sake” Norunaga sighed and nodded his head. “We might as well go now. Bets not to keep them waiting” The two of them entered the main Board meeting room, and found it empty. Norunaga looked around, and commented, “I think we might be early” Suddenly, he was thrown against the wall by someone in the shadows, and his hands were tied together. The Board then entered the room, and sat quietly, while the Captain struggled. Mesuji nodded to someone in the shadows, and out into the light stepped Hogun, who was holding the captive Norungana in front of him. Norunaga cried out, “You were behind this Keiko?!” as the ropes tightened even more. The head of the Board, Genji Mamakomo, stepped close to him, and looked at Mesuji. “The Board has decided, after the failure to bring in the Shinda with the usage of the Hanto, that replacing the Captain of the Norunaga would be a valuable option. Keiko Mesuji, would you be willing to work directly under me, as the leader of this vessel, and as the leader of all JOC military operations?” Mesuji looked at Norunaga, who bleated weakly, “PLEASE! DON’T DO THIS! Keiko…please…as your fiancé I beg you” to her, and replied, “Yes. I think you replacing him would be the best choice. And as for his final ending?” Genji tossed her a knife. “Do as you see fit” he ordered. Mesuji took the knife and walked behind Norunaga, and without hesitiation plunged it in his neck, causing him to collapse. Hogun looked at her with confusion. “This will not kill him Priestess” he commented. Mesuji brushed the hair of the now supine Norunaga. “Hogun my dear, he is merely paralyzed. But it would be callous of me to simply leave him be…” she trailed off, and then swiftly stabbed him in the middle of his forehead, causing thick red blood to ooze out and seep onto her hand. She looked at the blood, and wiped it on Hogun, who nodded in an almost thankful manner. Genji looked down at the dead body and then back towards Mesuji. “We heard about his failure to contain the Shinda with the use of the Hanto, and such failures are not acceptable. Still, Doctor, I think it is time to take things into my own hands. And…I think it’s time to try out these new shells, don’t you think?” Mesuji cricked her head, and smiled sweetly, “I think so too… Emperor Mamakomo” She turned to leave when Genji asked loudly, “And I assume this wasn’t too hard for you to do, right? Putting this weak coward down who once was your fiancé?” Mesuji coldly replied, “When a wolf is too weak, it’s always kind to put them down. Only slows down the alpha and the entire pack” ====================================== Gabe and Shinji were sitting with Sung-Min and Haruna in the mess hall, trying to come to terms with Kojima’s death. “I’m sorry you had to go through that Shinji…Kojima was the one who saved us all…he meant a lot to you and us as well” Haruna said comfortingly, as she wrapped her arm around him in a motherly manner. Gabe poked at his sausage, and asked, “You all are a tight group, I can tell. It’s something I wish the group I was with was like. Everyone there was so preoccupied with coming back to the mainland and resuming whatever nonsense they had planned. Hell, even when the ship was shot at, everyone was arrogant and unwilling to think of others” Shinji wiped the tears from his red cheeks. “Shot at?” he asked. Gabe nodded. “The Serizawa shot at us, and landed several clean hits, one hitting the engine room. The explosion killed half the crew. The other half were the walkers you fought. We…had to lock several dying people in a room, as water began to fill up…I was the one who gave the order to lock the door” he told them, regret hanging heavily from his face. Sung-min quietly added, “I am too much of a coward to tell the woman I like that I want to be with her” Haruna also piped up with, “The man I love was not who I thought he actually was. I lost him and my ability to feel young again” Shinji choked down some air and replied, “Aren’t we all a miserable bunch of bastards, huh?” causing the group to chuckle slightly. ==================================== Yamamoto stood, looking at a painting that hung in his office. It was a field, dotted with vivid pink flowers, with a single person standing in the middle. Jun entered his office and asked, “What is it you wanted to talk to me about?” Yamamoto, without even moving, answered, “I want you to take a team and clean out the other two vessels under the Board’s control: the Hajimure & the Kokomori. Both are light coastal patrol vessels, with a crew of 20 men each. Remove their crew from the equations, and we can use the ships to ferry people into the Korean mainland” Jun was stunned. “Evacuate the Shinda?” he gasped. Yamamoto turned and faced him. “I think it would be for the best, unless you have another plan of action” Jun stood silently, thinking over what could be a more viable option. Then he had it. “We attack the two ships with a hit squad, then cripple the Serizawa with a bombing run” Yamamoto glanced over his shoulder in mild amusement. “Bombing run? It’s an Osprey, not a B-17” Jun shrugged. “Still, we can drop payloads from the cargo ramp. We need to hit them before they hit us. And if we sink it, well…that saves us all the trouble we would go through evacuating the Shinda” Yamamoto chuckled. “So you want us to attack a BATTLESHIP, a floating army with a single Osprey, and then wipe out the other two vessels crews? That’s a heavy risk, Masumoto. Still…you do have the JOC Osprey…so they would probably not shoot on sight. And if they hail you, you can send the faulty equipment code, preventing the need for you to speak to them. I think it could work!” he excitedly commented. He looked at the door, and quietly said, “Still, we would need 3 people to operate the Osprey: a pilot, a co-pilot, and a bomber. And I think I know exactly who I can use to be the bomber…Ronin” Jun angrily flew up to his face “NO! You won’t send him to his death! I won’t allow it Admiral!” he yelled. Yamamoto shrugged. “He has been through worse. I think he would be just fine. Besides, maybe he is a man who is capable of deciding his fate for himself. So, it’s not up to YOU. I will ask him myself to volunteer for this mission” he said matter-of-factly. Jun sighed in defeat, and muttered, “I will get the strike teams ready” ------------------------------------------------------------ Ronin finally had enough of his Manga, and tossed the book across the room through the bars. The door opened, and in came Yamamoto, who picked up the book, and put something in it, tossing it back to him. Ronin opened the book to find the cell key, prompting him to look at the Admiral in confusion. Yamamoto smiled in an almost devious manner, and said, “I have a job for you to do, and you can’t do it locked up in here. So I have a proposition for you…if you are willing to hear it that is. I have heard Prison makes people less open to outside prospects, but you would know that very well, wouldn’t you, Ronin?” Ronin faked a smirk. “What do you want, old man?” he demanded while he unlocked the cell door, stepping in front of the Admiral. Yamamoto handed him a Glock 17 and a knife, asking, “How would you like to take out the Board, and Dr. Mesuji yourself?” Ronin smiled from ear to ear, and replied, “Well….color me interested, Admiral” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: As one mission is successful, another isn’t, and the precipice or war draws nearer.

NEW CAST: Ensign Emiko Yamaguchi - Nanao Arai Commander Yohei - Yusuke Kamiji Summary: As one mission is successful, another isn’t, and the precipice or war draws nearer.
Episode 307- Calm Before
The crew of the Hajimune slept, with only 3 guards on the vessel keeping watch. One guard rubbed his neck and grunted irritably, “God I wish I could be aboard the Serizawa. At least there I am not forced into 24/7 guard duty” Another guard scoffed. “Well, until the Shinda is ours, we are stuck on this tub, so get used to this shit man” They were so busy talking they had not noticed a small raft approach them, filled with 6 men. Jun, Sung-min, and 4 other soldiers quietly rowed up to the vessel, tying themselves to the side of the boat. Jun crept up the ladder used to enter and exit the vessel when docked, taking care not to slip or make a sudden movement. A guard in front of him puffed on a cigarette, oblivious to everything due to a lack of sleep. Jun grabbed him, cupping a hand over his mouth, and then shunting a knife in the back of his head, killing the man. Jun quietly dropped the man, and saw another guard, holding a cup of coffee, stare with an open mouth. Jun without thinking pulled out his suppressed Glock and shot him, sending the cup shattering upon the deck. “DAMMIT!” he said to himself. At once, a guard poked his head out the door adjacent to Jun’s left, and shouted, “INTRUDERS!!!” Jun blew his brains out, and hoarsely yelled, “Clean them out!” His group poured in the door, rifles raised. Almost instantly, a crew member rushed them, a wrench raised. Sung-min shot him in the gut, sending him collapsing onto the floor, blood pooling around him. Another crew member, a young woman, had a long screwdriver in her hand, and she used it to stab one of the soldier’s under Jun’s command in the neck. Jun threw her against the wall, and shot her twice: once in the heart and finally in the head. The wounded soldier gasped for air, gurgling blood while struggling to breathe. He collapsed, with Sung-min stepping over him. More crew members, mostly technicians and deckhands, poured out from the sleeping quarters, all armed with whatever they could find in their quarters. They then saw the rifles aimed at them from the end of the hall, dropping their weapons. “Don’t shoot, please!” one sailor yelped. Jun smiled, and replied, “Don’t try anything, and you will all live. Now, where is the commander of this vessel?” One technician pointed to a door which was still closed. Sung-min snuck up to the door, hearing scuffling and muttered cursing. He waved at Jun, who approached the door also, his pistol raised. Sung-min flung open the door, and out tumbled the Commander, a younger man still dressed in his sleeping robes. He was armed with a pistol, which was quickly wrenched out of his hand as he was forced to the ground. “Bastards! I will kill you all!” he screamed. Sung-min chuckled, “I think you are gravely mistaken, sir. Now, what is your name?” The Commander, realizing he was defeated, grunted, “Commander Yohei. Now, what will happen to us?” he demanded. Jun smiled. “There is an island nearby that is uninhabited. There are enough food and supplies here to last you there for months. You should be able to row to the mainland, provided storms don’t pass through” Yohei stared with mild confusion. “You aren’t going to kill us?” he asked incredulously. Jun shook his head and pointed to the crew. “They aren’t worth killing. We don’t kill innocent people, only those that are a danger to us. Now, you and your crew will move to the bow, where your supplies will be loaded onto a boat. Then, you will be sent ashore. Don’t try anything stupid either, because I will kill people who try shit” he warned. Yohei scoffed, “I thought you didn’t kill innocent people?” Jun replied with, “Well…if you try shit, you aren’t innocent, are you? Now move!” As the crew was herded to the upper bow, both the crew member and soldier who had been killed turned, and they rose. The Soldier walker snarled at Jun and the crew, but was quickly out down by Sung-min. Meanwhile, the crew walker grabbed one of the Hajimune and sank it’s teeth into his neck, spraying blood all over the wall. Yohei picked up a knife and stabbed the walker, and then turned to Jun who pointed his pistol at him. “Drop it. The walker is dead, now drop the knife!” he commanded, prompting the Commander to stab the dying crew member in the eye. “Can’t leave him to turn” muttered Yohei. ===================================== Jun radioed Yamamoto an hour later. “We secured the Hajimune. Mostly technicians and ensigns. Seven casualties, including one of our men. We are sending the crew to a nearby island, to keep them out of trouble, over” Yamamoto on the other end sighed in relief, and responded, “Good work Masumoto! Now for us to clean out the Kokomori” Jun overlooked the prisoners, when a thought entered his mind. “I think it’s strange the Serizawa hasn’t tried to communicate with the Hajimune yet. Usually, ships have to check in every few hours, right?” he asked. There was a silence on the other radio. “…you’re right. It’s strange they haven’t tried to communicate with the ship as of now. Norunaga is not that lazy. Be careful, and sink the ship instead of using it to ferry people to the mainland” Jun raised an eyebrow. “Sink it?” he asked skeptically. “Yes. Better it sink than for us to have them re-board and use the ship. And if it’s captured, we would be back at square one all over again” Jun nodded to himself. “Understood. We will blow a hole in the bottom deck and let it sink. Jun out” he clicked off the radio, and waved at Sung-min. The Korean rushed over to Jun, who ordered, “We need to get these people off the Hajimune. Yamamoto wants to sink the ship” Sung-min laughed with mild annoyance. “Drunken bastard is so inconsistent, but oh well. I will rig some explosives on the lower deck” Jun and his group inflated the rafts, and threw all the crew’s radios into the ocean. “There is an island about 2 miles west of here. The island can be hopped to the Korean mainland, where you should be able to start a new life” Jun explained, throwing a bag of knives into the raft. Commander Yohei nodded in appreciation. “I am thankful you didn’t kill us. Maybe…if we meet again, I can repay you the same kindness” he said. Jun shrugged. “Who knows?” he replied, and watched as the rafts rowed away from the Hajimune. The Ospreys were inbound to pick up the group, when Sung-min shouted over the radio “JUN WE NEED TO GET SHINJI OFF THE OTHER SHIP!” =========================================== Shinji, with his group, approached the Kokomori, which was sitting on the water, eerily silent. “Where is everyone?” Shinji asked one member of his group. The woman shrugged, “It is strange…not even a single JOC member has tried to stop us” The group climbed aboard, and checked the command deck, only to find it empty. They then searched the crew quarters, again being hauntingly empty. “Where is everyone?” Shinji muttered as they searched the rooms. After finding nothing, they finally searched the storage room. The floor was coated in dried blood with the smell of rotting flesh punching them in the senses. They then heard the familiar noise of walkers snarling and growling. Shinji flashed his flashlight towards the noises, and saw a herd of walkers being held back by a double paned Plexiglas wall. Shinji found a clipboard on the floor, and picked it up. It detailed the experiments Mesuji conducted, and how the failed experiments would be dumped on the mainland. The final note mentioned an unknown ship anchoring next to them, and holding everyone hostage. A smear of blood stained the bottom of the page, making the rest illegible. Shinji heard a noise, this time different than what the walkers usually made, coming from a locker in the office near the Plexiglas wall. He opened the locker and out tumbled a young woman, covered in blood and shaking from fear. “Please don’t kill me!” she screeched in terror. Shinji held up his hands in a non-threatening way, and said softly, “We aren’t here to hurt you ma’am…who were you expecting?” The woman stood shakily and accepted the canteen of water Shinji offered her. “We were awaiting Emperor Mamakomo’s orders, but we were ambushed by the Chinese!” she blurted out, her hands shaking much of the water out of the canteen. Shinji frowned in utter bafflement. “Emperor Mamakomo? The Chinese? What is happening?” he demanded. The woman held out her name badge, which read, “Ensign Emiko Yamaguchi” Shinji held her shaking hands in his, and asked again, “Emiko, sweetie, who is this new Emperor, and what are the Chinese doing in the Japanese sea?” Emiko rested her head against his arm, and said, “Genji Mamakomo, the leader of the Board and the JOC declared himself Emperor after he executed Captain Norunaga after he failed to attack the Shinda. As for the Chinese, they are prowling the oceans killing anyone they come across. Those sunken ships were mostly sunk by them, with a few exceptions” Suddenly, Shinji’s radio barked, “SHINJI! You need to haul ass out of there now! The ship is containing Mesuji’s walkers!” Shinji responded, “I know. We found one survivor. The Chinese are the ones hunting those ships we found sinking or already sunk” Jun, who was on the other end, ordered, “Get out of there. From what the manifests on the Hajimure say, it’s rigged to sink by itself…” All of a sudden, the ship let out a long, ear piercing creak as the ship tilted upwards. The walkers were now pressed against the Plexiglas windows, which were now spider webbing with cracks. Shinji picked up Emiko, and shouted, “Get off the ship!” As he and Emiko got out of the room, the glass broke, sending a herd of 100+ walkers crashing through the glass, and straight into the group sent with Shinji. Screams and the sound of flesh being torn filled the air, as Jun quickly shut the door. Emiko grabbed a rifle and frantically screamed, “We need to go! It’s going to sink!” They ran up the top deck, and jumped on the rafts. The Kokomori groaned as it slipped into the ocean. Shinji, still breathing heavily, asked Emiko “Why help me?! I am your enemy!” Emiko responded with “We are all trying to survive. Civil War is only adding more dead in this world. Now let’s get out of here” =============================== Ronin sat in the back of the Osprey, playing with a marble he had found in the cargo hold. The craft had 10 bombs, and they would be dropped as the hatch opened. They approached the Serizawa, when a shot from one of the deck guns few past them. Ronin was flung to the floor, and shouted, “They’re shooting at us! Get out of here!”The pilot turned, when a shot clipped the right rotor of the craft, sending the Osprey careening into the ocean. Ronin managed to escape the craft floating on the water, but soon saw a raft speeding towards him. He raised his hands, and was greeted by JOC soldiers, who drug him onto the raft, rifles raised. Ronin was cuffed, and taken to the main bridge, where Genji Mamakomo stood in front of him, looking him up and down. “Ronin…the master-less samurai. Yamamoto put you up to this I bet” he said in a very friendly way, almost disarming Ronin’s sense of awareness. Ronin smiled back at him, trying not to spit in his face. “So where is Norunaga, huh? Cowardly little bitch didn’t have the stomach to kill me outright?” Genji smirked. “The Captain didn’t have the required drive I have. So he was replaced. And I think killing you is too blunt. Besides, someone wants to meet you” Ronin turned behind him to see Mesuji standing there, winking at him. “Hello handsome, long time no see” she cooed. Ronin faked a sigh of relief. “At least I will die seeing those fine assets one last time, and since I am not working for you, I can say that” Mesuji pressed herself against him, and whispered, “If you had been slightly less abrasive, I think you could have actually had a chance at being with me. After all, dark, mysterious men are my thing” Ronin smiled at her sweetly. “Knowing you like I do now, I would have killed you in your sleep” Mesuji kissed him on his lips, and ran her hand down his shirt. “I would have loved to see you try” she murmured. Hogun stepped in between them and struck Ronin in the stomach with the butt of a rifle in his hands. “How does that feel?” Hogun asked, prompting Ronin to wheeze, “So…Genji…this how you treat all guests?” Genji genuinely laughed, and replied, “Well, the wine ran out days ago. BUT STILL…I think you should be the one to see what our first step in creating our new world will be” Ronin coughed, “And that is?” Mesuji ran a hand through his hair, answering with “The Shinda’s sinking, and Yamamoto’s head on a pike” Ronin asked, curious to know the answer, “And I will be executed afterwards, right? I hate to take up space” Genji chuckled again, and patted Ronin on the shoulder, as if they were best friends. “YOU will be forced to commit honorable Seppuku, my friend. Or, be fed to the dead. It’s your choice” Mesuji cooed, “I would take the latter. You would be buried with high honors of course” Ronin grunted, “I would rather be shot” as he was taken away. Hogun noticed the Osprey still in the water, the two pilots waving from the windows. “What about them?” he asked. Genji pointed to them, and ordered, “Save them” A cannon shot rang, and the shell struck the Osprey, causing it to explode. Genji turned to Mesuji and Hogun, commenting with, “Better that than dying in the water, right?” ===================================== Haruna, Akiko and Jae Eun were sorting through the guns brought back from the dead JOC soldiers, checking for anything unusual. Akiko picked up a knife, and unsheathed it, the blade inscribed “A new dawn rises” Haruna looked over towards the blade, and commented, “They REALLY like the idea of a new Japan. I mean…I can understand why. The dead coming back to life, society collapsing, morals thrown out the window, one would need comfort to survive. But an idea like that is beyond radical. It’s…Nazi-like” Akiko sheathed the blade, gently placing it on the table. Jima entered the armory, and picked up a handgun. “Admiral told us we need to arm ourselves. In case something happens…you don’t think something WILL happen, do you?” he asked nervously. Jae Eun checked her Walther PPK and replied, “With as psychotic as this Captain Norugana sounds, he is itching for a confrontation. I think we will have to either stand and fight, or run. To be honest, running all around the ocean is not my idea of living. Constant fear eats at you” Akiko checked her holster, and slid in her SIG P239. “Well, if they want a fight, I will give them one” she announced, picking up a FN P90. “I am tired of being in constant fear. Tired of running and hiding. Tired of not even being able to have a future, due to the fear of it being taken away. I would rather fight, and die, than be a coward for the rest of my life. If the JOC want a fight, then they can have one” Jae Eun picked up an AKMS and replied, “I stand with her too! Not just for me, but for the man I love!” Jima, and the other crew members picked up a rifle and raised them in the air, shouting, “WE STAND FOR JUN! WE STAND FOR LIFE VERSUS DEATH!” Kasune rolled her eyes and checked her pistol, while Haruna shushed the group. “Look, I know you are stir-crazy, and itching for a fight. But keep this in mind: they have deck guns. We don’t. They have an ARMY, we have volunteers who can shoot straight. They have the tactical advantage, and we are a large target out here. Sure, we have the advantage with our aircraft, but they are far better armed and equipped. It would be a slaughter. I understand why you are wishing to stand up and fight, but it would be a fruitless endeavor” Jima piped up with, “Maybe Ronin can take out the Serizawa! Then we would be set!” Haruna looked him in the eye, and sadly commented, “I hope so too…I really do” =================================== Jun and Sung-min were approaching the Shinda aboard the Hajimune, which they decided not to sink due to the tactical advantage it had, when a dense fog rolled in. “Christ, I can’t see anything!” complained the midshipman navigating the ship, while Jun asked, “Where did this come from?!” Sung-min used his hands to wave the fog away, replying, “We must be a mile or two away from the shore. Fog usually rolls down from the nearby mountains and billows on the water. It should pass relatively soon” Jun squinted, trying to see through the dense cloud, when the midshipman shouted, “We have a contact ahead of us!” Jun ran to the command deck, and looked at the screen. “Do we have an ID?” he asked, prompting the midshipman to shake his head. “No sir we…wait…no…” he murmured. Jun looked at the ID that popped up on the screen: JSDF Serizawa. “Sir, another contact is ahead of the Serizawa…it’s a quarter of a mile away…it’s the Shinda, sir” Jun’s face flushed white, and he felt a knot tie in his stomach. “They found us…” he said to himself. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead Japan: The confrontation everyone feared happens, and the consequences will be bloody.

