Jun Masumoto – Shiraishi Shunya Jae Eun Rhee – Jung Eun Ji Takeshi Murano –Ryo Ishibashi Ruto Yashimura – Hamao Kyousuke Shinji Akai - Yuto Nakajima
Episode 101: - A New Idea Jun’s dreams were always a jumbled mess. Mostly incoherent flashes or nonsensical gibberish, but this was different. Jun could not move or speak. A shadow filled the room, followed by a large, man shaped monster, its red demonic eyes piercing the darkness. A hand stretched forward to grasp him, their intentions only it knew. Jun could feel his mouth open, but a hoarse choking noise was all that came out. His legs, glued to the floor. The hand grabbed him around the neck and squeezed tightly. Jun could feel his life draining right before his eyes, blood seeping down his shirt. The darkness surrounded him, enveloping his body like a tidal wave. “WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!” His alarm shook him out of his nightmare. He flicked the off switch on his clock in the shape of a neon green and purple cat, its face a warm smile. Jun forced himself up. He was tall by Japanese standards, standing at five foot eleven inches, his head sporting a soft brown pile of hair. His face was thin, a short nose with a small mouth below it, his cheek slightly depressed. A small scar was on his temple from a fateful encounter with a cat at the age of ten. He was not heavy set, but was thin enough to not be made fun of by his peers. Jun slipped out of bed and opened the window. At once the sounds and smell of the city flew into the bedroom. His neighbors were yelling about the rusting car in the garage. A cyclist sped down the road. Birds sung on the tree adjacent to his window. He rubbed his eyes and grabbed a shirt from the closet. He hated waking up. Especially for school nonetheless, but still, an education is what he wanted. After showering, he grabbed a breakfast consisting of a protein bar, a shot of cranberry juice, and what was left of the pizza he had ordered the night before for the party he had planned. No one showed up, much to his dismay. He stepped out of the dorm and took in the morning sunlight. A slight breeze kissed his face, as he unlocked his bike from the rack. The sounds of heavy footsteps thudding towards him prompted him to look up. Takeshi Murano, a somewhat heavy set man who was also the local police officer shoved a bag of cucumbers in his face. “Fresh from the wife’s garden!” he chortled. Jun took the bag and sniffed inside. “Isn’t your wife planning on using these for the pickles she is raving about?” he asked. Takeshi playfully put a finger to his lips, a grin spread on his face “Shhh. She never gives away produce this freely. Even if the world needed it” he laughed and headed back into the police car. He waved and took off. Jun stuffed the vegetables into his knapsack and took off towards his first class. He parked and secured his bike, seeing a group of fellow students waving at him. Jun waved back and joined them. His two best friends were gawking over a new singer in a pulp magazine. One of them, Ruto Yashimura, a baby faced and lanky 18 year old and the other Shinji Akai, a rich transfer student who’s skin was impeccable, along with his metro sexual choice of clothing. The three sat down and waited until Mr. Horo showed up to teach Philosophy. Ruto leaned over to Jun and whipped out his phone. “Check this out, man” he said with a faint tone of excitement in his voice. The phone lit up and a video pulled up to show a woman lying on the street, covered in blood, obviously dead. A policeman was checking the scene, when the woman woke up and reached for him. Jun scoffed “That is beyond fake you idiot” Ruto stuffed another handful of peanuts into his mouth and replied “I thought so too, but check this out” The video continued to show the cop yelling at her to stand down. The woman slowly shambled towards him. He fired his gun, bullets slamming into the woman’s chest. Finally, the cop aimed for the head and fired, sending the woman crumpling to the ground. Jun smirked as he pulled out his notes “You need to pay more attention to class, and less to kid’s pranks” Shinji shook his head “I think it’s real. Besides…you never know what the terrorists will unleash” Ruto laughed “Who? Kim Jong Un?” The three laughed as Mr. Horo walked into the class and plopped down a heavy book. “Alright class” he began “So today we will be talking about the philosophy of the inevitable outcome of life: death. Death is something everyone must face, but the religions of the world show us to never fear its arrival. Tell me, who can explain why death is feared?” Ruto held up his hand. “Because you will never be able to be with people who love you?” Mr. Horo smiled and nodded. “True. Jun, what do you think?” Jun straightened his posture and replied nervously “I think death is something everyone will face, and according to some” he looked directly at Ruto “We come back from it” Shinji snorted as Mr. Horo chuckled “Well it looks like someone has been watching tabloid nonsense. Apart from a few religious examples, no one has ever come back from the dead and walked the Earth” Jun shot up his hand “But what if it does happen? What would happen to society?” Mr. Horo shrugged “Then the world we knew would be in limbo. If death has no physical barrier, then what purpose does life have?” He pointed to the blackboard and sighed “Now, back to the books!” After the class Jun left his friends on his way to the next class: Horticulture. There was really only one reason he took the class at all since plants bored him to tears. And there she was. Jae Eun Rhee. She was shorter than Jun, had a slender body with her face accented with almost model like features. Her hair was black with purple and red highlights. She was always hit on by the jocks & rich kids, and she always rejected them. Jun always wondered why she never dated any of them and why she sat next to him. Maybe she cheated off his work, and to be honest he didn’t really care. She saw him and waved with a giant smile. He blushed and waved back. Jae Eun gasped in fake horror “Have you seen the new video about that girl who died and came back” Jun rolled his eyes. He shook his head. “Its fake you know.” He replied coolly. Jae Eun cocked her head “You sure? Sure seems real to me”. Jun nodded “Youtube is full of these kinds of pranks. Always done for attention. The idea of coming back from the dead is silly”. She laughed and waved a finger “Come on, let’s grab the best seats before the nerds grab them” Jun used all of his strength to not stare at her in class. After the class was over, Jae Eun grabbed his arm “Hey! I was wondering if you would like to go the new dance club in town, NeuroNeon?” Jun’s eyes widened “NeuroNeon?! Why me?” Jae Eun grinned “Because I want someone who will dance and not stare at my breasts the whole time! So what do you say?” Jun fumbled “S-sure! I would love to! I will get my best clothes!!” Jae Eun smiled and handed him a piece of shiny paper. A large “VIP” was sprawled across the top in shiny metallic letters. He looked up to see Jae Eun grin. ‘Now you don’t have an excuse to stay inside all night tomorrow. Don’t be late” she cooed. Jun nodded and waved goodbye to her. Ruto and Shinji ran up to him, with the latter asking “What was that about dude?” Jun quickly stuffed the VIP pass in his pocket and stammered “N-n-nothing!! What are you two up to tonight?” Ruto pointed backwards with his thumb “Going to the Nam Nam arcade for the newest Street Fighter game, Alpha Sigma Ultra Smash! It’s so hot everyone is itching to play it! Wanna join?”Jun smiled and shook his head “No I’m afraid I can’t guys. I have homework to do” “Homework? Please…besides, we are going to hit up the Korean clubs nearby afterwards” Shinji enticed, as Jun again shook his head. “Sorry, I can’t” Ruto pretended to ball a fist “Okay bozo. But when Shinji and I are the highest paid Street Fighter players and are drowning in hot women, you will regret it” Jun laughed “I really doubt that will ever happen. Get out of here you losers” He walked away and pulled out his cell phone, dialing a number. “Hello?” a feminine voice answered. “Hey mom, this is Jun! How’s home?” His mother, Haruna, replied “Oh you know, cooking, cleaning, vacuuming, making sure Hideki does his homework. You should see the flowers that are beginning to bloom!” Jun walked past the people that were bustling back home, inquiring “The Petunias, right?” “Marigolds! I also think the Lazy Luna’s will bloom within the week. Anyways, you have anything planned for the weekend?” Jun looked at the VIP pass and lied “Nope. Just homework and some light gaming. You know my college life is never exciting mom” Haruna laughed and tittered “You really should go out with friends once in a while. It’s not healthy for you to just wallow in your room studying all day, everyday” Jun smiled as he rubbed his thumb across the raised VIP letters. “Sure mom. Talk to you tomorrow?” “Of course sweetie. Love you Jun” He hung up and stuffed both the phone and VIP pass in his pocket. Jun usually cut through the business section of town in order to reach the dorms, but he also had another path which led through a small factory section. He always hated going through here, but it was the only area of town with an actual Kool Chill gas station. He always loved going to one for a Kool Chill slushy, which today being the hottest day thus far warranted one. He rode up to the gas station and parked beside the door. The inside was cool, with the smell of disinfectant permeating the air. He nodded to the owner and poured himself a Kool Chill as the older owner scoffed at the TV in the corner “Another BS illness spreading around. Swine flu and now this? Why can’t the US keep their germs to themselves?” Jun replied “They say sharing is caring” The owner laughed and rang up Jun. Jun nodded and paid for it, getting on his bike. He was about to kick off, before he heard a faint groan. He parked his bike and headed towards the groaning. Maybe someone needed help he thought. He walked down a long alley, with trash littering the ground, garbage cans long forgotten. He knew about the homeless people who often stayed here during the hot summer days, but it was eerily empty, save for the noise. Jun turned a corner to find a figure dressed in torn clothing bending over what appeared to be a dog. Jun for a fleeting moment thought it was a homeless man mourning his dog…until he heard the crunching of bones & the sound of flesh being torn. Jun’s eyes shot open to see the figure stuffing pieces of the dog into its mouth, gristle and blood dripping from its chin. Jun slowly backed away, bumping into the brick corner. He turned but his feet gave out, sending him falling into a pile of cans. The cans rattled loud enough to wake the dead it seemed. The figure stopped eating and stood up, turning towards Jun. Jun then saw the face. One eye was missing & a huge gash was on its cheek, blood spattered all over, with dull grey eyes locked on Jun. The low gurgling noise was replaced with a loud, guttural shriek. Jun ran as fast as he could but he tripped yet again. The former man lumbered towards him still, his shoulder hunched over with his arms reaching towards the fumbling Jun. Jun grabbed a nearby brick and stood up. “BACK OFF!” he yelled. The man still followed him. Jun looked back, hoping to see a policeman or anyone in fact. He dropped the brick and ran inside the Kool Chill. The owner was stocking smokes. “Back so soon? Forgot something I bet-” he saw the look on Jun’s face. “What the hell is wrong, boy? Why are you so pale?” He looked over Jun’s shoulder to see the man stumble into the store. The