Always been open to the idea of a tattoo, but could never decide on anything I'd absolutely agree with for the rest of my life. There's a few things I wouldn't mind having tattooed, only it would have to be a really class design. And no colours.

Once you are damaged you can only go up from there.

PepperAnn I came into the thread before I realised you'd tagged me in it! lol. My opinion is that regrettable tattoos aren't so likely to be regrettable in this day and age as long as you don't rush in and get one on your 18th birthday as a last minute decision, in the middle of someones kitchen or in some skank tattoo shop when you're on holiday. Back when I got my first tattoo cheap tribal 'tramp stamps' were all the rage. Yeah... spent my 18th birthday under the needle. Does it look shit? Hell yes. Do I regret it? Hell no. Why? Because it slowed me down and now I have 11 (with 12, 13 and 14 planned this year) that I love. They're not all to everyone's taste. They have absolutely no meaning apart from... 'I wanted them' but they're a part of me and that's all that matters. I say if you like tattoos and like the idea of having one (or 50) GET ONE. Don't let fear stop you from doing something you might even NOT regret. And worst case scenario.... tattoo lasering is well good, innit. You'll be fine. Here's a little selection of some of my complete and incomplete tattoos. The fairie/unicorn one was the start of my now nearly finished sleeve my boyfriend did for me.

I've got two. One on the top of my left arm. The flag of St George, paid £50 for it twenty years ago, an ex work colleague of mine had a grandad that owned a business on Britannia Pier in Great Yarmouth and he did it for me. Looks a bit shit now and have considered covering it but I've got a few sentimental reasons for keeping it. I got it because I was emigrating to Australia in the next coming weeks. And I have one on my chest that's in Thai writing, it says 'ones own son' and has my sons birthday in Thai under it, I hope It says that anyway, it could be I'm a Plonker or what a dick or something. The tattooist could have been very intuitive. I did research first and I'm 99% certain it's what I hope it says.

I have a Mike Mignola skull above my wrist that has a great outline but the black fill in is spotty. I think of getting it fixed but it was given to me by a good friend who was an apprentice to my main artist. I was a first he was allowed to tattoo, now he is a killer traditional american tattoo artist and wants to cover it but I just aint ready yet, my wife says it has character.

I had trouble for years figuring out what I wanted. I knew I wanted one but what to put was the worst. Then it just hit me, the design popped into my head. My spin on the Phoenix, I felt I was the Phoenix, constantly rising up from the ashes. Then it was of my own design and personal to me, and not just some dumb flower or other things some girls get.
Now it's just getting around to going in and getting it!

That's funny my wife said the same thing about her first tattoo not wanting it to be girly. She ended up with half her forearm sleeved in black paisley and lace. Very intricate and pretty with out going pink.