NEW CAST: Ambassador Lee- Seohyun Ensign Emiko Yamaguchi - Nanao Arai Summary: The confrontation everyone feared happens, and the consequences will be bloody.
Episode 308 – Point of No Return
Yamamoto was awakened from his slumber by a frantic Jima, who shouted, “THE SERIZAWA FOUND US!!!” The Admiral shot up out of his cot and threw on his jacket. Crew members ran to the flight deck, and watched as the fog slowly curled away, revealing the enemy battleship, the decks lined with armed soldiers, and several deck cannons aimed at the aircraft carrier. Haruna and Kasune made it to the flight deck, and upon seeing the enemy vessel, gasped in horror. On the Serizawa, Genji and Mesuji watched the crew on the Shinda gather on the flight deck, bustling about with a mix of confusion and fear. Mesuji grinned and commented, “Look at the tiny ants…afraid of the boot about to end their existence” Genji waved towards a squad of soldiers. “When I give the order, board the ship and slaughter everyone aboard” Ronin, who was handcuffed to a guard rail frantically shouted, “Let them plead a case for god’s sake! You can’t throw away your honor just like that!” Hogun unsheathed his large curved dagger and placed it against his throat. “I think it’s time we kill this Yakuza pig, Priestess” he growled. Genji approached Ronin and leaned in close to his face. “Why would we do that? What would that gain us?” Ronin squirmed under the pressure of the pressed blade and spat, “You want the Showa era back? We had honor and dignity. Let the man speak GODDAMMIT!” Genji chuckled and pulled Hogun’s knife down away from Ronin’s throat. “You have an excellent point. Besides, seeing that man beg for his life is something I would never want to miss” He turned to an airman, and ordered, “Send them a radio. I want to talk to the man myself” =================================== Yamamoto watched as an unmanned drone helicopter dropped a small package on the flight deck, before flittering off back to the Serizawa. He opened the package, and found a radio with a note which read: “Dial into frequency 4. I want to have a chat. ~Mamakomo” Yamamoto dialed into the frequency, while Soo Yung, armed with a rifle, gathered with a group of armed volunteers, ready for any JOC incursion that might happen. Akiko met with Ambassador Lee, and whispered, “We need to get off this ship before they start shelling us. How can we do that undetected?” Lee remembered something and brought her to the 4th from the bottom deck. She opened a door and showed a large room, with a wall covered with a canvas tarp. She tore it down to reveal a rectangular airtight door, with the words, “EVACUATION HATCH” Akiko gawked at it and asked, “Why not tell us about this beforehand?” Lee grew embarrassed, and replied, “Because this is technically not the standard. This was an experimental idea: a hatch with numerous escape rafts, all equipped with enough food and clean water to last a week. They can each hold 8 people at max. And…there are 25 of these. Enough to get almost everyone off the ship. But, we should focus on getting the women, children and ill aboard these, while Yamamoto stalls” Akiko nodded. “Then let’s evacuate as many as we can!” ===================================== Jun and Sung-min quickly climbed aboard the Shinda, via an access ladder near the back of the ship, and saw the Serizawa’s deck guns aimed at the hull of the carrier. “Christ if they fire those, the secondary explosions will obliterate the entire ship!” gasped Jun. Sung-min pulled up his field binoculars and looked at the command deck on the battleship. “I see a dressed up guy, the good doctor…and Ronin” he passed the glasses to Jun, who also saw Ronin. “How the hell did he get caught?” he asked. They ran to the command deck and met up with Jae Eun and Haruna. “Where is Shinji?” asked Sung-min looking around. Haruna shook her head, causing Jun to sink into a slight depression. “Christ…” he murmured. Yamamoto dialed into the station and said: “This is Admiral Yamamoto, commander and chief of the vessel Shinda. I am, I assume, speaking to Captain Norunaga?” the radio replied, “Not quite. You see, the good Captain was much like you: a failure. And what do I do with failures? I remove them. So, now I, Genji Mamakomo, the new Emperor of Japan, have taken command of this vessel. And… if you want to live, I suggest you surrender yourself and your crew. I assure you, besides you of course, your crew would be treated with the utmost care and respect. After all why would I kill people who could prove useful to me?” Yamamoto responded with: “Useful how? As experiments? I know about that BITCH Mesuji being with you and controlling the situation. I think using my people as lab rats will only dwindle your number of available thralls in your new empire, don’t you think?” Genji warmly replied, “You aren’t wrong there. But…the need to use human experimentation is done. The cure is complete. And it works as intended, Admiral” Jun, who had overheard the news ran up to Yamamoto. “She completed it?!” he asked, stunned. Yamamoto demanded, “How do we know you aren’t lying? The cure was not viable when she was working in Tokyo, so what could have made it work now?” Mesuji took Genji’s radio and said soothingly, “It does in fact work. In fact, we tested the cure on living, young subjects” she brought out a young child, around the age of 4, and spoke into the radio, “As you can see, no sudden ill effects. No side effects. My cure works, and everyone given the treatment would survive” she handed the radio to Genji who broke the silence with: “So, now you see that no harm would come to your crew. I am not a monster, Admiral. But, I am one who understands the need for sacrifice” Jun grabbed Yamamoto’s shoulder. “We can’t let him get the passengers. He will kill everyone who stands in his way. We need to have an escape plan” Yamamoto nodded and told Haruna “Get everyone to the 14th level. Lee will have a plan in action already if I know her like I do” Jun pulled out his pistol. “We can pick off the supposed Emperor from here…kill him and then Mesuji. Cut the head off the snake and we can end it” Yamamoto shook his head. “Killing him would result in the Board firing on us immediately. We need to get as many off this boat as possible” Jun frustratedly barked, “But Admiral come on! We could-” Yamamoto grabbed his collar and angrily replied, “I did this. This is entirely my fault, Masumoto. You’re in charge now. Get everyone out of here, NOW!” Jun nodded and ran to his group and told them to get to the 14th level. Meanwhile, Genji noticed the movement and called through the radio, “Admiral, I hope you aren’t doing anything stupid. It would be in your best interest to simply give up now. Prevent later bloodshed down the road, wouldn’t you think?” Mesuji ordered a nearby soldier “Take Ronin here to the confinement cell. He will see the failure from a live streamed television in his cell” Ronin angrily shouted, “You aren’t going to be merciful at all!” Suddenly, the child spoke up. “Doctor, I have a bad feeling in my head” Mesuji turned and saw a large stream of blood drip from her nose. Her eyes then began to drip blood, and the child cried out, “I can’t see!!” Mesuji panicked and placed her ear against the chest of the child. The heart beat was going at nearly 4 beats her second, and the child then vomited blood near Mesuji, before collapsing. Ronin looked on with horror, and muttered aloud, “You cure…it failed” Mesuji shot him a frustrated look, and ordered through the intercom nearby: “Execute the patients in block 3” The person on the other end responded, “But…that’s the whole group of children! What happened?” Mesuji angrily screamed, “JUST KILL THOSE BRATS! THE CURE NEEDS MORE REFINEMENT!” with the person on the other end replying “As you wish” Ronin angrily snarled, “So this is what your empire is built on? Death and experimentation ON CHILDREN?! The cure will never work!! When we die, we will turn!!!!” Mesuji slapped him and looked down at the dead child at her feet. The body fluttered to life, and was put down instantly by Hogun, who looked at the visibly upset Mesuji. ============================================================ Shinji and Emiko meanwhile saw the two ships anchored apart from other, with Emiko quietly begging Shinji, “Please! Don’t let me back on the Serizawa! If Momoko ever found out I abandoned my post he would execute me, and then you. We have to avoid him and his crew” Shinji looked towards the Shinda, and pointed out, “Those rafts…those are from home” while pulling out his field spectacles. He noticed along the bottom of the ship under the overhang of the flight deck numerous rafts filled with black armored soldiers, all armed with rifles. Shinji ducked as they approached, with Emiko taking his pistol. “Pretend you are my prisoner” she quietly ordered. Shinji nodded, and held his hands up as they came close to the other rafts. A JOC soldier saw Shinji and laughed. “Soldier, looks like you got a live one. When we board the ship, you will stay here and guard him” Emiko asked, “When will you board?” prompting the soldier to reply, “When the Emperor gives the order…which should be soon” ====================================================== Yamamoto spoke into the radio, again trying to plead for mercy. “Look, Genji, we have known each other for over 20 years. You know I am a man of my word, and I knew you as being the same way. Still, I can’t help but shake the feeling you would stab me in the back as soon as I turn my crew over to you. I need reassurances you will keep your honor and leave my crew and passengers who sought asylum unharmed. Genji, can I get that?” There was radio silence, followed by a short “We have a contact to the south!” Yamamoto and Genji on their respective ships looked and saw a small Chinese vessel approaching them, with several soldiers dressed in tan and red uniforms manning the decks. “Shit! What are the Chinese doing here?” thundered Genji, as the Chinese vessel, a 054A frigate Jiangkai II-class cruiser named the Jao Xiong, slowly pulled up beside the Serizawa. Harsh Chinese soon scraped through a loud speaker, soon followed with, “This is the PLAN JAO XIONG: Stand down and be prepared to be processed” Genji picked up the radio and replied, “Of course. Anything for the communist motherland” He leaned over to a tech, and whispered, “Destroy those thieving Chinese bastards. I want to show the Shinda what will happen if they keep stalling” One of main deck cannons on the Serizawa groaned to life as it swerved and aimed at the Jao Xiong. The soldiers began to fire on the Serizawa, as the main gun on the Chinese ship fired, striking the side of the much larger battleship. The main guns roared to life, sending 4 large shells shrieking into the hull of the Chinese vessel, causing a massive explosion, and making the ship crumple into two chunks, which soon sunk into the ocean amidst a bath of fire & screaming soldiers. Genji proudly proclaimed into the radio, “Dear Yamamoto, that pile of wasted junk we blew to hell was a prime example of what would occur if you keep yanking our chain. So if you don’t surrender within 10 minutes, we will fire upon you” From the other end, a defeated Yamamoto replied, “I will need only 5 of those minutes, Mamakomo” Genji grinned, and ordered, “Ready the deck guns anyways. Something tells me he is planning something over there” ---------------------------------------------------------------- Yamamoto ran down to the 14th level to see most of the families in rafts, with Akiko and Haruna assisting them in preparing to leave. Ambassador Lee looked at Yamamoto and asked, “Genji made a deal with you?” Yamamoto nodded. “I am handing myself over. And as soon as you are clear, I am blowing the reactor, taking both us and the Serizawa out” Akiko gawked at the Admiral and blurted out, “What about the radiation from the reactor? Won’t there be fallout?” Yamamoto shook his head. “NO. The reactor was shut down, but many of the more volatile ordinances we have aboard will cause a large enough eruption to kill everyone on board” Haruna bolted towards him. “AND RONIN?! Is he to just die on there?” Yamamoto scoffed at her. “For all we know he is dead! He might not be captured and you have no way of knowing for sure!” Haruna angrily stormed off, and Lee raised her arm, and the dropped it, shouting, “Rafts 1-10 leave NOW!” The hatch flung open, with Lee looking to the ocean below. A suppressed shot pinged through the air, and the top of her skull blasted off. He body toppled into the water, with Yamamoto looking down. A single JOC wetworks soldier was climbing the service ladder, when he was pull up through the hatch and flung into the wall. The soldier shot wildly, landing a hit on a ducking civilian. Yamamoto pulled out his knife and stabbed him in the eye. Taking the soldier’s pistol as he struggled in his final moments, he shot him in the head, blood spraying on his face. “GO NOW!” he roared to the civilians. The rafts plopped out into the ocean, with people scrambling to stay on them. Yamamoto clicked on his radio. “So you have soldiers at the ready? What about your supposed honor?” On the Serizawa, Genji chuckled and replied, “We never agreed on anything. You have 4 minutes now, Yamamoto. You better use them wisely” ========================================= Ronin was being escorted to his cell, when the ship rocked from the Chinese vessel shooting them. He took advantage of the distraction to headbutt the soldier, and grab the cuff’s keys. He quickly unlatched them, and kicked the soldier in the chin. Taking his dragon 1911 the soldier had on him, the drug him in a closet, and stripped off his clothes, being careful to snap the soldier’s neck. “Now to find the munitions room, and blow it to hell and back!” he said to himself as he navigated his way through the halls. Mesuji and Genji watched the wetworks soldiers climb aboard, but then saw a small group gather in the main control deck. She squinted and saw families passing by the window. “Yamamoto, what are you doing?” she whispered to herself. ====================================================== Jun and Sung-min geared up and prepared to go out guns blazing, when Yamamoto thundered up the steps and roared, “They have wet work soldiers climbing aboard! Bastard is invading the ship to make sure I do as he wants me to!” Jun looked at the families rushing past him and proclaimed “We will deal with them somehow” Yamamoto looked at him and confessed, “I don’t know what else to say to Genji. I am too scared and defeated to reason with him” ===================================================== Back on the Serizawa, Ronin slid through the door and into the Engine room. Several engineers were slaving over the fuel tanks gages and pumps, with no one paying any real attention to him. Ronin looked through his stolen vest’s pockets for something explosive, and found a chunk of timed plastic explosive sealed in a bag. A foreman approached him and shouted, “HEY YOU!” Ronin turned to see the foreman hold out a pipe. “Have a light?” he asked, which Ronin obliged him, taking a lighter and lighting his pipe. “Aren’t you afraid this will cause an explosion?” Ronin asked. The foreman shook his head. “This is a new type of fuel which is only explosive if exposed to the air for too long” Ronin nodded and tipped his hat, ducking into an office nearby. A technician demanded, “Who the hell are you?”, but was silenced by Ronin who snapped his neck. He looked at the console in front of him, and saw that it was for fuel dispersion. He punched in a few numbers, and saw the fuel begin to dwindle from the other tanks and into the main tank, causing the pressure to build. He left, and pretended to trip, planting the plastic explosive on the thinner metal part of the main tank as he picked himself up. He found the detonator, and prepped the switches. He made his way to the main deck, slipping past any soldiers that might recognize him. He clicked on the switch, preparing to flick the toggle up. “This is it” he told himself, as he prepared to do the deed. ======================================= Shinji and Emiko found the anchored Hajimura and climbed aboard. “We can pick up any survivors from here!” exclaimed Shinji, with Emiko nodding in agreement. “We must stay out of range for the moment. Maybe they will come to an agreement, and leave in peaceful terms” she said hopefully. Shinji watched the two ships facing off, and loudly gulped. “I don’t think that is going to happen, Emiko” he muttered. ================================ Jun grabbed the radio from Yamamoto and spoke into it: “Genji Mamkomo. My name is Jun Masumoto, son of Toro Masumoto. I know things between our two peoples are strained. But this world we live in is not the old world, where wars and feuds were fought with reckless abandon. The dead out number us and fighting only causes their numbers to swell. I know you want to make an empire based on the Showa period, and I know you want to make the cure viable. But we need to stick together as one unit. Put faside our differences and become a single body. Blood has been spilt, yes, but we still have time to make good on our past grievances. Genji…if you put down your guns, stand down, and join us in creating a better world, you could be my brother in this new world” On the Serizawa’s intercom system, Jun continued: “We can come back from this. We are not yet monsters and hollow souls. We have the prime chance at this moment, to unite, and create something better than what stood before. All I am asking is that we band together, instead of fighting. What do you have to say in response, Genji?” Genji looked at Mesuji, who smiled. “I think we should take them up on their offer, your highness” Genji replied to Jun: “Wise words from a wise man. I think you are a better leader than Yamamoto is. But…I am afraid, Masumoto, I will have to decline your kind offer” He looked towards the gunnery officer and nodded once. The officer, over the intercom shouted only one word to the men on the deck: “FIRE!” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: The battle everyone feared arrives. Episode 309- To the Depths We Depart Thee