owner angrily shouted, “HEY! It’s not yet Halloween! Stop scaring this boy or-” he was cut short when the man grabbed him and sunk his teeth into his neck. The owner screamed and collapsed onto the floor, blood gushing out of his neck. Jun gasped and screamed “HELP!” The man jolted away from the owner and went towards Jun again. Jun ran thru the chip aisle, and saw the automotive section. A screw driver in a plastic package was hanging on the hook nearby. Jun grabbed it and scrambled to open it. The owner in the meantime crawled for the phone, and dialed the police. “G-g-get here now!” he gurgled into the phone. Jun finally opened the package and held the screwdriver towards him. The man was upon him, and Jun plunged the tool into the heart of the man. The man didn’t seem to even notice, and still snapped at him, saliva spewing out of his mouth. Jun slid the screwdriver out of the chest and remembered the video he saw “This better work!” he shouted. He yanked the hair back and slammed the screwdriver into the eyeball hard. The man stopped and sank to the floor, snapping its jaw. Jun backed away and watched as the man writhed, black blood seeping through the wound. Finally, the man stopped and went limp on the now bloody floor. Jun panted and saw the blood coating his hands. They shook violently, and he nearly collapsed, had a shelf not been nearby. He made it to the front of the store to find Takeshi standing there, having just arrived with his car parked outside. “What happened? What-” he then noticed the body. He walked carefully towards it and nudged it with his shoe. “It’s dead?” he asked, his face growing dark. Jun nodded slowly. Takeshi picked up the screwdriver. “You did this?” Jun again nodded. Takeshi tossed Jun a rag “Clean yourself off kid” he said smiling faintly. He then noticed the owner. He jolted over to him and placed his finger on his neck. There was nothing. “Takeshi…is he…” Jun began to ask. Takeshi grunted and turned towards Jun. “He was bit…in the neck by that…man” Jun explained. Takeshi blinked, his face having lost its cheery expression it always had. Takeshi pulled out his radio “We need a containment doctor here now. Location: Kool Chill on South Tokaro Street”. He then pulled out his handgun, a polished snub-nosed revolver with a white handle. Jun frowned “But the man is dead” He exclaimed. Takeshi grunted “it’s not for him…” he motioned towards the owner of the shop, now pale on the floor. Takeshi held the gun up to the forehead of the owner, whose eyes shot open, now pale grey. Black veins popped across his face, and a faint growl was heard. Takeshi crumpled his face “I am so sorry friend” he mournfully exclaimed. Jun was about to protest this action, when a loud BANG was heard. Takeshi had fired his handgun, and the owner slumped against the counter wall, a bloody hole in his forehead. Jun shook, and choked “You….you shot him Takeshi!” Takeshi shook his head. “No...He had turned.” he quietly replied. “He…what?” Jun whimpered. “Turned…you will find out soon enough, I am afraid”

CHAPTER 2: -Confirmation “Let me start, Mr….” the police officer raised his eyebrow as he flicked through a thick brown document. Jun sat staring at the table, the growls and snarls of the man thundering through his mind. Takeshi shook Jun’s hand, shocking him out of his trance. “It’s Masumoto. Jun Masumoto” The other policeman shot Takeshi a short look and cleared his throat loudly. “Mr. Masumoto, you and officer Murano were at the scene together. Maybe you can fill us in what Takeshi already gave us?” the officer asked harshly. Jun straightened in his chair. “I was at the Kool Chill…I heard a noise coming from the alley, and I went to investigate. I saw someone bending over a dog…he….it was eating it” The policeman leaned forward. “Eating it? Like an animal?” Jun saw the blood dripping from the chin onto the ground. “Yes..it was stuffing meat into its mouth. I tripped and it saw me and came after me.” Flashes of the man lurching towards him triggered a deep shiver throughout his body. “I ran inside and tried to get help. That thing tore out….” He choked. Takeshi meanwhile stared straight ahead, horrified “…tore out his throat. He was dead by the time I arrived on the scene. He t-” () “OFFICER MURANO!” the other policeman bellowed. He gritted his teeth and shot back to Jun “You are not accused of murder, but you might get asked to come in again. Please don’t leave town…or spread false rumors” he hissed slowly glaring at Takeshi. Jun grabbed his satchel and left. Takeshi ran up to him and put his hand on Jun’s shoulder. “Please, you must understand…I had to shoot him” Jun turned to see tears streaming from his red face. Jun looked at his feet, still covered in black, sticky blood. “Explain it to me then. Make me understand why shooting a man who is dying like a dog is ever justifiable.” Takeshi clumsily stuffed a note into his hand and hurried to the questioning room. Jun could see Takeshi being scolded and screamed at by the other officer. Takeshi nodded and sat down, burying his chubby face in his equally chubby hands. Jun made it home, and sat on the floor. He ripped his shoes off and threw them in the trash. He sat with his back against the wall, his room totally dark and silent. He remembered the note Takeshi stuffed into his hand. He had since shoved it in his shirt pocket. He pulled it out and read it. It said only this: “MY HOUSE. ATTIC. MEET ME THERE AT MIDNIGHT ~T” Jun looked at his clock, seeing the time had clicked over to 10:30 PM. Since Takeshi lived two buildings down, he had time to study. He opened his laptop, and searched “Dead Person becomes alive again”. At once a flurry of forums and message boards flew up. Most were crackpots thinking it would make for an interesting movie idea. Others were cynical, and bombarded anyone who fell for the nonsense with hateful comments. At last, he found a video on Reddit. Title: LA MAN DIES AND COMES BACK. He clicked the video. The video showed the man being checked up on by American Paramedics, before pulling one of them towards him, snarling and flailing his arms. The paramedic was peeled off the man, and at once began to chase anyone moving. Police ran up and began to fire, bullets riddling his chest. One officer finally shot him in the head, dropping the man. The paramedic was bleeding from what appeared to be a bite wound, then the video cut. Jun frowned and sipped an energy drink. No way could this be related to what had happened at the Kool Chill. He had seen reports of psychos getting high off paint and other chemicals and going on rampages. It was probably just that. After all, if anyone is to be doing crazy things and put them on the Internet, the Americans are the ones. He felt his pocket buzz. His phone was vibrating, due to Jun having a fear of embarrassing himself in class with a ringing phone. He checked it, and saw Jae Eun was calling. He immediately answered. “Jun? You there?” Jun’s gut was twisted. She sounded so cute over the phone. He slapped himself. “ERRR yes, I am here, Jae Eun? What’s up?” A short giggle followed. “I was just wondering if you are still up for NeuroNeon tomorrow night. I don’t want to miss it. Or you for that matter.” Jun twitched “W-what do you mean?” he fumbled. A chortle floated through the phone’s speaker. “Silly…I know you try to not stare at me in class.” Jun gulped. “It’s that obvious, huh?”. He wondered if he should let her know about the man. Better to not make her think he was a nut. “It’s so obvious.”Jae Eun replied. “Honestly, you are different than the majority of the guys who drool over me. You aren’t always thinking of me and your jewels in the same thought line” Jun forced a small laugh. “So…I am going to meet you there, yeah?” he asked. “Yes…and don’t worry, you will find me. Later killer!” Jun hung up. He looked at the clock. 11:50. Might as well see what Takeshi wanted to say. He stuffed his phone in his pocket, but also his punch spike. It was a knuckle duster he always kept in case he was mugged. A spike about 4 inches long would fold up to lock in place for added intimidation. This was strong enough to punch a hole in wood. His dad gave it to him before heading off to college, saying not to let the police see him with it. He locked the room and headed to the Murano house. It was a small two story house, plainly decorated, with a large garden plot on both sides of the pathway leading up to the house. A sign read “Unless you are bringing Dessert, please wipe your feet” this was only on the side of the house because Mrs. Murano was known for her odd humor. He knocked. The door opened, and Mrs. Murano, a woman in her 40s, with a slightly thicker shape answered it. “JUN!” she gasped delightedly. “It’s been forever! What can I do for you, sweetie?” Jun smiled. “I am here to see Takeshi, ma’am” He responded with a polite bow. “Oh he is upstairs. Hard day at work. Terrible job I must say. Takeshi always comes home and wolfs down his dinner…but not tonight.” Her smile faded. “He just went up there. Hasn’t said a word. Hope he isn’t fired.” Jun nodded once. “Can I talk to him?” “If you can pry something out of him, I would greatly appreciate it. The man is usually incapable of not yammering.” She patted him on the back and watched as Jun climbed the steps. The attic was dark, but clean, with only a single window illuminated by the moonlight. A small table with two chairs, and a few knick-knacks were in the room. Jun saw Takeshi staring out at the moon, not turning to face the other person. A bottle of imported Dan Jackson rum was on the table, with two shot glasses on the table. One was half full. “Takeshi? You wanted to talk?” Jun inquired. “It’s gorgeous, isn’t it?” a depressed voice asked. Jun replied “The moon, you mean?” “Yes. It’s…pure. Innocent. Not stained with blood.” Takeshi turned and faced Jun. his face was red from a mixture of crying and strong drink. Jun straightened in the chair. “Takeshi, why did you shoot the man? What do you mean turned?” Takeshi poured a shot for Jun. “Take it” he ordered softly. Jun took the glass and sipped it. The strong, potent burn was enough for him to grimace. “I shot him, Jun, because he would have killed us. Both of us” he gunned a shot down and wiped his mouth. “The store owner would have become what that man in the alley became…a walking corpse. Some call them Walkers. Others call them Infected.” Takeshi poured another shot. “First case was in Tokyo. Some American GI came to a hotel with two party girls. Most likely prizes for him to take. Supposedly, he had taken a large dose of Heroin. Died in his sleep. One of the girls woke up to find him ripping…” he stopped and gunned another shot. “…ripping her stomach open. He had already torn out her throat. She barely made it out alive. She had been bitten, and had stabbed him in the back of the head with a pencil. We found her body outside, having bled to death. The health minister called the whole thing a drug escapade. But…during the autopsy, she came back. Same grey eyes, same black veins, and the same growls. It attacked the examiners, and bit one. I heard about this from my boss, who swore it was a prank.” He cocked his head and chuckled “Now I know it isn’t. This is what we are going to have to live with for the rest of our lives.” He gulped down a final shot and threw the glass on the floor, shattering it. Jun flinched but remained seated. “So…these things are going to keep coming?” he asked, leaning in. Takeshi nodded. “The government is scoffing at the idea of walking corpses. But with so many dead…” Jun straightened himself quickly. “How many are dead? All I know of is the Kool Chill owner”. Takeshi chugged