Episode 11 Hostilities and Calamities really confused me to no end when it comes to Dwight.

Yes, I lay part of the blame at his feet for the deaths of Glenn and Abe.  And also Olivia and Spencer to a lesser degree

Yes, he is not to be trusted.

Yes, he threw the good doctor under the bus or into the fire - either way, he set up the doctor to take the fall for Daryl's escape/Sherry's part in the escape.

But yet I still felt for him when he was going through his house and reading the letter that Sherry left for him.

His character is complex and that makes his character interesting.  Interesting does not always go hand in hand with liking.  One is not dependent on the other.  

Will I ever love his character?  Like I love Rick?  Michonne?  Jesus?  Sasha? etc. etc etc.  No way!  

Will I find a reason to forgive him or at the very least accept him begrudgingly as an ally to Rick & Co.?  That will depend on what path his character follows.  Will he be the inside guy for Rick or will he end up double crossing Rick?  

Too early to say, but I think going on that journey with the character will make for interesting story telling

I think it's complicated, which to my way of thinking, makes it good. I hate it when things are clear cut. This world is made for moral ambiguity.

I do believe that Dwight's motives are good. He has plenty of reason to hate Negan and now has nothing left to lose with Sherrie gone. I think he will be an asset to Team Rick.

However he outright killed Denise and was complicit in the deaths of Abe and Glenn, not to mention the hand he had in torturing Daryl. I think there will have to be some consequences if TF succeeds and Dwight survives the war. I'm just not sure what those consequences should be. I do think that those dilemmas may be a springboard for conflict within the group after the war arc is over. Would it be fair to ask Tara or Daryl to sit on their feelings regarding Dwight, when Rick would never be expected to do the same thing if it were Michonne or Carl who was killed or tortured? Good stuff!

I get what you mean and I don't think it's fair for Rick to ask Daryl or Tara to sit on their feelings. I think they all loathe Dwight as they saw him that night. He did after all jump up to shoot Daryl with his own bow that night. What if Negan had said go right ahead. But you're right. Rick wants to hear what Dwight has to say, but he would want to pull out his heart if he had killed Carl or Michonne. Or if he had him locked up and tortured. I don't think I'll ever come around to liking Dwight. But I really hope he does play a big role in helping our group out in the War. That would certainly go a long way with a lot of people I think. Myself included.