Shinji and Emiko were waiting for some response from either ship, with deafening silence piercing the air around them. “What is going on now?” asked Shinji with Emiko peering through her binoculars. “Nothing is happening at the moment. Wait…the Serizawa’s crew is in motion and…no…” Shinji snatched the binoculars from her and peeped through them, seeing the crew loading shells and preparing the deck guns as they swiveled back to face the Shinda. “Oh god they are planning on opening fire on them!” Shinji exclaimed. Emiko panicked and gasped, “We have to warn them before-” They were interrupted by the Serizawa opening fire. The deck guns on the Serizawa roared to life, spewing death and destruction as large white hot shells sailed towards the Shinda, slamming into the hull causing massive eruptions within the levels. Crewmen and soldiers were sent flying into the walls, blown to pieces, or shredded by shrapnel. Immediately the remaining crew scrambled to assess the damage, as blood and twisted metal lay strewn across the decks, the open air hitting their faces. Jun and Sung-min readied their rifles and saw several soldiers climbing aboard from the rafts below. One by one JOV soldier fell to the defender’s gun fire, while snipers on the Serizawa began to pick off anyone in their sights, a young woman to Sung-Min’s right being one. A sniper’s bullet swished past Jun’s head, forcing him to retreat inside as more Shinda personnel fell to the hail of death. JOC soldiers swarmed aboard as another round of deck gun fire slammed into the hull of the Shinda, sending more men, women and children to their deaths. The screams of the dying and wounded echoed in the air, as the JOC soldiers gunned anyone in their path down. Soo Yung, hiding behind a computer console was approached by a soldier, a woman no older than 20, and was promptly shot without hesitation. Soo Yung’s lifeless corpse fell to the floor, blood pooling on the floor under her. Jun saw the death and shot the woman in the head, screaming in anger as the JOC slowly infested the top levels of the Shinda. The deck guns fell silent, having crippled the navigation and primary power systems of the aircraft carrier while more soldiers poured onto the ship. Genji Mamakomo gleefully grinned and ordered through the radio: “Leave Yamamoto and Jun Masumoto alive. I want to personally execute them myself. As for the others…” The women and children aboard the Shinda were being executed as his final order resounded through each soldier’s radio: “…kill the rest. Women, men and children. Leave none alive to tell the tale” A soldier stepped on a bloody and now childless stuffed doll, as they searched the ship. Jun and Sung-min watched as bullets and blood were exchanged, as both Shinda crew and JOC soldiers fell to each other’s fire. They retreated to the 6th level, with the remaining crew attempting to evacuate through the 14th level hatch. Bokune and a few others aimed their guns at Jun and the survivors as they closed the door to the 5th level. “You brought this upon us!” Bokune snarled, clicking back the hammer “And maybe, if we bring them yours and Yamamoto’s head, we will be spared. Worth a try!” A shot pierced the air, and Bokune fell dead, shot in the head by Akiko who ran up to join them. “We can’t be like this! We either stick together or die! Now we fight these bastards or we end up like him. What do you choose?” The other men lowered their rifles and blocked the door. “We will not let them pass, Mr. Masumoto” one said. Another piped up: “You are our Admiral now. We will follow you” Jun nodded in gratitude, and passed by them, with Akiko and Sung-min following. Jun then said, “We are going to get every last child and woman out of here alive and away from both Mesuji and Mamakomo. Even if we die doing so in the process” One man asked, “Why do this? We aren’t your family or group members” Jun swallowed and heard the JOC soldiers thundering down the steps to fight them, replying, “Because it’s what my father would have done in my shoes” ========================================== Yamamoto, who had been thrown across the engineering room when the shells hit, awoke to chaos and engineers running about, fires everywhere on board. He stood up and noticed a thin, jagged piece of metal had sliced open his left arm, which he then tied up with his shirt. He pulled aside an engineer and demanded, “What is going on?” The frightened engineer replied, “The JOC are boarding and killing people on every level! We need to reach level 14 and evacuate!” Yamamoto looked out the gaping hole the shell had gone through and responded, “We will, but after we make sure to sink the ship. They can’t use the Shinda as a siren’s song to lure unaware people seeking refuge, only to end up Mesuji’s lab rats! We have to blow the primary fuel tanks, ensign” The engineer stared at him, shakily replying, “But that will cause the nuclear material to be shot into the air! How could people survive that fallout?” Yamamoto pointed to a document in his hand. “This loss of power instantly closed the lead lined blast doors, sealing the reactor core in a makeshift sarcophagus. Any radiation will be trapped. Now…how are we going to blow the fuel, ensign?” =============================================== Onboard the Serizawa, Ronin saw more soldiers rushing up the decks, most likely readying themselves for boarding the nearby ship. Slipping through the door of one room, he saw a small man shuffling through papers looking for a weapon. He looked up and saw Ronin, spitting, “YOU! I remember you!” Ronin glared at him “Doramu the pilot. Still a sniveling little weasel as always. Tell me, what do you have planned for us once we are dead, hmm? And where are the Board?” Doramu cackled, “Why, only to enjoy the finest selection of women! I am here to make history, and a figure such as myself deserves such rewards. As for the Board, they are on the 4 level…not that you would even reach them before-” His speech was cut short by Ronin who shot him in the eye unceremoniously. “Piece of shit” he angrily scowled. He looked at his detonator, seeing the timer clicking down. 5 minutes left. He heard guards rushing to see what had happened, and quickly hid behind the door. The guards observed the scene, with Jun quietly aiming his pistol through the door. He braced himself and fired three shots, with all three shots killing the guards. His ears rung and the burst of hot air caused him to choke as he closed the door. After his ears stopped ringing he ran out the door, heading for the 4th level. ============================================ Genji received over the radio the message: “The main 5 levels have been secured. We are securing the latter 13 levels as we speak. Over” Genji grinned, but his face fell when Mesuji walked up to him and said, “I am going over there to see the rest of the work done myself. Hogun of course will protect me” Genji sighed and nodded. “Go. But come back if things get too hairy” Mesuji and Hogun then boarded a small copter, which flew over to the Shinda, landing on the main flight deck with JOC soldiers guarding the craft. She and Hogun stepped out and headed towards the main control tower stepping over both defender and JOC corpses along the way. Jun meanwhile ran to the 14th level to find Kasune, Takeshi, Haruna and Jima getting the last of the families on the escape rafts. “Is that all of them?” he asked, with Kasune replying, “We forgot 2 wings. The 13th and 11th levels each have a section sealed off due to the power being cut. There might still be people trapped there!” Jun nodded. “Alright I will go get them” Jima grabbed his shoulder. “You should be here pushing back the JOC soldiers! Kasune and I can go to the 13th level and check” Sung-min and Akiko ran up. “And we can check the 11th level. Don’t worry man, we’ve got this!” Sung-min coolly told Jun, who smiled and reloaded his rifle. He then looked around. “Where is Jae Eun?!” He dialed into his radio and yelled, “Jae Eun! Where are you?” A muffled voice replied, “I am on the top deck, hiding. They haven’t found me yet, but they are searching for anyone who might be hiding in spaces…oh god they are here” Jun clicked off the radio and ran to the door. “Takeshi, stay here!” he barked as he ran up the stairs. Takeshi’s radio clicked on, with a familiar voice singing through the speaker. “I have one Nurse Momoko here who will get shot if any survivors listening to this message decide not to show themselves. You can do this the easy way, or we can go through this ship and fill it with explosives, blowing all of you to hell” ( BREAK HERE FOR PART 2) Jae Eun was in the same room as Mesuji and the JOC soldiers holding Momoko hostage, hiding in a tiny storage cubby hole sealed with a shaded grate. Mesuji looked down at the sobbing Momoko and asked, “Why are you so scared, beautiful?” Momoko, through the tears blubbered, “Because you are going to kill me and everyone aboard!!!” Takeshi barked into the radio, “Stop it! I am the only one here. All the rest evacuated earlier or died. You want the last passenger, you can have him. Just leave her alive, please!” There was silence. A gunshot was heard, followed by a light thump. Mesuji had shot Momoko, spraying blood across her face. “That was me not thinking you are genuine. But nice try anyways. You will have plenty of company soon enough” Jae Eun covered her mouth in an attempt to not scream, infuriated and horrified by what she had witnessed. ==================================== Sung-min and Akiko found the door sealed, and noticed the manual override handle hadn’t yet been tripped. Sung-min pulled the handle and the door groaned open, revealing an empty room. Akiko turned to leave when she felt a sharp pain in her chest. She looked down and saw a large knife was buried deep in her heart, seeing as she looked up to see that Hogun had stabbed her. He threw her across the room and lunged at Sung-min, punching him in the gut. Sung-min half recovered and pounced on him, savagely beating him and attempting to stab him with his own knife. Hogun used his bulk to throw him to the side, and kicked him on the chest knocking the wind out of him. Sung-min stood weakly and threw a desperate punch, only to have it caught and have a larger fist slam into his face. He was cradling his face and saw Hogun pick up a discarded pistol as he stood in front of him. “I know she is dying, but look on the bright side, she will soon die...and you will turn with her. Together in death as in life” he taunted, pulling back the hammer of the gun and pushing the barrel against his head. A turned crew member took Hogun’s attention away from Sung-min as he wrestled with it trying not to get bitten. Sung-min picked up a shattered florescent tube ceiling light and slammed it into Hogun’s back. Hogun reeled back in pain, and the walker took the opportunity to bite off a large chunk of his chest. Hogun shot the walker and turned to fight Sung-min but instead ran into knife which entered his cheek. Sung-min, with the ferociousness of a rabid dog pulled the knife towards him, slicing open Hogun’s cheeks. He then stabbed his left leg, dropping Hogun to his knees and proceeded to hold the knife over his eye. “You won’t be turning that’s for sure you piece of shit!” he snarled as he slammed the blade deep into Hogun’s eye, finally killing him. He let the body slide to the floor and went over to the dying Akiko. She was gargling blood, and a large thick pool of it was around her as Sung-min knelt down to her. “Stay with me babe, come on!” he shouted. Akiko, losing ground every second, build up the strength to say: “I love...” She then passed in his arms. Sung-min grabbed the knife from the floor nearby and somberly stabbed her in the temple, to prevent reanimation. A note tumbled out of her pocket, along with a necklace. He picked both of them up and stuffed them in his pocket, attempting to process what had happened, while tears rolled down his face. ====================================== Kasune and Jima were pinned by JOC soldiers, when a door finally swung open. Kasune grabbed Jima’s arm and shouted, “COME ON THIS WAY!” as she bolted towards the door. Jima followed as the soldiers shot at them frantically. She heard a soft thump and instantly felt a heavy weight drag her arm down. She looked behind her to see Jima had been shot in the head, and that she was dragging his corpe along. She let go and shot a soldier running towards her. “Oh god no…” she said, horrified. She then saw that the door she was heading for had been opened, and a pool of blood trickled from the entrance crack. She saw a service ladder leading down to the 14th level and climbed down it, horrified by what she saw. ============================================ Ronin snuck up to the door, which was marked, “Board Meeting Room: Authorized Personnel Only” He pressed his ear against the door and heard muttering and arrogant laughter. He opened the door and held out two grenades. “I heard you wanted a victory meal. I could only scrape these together. Sorry” he then threw the grenades in the room and quickly barred the door with a nearby chair. A muffled explosion was heard, and the brief screams and yells of the terrified Board were silenced. He looked at his timer: 10 seconds. He heard several guards approaching and counted down the time. He ran out the door and went outside, looking over the railing to check the height. The timer ticked down. 4,3,2. 1. He braced himself and prepared to jump into the ocean. The middle of the Serizawa shook violently, as the top of the command tower erupted into a shower of twisted metal and fire. Genji noticed this and franticly shouted, “Get me to land!” as he ran to the Osprey. Several JOC soldiers joined him, but Genji tripped and saw a fireball fly past him, hitting him in the face and severely burning him. He was carried into the Osprey screaming as it took off, away from the exploding ship and into parts unknown. Ronin saw this while hanging on the railing and was about to jump off, when the center of the Serizawa exploded, causing the ship to fold inwards as crewmen and metal were strewn about. The explosions triggered the shells to pop, sending large rounds flying through the ship and shredding it. The shockwave struck him, and he was thrown into darkness, as the waves carried him away from the carnage. ============================================ Jun heard the explosion and saw the JOC soldiers in disarray. “The Serizawa exploded! What are we going to do now?” one asked while they scrambled to call any remaining rafts so they could escape. Jun creaked open the door, and saw 4 JOC soldiers in the control room along with Mesuji, who tapped her foot against a square grate near the floor. Jae Eun, who was in the grate, tried not to cry out or make a noise, while Mesuji knelt down and flashed a light inside, revealing a hiding Jae Eun. Mesuji smiled and cooed softly, “Why hello there gorgeous. Why are you hiding in there, you should come out and join us” She waved for a soldier to rip off the grate and pull her out, holding a gun to her head. Mesuji whispered in her ear, “You know this would have gone smoother if you had just revealed yourself from the start” Jae Eun looked at Momoko’s corpse and spat angrily, “And end up dead like her?! You think you are winning, but in the end, after this is all said and done, we are all going to become walkers. Including you!” Mesuji took out her pistol and pulled back the hammer, placing the warm barrel against her head. There was a shot, and Mesuji watched as the JOC soldier next to her collapsed, having been shot by an unknown enemy. She looked towards the door and saw Jun gunning down the other 3 soldiers before pointing the revolver in his hand at her. Mesuji aimed her pistol at Jae Eun and smugly told Jun, “I think before this is over, you will know true loss, won’t you Masumoto? She must be quite special for you to rick her life like this” Jae Eun turned and grabbed the gun, wrenching it out of Mesuji’s hand and slamming her fist into Mesuji’s face. Jun meanwhile was distracted by 3 walkers who used to be JOC and Shinda soldiers, one of which grabbed his arm and tried to take a bite. Jun shot that walker, and used the butt of his gun to cave in the skull of another, with the 3rd walker getting shot in the forehead, dropping it. Jae Eun and Mesuji exchanged blows, with Jae Eun landing her blows with an unseen ferocity. She grabbed a long shard of glass and stabbed Mesuji in the sternum, causing Mesuji to scream in pain. Jae Eun stood and ran over to embrace Jun who ran a bloody hand down her hair. “Come on, let’s get out of here. The Shinda is done for” they walked out onto the flight deck when the Serizawa again exploded, sending hot jagged metal flying on top of the flight deck. Jun saw a rope leading down to a raft, and pulled out his radio, overlooking the oily fire enveloping the sides of the Shinda. “Mom, Takeshi, Kasune, Sung-min, Akiko, anyone?! Are you in a safe place? The ship is heating up and about to blow. Leave now!!!!” ====================================== Takeshi and Haruna climbed into the escape raft, and shoved off the side, plopping into the water below. The current was strong, but Takeshi was too mortified to pay attention. Haruna clung to him, tears in her eyes as they washed away to parts unknown. Kasune ran through the ship, and ran into the butt of a rifle, as a JOC soldier held her at gunpoint. “Too bad babe” he told her as he racked a shot. He was then shoved into the wall and stabbed in the head by Sung-min, who grabbed his rifle and ammo, offering her a hand. “Come on…there is nothing left here” he told her gravely as they ran to get aboard a raft. He perked his head up. “Jima?” he asked, receiving a shake of Kasune’s head. “Where is Akiko?” Kasune questioned Sung-min, who bit his lip. “She didn’t make it either…” Yamamoto looked down at his feet, seeing the bodies of dead engineers, crew members, soldiers, civilians, and even children. He felt tears stream from his eyes, an overwhelming sense of failure and shame sweeping over his thoughts as he looked up to see 3 JOC soldiers surround him, shouting, “We might as well kill him!” Yamamoto smiled and held up a switch, replying calmly, “You boys won’t need to do that” followed by him flicking the switch. ============================================ Jun put down the radio and gritted his teeth, growling “Dammit all” A single shot sang through the constant noise and Jun felt in his side a sharp pain. He then looked down to see blood pouring from a gunshot wound. Jae Eun looked behind them to see Mesuji, her gun aimed at her next. “I could have saved Japan! I could have done it!” she screamed as she readied her next shot. Yamamoto flicked the switch, and the Shinda’s fuel tanks inside the ship, along with the munitions stored on the 5th level exploded, causing a massive eruption of shrapnel to blow behind Mesuji. She screamed as the storm of metal and fire enveloped her and threw her into the ocean below, her body in fire as she was flung into the water. Jae Eun helped a bleeding Jun up as they climbed down the ladder. They made it into the raft and using the onboard motor they buzzed away as the Shinda again violently exploded, breaking the ship in two and causing the sea around them to become a minefield of metal and burning debris. Jae Eun looked back and began to cry, as Jun cradled his wound. “It’s over now…” he muttered as he passed out, with Jae Eun screaming his name, trying to keep him conscious. ======================================================================== On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: (Redacted) struggles to survive the harsh world haunted by memories & hunted by both the living and the dead.