a shot straight out of the bottle. He wiped his mouth and sniffed, holding back tears “Fifty”. “Fifty? But…we would have heard-“ “NO! YOU DON’T GET IT JUN!” screamed Takeshi. “We are all going to get the fever, burn up and die. Then come back!” He tore his shirt and broke down “and there isn’t a goddamn thing we can do about this shit!” he sobbed. “Oh god, I never wanted to see my friends, MY FAMILY being torn apart.” Takeshi sobbed in the corner, the bottle draining its amber contents onto the small rug under the table. Jun picked up the bottle and sat next to the old policeman. “We survived two nuclear bombs. We will survive this, Takeshi, I promise.” He wrapped an arm around the man and hugged him. Takeshi scoffed through the tears “It’s not very manly to hug another man, you know Jun?” Jun chuckled and handed Takeshi a tissue he always had in his pocket. “I guess spending 5 years in America does that to a man” Takeshi accepted the tissue and stood up. “I…I better begin packing. The countryside is more remote…safer” He nodded, comforting himself with the idea. “Jun…I know we are not allowed to have weapons. But if you need one, there is a key under the cactus plant pot. It goes to the trunk in the closet” Jun nodded and began to head down the stairs “and Jun-” Takeshi murmured. Jun turned to face the old man. “-even when the world is dead, and you are at your end, never stop being the man I know now. You are a good kid, and I think of you as a son I wish I had as my own. Be the good man for others to follow. Survive this nightmare.” Jun nodded and went down the steps. That night Jun had the one word that stuck in his mind the most echo around his thoughts: Walkers. He went to sleep, thinking about the final words Takeshi pleaded with him. It was a Saturday, so no school. He had only a small 3 page paper to finish, and then he would be done with finals. Jun slept in till noon, with the knocking on his door shaking him from his slumber. He groggily opened the door to find his friend Shinji, standing there with his phone out. “You seen this, Jun?” he asked, letting himself in. Jun opened the fridge and poured a glass of apple juice “Seen what?” he grunted. Shinji almost shoved the phone in his face. The screen lit up, and showed a man running away from what appeared to be another shambling corpse. The man fell, and was set upon, a spurt of blood spraying the ground neck to his face. The corpse was thrown off, and the camera focused onto the man, his nose and upper lip torn off, all the while screaming as blood gushed from his wound. The camera then swerved to the corpse, who had been forced against a brick wall. Another man kicked its shin, causing it to fall, then pulled a gun out and shot it. The corpse became limp and the final words heard were in Korean. “It’s in Korea too” Shinji said, gloomily. Jun grabbed the phone. “When was this posted?” he asked. Shinji took it from Jun and scrolled down. Suddenly, the video vanished, a giant JSDF symbol appearing in its place, with the words “THIS VIDEO IS NOW THE PROPERTY OF THE JAPANESE SELF DEFENSE FORCE.” Shinji pocketed the phone “DAMN!” He angrily took a bite out of an apple on the small table. Jun sipped his juice “That was mine you know”. The rest of the day Jun cleaned, did chores & played a few video games. He couldn’t fully enjoy them though, due to what he had seen on the phone, & from what Takeshi had divulged. He dropped his wallet, and as he was picking it up, he found the VIP ticket for NeruoNeon. “OH DAMMIT!” he nearly yelled. He was supposed to meet her at 6 PM. It was 5:29 PM now. Jun slapped on his best clothes, spritzed some good cologne he had purchased on his neck, and bolted out the door. He made to the club at 5:57, and breathed a breath of relief. He parked his bike which was a double seated one he usually used for carrying books and looked around the entrance of the club. Several young Japanese, Korean & a few American people went into the club. He looked around, and was suddenly blinded. “Guess who?” a cheery voice sang. The hands covering his eyes were removed, and he turned. Jae Eun stood before him, her hair styled into a fashion not dissimilar to that of a Korean pop singer, with her slender, toned body wrapped in a silky gold & red mini skirt & her top consisting of a black satin blouse, which has the sides cut out to reveal her hips. Jun could feel a nervous pit in his stomach as he looked her up and down. “You look….nice” he choked. Jae Eun smiled sweetly “When you are done getting a mental image, shall we go, tiger?” she asked with a wink. Jun nodded awkwardly and entered the club. Entering the club they were bombarded with neon greens, reds & oranges. The floor lit up with a starburst pattern wherever they stepped, and the ceiling was mirrored. Music roared throughout the club, a heavy synth beat. Jae Eun led Jun through the dance-floor and up a staircase lined with neon. A large platform was overlooking the dance-floor, which was the VIP lounge. The DJ ended his track and put on a new one. Jun recognized it: Angerme’s One by One, One after Another. Jae Eun took his hand and drew him close. “Umm….thanks for inviting me Jae” Jun nervously uttered. Jae Eun smiled and brushed his face with her hand “Jun, you are an idiot. You seriously haven’t noticed that I have liked you?” she bluntly asked in a playful tone. Jun slowly nodded “I…did. But I am not the kind of guy to jump into things head first” he lied. Jae Eun laughed. “You are such a nerd” He ran his hand up her back and smiled “Maybe…but I know how to dance too” Following his lead, the two lit the floor up, and they danced, with Jae Eun moving closer to Jun, and him closer to her. Their hearts were beating furiously, but not from the dancing. Jae Eun threw herself at Jun, and tilted her head up, her eyes closed. Jun gulped and thought “Screw it”. He leaned in and their lips locked. He could feel her melt as their lips touched. Jae Euns fingers dug into Jun’s back, and Jun ran his hand up the back of her neck and through her hair. They unlocked their lips, and Jae Eun smiled warmly “Now that’s more like it, handsome” Jun nodded “So maybe we can do that more often” he asked. Jae Eun giggled “You are a total loser…but I like that Jun. It’s endearing” she said, squeezing his hand. Jun leaned in, with Jae Eun leaning in also, their lips about to lock- “AIIIIIEEEEE!” a harsh scream reverberated through the club. The music was cut instantly, as Jun and Jae Eun looked over the railing. A dancer tumbled in, her tight white dress covered in blood. Jun looked at Jae Eun and ran down the stairs. The other dancers ran close to help her, but then another scream filled the club. “WHAT IS THAT?” Jun had just arrived on the main floor to hear the scream. He turned and saw her. A dancer covered in blood, her neck impaled with a large knife. Her eyes were dull grey and her mouth dripping blood and gristle. Jun immediately had a flashback to the Kool Chill. He breathed in deeply and looked at the dancers “LEAVE!” he bellowed. Jae Eun ran to his side and saw the Walker. She gasped and clutched Jun’s jacket. Jun turned to her. “Get this girl to safety!” he said urgently. Jae Eun clutched his jacket for a moment, and then gave him a peck on the cheek, before running and grabbed the girl, dragging her to safety. Jun pulled out his punch-spike, unfolded the spike and held his fist against the walker. The walker lunged at him, snarling and snapping. Jun grabbed with one hand her throat, and with the other her arm. He used a Judo move he had been taught by Takeshi to throw her to the floor, a splotch of light erupting from the floor tiles. Jae Eun had taken the girl outside, when a man in a black suit pushed past her and went into the club. Policemen poured into the building after him. Jun pinned the walkers arms under his knees, and using his other free hand held down her head, exposing the temple. Police surrounded the two. “SIR, BACK AWAY FROM THE INFECTED!” one officer barked. Jun had a sudden flash of remembrance, of the screwdriver stabbing the walker from the store. He screamed and slammed with all of his strength the push-spike into the temple. A wet crunching noise was heard, followed by the squelching of blood oozing out of the wound. The girl stopped moving and gnashing her teeth, and lay still at last. Jun stood and saw the police lowering their guns. One officer walked towards Jun and asked “You okay, son?” Jun nodded. Meanwhile, in the balcony overlooking the main floor, the man in the suit pulled out a cell phone and dialed. It rang, and then the man simply said “We have confirmation of a person experienced in killing Infected.”

CHAPTER 3 – Knowledge
The man overlooked the bloody club with mild interest. There was an almost deafening silence on the other end of his cell phone. “Are you sure he knows how to kill one?” the voice on the phone questioned. The man nodded “Yes. He plunged a spike into the temple of a dead girl. It did the trick” he replied checking the time on an expensive wrist watch. “Ronin, you might as well bring him in. Someone like him is bound to be detained by the police.” The voice commanded. “And the girl who was with him? What about her?” Ronin inquired. “Leave her. She is only going to make things more…complicated.” Ronin bit his upper lip. “As you wish.” He hung up and left the club. Ronin was thin, with a square jaw, small eyes, and shallow cheeks. He always preferred wearing the best suits, especially ones that allowed expensive American cufflinks. His hair was coiffed, with a single strand curled around his left uppermost part of his forehead. He stepped outside to see Jae Eun catching a glimpse of him. He turned and approached her, softly grabbing her shoulder. She turned sharply to smack whoever was groping her, but she stopped when Ronin leaned in and whispered “This is not the only one”. Before she could even question what the hell he meant, he had vanished in the crowd teeming around NeuroNeon. ---+--- Jun brushed aside the nurse’s hand. “I am fine I assure you miss” he huffed. He had a few minor bruises, but nothing major enough for a doctor. The nurse smiled and playfully planted her hands on her hips “That’s Miss Akiko Nakayumi to you. And you are fine when I say so” Jun grunted and let her examine him. “Poor girl was out of her mind on drugs” she sighed mournfully “she probably didn’t even know she was doing what she did” Jun closed his eyes. “She was dead.” Akiko stopped applying ointment on a small scrape and stood back a bit. “So…you know?” she asked dreading the answer. “Yes I do” Jun responded “and I also know you are trying to keep this quiet.” Akiko leaned in close “You should keep your voice down, if you want to be able to keep moving around freely. The JSDF are containing anyone who knows.” she advised. Jun frowned, “The why give me the heads up?” he asked. Akiko grinned cutely. “Because I think you are handsome. Shame to let that go to waste, am I right?” Jun nodded and smiled in a controlled manner as Akiko patted his arm with a cheery grin. Jun saw Jae Eun standing outside the hospital doors, a worried look clouding her n normally bright face. “What was that Jun? What…” Jae Eun tried to ask. Jun grabbed her by the arm and whispered “Meet me at my place tonight. We need to have a talk about what just happened”. =+= Ronin stood impatiently waiting for the good doctor to finally arrive. He hated having to wait around for anyone, and despite Dr. Karukara being the most qualified person to handle this disease, she had the bad habit of being habitually late. The room was bland. Sterile. Fluorescent lights lit up the surgery suite, with the smell of