Episode 310- The Lone Wolf
Ronin awoke, gasping for air as the waterfront’s waves lapped at his feet. He picked himself up, and saw the Serizawa’s bow slowly slip into the water. The sound of internal explosions and screamed resounded through the nearby mountains, and he noticed several items washing ashore. He walked over and picked up a field shovel, and an MRE from a dying JOC soldier, whose torso was blown to pieces. His pistol was still holstered, so he ignored the Glock next to his feet. He picked up an MP5 and checked the magazine, only to find it expended. He tossed the gun and saw a small herd of walkers approaching from the nearby highway. He aimed his gun and pulled the trigger, but the gun remained lifeless. He hid behind a hunk of the Serizawa’s hull, while the herd slogged past him. He ducked out and finally found another MP5, which was fully loaded. He began to walk away from the coastline when he heard a faint “Help” coming from nearby. He walked over and found someone very surprising: Dr. Mesuji, but now wholly burnt, with her legs and her right arm blown away, now charred lumps. Her burnt rags dripped with muddy water as she reached at him with her intact left arm. “Please…Ronin…kill me” she weakly begged as water sloshed around her face. Ronin found a satchel nearby and searched it, finding a single needle full of the prototype IHV Antigen 001. “All this death for what, your ego?” he quietly snarled at her. He popped off the top of the needle and said, “I think you should try your own cure, doc” he said, firmly placing his hand on her head, forcing her down. He then slammed the needle into her temple, and through the brain, injecting the serum into her body. She gasped as the liquid shot through her brain, and began to gargle blood, while Ronin walked away, leaving her to be consumed by nearby walkers. He walked into the woods, as night began to fall. He suddenly felt a sharp pain, and looked down to his side, to see a piece of metal jutting out. He sat down, and relaxed, allowing the pain to subside, but it only became worse. “Shit!” he hissed through gritted teeth as he tugged at the metal piece. Blood seeped through his now soiled white shirt as he suddenly had a thought rush through his head. His father’s voice…. ========================================== “WEAKLING! Get up and ignore the pain!” his father ordered. He was suddenly back at his home, in Tokyo during his childhood. Ronin picked himself up, his nose bloody, he remembered. His father adjusted his tie and snarled, “You talk to me like that you little shit?” as a fist swung towards him, landing on his gut, sending the child flying. A woman, his mother ran up to his father and screamed, “Takayuki please! Stop it!” a flat palm embraced her cheek as she landed on the floor, sobbing. Takayuki turned to his son. “Weak bastard child! You are a soft, SCARED CHILD!” Ronin then remembered standing up and screaming, “YOU ARE WEAK FOR NOT ALLOWING ME TO SHOW MY ABILITIES!” Takayuki was taken aback, and smiled slightly, “Good work, Kobuke! Finally showing your true strength. Now, wipe the blood off your nose, and stop sniveling you little shit!” his father rumbled as his mother watched with horror. ========================================== Back at the present, Ronin yanked out the metal chunk and noticed the pain not crippling him. He stood and then screamed, as the pain suddenly came rushing forward. He bit down on a stick and wrapped his wounds with the tiny med kit he found on the dead JOC soldier. He then walked towards what appeared to be a building in the woods. He could feel the air become chillier, and rubbed his hands to keep warm. He then felt his mind wander back again… The air felt cold, and he rubbed his hands together, trying not to give away his discomfort to anyone around him. His Yakuza Sensei pointed to the woman in the window in front of them, as they watched a house. “The woman is a model” explained Ronin’s sensei “and she had cheated on a Yakuza member in favor of an American actor. Deal with her and send the message we are not to be crossed” Ronin quietly entered the house, and slipped behind her, raising the garrote over her head. He felt a rush, followed then by a pang of guilt as the model kept talking on her phone, ignoring anything around her. He then swallowed and slipped the wire between the phone and her neck, yanking hard and she fought back, kicking and gasping for air. He held on tight, until she stopped kicking, and fell limp to the floor. He looked out the window to see his sensei nod in approval. ====================================== A growl snapped Ronin out of his memory, and he saw a torn up walker shuffle towards him, his neck and face gnawed to pieces by some force. He pulled out his knife and raised it, but a surge of piercing pain crippled him, sending him doubling over as the walker attempted to bite him. He soldiered through the pain and swept the walker off its legs, and shoved the knife deep into its head. He saw where it had come from, a burnt out enclosure with the sign now laying face down on the leafy forest floor. He picked it up and saw that it read: “Tamoyuni Family Wolf Preservation Camp: Home of 20 Imported Wolves. Fun for the whole family!” He looked around and saw the forest begin to grow dark as the sun began to set. He wandered inside the building, the interior now burnt out from what seemed like a raging fire. He checked the security room, and saw it had been spared the flames that consumed the rest of the enclosure. A long dead walker laid on the floor, with what appeared to be a tape recorder in his pocket. Ronin sat on a nearby chair and picked up the recorder. The batteries were still good, and the latest entry was nearly 3 weeks ago. He rewound the tape to the 2nd to last recording and played it: “This is Dr. Io Tamoyuni. It’s been 4 weeks since the power died, and I am still trying to separate myself from these poor wolves! I can’t just leave them here to starve…WAIT! I can release them and then stay in here. I mean, what are the possible risks?” He then went to the last recording: “Oh god oh god oh god…The wolves are hunting ME now! I managed to lock myself in here, but my employee, Kubo, was eaten by the Alpha! God…I can’t let them come in…I have a knife, and I am not willing to turn after being eaten…to my adoring husband…forgive me” the tape then stopped, with Ronin then listening very closely to his environment. There was nothing outside, save to the creaking of the trees, and the howling of the wind. He found inside the locker 2 weapons: one being a hunting rifle, and the other a crossbow with a tranquilizer dart. He looked at the crossbow and tossed it aside. “Like I would ever use one of these things” he muttered. He found a fence in back, now open from the power locks being deactivated. He sat on a log, and felt himself drift back and forth in his mind. ========================================== “Kobuke my son! You have done so well as of late. But…you being my son means you also act as my voice to others” his father boomed, sipping on a cup of Sake. “Now…you being not only my tongue but my fist means you are to act with subdued restraint. A family of 3, all adult in age, is interfering with our business. I believe we are to silence them, no?” Ronin remembered nodding, and asking, “Remove all three, or keep one alive as a message?” his father replied with cold indifference, “Kill them all” He remembered sneaking into the empty house of the family, and feeling as if the house was familiar somehow. He saw a picture of what appeared to be a child on the desk across from him, and picked it up. He pulled the photo from the frame and read the back: “Bokune, aged 4. With mommy at waterpark” he remembered the water park, and the fuzzy face of the woman who took care of him. He always had an entourage, but this was one of the few times he was alone with someone else…“Mother?” he said to himself as he heard the door open. He hid in the closet, and heard someone enter the room. He silently pulled out his handgun and aimed it at the door, ready to kill anyone who opened the door. The footsteps approached the closet, and flung it open. His finger squeezed the trigger as his view was obscured by a coat. He heard a light thump, and brushed the coat aside to see who he had shot. A child, no more than 8, lay gasping for breath. He felt his stomach twist, and then saw the father enter the room. Before he could say a word, Ronin remembered shooting him in the heart, followed by a shot to the head. The wife, an older looking woman, entered and saw Ronin standing over the bodies. “BOKUNE! HOW COULD YOU?!” she screeched. He raised his gun and shot her in the heart. She fell to the floor and gargled blood. “…my own son…” she gasped, just before passing. Ronin took the picture and stuffed it in his wallet, a pang of grief and sickness in his stomach. He felt his face grow hot, and began to feel rage boil inside him. ========================================== He snapped out his memory, rubbing his head as it throbbed from the impact of landing on the water. He then heard something that sent a chill down his spine: the baying and howling of wolves. He looked at the nearby tree and grabbed the branch, pulling himself up, using his arms and hands to pull himself up. The hard bark dug into his hands, and eventually he got halfway up the tree. He looked down to see around 15 or so wolves run around the tree, sniffing and snarling. He felt his knife begin to slip out of his sheath, and grabbed it as it finally fell out. The wolves looked up and began to bark and roar, with Ronin spitting at them. He grunted, “Catch up here you filthy abominations!” as he noticed the branch he was on being rather thick and wide, wide enough for him to firmly sit. He felt the pull of sleep take him, and drifted to sleep, as the wolves circled tree below him. ================================================ “YOU WHAT!” he remembered his father scream at him. Ronin adjusted his tie and yelled, “I SHOT A KID FATHER, AND MY GODDAMN MOTHER TOO!” His father was relaxing with a half naked woman lying beside him, brushing his face seductively. “You were supposed to do the mission and go. You almost got caught! Now you have to clean it up with the police” The woman moaned, “Takayuki baby, I want to get on your manhood so badly!” His father replied sweetly, “Kasune honey, wait for me in my bedroom” prompting Kasune to stand up and leave, looking back at Ronin while winking. “Now…you want to leave this family. You can’t leave unless you start your own family, or die. Too much of a risk for me. Who knows who you will tell our secrets to?!” His father growled. “I don’t give a shit…” Ronin hissed between clenched teeth as he turned to leave. “You exit those doors, and you are no longer safe. You will be hunted by everyone. You will no longer have a master you filthy Ronin!” his father screamed. Ronin then left, slamming the doors shut. =============================== Ronin awoke to find the wolves gone. He climbed down the tree and saw lights in the distance, flickering on and off. He saw what appeared to be a blood trail leading to a bush. Before he could think about how he should proceed, a wolf lunged from the bushes and pushed him to the ground, snapping at his face. Ronin slammed his knife in the wolf’s head, with another 3 wolves running to aid their fallen comrade. Ronin stood and shot one in the head, while another clamped on his arm, trying to tear it off. He pistol whipped the wolf until it let go, and then shot it point blank. The third wolf snarled, while Ronin quickly pulled off his hunting rifle aiming it at the wolf’s head. The wolf lunged, and stopped cold when the barrel was shoved down its mouth. “Try this you mangy feral” he snarled angrily, pulling the trigger, sending the wolf’s brain all over the ground. He then heard a collection of guttural growls. He looked down at his wounded arm and felt tears fall from his face. A heard of walkers soon came thronging from the nearby road, and began to chase him. Ronin dropped the hunting rifle and ran, panting and wheezing from the exhaustion the wolf fight gave him. He ran, and began to have a series of memories swirl in his brain. “NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!” he screamed. =========================================== He fell against the wall, a group of Yakuza hitmen surrounding him. They holstered their guns and unsheathed each a knife. Suddenly a voice ordered, “HE IS MINE. STAND BACK!” The 6 hitman stood aside as a young man with a buzzed head and a baby face approached a beaten Ronin. “Our father is not to be disrespected like that. But…since you are blood I won’t spill your guts like a pig” He tossed Ronin a Katana and continued, “I will let you fight to the death. You will lose, and I will win. Still, a fair fight is only as honorable as the warriors” he drew his own sword and waited for Ronin to pick the blade up, forming a stance with the blade raised over his head. The brother, named Otogune, slashed his sword at Ronin, who dodged the swing and counter slashed, slicing open Otogune’s side. His younger brother groaned in pain, and angrily stabbed at Ronin who sidestepped him, cutting his brother’s chest and forearms. Otogune roared in pain and swung wildly, with Ronin countering every attack. Finally, Ronin saw Otogune reach for his gun and with one swift motion slashed off the younger man’s hand and stabbed him in the sternum. As Otogune fell to his knees, Ronin pulled the blade out and decapitated him. The other assassins lunged at him, knives drawn. After a moment, all 6 lay dead, with Ronin standing still, covered in blood. That night, he entered his father’s quarters and saw him sleeping with a much younger woman, no older than 18. The girl awoke and was startled by the entry. “Leave” hissed Ronin, with the girl obeying him. He picked up his father’s handgun, a 1911 with dark Purple Heart handles, the gold slide and barrel end resembling a dragon with its mouth open. He saw his father awaken, and sputter, “Kobuke…how did you…?” His son replied: “You forget, I am not Kobuke anymore. I am what you called me: a Ronin, aren’t I?” He then with zero hesitation or guilt shot his father in the head. The girl was huddled against the door, sobbing in terror. Ronin looked at her and muttered, “Leave now…while your consciousness is still intact” ===================================== He had outrun the walkers, and collapsed, panting and wheezing for air as his lungs screamed for air. He leaned against a tree, when he heard the sound of several small feet rushing towards him. He pulled out his knife and turned sharply, stabbing a wolf in the head, while another wolf rushed by him. He began to run again only to tumble into a shallow pit, filled with chalky mud. He wiped the mud off his face, and propped himself against something sticking out of the mud in order to escape. He heard a soft crunching noise and looked at what was in the pit with him: a pile of around 20+ corpses, shot in the head and dumped like trash in the pit. He gasped in horror and crawled his way out of the pit, panting rapidly, followed by him vomiting out of disgust. He looked up and saw a large, brown and grey wolf standing in front of him, a group of other wolves around him. “The alpha…wondered when you would show up” Ronin wheezed. He reached in his satchel, pulling out a roll of tape and a bottle of soda. He smashed the bottle against a tree, and taped the knife to his hand. He hunched down and growled, “Well you bastard, aren’t you hungry? COME ON!” The Alpha hunched down and let loose a snarl, as the other wolves backed away. ============================================== “SO…ex Yakuza? You sure you can be trusted for our operation?” the military man asked, raising an eyebrow. Ronin nodded. “Yes sir. I am not tied to any of the families, and I am good at what I do. You can trust me” The military man reclined in his chair and plopped a newspaper on the desk. “This kid, Jun Masumoto, killed a dead one. He would be a target for the JSDF and Dr. Keiko Mesuji if he was discovered, so I want you to look after him” He stood and turned away from Ronin, who piped up, “What is your name again?” The military man replied: “Toro Masumoto. I think you know why I want you to look after him” =============================================== Ronin and the Alpha lunged at each other, stabbing, biting and screaming with wild rage. After a grueling fight, Ronin pinned the Alpha down, stabbing and punching its belly furiously, until pink intestines poured out of the opening. Ronin grabbed the wolf by the jaw, and yanked hard, snapping its jaw. He looked up to see the other wolves back away, and begin to scatter. Looking at the bloody jaw, and pried out a canine tooth, and stuffed it in his pocket. He sniffed the air, smelling the faint aroma of smoke. He saw over the tree tops a pillar of smoke, with a road leading directly to it. He smiled weakly, and began to head towards it, covered in blood. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: Jun and Jae Eun cling to life, meeting a group of possible friends.

Summary: Jun and Jae Eun cling to life, meeting a group of possible friends.
Episode 311 – Lonesome Roads
The raft landed on the shore, the Serizawa groaning and slipping into the ocean, with several rafts attempting to escape the carnage. Jun filled the raft with his blood, while Jae Eun tried to carry him. After a while, she resorted to using a thick tarp from a discarded tent to drag him along the grass and the road after a while. Walkers along the coast were too busy to notice the two people leaving the beach and attempting to find shelter. Jun felt himself drift in and out of consciousness, with Jae Eun’s voice sounding a million miles away. “COME ON JUN!” she screamed, as a walker lunged at her. They had made it ashore and were heading towards a collection of building along the road. Jun fell to the ground, his now clotted wound opening up and spilling thick, red blood on the pavement. “JUN!” she yelled, shooting the walker in the eye. He scooped him up and carried him along, trying to carry his weight. A thin stream of blood trailed behind them, with Jun mumbling, “Jae Eun, leave me. Go save yourself, babe” His girlfriend responded by killing another walker and shouldering even more weight. They eventually made it to a small seedy hotel, the outside littered with burnt out cards & burnt skeletons. A door was open, with Jae Eun leaning Jun against a car while she searched the inside. There was nothing inside, save for a suitcase left unopened and a fishing pike. She threw Jun on the bed and grabbed the pike, stabbing one walker that came too close. She noticed a small group of around 6 walkers approaching them, and proceeded to slam the door shut, barring it with a metal chair. She searched through the bathroom, finding a small med kit filled with bandages and ointments. “This should do the trick” she said as she peeled back the tacky blood covered shirt. The exit wound was oozing blood, which Jae Eun sopped up and covered with a thick wad of sterile gauze. She wrapped his wound and noticed his skin had become slightly whiter. “How much blood have you lost?” she asked, noticing Jun drifting to sleep. She shook him violently. “HEY! DON’T YOU DARE FALL ASLEEP!” she shouted, trying to snap him out of his daze. Jun stirred and grunted, “Can’t a guy get some rest?” Jae Eun in a full panic pleaded, “Please don’t joke! You have lost a ton of blood, and I don’t know if you will survive the night!!” Jun groaned and felt his bandage. “You did this?” Jae Eun nodded. “I took medical training classes during college. I can keep an eye on you, and before you know it you will be okay!” Jun grabbed her arm, his grip loose and clammy. “Look…I am feeling like shit. I can feel myself drifting now…I don’t think I am going to make it” he weakly told her. Jae Eun shook her head. “NO! You will make it! You will-” Jun sharply interrupted: “JAE BAE! I am not making it out alive. When the time comes, you put me down, understand?!” he then fell on the bed and began to sweat. “…g-go get some supplies from nearby, okay? I will be okay in here. We both need food and water” he weakly ordered. Jae Eun unbarred the door, and found the outside lifeless, save for a wandering walker. She sneaked behind a car and peeked out to see if there was anything useful down the street. A gas station, a small “Yes Go Go!” mart, and a single military truck were all that she could think of that had food, with the burnt out, decaying buildings hollow shells in the background. She first searched the gas station, finding it empty save for a crushed bag chili flavored shrimp crackers. The food mart was also a bust, with the store looted out and covered with refuse and corpses. She did, however, find what appeared to be a can of tuna, with a 6 pack of water nearby. She almost went to reach for it when she heard a faint giggle. She paused and heard, “Grab it! Grab it I need a woman!” coming from the ceiling. She backed away and loudly said, “Tuna and water! Yes!” she then aimed her pistol at the ceiling and shot the source of the noise. The ceiling crumbled and out rolled a thin little man covered in prison tattoos. “YOU BITCH!!” he spat, pouring blood from his wounds. Jae Eun stood over him and demanded, “Were you hunting me?!” The man spat blood and crooned, “Of course I was! You little slut! I was going to have a great time while you were tied up!” Jae Eun pulled out her knife and much to her own shock stabbed him in the eye, killing him. She stood and muttered to herself, “I killed that man…I murdered him…” she then vomited, using the nearby countertop to brace herself. She picked up the food and saw train had begun to fall around her, making the ground wet and soppy. She found a plastic jug and wiped it out with her shirt, holding it over her head to collect rain water. As she was heading to the hotel, she heard a whimper and went to investigate. A dog lay wounded, its fur covered in blood as she approached. It snarled, but was silenced when she stabbed it in the head, killing it. She looked over the body and drug it back to the hotel with her, and, after putting the supplies down, skinned it. The meat was cooked over a small fire she set up in the small cooking area of the hotel room, and served alongside a small portion of the crushed shrimp chips to Jun. Jun weakly took a bite and chewed the meat. “I failed everyone…I should have shot that coward Yamamoto…we could have survived” he mournfully mumbled. Jae Eun swallowed her chunk of meat and angrily retorted, “Yes. But you were too busy licking his boots and being 2nd in command. You got everyone killed: Takeshi, Akiko, Shinji, Ronin….HARUNA. All are now dead because you didn’t have the balls to act like the man your father was. You are a disgrace!” she stormed in the bathroom, and locked the door. Jun felt his wound seeping blood, and an intense pain rang through him as his side echoed with pain. He collapsed onto the floor, and began to violently shake, his wound cracking open and oozing blood on the carpet. Jae Eun heard the thump and went out to see what happened, seeing Jun convulsing on the floor. She ran over, tears in her eyes and sobbing, “NO NO NO!!! NO JUN DON’T!” she rolled him over and attempted to perform CPR, getting blood all over her hands. She saw him shudder, and then grow dim. She sat up, horrified and shocked, trying to come to terms with what was happening. “Jun…don’t leave me alone….please don’t leave me in the world without you….” She pleaded. The door suddenly shook, with the sound of walkers snarling breaking the silence. She wiped her tears away and drew her knife, standing up. “I am going out on my own terms then” she defiantly told herself, opening the door. She stabbed one walker and then another, anger and hatred flowing through her, dropping walker after walker. Suddenly the last walker forced her to the ground, snapping at her face, long tendrils of drool dropping on her cheek. Then a loud bang thundered through the air, followed by the walker’s head crumpling inward. She looked up to see a man with boyish features extend a hand, shouting in Korean, “*Come on! We need a place to bunker down!*” She turned behind her and saw 3 other figures behind him: a large muscular man dressed in a tan leather jacket with his hair tied in a ponytail, a short yet pretty woman dressed in what appeared to be a field medic’s outfit, and a black skinned Japanese man with a duster, a rifle aimed at the dead walker. “Jaeeee” she heard Jun groan, with the first man perking his head up. “Who is that?” he demanded. “Are any of you a doctor?!” Jae Eun asked, with the small woman piping up, “I am. What are your needs?” Jae Eun pointed to the hotel room, “My Boyfriend is dying. PLEASE save his life, he was shot and is bleeding out!” she screamed, with the dark man and the doctor running inside. Jun was now awake, gasping for air as the doctor shoved a tube down his throat, using a manual pump to keep him to choking to death. She noticed the wound and pulled out a thick, clear gel and slathered it on his exposed wound. She pulled out a needle filled with medication and jammed it in his arm. She then began to remove the gauze, and saw the infected tissue, gasping. “KWAN! I need the surgery set now!” The boyish man ran and handed her a large knapsack, and within seconds she was prepping for surgery. Jae Eun watched as the darker man exited, closing the door behind him. “What will happen to Jun?!” she demanded. The larger man in the leather jacket replied with a boisterous chuckle, “Have his life saved. Dr. Zhang Hwang is small, but goddamn she can fix you up like no other. Don’t worry babe, he will fine” Jae Eun placed her hand on her PPK as the 3 men circled her. “Who are you all anyways?” she asked. The larger man replied, “I am supreme wrestling champion Shinsuke Goro baby! Didn’t you ever watch my tournaments?” receiving a negative from Jae Eun. “My name is Lieutenant Kwan P’yon, former South Korean army infantry. I leader these people, trying to survive” Jae Eun looked at the dark man and asked, “What is your name?” receiving a grunt, “Kuma” Shinsuke grinned. “He doesn’t talk that much. But boy is he handy in a fight. In fact, we all are great in a pinch” he then noticed a few walkers approaching and nodded to Kuma, who drew two long knives from his hips. Shinsuke noticed a woodcutters axe in the back of a nearby truck and picked it up. Gleefully waltzing up to a walker he swung the axe across its face, cutting the skull in half. Another had its skull split in two as he raised his axe and swung it down hard, cleaving the head apart. Kuma stepped in between two walkers and stabbed them at the same time, withdrawing the blades and kicking another walker off its feet. Kwan tossed Jae Eun an MP5 and the two of them began to pick off walkers, each with pinpoint accuracy. Shinsuke grabbed a walker and threw it to the ground, picking up a brick and smashing its face inwards, while Kuma beheaded another, and saw one final walker in the distance. He looked at Shinsuke and rumbled, “Mine. Back off” prompting the wrestler to back off as he grabbed the walker and stabbed both knives in the walker’s temple. Jae Eun handed the rifle to Kwan and walked up to the hotel room door, knocking and asking, “Is he alright?” The door opened with Dr. Hwang irritably answering, “He is out of the woods, with his internal bleeding stopped. I am transfusing what blood packs I have with me into him, to account for his lost blood. Now, unless you have anything else to demand of me, I need to attend to my patient” followed with the door slamming shut. ====================================== Jun awoke that evening, to find his wounds sutured and his skin a healthy pink color. Jae Eun grasped his hand and breathed a sigh of relief. “You made it!” she said happily. Jun smiled at her, and then noticed the four people sitting on the other bed across from him. He reached for his revolver but found it in Shinsuke’s hand. “Easy cowboy, we aren’t here to hurt you” the wrestler told Jun, emptying the bullets out and handing him the gun. Dr. Hwang approached him and checked his pulse and vitals. “You seem to be healthy Mr….?” Jun holstered his revolver. “Masumoto. My name is Jun Masumoto. This is my girlfriend, Jae Eun Rhee” Kwan extended a hand, which Jun cautiously took, shaking it. “I think, now that you both are able to listen, we should explain our cause: I am leading this group to the Shinda, in an attempt to board and survive under these harsh conditions we are now in. It is my hope we can-” Jun held up a hand. “I will stop you there, P’yon. We were aboard the Shinda…it’s been destroyed by an enemy of ours” Kuma perked up and asked, “Destroyed? When?” Jun shook his head, looking at Jae Eun. “I think 2 days ago. We barely escaped ourselves. As far as we know, we are the only surviving passengers left” Kwan dropped his head and mumbled, “Destroyed. I can’t believe it…” Shinsuke rudely asked Jun, “How do we know you aren’t bullshitting us?” Jun tossed him a patch belonging to a JOC soldier. “These soldiers, known as the JOC, attacked us and in the process were destroyed as well. Trust me, I am not making this up” Dr. Hwang looked at Kwan and asked, “What now? We have no mission and no direction” Kwan rubbed his head and looked at Jun. “Well…where were you and Ms. Rhee heading?” Jae Eun toyed with a pencil and replied, “Nowhere. We have no direction nor any place to call home. We are vagabonds” Shinsuke pulled out his radio. “We have the train…we could go and find it” prompting Kwan to comment, “We don’t even know if it’s legit or not. For all we know it could be a trap!” Jun grabbed his side in pain and piped up, “Umm what train?” Shinsuke answered: “There was a radio station promoting a train that could still run without the power grids. We heard them talk about taking any survivors away from the metropolitan areas and to a safe zone called Toride, or the Fort, away from the hordes of dead” Jun frowned and looked at Kwan. “So when was the last time you heard a transmission?” Kwan took the radio and dialed into a frequency. The radio crackled to life and sputtered, “The train heading towards Toride is now boarding, with our latest (unintelligible crackling) 2 miles from Niigata. Come one, come all. Safety is within your grasp!” Jun took the radio and rolled it around his hands, commenting, “So it’s legit…how far are we from Niigata?” Kuma mumbled, “64 miles” Jun looked at the new people and replied: “Then we go for it. Doc can I move in the morning?” Dr. Hwang shook her head. “No. Not for another day at least. We can stay here for another day, then head out. Meanwhile, I suggest we get our rest” ==================================== Jun and Jae Eun were lying with each other in their room, while Kwan’s group cleaned out a residing room for them to rest in. Jun drifted in and out of sleep, while Jae Eun simply could not sleep. “Jun…about what I said…” Jae Eun started with Jun interrupting: “Baby, I understand why you said those things, and you were right. I got comfortable. And it cost lives. That will never happen again…if a situation arises that I can control and salvage, I will do so. No matter who is in charge. No more holding back” Jae Eun rested her head on his chest, and pondered, “And if these people aren’t who we need?” with Jun replying, “Then we slit their throats in their sleep. Anything to keep you alive” The group gathered their belongings the day after Jun rested for a day, with Jun standing up with some difficulty. He supported himself with the fisherman’s pike and shouldered a backpack filled with supplies, while Jae Eun held the MP5 given to her by Kwan. Shinsuke pulled put a map and pointed to the road leading away from town. “If we follow this road we should be heading straight for the train station” Kuma sniffed the air and grunted, “Rain coming” as the sound of distant thunder rumbled through the air. Jae Eun crumpled her nose and complained, “I wish we had a truck or something. Such a long trip” Jun grinned and commented, “At least you will get even tighter muscles” with his girlfriend rolling her eyes. Kwan pointed to a brush pile and tore down a canvas sheet, revealing a military truck, loaded with supplies. Jae Eun raised an eyebrow, with Shinsuke teasingly telling her “Well if you want to keep getting a hard bod, you are more than welcome to keep walking hun” Jae Eun shoved him aside and climbed in, with the rest of the group climbing in the back of the truck, covered with a thick tarp. Kwan climbed in the driver’s seat with Jun sitting beside him. “Listen here Masumoto: I had to deal with a traitor back in Korea who did many unspeakable things. So I will only say this once…screw with me and I will kill you. Got it?” Jun nodded and replied, “Same goes for you, Lt. P’yon. Hurt Jae Eun, and I will end all of you” Kwon chuckled and started the truck. “Glad we understand each other then. So, shall we go and see if thing is legit?” he asked, with Jun nodding in agreement. The truck peeled out of the brush and went down the road with rain pouring down with lighting crackling in the distance. ====================================== Ronin, in another area of the woods, huddled down and ducked into a small concrete sewer duct as the rain poured around him. He shivered and tried to keep warm, with his breath forming clouds in the small area. He saw numerous walkers walking by the duct, ignoring him as he stayed motionless. A thought of Haruna flashed through his mind, and murmured, “Oh god…” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: Shinji, Emiko and Gabe try to rescue survivors, with the world around them closing in.

NEW CAST: Jinta – Nobuyuki Suzuki Ko – Taiki Sato Tadashimi – Motoki Ochiai
SUMMARY: Takeshi and Haruna survive the battle, but can they survive the new world?
Episode 312 – To Err is Human
Takeshi and Haruna floated on the open water, amidst a cacophony of screams, fire and explosions on their escape raft. Takeshi held onto the note Momoko gave him just before the attack which read: “I think we are good together, and I hope when you are better we can try to have something work out” He folded the note and quietly stuffed it in his pocket as he started the onboard motor, trying to keep not only himself but a distraught Haruna distracted from the horrors before them, as they weaved through the bodies now littering the water. One body grabbed onto the boat, a young woman whose face had been burnt off on one side, revealing muscle tissue and bone as she croaked out, “Please…help” Takeshi quietly leaned over and stabbed her in the head, gently pushing her into the water as they approached land. Haruna was in a state of shock, failing to cope with the fact both her children and husband had been taken from the world. Takeshi stared at the destruction and uttered in complete defeat, “We have lost everything now, Haruna…why should we even try to move forward? Jun, Momoko, Shinji…I should be dead Haruna, not them. I am not the one who should be standing here while they are gone” Haruna stifled her tears and comfortingly ran her hand across his back. “We can’t give up. Even though Jun…” she took a deep breath and finished “Even though Jun is most likely gone, I can’t throw my life away. We can build something new now. Maybe something even better than before” Takeshi grunted in disagreement and checked his handgun, muttering “Full clip. So after I blow my brains out, you will still have enough to survive” he then placed the gun against his head and pulled back the hammer. “TAKESHI! Please don’t!” begged Haruna as Takeshi began to sob violently. “Why not?! I don’t have anything left! Nothing!!! Not my wife, not my friend’s son I swore to protect, not the woman who loved me! NOTHING!!!” Haruna gently pulled the gun down and whispered, “You have ME. Jun would have wanted you to look after me, no? And I am not going to let you make a mistake you can’t undo. Understand?” Takeshi sniffed and unwillingly handed her the gun. “You aren’t weak anymore” he commented, with Haruna replying, “After Toro and Hideki died, I couldn’t afford to be weak. And neither can you in this world” She looked at the nearby road and said, “Look! A pillar of smoke! That means whoever lit the fire is still around!” Takeshi wiped his nose and scoffed, “How do you know?” Haruna turned to him and smiled faintly, “Smoke is still black. It’s fresh” ============================================ Kasune and Sung-min had arrived at the beach mere hours later, with their raft now sunk from a piece of jagged metal in the water. They had found an abandoned boat, and secured the area, deciding to rest there for the night. Sung-min looked at the blood on his hands, and began to rub it off with his jacket. He rubbed and rubbed but the blood would not come off as the memories of Hogun killing Akiko flashed in his mind. Kasune, who was sitting across from him, asked inquisitively “Whose blood is that?” Sung-min stopped the rubbing and answered, “Akiko’s. That Reborn bastard killed her in front of me. Kasune…she told me she loved me. SHE TOLD ME THAT AND I COULDN’T TELL HER I FELT THE SAME! I waited and waited for the right moment and it was before me the whole damn time!!” Kasune bit her lip in grief, remembering Soo Yung and the looks they would exchange, the first time they touched, the first time they kissed. All that now a lost memory. “I gave up something special too. I gave up Soo Yung, and I can’t ever tell her I didn’t mean to. So I understand exactly how you feel now” she explained. Sung-min snarled with pent up anger, “What would you know?! You were a man pleaser passed around like a party favor! You embraced that lifestyle. I had no choice…I could have had a normal life…but I can’t now” Kasune brushed off the insult and plainly asked: “If you told her you loved her, would she still be alive? Would she have survived? No. She would have still been killed on there. But what you have now is a rare gift. You have a new chance at life and a chance to make her memory a good one. Be the man she knew you were, and don’t wallow in self pity. Trust me, I am trying to not do the same thing right now” Sung-min stood and sat next to her, allowing Kasune’s head to rest on his shoulder as the night grew darker around them. Sung-min threw a blanket they found over them and checked his C96 pistol to see the ammo count, as they drifted off to sleep. =============================================== Takeshi and Haruna had found a car to sleep in that night, and were rudely awakened by a walker banging on the window, trying to get in. Takeshi grumpily opened the side door, stepping out to kill it when a knife from the dark stabbed the walker in the head, dropping it. He was suddenly kicked in the gut and knocked onto the ground, as Haruna was pulled from the car kicking and clawing at whoever had them hostage. Takeshi looked up to see a man armed with a sawed off lever action rifle in his hand, now aimed at Takeshi’s face. “Stay down old man. We have a few things to say to you” His gun and knife were taken from him, and Haruna was on her knees, a pistol clamped against her temple. The man slung the gun across his shoulder and continued, “My name is Jinta, you see, and I and my merry band of three boys here are asking for a mere donation, if possible” Takeshi scowled, “What do you us to ‘donate’ exactly? Supplies aren’t exactly bountiful” Jinta chuckled heartily and pointed to a younger guy no older than 16. “Tadashimi, what DO we want? We should be very specific for the old guy” Tadashimi replied, “Guns, ammo, water, food, meds, and…a piece of this woman here. Awfully dry up in here now that the world is dead, wouldn’t you agree, old man?” Takehsi lunged towards him but was stopped by a punch to the gut. He collapsed and gasped for breath. Jinta picked him and ordered, “Don’t ever be stupid like that again, old fool!” He pointed to the knapsack he had left by the driver seat. “Empty it Ko!” Ko, a smaller and more weedy man grabbed the bag and shook it out onto the ground, with the bottles of water and food tumbling to the dirt below. “ALRIGHT!” Jinta said excitedly, “Now we have their weapons, supplies and other shit! But we still need one last thing...” he walked up to Haruna and tore off her shirt, revealing her beige bra as he eyed her hungrily. “Why aren’t you crying bitch?!” Ko demanded. Haruna spat in Jinta’s face and replied, “Because no matter what you do to me, it will be pleasurable compared to what Takeshi will do to you after that walker behind you kills you!” Tadashimi turned, and was stabbed in the stomach by Haruna, who had grabbed a sharp rock and use it like a knife. As Tadashimi stood in shock, Takeshi, with a surge of energy, shot up and grabbed Jinta and threw him against the car. Ko went to pull off Takeshi, but Takeshi, to Haruna’s shock grabbed the man by his mouth, forced it open and with a savage strength pulled the jaw down hard enough to remove it from the skull. Ko stood screaming as Haruna picked up her knife and stabbed him in the eye. Takeshi pinned Jinta against the hood of the car, and brought down blow after blow down onto the man’s face, blood splattering across the formerly white hood and each hit sending a louder and louder crunch in the night air, as the man’s face was getting pummeled. Takeshi finished off Jinta by throwing him on the ground and stomping on his stomach, making the man’s back arch, allowing him to stomp down hard on his neck, creating a loud crunching noise. He noticed a hatchet on the belt of Ko and picked it up, following the blood trail left by Tadashimi. He found the man reaching for his gun he had dropped, and drove the hatchet into the man’s hand, splitting it in two. He then raised the weapon and clove Tadashimi’s skull into several bloody pieces, covering himself in blood and brain matter. He stood and spat on the body, leaving it to rot in the grass as he walked away. Haruna had been collecting the gear from the dead men, and noticed Jinta had been a police officer in training, and was married to a young woman, who was probably now long dead. She showed the picture and badge to Takeshi who simply batted them to the ground. “They chose to be human trash, raping and murdering innocent people trying to survive. So I treated them like that. I wouldn’t allow them to hurt you like they wanted to…I couldn’t” Haruna nodded and asked, “So is that reason you were made a beat cop again… it wasn’t because you botched a case…you lost your temper, didn’t you?” Takeshi nodded. “This guy was a rapist who loved to film himself defiling young girls. Most of the girls were no older than 10, and they were always found with their eyes and tongues cut out. Hell, one poor girl killed herself after finding out she was pregnant with his child. We all knew who it was, and we couldn’t touch him: the son of a wealthy business man who used his dad’s power to buy his freedom. I didn’t care, after seeing reports of him rape and kill a girl and her sister one night. I followed him home, pulled him in an alley and beat him to death, leaving his head spilt open and his wasted manhood lying next to him. The businessman threatened to have me arrested, but I told them if they