disinfectant permeating the air. His nose curled with the other smell wafting about: decay. He picked up a scalpel from the nearby table and slipped it in his pocket. Maybe, he thought, he could use this to cut his thumb during her boring diatribes. Or his neck. The door opened and in floated a beautiful woman, her face slender and sloping down to a small pointed chin. Her eyes were dark, as was her dyed auburn hair, with her slender, petite body wrapped in a grey and satin pencil skirt. Ronin was not usually into academic types…but she could keep him entertained any lonely night for all he cared. She noticed his eyes wandering up her legs and cleared her throat. “Is there an issue?” she asked with clear hostility. Ronin smiled and replied “only if you want one” cheekily. “Dr. Mesuji…nice to meet you” she introduced herself with an annoyed look that was only more exacerbated by the smile Ronin gave her. “So Doc…why am I here? Unless you want to get to know me better” he replied with a deep tone. Mesuji ignored the advances and slid out a body on a roll cart. Ronin looked at the body and then back to Mesuji. “She’s the girl who was bitten at NeruoNeon” he remarked. Mesuji nodded once. “She was bitten by an infected. Later, she died from a 110 degree temperature fever. Boiled to death essentially” she explained “bites, no matter where, kill you” Ronin peered at the naked body on the roll cart. “So…why hasn’t she turned? Every other case thus far has lead to a turn” Mesuji pursed her dark red lips. “Every turn is different in terms of duration. One took 3 days…another 2 minutes. She only died 30 hours ago” Ronin made an affirmative grunt, and then cocked his head as he examined the girl. He placed his head close to her, and heard a faint gurgle. His eyes widened. “It’s happening” he exclaimed. Mesuji placed her head close by too, and heard a louder gurgle. The eyelids of the girl fluttered and then flew open. Her eyes had turned dull grey, and her mouth slowly opened. Ronin whipped out his highly personalized handgun, a 1911 colt with a dragon’s mouth opening to reveal the end of the barrel, lined with gold, silver & and the handle wrapped in leather. Mesuji gently forced his arm down and tightened the restraints. The now turned girl struggled furiously to move under the leather straps. Mesuji calmly glided over to the table and picked up a bone saw. She motioned for him to put on a face mask, which he did. She then cut around the skull and gently popped off the skull cap. Her eyes widened. “Look at this!” she gasped. Ronin glanced at the discovery. The brain, once pink with dark red veins, had turned into a dirty ivory color, with black veins now engorged with thick blood. “This sample could be what we needed! Every other sample has been from a dead infected, and now…now we can possibly make a cure” She sliced off a portion of the brain and plopped it in a sample cup. Ronin became rigid. “Doc…what the hell was the point of all that? Why bring me here? I am here for protection, not anatomy” he demanded. Mesuji smiled sweetly “I wanted you to see what the Japanese people will become…if this is not handled. Remember, we are paying you to make sure there are no containment leaks concerning infected. Is there one?” Ronin hung his head. “Yes, but they are being rounded up” he murmured. “Good! Now if you will excuse me, I need to make sure this doesn’t degrade any more than it has already” She stopped and glanced at Ronin. “Also, if you want to get in my pants…you never will” she sweetly retorted. Ronin looked at the floor as she left, then back to the struggling walker. “I hope you are wrong” he said under his breath. He then left the room. =+= Jun opened the door to let Jae Eun in. She immediately hugged him tightly. Tears flowed down her cheeks as she choked “I was so worried!” Jun coldly stared at the wall behind her “I’m fine. I think you should sit down” he said in a void tone. Jae Eun sat next to Jun, her hands shaking as he held them. She laughed weakly “Look at me. A Med student...and my hands are shaking like this. What kind of doctor will I become?” She looked at Jun, whose face had drained of color. “You won’t be a doctor. No one will anymore. No one is going to have a future.” Jae Eun cocked her head in confusion. “What are you talking about?” she inquired. “That…thing at NeuroNeon. That was just the beginning” Jun replied. “That methed out girl?” Jae Eun asked, her face growing more worried by the second. “It wasn’t a girl anymore Jae. She wasn’t methed out…she was dead.” Jun numbly explained. Jae Eun gawked at Jun with pure confusion. “Dead? You mean after you killed her? Which was for the best, I should add” “She had died previously…and then came back. It’s happening everywhere. People who are dying are not truly dead. They come back and then…become monsters.” Jun then buried his face in his hands. Jae Eun sat motionless. “Are…you insane?” she quietly asked. She ran her hand up his back to try and snap him out of his trance. “Look…I know what you saw was horrible. I still see it whenever I close my eyes. But…you can’t be serious in thinking that this is widespread. It’s a drugged out girl. Nothing more…nothing less” Jun looked at her, tears dripping down his fear stricken face. “Everything we saw on the internet…it was real!” he cried. She cupped his face in her hands and looked him in the eyes. “Maybe…I can help you forget?” she playfully asked. She pulled down her shirt strap to show off her pink bra. Jun blankly stared, then nodded. As they stood up, the doorbell rang. Jun opened it, only to be instantly slammed onto the floor. Policemen and JSDF swarmed the room, and pinned Jae Eun against a wall, slapping handcuffs on her. Jun looked up only to see a rifle butt being raised. He heard “He is infected! Secure-”before being struck hard with the butt. Blackness surrounded him. Jae Eun screamed “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” A JSDF pointed a gun in her face, shutting her up. A man dressed in military attire stood by as Jun was dragged off outside. “Captain Masumoto, your son is in custody!” one JSDF soldier exclaimed. Jae Eun stood completely shocked. “WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOUR SON?!” she yelped. Captain Masumoto looked at her and replied “He didn’t tell you about me? Not surprised.” He waved an arm and a sack cloth flew over her head. Meanwhile, the same JSDF soldier walked up to the command car. “We have the suspected infected under arrest.” He saluted and walked off. Inside the car, a man in an expensive suit with an arm covered in tattoos lit a cigarette and replied in a gruff voice “Not the warmest of family reunions, huh Captain?” as the Captain entered the car. Captain Masumoto didn’t even look at the man as the group left the house. =+= Jun awoke strapped to a chair, the room totally dark save for a single light lamp on the table in front of him. His head pounded. A voice from the shadows boomed out “You know how to kill them. We have seen it.” Jun tried to look at the source of the voice. “Who are you? What do you want with me….” He suddenly remembered about Jae Eun. “JAE EUN!” he yelled. Suddenly the chair roared forward towards the table, Jun’s face slamming onto the surface. A cold metal tube was pressed against his face, followed by a click. “Keep screaming and you won’t see her. Got it?” the voice calmly warned. Jun grunted in acceptance. The gun was taken off his cheek and his chair jerked back into position. A man walked up to Jun and sat down. Jun’s eyes widened “DAD?” he croaked. Jun’s father, Captain Toro Kasumoto, folded his fingers into a steeple. “Listen, I know this is probably the last way you would want to talk to me. But this situation we are in is too serious to simply ignore.” Jun smirked “Sounds like the same bullshit you would tell Mom, Hideki and I” Toro’s face twisted in rage “ENOUGH!” he roared. “OR ELSE WHAT? YOU’RE GONNA KILL ME? LET ME TURN?!” Jun screamed back, venom coursing through his words. “You never cared about any of us! Always driven by you sense of honor. And now you seem to care. What a complete failure you are!” Jun spat furiously. Toro sank into the chair. “Jun…Japan is going to crumble any moment. We can’t contain this. The dead will soon become too great to simply hide” he leaned in towards Jun “The Health minister is trying to contain this…but this virus is too complex. It’s spreading rapidly. And we can’t stop it. You have killed two of them already, the infected. You know more than the average person at this point.” Jun frowned in confusion. “So what? Am I under arrest?” he asked. Toro swallowed hard “No son…I am trying to save as many as I can.” Jun again frowned “By putting a gun to my head? And kidnapping me and Jae Eun?” Toro stood up and undid his restraints. “That was not my doing. It was his” he pointed to the shadows, where out of which a man with a tiny beard, dressed in fancy suit with his neck & his arms covered in tattoos. Jun’s eyes widened. “The Yakuza?” He gasped. Toro tiled his head “The military is hunting down anyone who has any contact with an infected. So far, as we speak, thousands of people are being rounded up. We could only sneak you away. The Yakuza offered to protect the people being falsely accused of being infected. Like you.” He then pulled out a pistol and set it down on the table. Jun looked at it. “What…what am I-“he began. Toro put a hand on his shoulder and looked his son in the eyes. “It’s time to be the man others can follow. It’s time to grow up” he said warmly. Jun looked down then picked up the gun along with the holster. “What about Jae Eun?” he inquired. The Yakuza man walked towards them. “We are working on that. Ronin is dealing with that” he explained in his gruff voice. Toro smiled confidently “We are getting her back, son” =+= Jae Eun grasped the wire fence, looking around for Jun frantically. The sound of thousands of angry Japanese citizens filled the large room. It had been in a previous life a cup factory, now converted into a holding area. She turned to see a large, greasy man approach her. Jae Eun winced “Why are we here?” she asked timidly. The man wiped his mouth “JSDF must be trying to contain whatever the hell this thing is by killing us all” he grunted still stumbling towards her. “Which means, since we will be dead soon…no need for me to worry about jail time again” he exclaimed as he pinned her against the fence. He sniffed her hair, and ran a finger down her neck. He looked at her shirt and grinned sadistically. “This is the best part: when they don’t even fight back” he grunted licking his lips. He tore her shirt off, exposing her pink bra. She finally gathered her wits and slammed her knee into his groin. The man yelled and fell backwards. “You slut!” he roared. He stood up and pinned her against the fence even harder with one hand, the other balled into a fist. He raised his fist to slam it into her small face- A loud shot was heard. Jae Eun heard the noise, followed by the feeling of warm spatter on her face. She looked to see the man had been shot in the eye, and then tumbled into a crumpled heap. The whole room was now quiet save for a few gasps and murmurs. She turned to see a man in a fancy suit, his forearm wrapped in a dragon tattoo. Ronin lowered the gun and opened the cage door, allowing Jae Eun to tumble out. She looked up at him. “You’re welcome” he coolly remarked, offering her a hand. ========================================================================

SUMMARY: AS JAE EUN AND RONIN LEARN ABOUT THE NEW WORLD, JUN AND HIS FATHER ATTEMPT TO RESCUE SURVIVORS AS THE DEAD BEGIN TO OUTNUMBER THE LIVING, AND SOCIETY CRUMBLES.
EPISODE 4- No Entry Jun and Toro sat in the back of the SWAT van with around 8 other rogue policemen and Yakuza members, all dressed in riot control armor. The trip to the holding area was a long one, since the police had not been informed of the location prior to the kidnapping. Thus, they had to follow Ronin’s bread crumb trail of street’s and intersections. Jun kept his eyes glued to the pistol his father handed to him. He had been taught how to shoot during a trip to the countryside, where his dad brought along many handguns and rifles. He was like an average American in that way: he loved beer and guns. Jun himself was a crack shot, maybe even slightly better than his father, but Toro would never admit it. Toro smirked “This isn’t exactly how I imagined out father son vacation would start” he joked. Jun smiled faintly. “What, rescuing my girlfriend? Sounds like an everyday thing families do” he joked back. Toro chuckled and looked at his handgun. “Never thought I would see you of all people using one. You were always the bookworm. Now, Hideki…” his face fell. Jun stood straight up and leaned forward. “Hideki he’s not…dead is he?” he whispered. Toro shook his head. “No no no. He is fine. I…sent him and your mother to the vacation house near the Hokkaido border. You remember it, right?” he asked. Jun did remember it. It was an old World War II bomb shelter transformed into a vacation spot for his family. Jun’s grandfather used to be stationed there, so during the summer they would spend the whole summer relaxing and lounging around, only to return in the fall. Jun looked his father in the eyes. “I won’t let anything happen to Jae Eun, dad. Nor to mom or Hideki” He said softly. Toro smiled faintly and sighed. “Wish I could have seen the two of you together. She must be a special woman” Jun nodded with a broad smile and warmly replied “She is” Toro smiled broadly. “I have missed you son. You are just like I should have been at your age.” He said, patting his son on the shoulder. Suddenly, the driver of the van loudly exclaimed “The hell?” Toro grabbed the radio and dialed in a frequency. A fizzled voice on the other end barked, “The riot is getting out of hand near Haruguchi Street. Please be advised, the Masu Mesu Mall is overrun and sealed off. Get your sorry asses over there pronto!” Toro yelled, lying “WE HAVE WOUNDED HERE!” The radio again barked “Pardon me sir, but this is a direct order from the Minister of Defense. We cannot risk allowing the infected to take over that portion of the city. As is, our communications are beginning to fail. GET OVER THERE!” The radio loudly cut out. Toro looked at his son mournfully “We have no choice” he explained. He waved his arm and ordered the van to head to the direction given. Jun buried his head in his hands. ~=+=~ Ronin held out his hand to Jae Eun. Confused, she whimpered “Aren’t you the man who bumped into me at NeuroNeon?” Ronin nodded. “Now let’s get out here before security finds us” The woman took his hand and stood up. Jae Eun pointed to the dead man Ronin had shot “What about him?” Ronin shrugged. “He was turning, I stopped it from spreading” he lied. Jae Eun stood in front of him abruptly “Turned? What does this mean? My boy-” she stopped herself. Was Jun something more to her? “My boyfriend told me about turning. Like the girl at the club” Ronin kept silent as he led her down the hallway and into a storage closet. He shoved a lab uniform in her direction. “Here, this will make them think you are a tech person, and not a jail-broken hot Korean” Ronin instructed. Jae Eun was miffed with the term hot, but obliged him. As they left the closet, Ronin peeped at an empty hallway, and led her down it. He took her to the room he and Dr. Mesuji had examined the infected. It was locked up in the security container used for storing prisoners usually. He pulled off the tarp, and the walker lurched forward, growling and snapping its teeth at Jae Eun. Jae Eun was taken aback, and covered her mouth in horror. Ronin put his hands on her shoulders. “This is what I meant by turned. No matter how you die...gunshot, poisoning, old age. This is what will happen.” He tapped on the glass, further aggravating the walker. Jae Eun slowly lowered her hand from her mouth. “She is dead?” she asked. “IT is dead. It’s not longer a girl. These things look like us…but they are empty shells.” Ronin somberly explained. He turned her towards him. “Look, I am part of the Yakuza. I was sent to escort you to the evacuation point” “Jae Eun shook her head in shock “What evacuation? What the hell is going on?” Ronin somberly pursed his lips. “You’ll see soon” he replied ominously. ~=+=~ The SWAT van pulled up to the scene. Immediately, a fire grenade slammed into the windshield. The driver yelped and grabbed a pistol. Toro stood up and handed Jun a helmet with a red line in the middle, as well as a riot shield. “Take these, and stay close to me, son” he ordered. Jun whipped out a nightstick and followed his father out the van. The once calm and clean street was filled with dozens of angry rioters. A few dead bodies were lined against the nearby building, each with a clean bullet wound in their foreheads. Jun strangely didn’t feel anything. He looked at one rioter and raised his shield to block a beer bottle. Toro saw his son deflecting the bottle, but saw another rioter coming up behind him, a large knife in his hands. Toro yelled out “JUN!” Jun turned and blocked the blow with his shield. A spilt second later, he slammed the nightstick down hard on the attackers head. A loud thud resonated thru his ears. The attacker was knocked off his balance and landed with an oomph. Jun then saw his father waving his arm, rallying the other disguised members to his location. After running for about a block, Jun and the company came up to the metal, makeshift barrier blocking the mall entrance. The sign above it read, “ALL DEAD. UNSAFE FOR ENTRY.” Toro looked at his father confused. “Why are we here?” he asked. One of the Yakuza members placed an ear against the wall. “I hear someone alive in there!” he gasped. Toro straightened himself, and looked at Jun. “There is someone alive in that mall. Until JSDF can clean this up, we have to get them out of there. Understand, son?” he questioned. Jun replied, “I understand, dad.” Toro motioned for one of the SWAT members to open the door on the count of three. One. Jun felt the adrenaline surge through his veins. Two. Toro raised a pistol, and motioned for Jun to follow suit. THREE. The two of them, flanked by 4 of the SWAT members, entered the mall. ~=+=~ Jae Eun followed Ronin through the hallways avoiding any large groups of JSDF and the police force. Eventually, they came across a large room, filled with people in cages. Jae Eun stopped and looked through the glass window. Ronin stopped too, and tried to drag her away. “Come on! We have to get out of here!” he insisted. Jae Eun ignored him. She saw a tablet screen on a small table and grabbed it. The screen read in green letters “GAS RELEASE IN 30 SECONDS” Jae Eun frowned. “Gas?” Ronin looked at the tablet also in confusion. He then raised his head in horror “Oh my god…” he croaked. Jae Eun looked at him, her head cocked. “What?” she inquired. Ronin gulped “Look…I have been helping the government in an attempt to contain the dead. It’s been laborious. But I never knew how they would deal with the large numbers of infected people who haven’t turned. Now I do…” Jae Eun tugged his suit sleeve “WHAT?!” she nearly yelled. Ronin stared at the room as the timer reached 5. Then 4. 3. 2.1. A loud hissing noise suddenly rung through their ears, as a pink gas flooded the room. The people in the room below began to scream and cry out. Jae Eun gasped in utter horror “They…they are murdering them!” Ronin’s face contorted in rage and he tried to undo the release. The gas cleared, and the people all lay on the floor. Jae Eun fell against Ronin, her eyes welling up with tears. “They murdered those innocent people!” she cried through the tears. Ronin angrily adjusted his suit. “Come on!” he barked. He led her out of the room, as a few of the freshly murdered people began to turn. He was about open the door to let her out, when she stopped in her tracks. “Come on! You can get out of here!” Ronin urged. Jae Eun shook her head. “I won’t let the people get murdered like the others. We have to save them!” she said defiantly. Ronin stood in front of the door. “What happened to the scared little Korean girl I saved 30 minutes ago?” he asked. Jae Eun looked at her hands, still covered in the man from the cell’s blood “She grew up. We need to survive together. ALL of us” she replied. Ronin shook his head. “What about your boyfriend?” Jae Eun bit her bottom lip “Jun would do the same” she replied in a matter of fact manner. Ronin wiped dust off of his suit angrily “Why not?” he muttered. “These bastards lied to me anyways” he growled as he loaded his dragon decorated 1911. He handed her a Walther PPK. “You’ll need it” he said grimly. The two then went down the corridor. ~=+=~ The mall was filled with the dead in sealed off venues and secured hallways. Jun was directly behind his father as the 6 of them moved cautiously into the dead building. Toro yelled out “Is anyone here?!” “YES!” a familiar voice called out. Jun perked his head up. “Shinji?” He called out. Toro shot a look at his son. “Who is Shinji?” He scowled. Jun replied “My classmate. He and I are friends, dad.” Toro swallowed in frustration and again yelled “Are you alone, and are you bit?” Shinji called out “No, I have my girlfriend, Yui. And no I am not!” Jun looked at his father with a panicked look. “Look, we could use their help! Come on dad!” he pleaded. Toro grunted angrily and the company made their way to the two. When they reached the area the two were hiding, Shinji jumped out with a fire poker aimed at them. “Easy there!” Shinji warned, pointing the poker at Toro. Jun stood in front of his father and lowered the makeshift weapon. “You never were good at Kendo” he joked. Shinji breathed a sigh of relief. “OH THANK GOD! SOMEONE I KNOW!” he cried, and he then awkwardly hugged his friend. A pretty young girl with a round face and short, bobbed hair peeped out of the corner. “Shinji?” she asked in a quiet voice. Shinji stopped hugging his friend and ran over to the girl. “This is my friend, Yui Kinoshita. We…met here after the police ran off and sealed the mall” he explained. Toro frowned. “Why would they leave you here?” Shinji fidgeted around and replied “Because they are trying to contain the dead. No matter the cost to potential infected. And as a result…we got stuck here” He looked at the SWAT members behind Jun. “You with him?” he asked hopefully. Toro put his hand on Shinji’s shoulder and spun him around. “Look, kid. We need to get the hell out of here before the JSDF show up. Grab your friend, and let’s get out of this hellhole.” Shinji nodded, and grabbed a duffle bag and instructed Yui to grab the backpack nearby. As they were packing up, one of the SWAT members went over to a sealed up venue, a bra shop. The clear Plexiglas window was buckling under the strain of so many dead pushing against it. He placed his hand on the glass to feel the strain. Toro suddenly shot him a look and screamed “HEY! DON’T TOUCH THAT GLASS!” Suddenly the glass cracked, and dozens of walkers poured out onto the floor and onto the SWAT member, tearing into him, while he screamed and flayed his arms around. Toro grabbed one of the SWAT members and yelled “GET OUTSIDE NOW!” The SWAT members ran down the stairs with Yui in tow, leaving Toro, Jun and Shinji behind. Toro unsheathed his military Tonto and plunged it into the eye of one walker. Jun whipped out his nightstick and smacked it down hard onto the skull of another, only to have it snap in two. He looked at the broken end, and then grabbed the walker by the collar and slammed the sharp end into the temple of the infected, killing him. Shinji was behind Jun and cracked the knees of one walker, then arched the poker up and crashed it down onto the head of the infected. A loud crunch followed the landing. Jun turned and saw an infected about to bite his father, and in one motion drew his pistol and shot the walker, downing it. Toro looked at the dead walker, and smiled at his son, filled with pride. Toro drew his revolver and shot an infected about to approach him. Jun handed Shinji a knife, and the three huddled into a triangle, each killing an undead as more approached. Shinji stabbed one with the pointed end