tried to put me away, I would spill his son’s secrets to the press, ruining not only him but the police force that covered up what had been going on. So they instead forced me to step down as a detective, and become a beat cop once again. The gun was one thing I always kept hidden, an old artifact from a failed robbery that was ‘lost’ in evidence” Haruna listened with shockingly no ill will, not even horrified by his actions he described. “You wife didn’t know about what you did?” she asked. Takeshi shook his head. “I swore to Toro I wouldn’t. He was the only one besides the police chief who knew the exact details” He sniffed the cool night air, as crickets and frogs chirped around them. “And the thing that kept me up at night? The fact that if I had the chance to make things different, I never would have. I don’t regret killing that man, just like I don’t regret killing those two bastards. I am not a good man Haruna, and I never was” Haruna nodded and replied, “Maybe we don’t need a purely good man, but one who is good enough to make it in this world” ========================================= Sung-min awoke to the sound of rain pattering atop the metal roof, as Kasune stirred and stood, stretching her arms. She looked at him and said groggily, “You talk in your sleep” Sung-min laughed and joked weakly, “Well, of all people to sleep with I never thought it would be you” Kasune shot him a look and shot off, “We had our clothes on. Don’t worry about feeling dirty. I have that effect on most men I am with in some capacity” Sung-min forced a smile and got on his feet, shouldering the backpack he had filled with food and water. Kasune picked up her scoped M1A4 rifle and they left the boat, heading towards the road. The rain stopped after a short while, and they noticed the total silence around them. “I almost miss having planes and cars making noise” commented Kasune, with Sung-min looking around. “It’s awfully still here. No walkers, no animals…no birds…wonder why?” They continued walking and found the bodies of three young men, one whose head and hand was cut apart, another who had been stabbed in the stomach and the eye, and another who had been so badly beaten his face was a pile of shattered bone and muscle. “Whoever did this had serious anger issues” noted Kasune. The man awoke as a walker, gurgling and growling while attempting to reach out at her. Sung-min marched over to the walker and stabbed it in the head, twisting the blade and then yanking it out. “We should go before whoever did this comes back” he said, wiping the blade off on the walker’s jeans. ================================================= Takeshi and Haruna opened the can of soup they found from underneath a countertop and plopped the solid glop into a pan, placing the said pan over the fire started. “I hate radish soup” grumbled Takeshi. Haruna smirked. “We could always chew in the can. But I for one intend on eating the soup” Takeshi scowled and took a scoopful of soup in his bowl, tasting the multi-colored slop. “Could be worse” he said, shoveling the soup in his mouth. Haruna looked outside the window nearby with a worried look. They were holed up inside a small food mart, now long since looted and emptied. A torn magazine lay soiled and water damaged on the floor, which Haruna picked up. “It’s funny” she said flipping through the darkened pages “That we would worry about petty nonsense like this when in reality we should have been worried about not starving to death or getting eaten. Funny isn’t it?” Takeshi nodded and chuckled softly. “Bills and medical insurance payments. Those kept me up at night and made me consider working a second job. Guess we don’t have to think about those anymore” The two of them then heard the sound of walkers outside snarling and growling as they passed by the window. They ducked and stayed perfectly still, but while shifting her weight Haruna slipped on a wet newspaper causing her foot to shoot outwards, kicking a large pile of empty tin cans. The noise was thunderous, and Takeshi cringed, looking through the window to see the walkers had turned around and headed straight towards the food mart. The door was open and the walkers poured into the mart, shambling around to see any form of movement. Takeshi stood and shot 2 walkers in the head with the sawed off lever action rifle he looted, and then shot another with his pistol. Haruna picked off a few as well with her Glock 20, but the walkers soon surrounded them. Takeshi grabbed a shopping cart and shoved it in front of them, blocking the walkers from biting them. Takeshi then reached down and pulled out his knife, stabbing one walker in the head, clearing an opening for Haruna to go through. “GO!” he shouted. Haruna mournfully obeyed and slipped through, running out of the shop as the walkers surrounded the older man. She collapsed on the ground, and began to sob uncontrollably, but was then interrupted by the sound of boots walking towards her. She looked up and saw who had walked up to her: Sung-min and Kasune, who heard the noise and decided to check out the cause. “You alright Ms. Masumoto?” asked Sung-min, with Kasune peeking her head through the door. “It’s awfully quiet in there now…who was in there?” Haruna stood shakily and muttered, “Takeshi…we were surrounded and he let me out…” The three of them went inside to find Takeshi slumped against the wall, covered in walker blood with a mountain of corpses around his feet. “Hey guys…what took you so long, huh?” he joked exhaustedly. That night Sung-min and Haruna shared their rations with Takeshi and Haruna, who poked the fire with a metal stick. “So who else made it out?” asked Takeshi. Sung-min pursed his lips. “No one we know of as of yet. As far as we know, we are the only survivors to have made it out” Kasune checked her rifle’s magazine and noted, “At least the JOC and Board are gone now. No more ‘New Empire’ bullshit or cure. Still, we have to move forward from this somehow…we need a place to hunker down and survive” Takeshi noticed a radio on the wall and grabbed it, saying, “Hey maybe the battery inside still works” He dropped it a short distance from the ground and immediately the radio began to spew out a plethora of crackling and muffled noise. He quickly adjusted the frequency and the group heard: “Station is (muffled) safe and (muffled) open. Anyone who needs a home should (muffled) come. Location is at (muffled) near Niigata. Over” Takeshi looked at the group and exclaimed, “That is surely a trap. Advertising a safe zone like that means you are indiscriminately recruiting people. In this world you take what you can from others” Haruna quietly replied, “What if Jun is alive and he heard that? What if innocent people heard that transmission and are being led into a deathtrap via a siren song? We cannot allow that to happen. We have to go check it out and see if it’s legit or a trap. Not just for us, but for other people” Sung-min grunted displeasingly, “And why should we? They aren’t our people who might be led there, so why risk our necks for them?” Kasune interjected with, “Because it’s what Jun would have wanted to do if he were in our shoes. We have to be the morally sound people in this case and keep others from harm, even if that means putting ourselves in harm” Haruna pointed to her and nodded in agreement. Takeshi stood and brushed off the crumbs from his rice cake dinner. “Well then” he said, shouldering the supply bag, “We should get going before it gets dark in a few hours” The group packed and checked a map they found on the counter in the shop, using a compass to find the proper cardinal directions. Sung-min checked his pistol’s clip and asked Takeshi, “So what if we do find out these railroad people on the radio are a bunch of murders and liars? What then, since there are only 4 of us?” Takeshi grimly looked at the man at his side and answered, “They haven’t been through the shit we have. So as soon as they try some kind of stunt on us…they will regret it” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: In the aftermath of the battle, Shinji and a few survivors tread a new path.

Woman in lab - Choi Ji Woo Summary: In the aftermath of the battle, Shinji and a few survivors tread a new path.
Episode 313- Less than Nothing
Shinji and Emiko ducked in the raft as the battle raged on, noticing another raft getting hit by an errant piece of metal sending the raft sinking into the ocean. Emiko pointed to the raft and shouted, “THERE! We need to rescue those people!” They quickly rowed over to the raft to find four bodies bobbing in the water, with 3 waving frantically. “Come on get aboard” shouted Shinji, who recognized Gabe as one of the people. Gabe climbed aboard and helped the other two people, being the CSI Noda Tanyu and Buseno, a former lawyer. Emiko rolled the fourth body over and was nearly bit, as the body had turned and attempted to take a chunk out of her arm. Gabe, thinking fast, grabbed an oar and smacked the walker repeatedly, until the walker let go, leaving it to snap and snarl in the water. The Shinda split in two, with a massive explosion sending hundreds of fiery metal shards flying into the air. They rowed away from the scene, leaving the screaming Serizawa crew to their fate and trying to not hit any metal islands now bobbing in the ocean. The raft eventually made landfall, with the 5 people clambering out and observing the debris washing ashore. “We should stay close by, to make sure any survivors are picked up and taken care of” Gabe suggested, with Emiko asking, “And if they are JOC soldiers?” Shinji sharply replied “We kill them. No questions asked. Better we remove them as a threat now, or end up with a ticking time bomb later” Emiko gawked at him, with Noda adding, “We should also take any supplies that survived the firestorm. Need as much as we can get after all” The group camped inside an old semi truck for the night, with Gabe keeping watch while Noda and Buseno slept. Emiko shook Shinji, who sat alone staring at the metal wall. “Can we talk about what you said earlier?” she inquired, with Shinji nodding. “You ordered us to outright kill any JOC soldiers we came across. Many of those people were my friends, and while I don’t support what Mamakomo preached, they all weren’t bad people” Shinji examined Kuroi and muttered, “Maybe so, but when they decided to kill not only men, but women and children, they forfeited their humanity. The JOC are a cancer and should be removed” Emiko pursed her lips and meekly asked, “Including me?” Shinji stood and took Emiko’s hand in his. “You are an exception. You actually have a heart, which is rare to find these days” Gabe walked up and exclaimed, “There is moaning on the beach…and it’s not from walkers!” Shinji ran out of the truck trailer with Gabe and Emiko, while Noda sleepily awoke and held out his pistol, guarding the still asleep Buseno. They ran to the beach to find the ocean now a sea of flames. “Oil and fuel must have leaked out and set alight! It could burn for hours” commented Emiko, as they looked at the survivors. One survivor, a man in a charred suit, coughed and sputtered, “Help…please” before turning his head, revealing an exposed skull. “Jesus” Shinji said to himself as he plunged his knife in the man’s head. Another woman, now naked but completely covered in charred, blackened flesh reached out for help. Emiko reached and took her arm, and began to pull, only to have a large chunk of burnt flesh slough off from the bone, revealing the muscle tissue and tendons. Emiko panicked and let go of the skin, her hands now sticky and oily. She wiped them off on a nearby blanket, and put down the woman, trying not to throw up. Finally, they came across something familiar to Shinji: parts of the Samurai armor he had taken from the Traditional House. Only the arm and chest pieces were intact, with the rest missing, presumably having gone to the depths. Shinji tied on the chest and arm pieces, with Emiko noting, “Those must be light” Shinji nodded and said with total confidence, “These three pieces only weigh around 10 pounds in total, and I have been training with this set, so it’s nothing” He then saw a large container of food that washed ashore. “Yes!” Gabe shouted, grabbing the container and heading back to the trailer. The last person alive on the beach held out his arm, and moaned, prompting Shinji to walk over and unsheathe Kuroi, and then plunge the blade deep into his skull. He wiped off the blade and picked up a washed up M4A1, grunting, “Let’s get some sleep, so we can travel in the morning” Gabe, having found a washed up shotgun, replied, “Travel where Shinji?” “Anywhere away from here. Our friends are most likely dead, so we need to start anew” ==================================================== Noda awoke to the sound of walkers outside the trailer, and quietly snuck up to the tiny hole in the wall of the trailer, peering out. He noticed dozens of walkers walking out of the water, walking along the beach and towards the road. He shot a look at the door, noticing it was now firmly shut. The walkers sauntered past the trailer, paying no attention to the occupied metal box, prompting Noda to sigh with relief. The next morning, they opened the door, finding only a single walker wandering around. Gabe walked up and stabbed it in the head with a sharpened stick he picked up, while Shinji and Noda looked around cautiously. “We should head north” commented Shinji, “If there are any survivors, based on the tides and wind, they would have blown to the north, onto the shore along the road. We should start looking there” They packed their bags and headed up the road, rain clouds beginning to gather above them. After walking and checking the shorelines every few hundred feet, only finding dead corpses, twisted metal and discarded supplies, they finally found something of interest. A woman’s corpse with a needle shoved in her head, with her legs and left arm having been blown off. “Wonder who this was” commented Noda, as he rolled the torso over. The flesh and meat had all but been eaten, with only the muscle tissue and part of the neck remaining. The head snapped at Noda, who quickly stabbed it with his knife. A dried blood trail led into the woods, with Emiko wandering in to investigate it. She was stopped abruptly by Shinji, who commented, “Who knows what went in there. Could have been a walker for all we know” Emiko nodded and stepped back, with Shinji noting a growing noise coming from the highway nearby. He climbed up the embankment, discovering a huge herd of around 200+ walkers heading towards the group. Shinji scanned the area frantically, and found a tipped over red van a few feet away. “Everyone, climb on top of that van! Quickly!” Emiko, Noda, Gabe and Shinji clambered on top, however Buseno was not as quick. He tripped on a crack in the road and fell face first with the walkers soon enclosing around him, grabbing at his body. He screamed in horror as he saw his chest torn open, blood and bones popping out of his now exposed chest cavity. Shinji cringed and shouted, “EVERYONE! RUN for the fields! Quickly now!” The four of them jumped off the van and ran towards the field on the other side of the road. The field had not been mowed in almost 2 months, thus the grass was tall enough to reach their waists. The sun was beginning to set in the west, with the sky now a vibrant orange. They ran for almost half an hour, until they saw a small outcropping of houses tucked away in the field. They ran up to one 2 story house and kicked open the door, rushing in and blocking the door with a heavy table. Shinji noticed the smell of decomposition in the air, curling his nose up and hearing the buzzing of flies. He and Noda searched the house quickly, only to come across a single errant bottle of water, with the rest of the house looted and empty. “Might as well take it. At least it’s still sealed” Noda commented, with Shinji stuffing the bottle in his pouch. The groups then heard a rumbling noise that came from below their feet. Shinji felt a chill run down his spine. He looked over at a crooked cabinet that was blocking a door behind it with Gabe and Noda examining it. “You think there is a walker behind the door?” pondered Gabe. Emiko pressed her ear against the wall, hearing the gargling and snarling noises that were common of walkers and turned to the group. “It’s a walker. We might as well kill it and see if they stashed any supplies down there” Shinji nodded in agreement and with Gabe’s help pulled the cabinet away from the door. Noda leveled his pistol at the door, with Shinji throwing open the door. The walker fell to the floor and was shot in the head by Noda, who rolled it over to notice the walker had died recently. Fresh bruises and torn clothing were indicators that this person was hiding from some sort of outside evil. He bent down and examined the corpse. “Bruising around the inner legs and arms...” he noted as he lifted the torn skirt and took a look. His face fell as he looked up at his friends. “This woman was raped before she died…most likely she was hiding from whoever did this” Emiko lit her flashlight and peered down the basement. The steps were made from unfinished wood that creaked and groaned with age. She went down the steps and found the basement almost entirely empty, save for a washer and dryer combo, an old bicycle, some empty rotting boxes and a door which was ajar at the far wall. She crept towards the door and pushed it open, shining her light in afterwards. She was greeted by a stench so powerful she had to sharply turn away, trying not to vomit. She took in a deep breath and again went inside. In the middle of the small room were the corpses of 4 people, 2 of which were children, with a note nailed against the wall which read: “We will not let them violate us anymore. Its better we die like this, with a shred of dignity. Farewell” Emiko looked down to see similar bruises and torn clothing on each of the corpses, all of whom were female. A handgun with 4 expended shells lay in the hand of one girl, presumably used to kill the other four people trapped down there. She vomited and ran out of the room and up the stairs, falling to the floor and sobbing. Shinji helped her up and held her in his arms as Noda and Gabe looked on with sympathy. “We should leave” suggested Noda, with Shinji nodding. “Whoever did this to the poor woman most likely did this a short time ago. We should leave before they possibly come back” Gabe said, looking out the window worriedly. They left the house as a cold wind blew through the air, causing the group to start shivering. “When did it get so cold?” Shinji complained as they walked away from the town. The sound of truck engines alerted them to nearby guests, and they quickly ducked behind an embankment. Shinji, who was behind a cluster of large rocks, peeked out and saw who was now in the town: 3 trucks filled with men all armed with guns and machetes, dressed in various military clothing styles, ranging from olive green peacoats to modern military camo. One man, a large heavy set Korean with a sloppy beard, walked towards a house and fired a rifle in the air, shouting in broken Japanese, “We know you are in there ladies! Come out and make some of us less lonesome!” A militia man approached the house and went inside, with Shinji quietly sneaking away from the rocks when the man inside yelled, “The women are dead!” The Korean leader stormed into the house and after a short while screamed in Korean, “*DAMMIT! SEARCH THE OTHR HOUSES!*” Shinji ran quietly to his group and hissed, “We can create a distraction that would give us a chance to get the hell out of here…Hand me a grenade” Noda handed him one they recovered from the wreckage and Shinji snuck up to the rocks again, pulling the pin and tossing the grenade into the broken window of one home. The grenade exploded, the noise magnified due to the items inside being thrown about and broken. The Korean man roared, “*Go check that out!” Shinji and his group then ran as the soldiers went inside the house to investigate the explosion. The group ran down the road and were passing by a building when they ran into a younger looking man dressed in similar military clothing who screamed, “We have some survivors here!” before getting stabbed in the heart with Kuroi by Shinji. Shinji then retracted the blade and beheaded him, allowing nearby walkers to be distracted by the fresh meat. Soldiers from the village a block or so away ran towards the scene and soon caught sight of the group, firing their guns as they chased them through a corn field. The corn had been harvested, save for a single patch left untouched, which lay now long abandoned as Shinji’s group ran inside the patch pursued by a handful of soldiers. Emiko tripped and fell, catching the eye of a soldier who walked up to her and growled, “At least you are attractive” Emiko shot him in the eye and clambered to her feet, running away from the other men nearby. ================================================ Shinji and Gabe met up with Noda along the outer rim of the field, gasping and panting for air. “Where is Emiko?” asked Noda, as he looked around him. Emiko came running up to them and wheezed, “They are right behind me! GO!” the group again fled, finding a paved road that led into the woods nearby, as night began to envelope the countryside. The air grew cold and brisk, and Emiko could see her breath create small clouds as she panted and gasped for air. She and Noda collapsed on the road, while Noda clutching his chest. “I need to stop!! My chest feels like it is about to explode!” he wheezed. Shinji fell on his rear and looked around him, noticing they were completely alone in the woods. There wasn’t the sound of angry men crashing towards them, nor gunfire. The silence was deafening, and almost felt as if it were a blanket smothering them. As Gabe opened a bottle of water, he heard the snapping of twigs nearby, shooting up and scanning the area. “You heard that, right?” he hissed, as Shinji and Emiko stood as well. Noda heard a rustle behind him and turned, facing a large grey wolf that had snuck up to him. “Guys…” he squeaked, catching Shinji’s attention. The wolf lunged and was skewered by Kuroi, making the wolf snarl and howl. Noda collected his courage and stabbed the wolf in the eye with his field knife, shakily getting on his feet and clinging onto Shinji. Emiko, with her eyes wide open, whispered “There was a wolf reservation about 10 miles from here. Imported 20 or so wolves for educational purposes. Must have gotten free from its cage somehow” Gabe noticed a sign buried under some dirt and twigs, and brushed it off revealing what it read: “Japanese National Geological and Geo-Thermal Research Center. ½ mile north” He excitedly proclaimed, “We might have found a safe place to stay for the night! The Geo-thermal lab! It’s only a half mile north!” Shinji heard more noises coming from the nearby woods and nodded. “Then the lab is where we go next. At least until morning, so we can see where we should go next” They walked for around half an hour until they came across a tall barbed wire fence, the surrounding area covered with derelict cars and trucks, with skeletal corpses littering the entrance. Shinji sniffed the air and exclaimed, “Seems deserted. Maybe we can find a way in” They began to search the area, with Noda coming up to the door and popping off a panel next to the door. He noticed a tiny service light was lit, and smiled widely. He reached inside and felt a tiny knob, which he pulled. The door slowly shuddered to life and groaned opened. “Guys I found a way in!” he shouted, with the other 3 members running to the door. They went inside to find the main foyer to be in complete disarray, with paper and other varieties of trash strewn about, water damage and rot beginning to overtake the ceiling and floor. “Hello?!” Shinji called out, seeing if anyone or anything was still residing in the building. The overhead intercom crackled and they heard a feminine voice utter, “Go back outside! It is not safe!” Shinji held out his arms in a non-threatening manner and replied, “We have the dead hunting us as well as the living. All we ask is to stay for the night, so we may leave in the morning. I promise we mean you no harm, miss” The woman on the other end frantically exclaimed, “NO! You must leave before-” suddenly an automated voice calmly echoed, “Low power system security activated. Locking perimeter doors and exits” the door they came through slammed shut and the power died instantly afterward. “Shit! It’s too dark!” grumbled Gabe. A light flickered on nearby a small door, with an intercom box adjacent to it. “Listen, if you want to get out of here alive, you need to help me out first. I will let you inside the main lab area, but you have to promise you won’t try anything funny” Shinji pressed a big red button below the speaker and said, “We promise miss. Now, please, let us out” The door opened and out came a middle aged, yet attractive Korean woman, dressed in dirty and slightly tattered lab clothing. “I apologize for the doors closing, but that could not be avoided. I can assure you there is a way to get out of here, but you need to promise me you will help me” Emiko spoke up. “Help you with what? Cleaning out walkers?” The woman shook her head. “No…not infected…but something worse…something that if released could become a worse threat than the infected ever could be” Shinji held a hand against his heart and said warmly, “We promise we won’t try anything stupid, and we will try to help you out the best we can. Now…what exactly are we talking about here when you mention this threat being worse than walkers?” The woman sighed and brushed the hair away from her face. “It’s a long story, I’m afraid” she replied, with Gabe interjecting, “We have plenty of time now, ma’am. It’s best we know all the details” The woman bit her lip and began with, “Of course. Allow me to explain some things …” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: As Jun adjusts to his new group, Ronin learns a horrible truth.