of the poker, while Toro brought the butt end of the pistol down hard on another. Jun placed the gun under the chin of one dead and shot it, spewing blood everywhere. He reloaded, and watched as his father shot one about to bite him while his defense was down. Shinji lost his knife, and yanked out the broken nightstick shaft, using his hand to pull a walker down and then stab it with the other hand. The last walker approached the three and both Jun and Toro raised their guns, shooting it dead. Deafening silence filled the air. The ground was littered with dead corpses, while the three men were exhausted, but in one piece. The SWAT member who had been previously killed turned and stood up, his helmet gone, and his face chewed up and torn. He slinked toward them, but before either Jun or Toro could shoot it, a gunshot rang out, and the turned SWAT member dropped to the ground. The three turned to see a squad of JSDF soldiers aiming their guns at the three. A man in officer’s fatigues walked up to them. “Captain Masumoto, you are under arrest for evading governmental instruction and for disobeying a direct order.” He flaunted with a smiled. His name was Major Toji Namashita, and he was a tall, yet thin man in his 30s with a square jaw and large bags under his eyes. A surly smile stretched across his lips. “Looks like the 3 of you did our jobs already. Thanks!” He said, extending his arms in a mocking manner. “Now…if you would drop your weapons and come with us, please” he instructed. Jun and Toro dropped their pistols, while Shinji dropped the snapped nightstick handle. Shinji looked at Jun while putting his hands behind his head and said bitterly “Beats the hell out of being eaten at least” as handcuffs were slapped on the three of them. ~=+=~ Ronin and Jae Eun arrived at the main computer server room, where dozens of towers hummed as they processed data. Ronin looked at the directory, searching to find the main cage release breaker, since every part of the building was annexed off to prevent confusion for engineers. He found it, and began to pry open the main breaker box with a screwdriver he stole from one of the technician’s earlier that day. As he began to jam the screwdriver in the box he turned to Jae Eun. “You have any family here?” he asked, keeping her pre-occupied. Jae Eun shook her head. “I am from Seoul originally. It was just my grandmother, my younger sister Hyuna and my older brother Glenn” Ronin kept prying open the box, as he replied “Glenn? Not very Korean sounding” Jae Eun smiled “He went to America early on. I still keep in contact with him somewhat. I hope he is surviving this…” she lamented. Ronin popped the lid off the breaker box and turned to face her. “If he is like you, he is doing alright. I promise”. Jae Eun smiled as Ronin then flipped the switches. A loud ERRRMM noise was heard as power died in that part of the building. Ronin smiled confidently “See? Told you it was not too hard” The celebration was halted by a shrill alarm, warning of a possible unauthorized entrance. Ronin scanned the room quickly and then pointed to an old laundry chute near some barrels. “Go hide in there! I will come back as soon as I can!” Jae Eun ran over and jumped into the chute. Ronin pulled out his pistol and aimed it in the room, pretending to be busy. A dozen JSDF soldiers swarmed in, rifles drawn. “Sir! What is the situation?” one demanded. Ronin holstered his gun and shook his head. “Someone was in here, cutting the power. I wanted to turn whoever it was in” he lied. One soldier looked around and then back to Ronin. “The area is clear sir…are you sure they ran in here?” he questioned. Ronin sighed forcefully. “Maybe, maybe not. I will check back later I suppose” the soldiers lowered their guns. One came up to Ronin and saluted “Dr. Mesuji wishes to speak with you, sir. She said it was urgent” Ronin rolled his eyes. “She must be into me. No other reason she would call on me for no reason” he joked. One soldier shrugged. “She’s a great piece of ass sir…with all due respect” Ronin forced a laugh. “She is. And I promise she won’t hear that comment, soldier. Now…shall we?” he replied, opening his arm in an inviting manner, allowing the soldier to leave. He looked in Jae Eun’s direction and winked, leaving the room. Jae Eun got out of her hiding place after a few minutes and crept over to the breaker box. As she placed her fingers on the switches, a voice said “Might want to rethink that” she turned and pointed the gun at her guest. The older man lowered the gun with his hand. “I am a friend of yours and Jun’s. My name is Takeshi Murano” he explained. ======================================================================== Episode 105 summary: With Jun, Shinji and Toro captured by the JSDF, Takeshi and Jae Eun attempt to get as many people out of harm’s way. New Cast: Mr. Black – Choi Seung Hyun AKA T.O.P Scientist - Satoshi Tsumabuki Dr. Kasunoku - Ryo Kase Episode 105 summary: With Jun, Shinji and Toro captured by the JSDF, Takeshi and Jae Eun attempt to get as many people out of harm’s way. Ronin learns a dangerous truth. EPISODE 5: SHINDA “So…how did you end up in this mess?” the man asked a defeated Jun. He was Korean and dressed in what appeared to be South Korean military fatigues. He was shorter than Jun, and spoke in a deep baritone voice, and had a slim oval shaped face, his eyes striking and mysterious. “I assume” the Korean soldier continued “you were trying to escape the city. Me? I came from Pusan. Place was almost overrun when I left. Island hopped over here until I was caught” he explained as Jun kept his face buried in his hands. Toro had been taken out of the cell earlier, so the cell was only inhabited by the Korean, Jun and Shinji. Shinji tapped his foot nervously looking around. “Jun, did you see the others? Did you see Yui?” he asked in a panicked tone. Jun shook his head. The Korean leaned back and crossed his legs. “Guess you two are stuck with me until they decide when to off us” he casually threw out. Jun perked up. “Kill us? How? There are so many of us here!” The Korean pointed to small, round nozzles around the room. “See those? Those are used to pump toxic shit in the air. It’s a more humane way to kill us” he said, making air quote with the word “humane”. Shinji shot up and grabbed the fence. “HEY YOU BASTARDS! ARE YOU REALLY GOING TO KILL US ALL?!” he screamed. The guard didn’t flinch. Jun stood up and guided Shinji to the bench so he could sit down. The Korean smiled. “Name is Mr. Black.” He introduced himself with. “I was part of the main South Korean army. Now…I am a dead man” he lit a cigarette with a match and puffed it as if nothing at all was wrong. Jun knocked the cigarette out of his hand. “LOOK” he demanded, “if you have a way out of here, now is the time to spill it friend” Mr. Black looked at the fallen cigarette and calmly walked over and picked it up, placing it again in between his lips. “You two want out? That would take a miracle” Shinji moaned in defeat. Jun looked at the control room above the main cells, and saw several people observing them. “What are you up to?” he asked to himself. ============================================== Dr. Mesuji watched the people in the cells bustling about with thoughts racing through her mind. She read the latest test results: negative effect. All subjects turned after death. She bit her upper lip and sighed heavily. Ronin waltzed in and stood beside her. “So you just can’t get away from me, can you?” he flirtatiously cooed. Mesuji smiled sweetly. “So the dog can follow orders. Shocking” she said with a fake cheery tone. Ronin ran a hand through his hair and smiled. “Only if it means seeing you without that dress someday” he coyly replied. Mesuji handed Ronin the test chamber tablet. “This is for the future of Japan, you know. This gas, once distributed, will kill whatever this is, and neutralize the possibility of people turning once death occurs. With some refinement, we can add it to the water supply harmlessly” Ronin bit his inner cheek to prevent him from striking her. “Really? And what about the walkers already in the restricted areas that are GROWING every day? You know that more and more people are getting sick and dying, right?” Mesuji tilted her head as if thinking about something else. “The JSDF will deal with them. As long as more people do not get bitten, we should be fine” Ronin adjusted his suit. “So why did you call for me?” he asked. Mesuji ran a small, delicate hand down his suit covered chest “Because…you will be reassigned to the Kyoto branch in 2 days. I know you were meant to be stationed here for an extended period, but orders are orders” Ronin nodded and turned to leave. “I will keep up my duties until then. Doctor” Mesuji grabbed the tablet that had been placed on the small table near her by Ronin. She checked the timer for the next sample of gas. It was about to be ready in 3 hours. She could hardly wait. =============================== Jae Eun was stunned “You know Jun?” she asked suspiciously. Takeshi handed her a document. Inside was the registration of the captured SWAT team members. Jun’s name was near the top. “I was his neighbor…the local policeman. I won’t let him be harmed.” He defiantly proclaimed. Jae Eun stuffed the Walther in her pocket. “So how did you get in here?” she asked. Takeshi pulled out a JSDF badge. “I was the first officer in Japan to encounter a walker, so the JSDF consider me an expert on them. I have some access to restricted areas. But now, with the city collapsing, we need to get Jun and the others out of here. I was planning on breaking him out” he said, looking behind him nervously. Jae Eun pointed to the breaker box “Why not pull the switch now?” she asked. Takeshi pointed to a sticker reading, “Dead Containment Facility” “If this switch is pulled, the cages for prisoners won’t be the only thing to open. They are keeping hundreds of infected in a large room. Probably for experimentation. Cut the power and all of our friends run straight into them. We would need to warn them first” Takeshi explained, gently bringing her hand down. “Besides, I have another idea”. ==================================================== Toro could feel the blood dripping from his mouth. His head ached from all the punches and blows he had received. Major Toji Namashita rolled down his sleeves and sat down. “Look, Captain, I didn’t want to do that, but you know why I did it, don’t you?” he asked in a mockingly innocent way. Toro looked up and spat out “Because you are a morally dead piece of shit that’s why! Murdering citizens? What are you getting out of this?!” Namashita pulled put his handgun and pressed it hard against Toro’s forehead. “You know, I could pull the trigger and no one would care. Or…” he lowered the gun and smiled “…maybe your son would be a more effective way to punish you. Now, how about you answer the question before I test my theory: where are the rest of the infected citizens?” Toro spat blood on the floor and chuckled. “They were dead. Before I got my son, my group arrived to the safe house. They had all died and turned. You are chasing the dead, Major. And I hope to God they catch up to you in the end” he growled. Namashitsa raised his gun again. “You know what? Maybe I will kill you for abandonment of the JSDF first, THEN you son for trespassing on governmental property. Sounds logical to me” He pulled the hammer back on the gun and placed it against Toro’s temple when the door opened. Namashita holstered the pistol and saluted the person walking into the room. Toro looked up, his eyes swelling from the beating. All he saw was a person in a grey & dark red uniform. “Who the hell are you?” he grunted. The person replied “My name is Doctor Mesuji. And I want to know what you were thinking, Captain Masumoto.” ==================================================== Jun noticed a guard approaching his cell, his rifle raised. Shinji shot up and threw up his fists “You want to take us?” he asked with nervous bravery. The guard raised his Howa Type 64 rifle at Shinji. Mr. Black stood up and in front of Shinji. “Look, the kid is nervous, so forgive his blunt stupidity. What do you need, friend?” he smoothly asked. The JSDF soldier lowered the rifle and pointed to Jun “We need him. Don’t make things hard for either one of you. Now, you come with me” he said behind a gas mask. The second soldier, a female saluted the other soldier and followed him and Jun as they went through the building. Eventually they reached an interrogation room. The female soldier