Chinese Soldier leader – Wang Baoqiang Child – Rio Suzuki Summary: As Jun adjusts to his new group, Ronin learns a horrible truth.
Episode 314 – Hunted
“There!” exclaimed Kwan as he pointed to a fence, guarded by 2 concrete pill boxes now long abandoned. Shinsuke and Jun opened the gate, and walked inside, with the other 4 members following them. The area was a former military stock base, used to supply soldiers in the nearby cities with ammo, food, medicine and most importantly, the whole reason they were there, weapons. They searched the derelict tents to find nothing useful, save for a single trench shovel and a .45 round. Kuma picked up the shovel and examined it, with Jae Eun asking, “Why do you need a shovel?” Kuma looked at her with indifference and grunted, “Because”, stomping off and searching another tent. She frowned and went over to Shinsuke who was busy prying open a soldier’s locker. He set down his axe and cheekily retorted, “You need something sweetheart?” Jae Eun frowned, ignoring his retort. “Kuma there…why is he always so quiet? He never says more than 3 or so words” Shinsuke raised an eyebrow, “I don’t have a clue. He never told me” he jokingly replied, chuckling at his own joke. Jae Eun rolled his eyes and stepped over a rock, falling over. Jun tried to run over, but his wound sent him reeling in pain, while Kwan stepped up and extended his hand to Jae Eun, who took it. “You alright miss?” he asked. Jae Eun nodded and then went over to help Jun up who looked at his new members and angrily growled, “I am the one who was freaking shot and he helps her up” Kwan shot him an innocent smile. “Ladies first” The main supply bunker was locked with an old style lock, which the key for had long since vanished, prompting Kwan to wave at Shinsuke, who twirled the woodcutter’s ax in his hands, and with one swing shattered the lock. He humped the axe over his shoulders and smugly looked at Kuma, grandiosely proclaiming, “One swing man! Beat your record of 2 swings” Kuma shot him a look and unsheathed his knifes, before heading inside the bunker. Kwan, Jun and Kuma went in one wing of the bunker, while Dr. Hwang, Jae Eun and Shinsuke went in the other. The bunker was dank, and almost totally dark, save for a few clear ceiling tiles in the roof, and the smell of a sealed room was enough to make most of the group scrunch their noses. Jun noticed the state of near perfect shape the wing they were in was. “It looks like nothing here has ever been touched” he told Kwan, who swiped a finger along a railing. “Barely any dust here either. So either it was sealed like a tomb, or someone has been caretaking for it all this time” Jun checked his revolver and asked, “How many days has it been? Since…everything broke down that is?” Kuma replied shortly, “57 days” Jun raised an eyebrow and replied, “Huh. I thought it was longer”
They arrived at a door with metal grated windows, the lights then flickering on as if my magic. “Thought the power grid was long gone!” Gasped Kwan before hearing a loud thud under their feet. “What was that?!” Kwan gasped. In the other wing, Dr. Hwang and Jae Eun were chatting about their lives while Shinsuke had ran ahead to check for walkers. “So Jae, you were a college student? You must have been very popular I bet” Dr. Hwang complimented the other woman, who shrugged, “I suppose. I mean every jock wanted to nail me and make me a trophy, but I rejected everyone who came up and started at my breasts before even talking to me” Dr. Hwang threw her head back and laughed. “I am the same way. Kwan and I…are together you see. Makes Shinsuke think twice before peeking at me while I change or take a bath” Jae Eun cricked her head. “Kuma doesn’t try to take a peek?” she asked. Dr. Hwang shook her head. “The man is a mystery. Barely speaks, barely has any emotion, but in a fight he is second to none. Even Shinsuke fears him, but don’t tell him I said so. And yet, very polite” The two were interrupted by Shinsuke who ran up to them and cheerfully roared, “JACKPOT BABY! YEAH!” He opened a door and inside was rack after rack, shelf after shelf of canned and bagged MREs, all untouched. Several barrels of purified water were also found, and a single med kit was hanging on the wall. Jae Eun grinned and turned to Dr. Hwang who called into her radio, “Kwan we found the food stores!” A sharp buzz followed, with Shinsuke replying, “Shit. The walls must be insulated. Only certain frequencies can penetrate through the walls” He opened his eyes wide and remarked, “HA! Penetrate” with him then boisterously walked off laughing hysterically, leaving the two women to roll their eyes.
Jun pulled aside a tarp and behind it was a stash of ammo and a few guns. “Damn” grunted Kuma who picked up a heavy M60 machine gun, and smiling slightly while holding it. Kwan picked up a clip of .50mm ammo and stuffed it in a knapsack. “Come on Jun, we might as well take what is left. Can’t risk leaving it for scavengers who would use it wrongfully” Jun picked up a box with a brand new Colt New Agent pistol, the grips made from what appeared to be purple heart, with the nickel slide engraved in English, “For honorable service: 40 years loyal” Jun smiled and attached the holster to his side, with Kwan commenting, “That’s a nice gun you have. Both are nice actually. Why the revolver?” Jun somberly replied, “It was my father’s. He died a while back, saving us from both the dead and the same psychotic bitch who sunk the Shinda” Kwan nodded his head in respect and picked up an M4A1 rifle, handing both Jun and Kuma one afterwards. Shinsuke waltzed up and exclaimed, “Gentlemen, we found the food! And my oh MY is that an M60?!” he ran over and picked it up, examining it with almost a loving expression. Kwan leaned over and whispered in Jun’s ear, “He is insane, but good inside…most of the time” Shinsuke slung the heavy rifle over his shoulder and walked back outside, only to find the once empty camp now populated by around 20 walkers, all of which noticed him and turned to approach him. Shinsuke grinned and screamed “Come on you dead sons of bitches let’s dance!” he then picked up his woodcutter’s ax and ran straight into the herd, swinging the ax around him and cutting down walkers left and right. One walker tried to bite his side but a sweep from his leg brought it down. Jun ran as fast as possible, cradling his side as he ran, firing into the herd and dropping several walkers around Shinsuke. “Get out of there!” he shouted, with Shinsuke rudely flipping him off during a brief lull. Jun ran in and began stabbing walkers left and right, while Kwan picked off any stragglers as the herd dwindled. One final walker pushed Jun down and fell on top of him, snapping and snarling at his face. Suddenly the walker was yanked off him and thrown to the ground, landing with a loud thump. Kuma had grabbed the walker and pinned him arms to the ground with his knives. He then pulled out a pistol and put it in the walker’s mouth, pulling the trigger and sending the brain matter flying across the ground. He pulled out his knives and helped Jun up. Shinsuke threw down the ax and balled his fists, enraged Jun had interrupted him. “Never once in the ring was I interrupted! Especially not with a twirp like you!” Jun pulled out his new pistol and aimed it at the larger man. “You’re welcome. You goddamn fool, you almost got yourself killed!” Shinsuke spat angrily and picked up his ax. “And who will stop me if I drive this in your skull, huh?” he roared. He heard the sound of blades unsheathing and looked to his left to see Kuma standing right next to him, knives drawn. “I will” Kuma rumbled, making the larger man drop the ax. “Getting soft huh Kuma?” Shinsuke taunted, his face becoming slightly clouded with embarrassment. Kuma leaned in close to Shinsuke’s face and whispered, “No”, taking off to help with the rations they found. -====================================== Ronin walked for what seemed like an eternity, as he could feel his knees becoming weaker with each step he took. The wolves had followed him for a few miles, and then vanished, leaving him alone the rest of his journey. He found an old truck, long abandoned by its owner. He crawled inside to find a single bag of pre cooked rice along with vitamin supplements. He down the supplements and hungrily shoved the rice down his throat, saving half the bag for later. Later that night, he was awoken by gunfire and screams coming from an outcropping of buildings up the road, and he decided to leave the truck and hide from whoever was doing the shooting. He had crawled into a hollowed out tree trunk where he stayed for the night, shivering as the cold night air nipped at his exposed skin. The next morning he went to explore what had happened, and was horrified by what he found: a small village burnt to the ground, with the blood of its inhabitants soaking the ground, making his steps tacky. He looked at what appeared to be a funeral pyre in the middle of the village, finding the pyre filled with corpses, all headless. He saw a trail of blood and followed it, discovering a pit filled with the turned heads, all snarling and growling at him. His nose curled in disgust, and he saw inside the pyre a blade like object covered in bony ash. He picked up the blade and shook off the ash, discovering it was a Chinese Jian, or war sword, now stained with the blood of the villagers. He heard a muffled cry and saw behind him a small girl, covered in blood and bruises approach him as walkers nearby attempted to catch her. Ronin ran forward with ungodly fury cut down the walkers near her, herding her behind him. “You want her, you have to get through me first!” he snarled, as he slashed, stabbed and cut any walkers that approached him. The last walker bit down on the blade, and Ronin could see the blade drive in between its teeth as it sank deeper into the mouth. Ronin twisted the blade and slashed down hard, slicing its head in two. He dropped the sword and saw the child now lying on the ground, shaking. He knelt down and poured a handful of cooked rice in his hand. His stomach growled but he ignored the hunger pangs and fed the rice to the girl, who opened her eyes and took a handful of his hair in her hand. “Are you an angel, mister?” Ronin smiled weakly and replied, “Yes sweetie, I am. Who did this to your home?” The child tried to talk, but choked, coughing up blood. He pulled up her shirt to reveal bruises and cuts all across her stomach, including a cigarette burn on her stomach. He gritted his teeth as he heard, “Chinese…they took my mommy and daddy…mister angel, can…can I see them now? I don’t feel so good” Ronin felt tears stream down his face as he softly told her, “Yes sweetie…go play with them forever now” He could feel her body fall limp as the life drained from her eyes. He quietly stabbed her in the head and stood, seeing tire tracks leading off towards a clearing in the woods. Later that night, after searching the village for survivors, he saw the campfire of the Chinese camp, the inhabitants consisting of about 7 Chinese soldiers, dressed in traditional Chinese army clothing, all drinking and laughing around the campfire. Ronin, who had learned Chinese at an early age, could understand what they were discussing, with one soldier bragging, “Had about 4 of those stupid villagers feel my manhood I tell ya! How about you Wong Fei?” with another replying, “Yeah man! And the kids are even fresher!” Ronin felt a rage unlike any other, and he lunged out of the bushes, slicing one soldier’s head off with the sword. He then turned and gunned down two more with his pistol. The other 4 quickly stood, reaching for their guns, but one was stabbed in the head with the sword, and other shot in the gut. Pinning the wounded soldier against a tree, Ronin stabbed the man in the eye, and felt himself getting nicked by a rouge bullet. He turned and raised the hunting rifle he had brought with him, shooting the soldier in the mouth, killing him. The final soldier pulled out a sword and raised it, ready to strike. Ronin held his sword across from him, and as soon as the Chinese soldier lunged he sidestepped and sliced off both of his hands. The man fell to the ground as Ronin walked up him and angrily picked up a bottle of alcohol. “*90 proof huh? You used this to burn the bodies of those villagers too*?” he angrily shot at the soldier in Chinese who squealed “*So you found the kid huh? That one was passed around too many times. Didn’t have it in my heart to kill her. But maybe you did, huh*?” Ronin then poured the bottle onto the man and kicked him the fire, watching him burn and pinning him into the flames with the man’s sword. He walked away, leaving the man’s screams to attract any nearby walkers, who piled on top of him and began to feast. ======================================== That night in another area, Jun and Kwan’s group rested in the now secured base, with Jun keeping watch while sitting on the back of the truck. Shinsuke walked up to him and softly said, “Hey my turn to keep watch. Get some sleep” Jun hopped off the back and went to go to bed with Jae Eun when Shinsuke grabbed him arm. “Oh and before I forget” he hissed getting directly in Jun’s face, “If you ever point a gun at me again, I don’t care who is protecting your ass, I will kill you and piss on your corpse. Got it?!” Jun pried the hand off his arm and replied sternly, “And if you give me reason to ever point a gun at you again, next time, I don’t care what Kwan says, I am blowing your head off right then and there. Got it?” Shinsuke threw up his hands and hopped on the back of the truck, scowling and muttering the whole time. The next morning Kwan and Jun awoke to Jae Eun and Dr. Hwang giggling and chatting, with meat cooking on a frying pan they found, and rice cooking in a small pot. Jun and Kwan got up and saw the meal, with Kwan asking, “What is this for, ladies?” Jae Eun stood and kissed Jun, replying, “Strong men need a meal made by even stronger women, don’t you think?” Shinsuke awoke from his sleep and loudly yawned, grunting, “I don’t care WHO made the food, as long as it can go in my mouth I like it!” Kuma, who was on watch, was served his portion and bowed politely with Shunsuke commenting, “What made you all nice and proper, huh?” Kuma walked by him, and replied, “Manners” as he sat and began to eat his meal.
Jun sat with Jae Eun and Kwan, poking at the meat on the plate. “So how close are we now?” he asked. Kwan pulled out a map and poured over it. “Says this base is about 15 miles from the station. Shouldn’t be too long anyways, maybe another half hour if we drive slow and avoid any large street herds”
They heard the rumbling of a truck engine and saw a smoke cloud approaching them on the main road. A Humvee pulled up to the gate and out stepped 4 Chinese soldiers, all of whom aimed their guns at the group. Shinsuke, Kuma, Jun and Kwan raised their guns and stepped in front of the girls, never wavering their aim. One soldier shouted in broken Japanese, “Hand over all your weapons and food! The people’s republic of China needs whatever you have to succeed! Surrender or face punishment” Jun piped up, “Why? The world ended. China has no claim on anything, and if they really did care about making the world theirs, they would start by securing their borders from the walkers” The Chinese soldier eyed the girls and devilishly grinned. “You don’t think we don’t know that, asshole? Don’t make us kill you and leave the women to an even worse fate. Make it easy and give up” Jun looked at a fuming Kwan and winked. “Alright, we surrender” they threw their guns down and held their hands up. 3 of the soldiers approached, and began to pick up the guns when Shinsuke grabbed a soldier by the head and slammed his knee into his nose bridge, sending him flying onto the ground. Kuma grabbed a soldier and knocked the gun out of his hand, and held onto him with one hand, while his other hand grabbed a knife and stabbed the soldier in the eye. Jun took the gun from his waistband he stashed and placed it against the head of the soldier he had hostage. “Drop it!” Jun ordered the last soldier. Shinsuke picked up a rock and smashed it onto the face of the soldier he knocked down, sending blood and brains splattering everywhere. The last soldier shot the hostage Chinese soldier in the chest, killing him. He then aimed his rifle at Jun, muttering “Stupid piece of sh-”, but stopped dead in his tracks, as a sword pierced through his chest. The sword was then yanked out and the wielder beheaded the soldier, killing him instantly. Jun held his gun out, checking to see who the mystery savior was, when the man looked up, and grinned. “Hey Jun. I see you made some new and very capable friends” Jun smiled and replied, “I did indeed...damn you look like shit Ronin” Ronin smiled. “So what else is new, Masumoto?” Kwan looked at the ragged Ronin and asked Jun, “So you know this bum?” Jun nodded, while Shinsuke examined Ronin. “You sure you trust this begger looking ninja, Jun?” Jun grinned, replying, “With my life I do. Is that a problem, Kwan?” The Korean looked at Ronin, and then extended his hand, with Ronin accepting the invitation. “If you trust this guy, then I do too. So…shall we head out?” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ On the Next Episode of The Walking Dead Japan: Shinji and his group must escape the horrors of the science lab, while Kwan’s group distrusts Ronin and his allegiance.

Dr. Ga-in Moon - Choi Ji Woo Hua-Ji - Xu Zheng (modeled after) Summary: Shinji and his group must escape the horrors of the science lab.
Episode 315- Into the Darkness
“Allow me to explain some things” the scientist told Shinji “My name is Dr. Ga-in Moon, and this tomb used to be a Geo-Thermal research laboratory for the Japanese government before hell broke loose outside. We took in some refugees in an attempt to wait out the outbreak. We all figured it would be over in a few days…that is until we heard over the radio that Tokyo and Osaka were napalmed. We had enough food and water to last 2 weeks, and then the clusters of infected came from the cities, and we were unable to get more food…” Shinji interrupted, “Excuse me doc, but about this horrid threat that is worse than walkers? You can’t just drop a bombshell like that and expect us to forget it” Dr. Moon nodded. “Of course. You see, we ran out of food several weeks ago, and until a few days ago, we had to resort to eating rats and collecting urine, which we boiled and processed. Then one of the women in the refugee group killed herself, and turned. We put her down of course, but the group had the notion that they had to eat, and after 2 days, they did what I could not do: they used her as nourishment” Gabe bluntly sputtered, “They ate the walker?! Wouldn’t that kill them?” Emiko pointed to him and nodded in agreement. “You would think so” Dr. Moon explained, “But after cooking and eating the meat, they, besides the shakes, were unaffected. Then…they changed. Became more ravenous and hostile, to the point to where they began killing and eating the corpses of walkers that used to be family members. They became light sensitive and became something more than human but less than walkers: Eaters” “Eaters, huh?” Noda pondered as he looked down the dark service elevator, which was now enveloped by blackness. “This sounds insane. People can’t turn…feral just by consuming walker flesh. But then again, people come back to life after dying, so who knows” Shinji remembered something and piped up, “So wait, if this is the A point of the lab and there is a B point, where is B point?” Dr. Moon replied, “It’s on the other side of the facility. But it can only be accessed via the secondary service elevator…which is on the main sub level which in turn is crawling with Eaters. Without primary power, we would be stranded here, despite reserve power barely keeping the systems online as we speak” Emiko stood and shook the door handle, inquiring, “Why not just leave from where we came?” “Because” Dr. Moon pointed out, “It is in low power lockdown, and the only way to get the power online is to, you guessed it…” “…Access the main sub level. So we have no choice” Gabe finished. Dr. Moon nodded and slid her keycard into a reader nearby, activating a small door revealing riot gear and MP5s stacked neatly in a row. “This is the security office armory” Dr. Moon explained, garnering a raised eyebrow from Shinji. “Why would a Geo-thermal/ mineral research lab need guns and riot gear?” Dr. Moon smiled coyly and said nonchalantly “Funding has to go somewhere, and what the government didn’t know wouldn’t have hurt them…not that it matters now” Noda, Gabe and Shinji grabbed an MP5 and strapped on the riot gear to protect themselves. “Emiko” ordered Shinji, “You stay here and guard the good doctor. If we get the power online and we won’t make it, get her out of here” The 3 of them approached a large rectangular service elevator, enclosed by a strong wire outer frame. A nearby intercom crackled to life, and Dr. Moon on the other end said, “This elevator will take you to the main research floor. The keycard required for entry into the power regulation room SHOULD be in the security office on that level. Oh, and one more thing…these…Eaters….they aren’t slow like Infected. They can move as fast as a normal human can. So be careful” The elevator groaned to life and went down the shaft, darkness enveloping them. Shinji noticed a small tape recorder in a wooden box nearby, picking it up to reveal that the tape was still inside. He clicked it on and the recorder played the following: “This is security officer Naoku Kajimura…we ran out of rations 2 days ago…one of the women killed herself and turned. Too many of the dead outside to arrange supplies runs. Christ, I told them NOT to eat the infected tissue…they changed after 3 days…eating whatever they could find. I locked down the main elevator and the primary power to prevent them from getting out. God rest their souls” The elevator arrived at the main level, and the three were greeted by a puddle of blood on the tiled floor. They clicked on their flashlights and searched the area, with the main corridors covered in blood and refuse. A pile of feces lay rotting in the corner, causing Gabe to reel back and dry heave. “Smells like rotted human flesh” noted Noda, who heard a small rattle from the room nearby. He shined his light in the direction, only to a corpse lying on the ground, covered in tattered and dirty clothes with her mouth covered in blood. Shinji walked cautiously up to the corpse and stabbed the head, looking at the other 2 men and grimly saying, “Better safe than sorry” They made their way through the halls and rooms, finding the lab equipment in pieces and the windows of every room broken. In one lab Noda found an audio tape with a bloody thumb print on the label. He handed the tape to Shinji who played the tape: “Security officer Kajimura here. 3 days, I have been hiding, trying my best to be quiet in the ventilation ducts…it seems the people now have lost all mental and cognitive functionality…becoming almost animalistic…vomiting constantly and screaming loud enough to keep me awake. I think I can lure them away from this duct, and make my way out of here, via the emergency escape tunnel. I think-” the audio was interrupted by a feral scream, shouting, “Kajimura?! Is that you?!” Kajimura muttered on the recording, “OH GOD”, with the other voice screeching, “I can smell you sweating…I smell your MEAT!!” The audio clicked off. They shuddered from the audio and continued along the main hallway, eventually reaching the main security office. The door had been knocked down, with the remains of a possible security guard lying rotting under the desk. “Search for the keycard and let’s get the hell out of here” whispered Shinji. They looked through the office, eventually finding the key underneath the bloody pile of bones and meat, when they heard a rattle from the nearby commissary. Gabe cautiously poked his head up and used the scope on his rifle to peer over the security desk edge. A hunched over, almost naked figure walked towards the desk, groaning and muttering unintelligibly. “…Food…” the figure muttered through the nonsense, and came around the corner and saw the group. Before he could do anything Shinji quickly lunged forward, stabbing him in the head with Kuroi. He withdrew the blade and hurriedly pointed to the nearby access elevator. “There! That’s the way towards the power control room!” They slid the key through the reader slot and the door groaned open, revealing an untouched elevator. As soon as they got inside, another figure, a super thin woman with her eyes wide open, opened her mouth to reveal a pile of darkened, meat stained teeth. She screeched a guttural, high pitched wail, and lunged towards them, as the door slammed shut, gliding down to the power control floor. ======================================================== Dr. Moon sat in her chair, anxiously fiddling with a pen she had in her hand, while Emiko stood by the door, keeping a close watch. “So…” began Dr. Moon, looking at the other woman with a small smile, “Are you and Shinji…together?” Emiko shook her head and replied, “No. In fact, 3 days ago, we were enemies. But circumstances forced us together, and I realized he was the best chance for me surviving. So no, we aren’t romantically involved” Dr. Moon sighed and leaned her head against her arm. “My fiancé…he was the head researcher here…when the dead began to turn and society collapsed, he tried to save as many as he could from the horrors outside, but he eventually wound up being the first one to be consumed by the…things down there. They look and sound human, but they are long since devoid of humanity” Emiko sat down on a nearby office chair and muttered, “How could humanity fall this low? We were once a proud country with a civilized mentality. Now…now we are becoming savages in a new world, killing and scavenging for scraps and stale rations…” Dr. Moon threw the pen against a wall and began to stuff the small collection of canned and bagged food into a backpack. “You will need this, when you get out of this tomb” she said, handing the pack to Emiko. Emiko took it and replied, “You’re coming with us too you know. We aren’t going to leave you here to die alone and scared, you understand? We don’t abandon people in need…especially if Shinji has his way” Dr. Moon nodded with tears in her eyes, sniffing to hold back tears. “Thank you…I might not be much in a fight, but I will try to pull my weight, I swear” she promised, walking over to and hugging Emiko. ============================================== “WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT THING?!” yelped Gabe, as the elevator car arrived at the Power Control Level. The door opened, with Shinji replying, clearly shook up, “An Eater I assume. It seems that they are just insane people…hopefully this elevator can reach the main level without us needing to go through the chaos upstairs” They entered the now derelict room, with pipes, gages and levels on every wall, the computers used for monitoring statuses now long dead. They came upon a large, cylindrical tank with clear panels allowing people to see inside the reactor. The windows were now shut, with thick metal shudders closing them off from the outside. Much to their surprise, the reactor went down a fair bit, with a string of stairs and elevators leading even further down. They took a look down, and saw a pool of glowing blue water, now drained to a mere few yards. “Shinji” asked Noda, “Is this a nuclear reactor?” Shinji nodded and noticed a small Geiger counter ticking away. “Radiation…it’s leaking through the containment cell. That along with the walker meat is what made the people go insane!” Noda eventually found a large switch, with a clear plastic box protecting it. He broke the box and pushed the switch up, causing the room to rumble and shake, causing the lights to flicker on, and the reactor whirred to life. Shinji grinned and radioed, “Emiko, Dr. Moon, is the power on in your section?” ================================================== Dr. Moon grabbed the radio and excitedly replied, “Yes! Power is now at peak levels!” Shinji continued, “Care to explain why you felt it was a good idea to leave out the fact this is a mini nuclear reactor, doc?” Emiko shot her a look, with Dr. Moon explaining, “I am sorry for leaving that out. We have been looking for a stable reactor that could not only harness Nuclear energy, but Geo-thermal energy as well. This was going to power the entire main island, if utilized. Now, we have no choice but to leave it” Noda interjected, “There is radiation spiking here doc. We are getting out of here, if you don’t mind. I don’t feel like going bald” Dr. Moon noticed the security cameras lighting up, and the feed was now broadcasting live footage of the main levels. The Eaters were panicking, flailing their arms and screaming, filling the speakers with pure noise. “We should have never brought them here” bemoaned Dr. Moon, with Emiko rubbing her shoulders, soothingly telling her, “You couldn’t have known they would turn…” ======================================= The elevator reached the main level, and the door opened to reveal dozens of former people, screeching and running around, until the door stopped their panic. They all noticed the 3 men and screamed inhuman noises, lunging at them. The 3 opened fire, killing several as they made their way through the hallways. The lights flickered, with Shinji yelling, “Power is going out! We need to run!” They then ran through the labs, with more Eaters tumbling over themselves attempting to reach the group. They arrived at the main service elevator, when suddenly the elevator shut down, as indicated by the power light going off. Shinji noticed an emergency maintenance hatch on top of the elevator car, and broke open the hatch, clambering on top of the cage. Gabe and Noda joined him, while Eaters filled the car, scrambling to reach them. Gabe pointed to the open door to the surface level exit and grabbed onto the elevator cable. “We could climb this up to the door and jump to the door! With the power out we have no choice!” Shinji nodded and stripped off his riot gear, before hurriedly telling the other two, “Take it off! It will only weigh you down and drag you back!” The three soon had their armor off as they jumped on the rope, and began to climb it, and after a few minutes they were a good distance up, when the Eaters, who had gotten out of the car, soon noticed them climbing and began to jostle the rope, in an attempt to shake them off. Shinji looked up and saw they were 2 floors away from the door, with Emiko reaching for them. The metal rope swayed and the 3 began to lose their grip, when Noda looked at Shinji. “They won’t stop…they won’t stop…I have to let go. Give you a chance…” Shinji’ eyes grew huge and he screamed, “NODA DON’T!” Noda smiled slightly and let go of the rope, falling down the shaft and landing on the cage roof, allowing the Eaters to tear into him and begin their feast, promptly ignoring the other two, who finished their climb tearfully. They were pulled in by Emiko first, and then Emiko and Shinji helped Gabe off, as they heard the wet ripping and crunching below them. ========================================== In the office Shinji asked Dr. Moon “What happened to the elevator power? Was it just the power going out?” Dr. Moon shook her head. “Before we locked this facility down, a system overpass was created for the intent of keeping any possible radiation leakages under control. The power would lock down sections where even the smallest amount of radiation was present, and while I don’t think your exposure will cause long term ill effects, the systems detected the rads and shut down the systems on that floor. I don’t know how to disable the overpass for the whole lab, but I would have if I could…” Shinji sat on the floor, with his knees close to his chest. “I am sorry about your friend, Mr. Akai, but…he died on his terms at least” Gabe irritably asked, “How long until you can override the lockdown on this level?” The doors clicked open, and the lights in the main entry room flickered on. Dr. Moon smiled and answered, “Now, actually” The group gathered their supplies, including additional MP5 ammo and the food Dr. Moon had in reserve, as they made their way out of the facility. Emiko looked back and asked, “Won’t the lights attract more dead?” Shinji coldly replied, “Then they will be locked in with the Eaters…less Walkers for us to deal with, don’t you think?” Emiko pulled Shinji aside and hugged him, whispering in his ear, “I am sorry you had to be put in this position, Shinji…you shouldn’t have had to do that” Shinji looked at her and brushed his fingertips against her cheek. “You remind me of someone I knew a while ago…and I did what had to be done for us to survive. I did what I had to” Emiko ran her hand down his chin and met up with the other two members, with Shinji close behind. That morning they were camped inside a moving van, using mattresses to sleep on while Gabe took up guard duty. Dr. Moon awoke to find Gabe rubbing his eyes, yawning widely. “Hey, sleepyhead, I can take over” she told him playfully. Gabe looked at her with amusement, then at his MP5. “You even know how to use this?” he asked. Dr. Moon shook her head. “No, but I guess now is the time to learn, don’t you think?” Gabe shrugged and handed her the MP5. Before he crawled on top of the blue mattress, he asked her quietly, “Those Eaters…I can’t get them out of my head…how will I sleep?” Dr. Moon sadly sighed. “I am trying to figure that out myself. Guess it’s all about adaptation nowadays” =============================================== The group awoke the next morning to hear gunshots in the distance, with the shots getting closer and closer to the moving van. They gathered their supplies and opened the door to find a young woman armed with an AKMS on the other side. Gabe, without thinking knocked the gun out of her hand and threw her inside, slamming the door shut after the group got out. The woman screamed, “FRESH ONES OVER HERE GUYS!” They ran, being chased like game through the nearby field, with the men chasing them like hunting dogs after a quail. Gabe fired his gun back at the men chasing them, only to not have a single shot land a hit. Eventually they came across a road lined with abandoned cars, and stopped running. Four men and one woman cornered them with their rifles rasied. The woman smirked and boasted, “Tired? Well I wouldn’t worry too much…trust me, your supplies are well worth the chase. Now, hold still…” She racked a shotgun shell into her pump-action when suddenly five shots pierced the air, and the five pursuers were lying dead on the ground before the group realized what had happened. Shinji looked around, and out of the bushes a man, dressed in bright orange clothing approached him, his lever action rifle lowered. “You are the one who saved us?” asked Shinji, receiving a nod in return. “Why? We are total strangers to you” inquired Dr. Moon. The man pulled off his hat to reveal a bald head with a face that sported a small beard. The man smiled and bowed politely. “Because, the Buddha smiled upon you, my friend” as he looked every member in the eye. “My name is Hua-Ji, and I am here to offer you a place in my home,, away from these outside troubles” Emiko cautiously asked the man, “And where is this…home?” Hua-ji smiled even wider, replying: “Why, the Garden of course!” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the season finale of The Walking Dead Japan: As two of the three groups attempt to determine the validity of the Station safe-zone, a new evil looms over them.