locked the door and took off her helmet. Jun was stunned. “Jae Eun! How did you…” he began, but stopped when he saw the first soldier remove his helmet to reveal Takeshi. “Murano!” Jun gasped. “What are you guys doing here?” he asked. Jae Eun hugged Jun and kissed him firmly on the lips. “I was so worried about you!” she choked. She held his face in her hands, and kissed him again. Takeshi coughed forcefully, and replied “We are here to break you out. We found these duds in a supply closet, so now we can get you out” Jun shook his head. “Thanks, but we need to get 4 other people of mine out of here. Shinji, his girlfriend, a Korean guy and…my dad” he explained. “I won’t leave them here, Takeshi. I can’t.” Jae Eun choked back a tear and looked Jun in the eyes. “Please…don’t leave us…I don’t want to lose you. I can’t lose you” she said softly, her lips quivering. Takeshi suddenly spoke up “Wait, we can manually shut the gate containing the dead, and release the cages with the prisoners. I think I can shut it down” Jun nodded. “Then we do that. Takeshi, shut down the power. Jae Eun…come with me. We are getting my father out of here. We are getting ALL of us out of here” he boldly declared. =============================================================== Toro was shoved in front of the control room window overlooking one of the infected citizen holding rooms. At least 3-4 dozen people were yelling and crying to be let out. Mesuji glided up to him and picked up the control tablet on the table. “I think a change in scenery is required once in a while. You see this?” she said, raising a tiny vial of florescent pink liquid in front of him. Toro frowned “What is it?” he asked. Mesuji toyed with the vial in her tiny, flawless fingers. “This is IHV 001 Antigen. The IHV stands for Infectious Human Virus, and this is a possible cure for it. Once someone has this in their bloodstream, they will never turn on death. Of course, it’s still in its beta test phase, so it might have a few kinks. Still, we can’t just give this out, now can we?” she asked hypothetically. Toro’s face was kinked in confusion. “Then why make it? Why not try to help those thousands of people dying and turning? They are your people for Christ sake!” he snarled. Mesuji licked her lower lip. “You know what has happened to the world because of this? Governments have collapsed. England, France, America, China, South Korea. The whole world is dying, Captain, with Japan being the last pillar of humanity left. Sure thousands will die, but thousands more will live. And those that live will be the caretakers of all of the knowledge accrued. You see, we are going to ride out this storm, and build a new, more superior Japan, while the rest of the nations scramble and fight each other for scraps. You understand?” she said, placing a hand seductively on Toro’s chest. Toro nodded slowly. “I understand perfectly” he sadly replied. Mesuji patted his cheek and left the room. Ronin came behind him and led him out of the room. He placed him back in his cell and slipped him something. “For when the time is right” he mumbled. Toro looked up in confusion. “What do you mean the right time?” he asked. He looked around the cell. “WHERE IS JUN?” he demanded. Mr. Black puffed the cigarette and stood up. “Some GI took him. Damn near shot the other kid” he said with a sly smile. Shinji looked at his feet. “It’s my fault they took him, Mr. Masumoto” he said mournfully. Toro put his hand on Shinji’s shoulder and smiled in a fatherly way “Don’t blame yourself, kid. You aren’t a bad friend at all for my son” he assured. Ronin looked at Mr. Black. “Who the hell are you supposed to be?” He asked. Mr. Black smiled coyly. “I am just another person scrambling to survive the new world, friend. And these fine gentlemen are going to do just fine in it.” Toro looked at him with confusion. “What are you? A soldier?” Mr. Black shrugged. “Yes. Whether it’s one of honor or fortune, that’s the question. Now, how about we get the hell out of here, huh?” he said as Toro opened his hand. A key was wrapped in a note reading “WHEN THE FIRST SHOT IS FIRED, RUN.” ================================================================== Mesuji activated the gas chamber. The pink gas spat into the room, filling the air and causing the captured citizens to scream and bang against the cages. One of the scientists shot up and stormed in front of Mesuji. “YOU CAN’T KEEP DOING THIS!” he roared. He grabbed a pen and held it as if it were a knife. Mesuji tilted her head and calmly pointed to the window. “Observe, Dr. Kasunoku” Dr. Kasunoku looked out the observation window and saw that the people were still alive in their cells. Mesuji smiled and proudly proclaimed “We have cured whatever this is. As for what we’re doing, I think the ends justified the means. Now, drop the pen please” Kasunoku dropped the pen and kept staring out the window. “Incredible!” he gasped. His amazement was cut short when Mesuji jammed a needle full of pink fluid into his neck. Kasunoku spun and instantly began to choke and vomit blood. Mesuji stood above him as he fell to the floor, gurgling on his blood. “That is the first batch of the antigen, Doctor. And it has a 1% cure rate. The other 99%? Well…I think you were saying something about stopping it?” she said in a mocking way. The other doctors stared in horror. One guard raised his rifle to the now dead Kasunoku. “None of you have vision. Everything I have done is for the betterment of Japan. And we are now-” she was cut short by a shrill scream from another doctor. She turned and saw the people below were panicking and convulsing. One grabbed another person and tore into their stomach screaming. Mesuji’s eyes were wide with fascination. Suddenly, the room burst into flames, as the containment security procedures activated. The people were seen burning and screaming. One was a child no older than 4. Mesuji sighed. “Prepare the next batch then” she said with bored interest. The other doctors were horrified, but sat down to begin the next batch. She pointed to the dead body of Kasunoku. “Get rid of him before he turns” she ordered. ========================================================== Jun, dressed in military attire, walked casually through the labs, looking discreetly for his father. The labs were filled with scientists, officials and soldiers overlooking cultures and tissue samples. A large man dressed in what appeared to be an overcoat motioned for him. Jun, not wanting to stick out, went over to him. The man entered a large room, with the main wall covered in a giant screen. Jun stared at it in amazement. “You need to keep an eye on the people here” he ordered. Jun looked at the group of scientists. “Why me? What’s wrong with you?” he asked. The man looked around nervously, then undid a bandage, showing a large bite mark on his arm. Jun looked at him in shock. The man sadly explained, “I was bit on my way here. Things are getting worse out there. I will leave and end it quietly.” Jun nodded and looked at the scientists. “I will take care of them.” He promised. The man turned to leave then Jun remembered. “Wait, I need to ask you something” he said to the man. The man turned around and replied “You are looking for someone close to you?” with a groan in pain. Jun nodded. “My father, Captain Toro Masumoto” The man thought, then replied “he was taken into the main holding area I think” He then slunk off into the dark hallway next to the room. Jun entered and looked at the giant screen. A large map of Tokyo was sprawled out, with a grid pattern overlaid on top. Splotches of red were everywhere. Jun went up to a scientist and asked “Excuse me. What are those red things on the map?” he asked. The scientist replied “Infected areas. Those are areas with the highest concentration of the dead” Jun’s jaw fell. “That’s over 90% of the city!” he gasped. The scientist nodded. “Look, Mesuji is out of her mind. We need to get everyone out of here before they are slaughtered. We know you aren’t a soldier.” He said looking Jun up and down. “Look, we are preparing to release the prisoners and evacuate them in trucks, then send them to the Shinda. Then, we will sail the hell out of Japan” the scientist explained. Jun jolted his head to attention. “The Shinda?” he asked. ======================================================================== Toro and Shinji sat on the bench in the cage, as they waited for whatever the signal was supposed to be. Shinji muttered, “I hope mom and dad are alright. I…wish I could have said goodbye. I wanted to hug my mother one last time…to see my father smile one last time…now…” he then burst into tears. Mr. Black chuckled and said “Man up kid. We need strong people now, not wimps” Toro stood up and punched Mr. Black hard in the jaw, sending him flying into the fence. “How about you actually contribute?! You are just wasting our time, puffing on your cigarettes and being smarmy” Toro roared. “My son could be dead! And if Shinji here dies due to whatever shit you have planned, I will break your neck. GOT IT?” he snarled in rage. Mr. Black nodded and wiped his mouth. “You certainly don’t hold back, don’t you?” he said with mild amusement. Shinji looked at the fuming Toro with gratefulness in his eyes. ====================================================== “The Shinda is an aircraft carrier that is being used by the navy to evacuate military families out of Japan. So far, we have 200 plus people on board. We can get everyone who is willing out of here” the scientist explained. Jun was flabbergasted. “And this key card will open the doors and cages?” he asked. “Yes” the scientist confirmed. “When you reach the main breaker room, press option 2. That will only open the doors and cages to the citizens. Option 3 opens all the doors…” Jun asked in confusion “Why not press 3?” The scientist swallowed hard. “That will open the doors to the rooms containing the dead. And if that happened, everyone would be in danger.” Jun nodded. He then ran off to the main breaker room. He reached it with only one hindrance. As he was just about to enter the room he was called to attention by a female voice. He turned to find Dr. Mesuji looking him up and down. “What are you doing, soldier?” she asked with caution. Jun stood straight “I am guarding this room ma’am.” He lied. Mesuji nodded and went about her business, taking a single look back. Jun took the key card and went into the main breaker room. He found the box had what had been jammed open by something in the past. He slid the key through the card reader, and the box popped open. He was about to pull the switch when a gun was pressed against his head. “You are under arrest” an unknown voice commanded. Jun slowly turned and faced the guard. The guard was about to reach for his radio when Jun grabbed him and slammed him into the wall. He knocked the gun out of his hand and kicked him in the groin, causing the man to fall on his knees. Jun whipped out a baton he had on his belt and struck him hard on the back of the neck, causing him to collapse unconscious. Jun dragged the body over to the laundry shoot and took his gun and radio off of him. He then dumped him in the chute. “Now let’s see what this does” he said under his breath, as he placed the key into the reader. A menu on the screen flickered to life. There were three options: one was to activate security measures in the caged areas, another was to only open the caged room doors along with the cages themselves, and the third was to open all the doors. Jun wasn’t sure what option to pick, since the guard made him forget which one. He hoped for the best, and pressed option 3. ====================================================================== Next on the extended season finale: The group attempts to reunite, as the world around them collapses and is overrun by the dead. NEW CAST: Nurse Akiko Nakayumi – Kiko Mizuhara Hideki Masumoto – Hiroya Shimizu Haruna Masumoto – Norika Fujiwara Misaki Murano - Kimiko Yo ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next on the extended season finale: The group attempts to reunite, as the world around them collapses and is overrun by the dead. And not everyone is making it out alive. Episode 6 (Season Finale) –On Our Own “So, where were you stationed before this?” a JSDF soldier asked another while passing him a cigarette. The other took it and lit it, replying “Kyoto. Things got too bad in Osaka, so I opted to be stationed here instead” The first JSDF soldier chuckled and grinned at the second. “Let’s both be honest here: you are only here for the hot women, huh?” he teased. The second laughed. “Come on man, have you seen our boss, Mesuji? I would totally-” The powered lights suddenly clicked off. The first solider grabbed his radio and inquired “System controls, what happened to the power? System operator?” the radio was filled instead with a blood curdling scream, followed by the sound of something meat like being torn. The second soldier suddenly cried “LOOK! THE OUTER HOLDING CAGES!!” as the large metal cages holding infected suddenly creaked open. The courtyard outside above the main complex was soon filled with the dead, as JSDF soldiers scrambled to contain them. A line of soldiers blocked the main gate and raised their rifles. An officer screamed “THREE! TWO! ONE! FIRE!” to his men. The soldiers began to fire, dropping a few walkers, as a large herd of possibly hundreds of the dead approached the line. ========================= Jun saw the power fail, as the lights clicked off, and the sounds of both scientists and soldiers scrambling to recover the now dead system filled the hallway. He snuck out of the breaker room and made his way to the main holding cells. Hopefully, he thought to himself, this will allow his friends to escape. He stopped upon hearing a low guttural groan from behind him. He turned to face the noise. ========================= Toro shot up upon seeing the locks to the cages disengage. “Power went out?” he questioned. Even Mr. Black was puzzled as he stood up and looked at the guards scrambling out of the room. “Seems our babysitters have left us, boys” he pointed out. Suddenly, the room was filled with the sound of screaming and yelling. Shinji looked on with confusion as he pushed the gate open on the cage. “Maybe we should get out of here” he suggested. Toro nodded and he motioned to Shinji to follow him. Mr. Black strode up to them and stopped Toro. People ran past him, heading for the main room door. “Wait!” Mr. Black ordered. He held up a hand as the sound of growls and guttural screeches echoed from the door opposite the group. Suddenly Jun was seen running from the door, a large group of walkers close behind him. The people freshly freed from their cages screamed and began to scatter about in the hallways. Jun was running up to meet his father when he suddenly heard a loud “HALT!” He turned to see a soldier aiming his AR15 at him. Jun looked at the walker approaching him and held up his hands. He noticed the soldier sliding his finger to the trigger, and closed his eyes waiting for the inevitable. A gunshot panged through the room as the soldier fell dead, a spurt of blood shooting out from his sternum. Jun looked up to see Ronin aiming a gun at the walker behind him, and another shot was fired, downing the walker. He then waved his hand to herd him and his small group through a small service tunnel. “This way!” Ronin yelled. He handed Toro and Jun a pistol each and the 5 of them ran through the tunnel. He pointed to a steel door marked “Main Control Room”. He opened the door and closed it behind him after the 4 had gone through it. Shinji looked at Ronin while catching his breath “Thanks. Now who the hell are you?” he asked. Ronin ignored Shinji and looked at Jun. “Is your name Jun Masumoto?” he questioned. Jun nodded, making Ronin smile. “Your girlfriend sent me to rescue you and your dad here” he looked at the other two men with caution. Jun stepped in front of Ronin and introduced them to him “This is my friend Shinji, and this is Mr. Black…resident dick” Mr. Black chuckled “How polite” he muttered with amusement. Ronin looked back to Jun. “Do they know how to use handguns?” he asked. Mr. Black stepped up and snapped his fingers. “If you have another gun handy, I could help out a lot more with getting us out of here. So yes, I know how to use them. Now…if you would” he said, wagging his fingers. Ronin rolled his eyes and handed Mr. Black a Glock 18. Toro looked at his piece: a Ruger Blackhawk. “My old piece!” he gasped. Jun put a hand on Ronin’s shoulder. “Where is Jae Eun now?” he demanded. Ronin pointed to the door behind Toro. “That door should lead to the loading dock where she and Murano are hiding” Jun perked up his ears. “Takeshi?! The hell is he doing here?” he asked. Ronin smiled “Ask him that when we meet up with him” Before they left, Shinji tugged Ronin’s suit sleeve. “Excuse me Mr. James Bond, my girlfriend Yui is somewhere in another holding cell. We need to find her, please!” he implored. Ronin handed him a knife. “She might be being held in room C5. Its 3 rooms to the left of the door. But hurry, because the infected will soon be crawling all over this place” Shinji looked at Jun and smiled with fake confidence. “I will meet you at the loading bay!” he promised. Jun nodded and ran off following Ronin, with his father and Mr. Black in tow. ------------------------------------------------------ “I can’t explain what happened with the power Dr. Mesuji!” the technician exclaimed, panic dripping from his voice. Mesuji heard him, coldly looked at the crowd of walkers filling the courtyard through the Plexiglass window. Soldiers desperately were shooting the walkers in the chest, not even slowing them down. A couple soldiers shot the walkers in their heads, dropping them instantly. “AIM FOR THE HEADS!” a soldier cried out. The soldiers then began to take pin-point accurate shots, dropping walkers left and right. The firing line was almost in a position of victory, when they were interrupted by a soldier with blood spewing from her neck ran up to them. “I’M BIT!” she yelled as she turned and noticed the herd. One walker grabbed her uniform and pulled her towards it, taking a large bite out of the other side of her neck. She collapsed, and noticing more of the dead coming towards her, she pulled the pin on her grenade. The soldiers attempted to back away, but a large explosion rocked the courtyard, sending both walker and soldier body parts flying in a shower of blood. The lineup of solider was broken, as they were knocked on their feet, with many of them killed from the explosion. Those who stood up quickly enough ran to the gate, in an attempt to escape. One soldier had his leg blown off, and was soon subjected to his face being bitten into by an infected teenage girl. The soldier then raised his handgun to his head and blew his brains out to end the suffering. Mesuji overlooked all of this with quiet neutrality. “Prepare me a helicopter, Doctor Noke. Evacuate the facility” she ordered. One of the scientists asked “Excuse me, Dr. Mesuji, but that copter that can only hold 4 people tops, and there are five of us. How are we all going to fit?” Mesuji grabbed a Beretta from the table nearby and promptly shot the scientist in the head. She turned to the 3 surviving personnel and quipped “Now there are four. Shall we?” ========================== Jae Eun and Takeshi were hiding inside a nearby storage closest, with the door cracked enough for Takeshi to see whoever entered the loading bay. Jae Eun, sitting on a paint bucket, looked up at Takeshi and asked, “Mr. Murano, what is going to happen to us?” Takeshi sighed. “We will witness the fall of society. Everyone will be forced to fight to survive. I don’t want to think about what I will have to do to keep everyone I love alive. I wish…I had died before seeing this happen, if I may be honest” he somberly replied. Jae Eun stood up. “I will do anything to protect Jun!” she exclaimed. Takeshi faced her. “Anything? You mean you would let dozens of people you don’t know die, to save Jun? You would steal food from others? You would do things you never thought you could ever have the stomach to do, just to protect him? Can you really do that, Ms. Rhee?” he asked, stone-faced. Jae Eun replied with confidence, “Yes” Takeshi nodded in acceptance. “So would I, since we are both being honest” he said gravely. The main door opened, as soldiers and scientists scrambled to get into jeeps and trucks. Jae Eun grasped Takeshi’s arm. “They are taking all the vehicles!” she hissed. Takeshi pointed to a soldier getting into a truck and attempting to turn the key. “SHIT! The truck is dead!” he exclaimed. He then hopped out and jumped into the last truck leaving the loading area. “I unhooked a wire so it wouldn’t start” Takeshi exclaimed “should be an easy 2 minute job to fix it. That my dear, is out ticket out of this hellhole” he said with a coy smile. ============================ Shinji ran past the fleeing scientists and personnel as he made it to the secondary holding area. The door had been sealed, with the hostage citizens banging on the door on the opposite side. Shinji yanked off the door control panel, and noticed a handle marked “Emergency Control”. He pulled it hard, and the door groaned open. The people flew past thanking him. Shinji noticed Yui in one of the cages with an old woman in her lap. He walked over and tugged her white overcoat. “Come on babe! We need to go!” he implored. She shook her head with tears flowing down her cheeks. “She was the only person here to treat me with kindness. She died from not having her medication, and asked me to put her down once she passed” she pulled out a knitting needle she had smuggled in. Shinji swallowed and calmly pleaded “She is gone, hun. I am sorry she is dead, but there will be more of the infected coming in here any minute” Suddenly, the old woman’s eyes fluttered open and her once brown eyes were now dull grey. A shallow groan was uttered from her throat. “I’m sorry, Miss. Thank you for everything” Yui said tearfully. She then smoothly drove the needle into her eye-socket, putting her at peace. Shinji helped Yui lower the body onto the floor, and then the two of them ran out of the holding room. ==================================== Toro, Jun, Ronin and Mr. Black arrived in the loading bay only to find it empty. “JAE EUN!” Jun called out. The closet door opened and both Jae Eun and Takeshi ran out. Jae Eun hugged Jun tightly, kissing him over and over while Takeshi and Ronin shook hands. “About time you got here, Ronin” Takeshi playfully retorted. Mr. Black looked around the loading bay to hear the screams and gunshots from the battle raging above them. “Sounds like the JSDF is losing” he said checking behind a dumpster. Suddenly, he was struck across the neck with a pistol butt, and he collapsed onto the floor. Major Toji Namashita called out “Toro! Old friend! Trying to leave without me?” he said with a mockingly hurt tone. Toro turned to face him, while Ronin, Takeshi and Jae Eun raised their guns at the Major. “You better lose your weapons if you are smart, otherwise this Korean dog gets shot. Drop them” he growled. Jun had his gun behind his back, and dropped his knife. The others dropped their guns. Toji smiled viciously. “You see, Toro, I was planning on killing all of you. But that Korean there…she would make this world a lot easier for me. You know what I mean?” he said eyeing Jae Eun with lust. Jae Eun hid behind Jun. “Now come on sweetie, I won’t hurt you. You will learn to like it over time” Toji said aiming his gun at Jun. Toro shot a look at Toji “You leave her out of this!” he snarled. Toji laughed and aimed the gun at him instead. “You first then. Afterwards, I will take her right here” he said with confidence. “No. You won’t” Jun said defiantly. Toji cocked his head. “Say that again? I thought I heard this cockroach say something” he said cynically. Jun pulled out his hidden handgun and aimed at the Major. “Drop your gun kid, before you get hurt” Toji coolly commanded. Jun refused. “You think this is a game, don’t you? The world ending and you are trying to stop me of all things? You are a stupid piece of shit aren’t you?!” he said menacingly. His face lightened. “You know kid, you have guts I will give you that. So maybe instead of shooting you I will wring the life out of your neck. But first…your father must pay for his sins” he said swinging his arm to shoot Toro. A thunderous bang rang through the loading bay. Toro stared with shock at Toji, with the latter lurching forward, blood streaming from his neck. Jun’s arm was extended, smoking seeping out of the barrel of the gun he held in his hand. Toji grinned with blood pouring out of his mouth. “You did it you little bastard” he gurgled “you became a man at last”. He raised his gun to try and shoot Jae Eun instead, but Jun snapped his gun up and shot Toji squarely in the head, sending a mist of blood shooting into the air. Mr. Black woke up and rubbed his neck, looking at the now dead body of Major Namashita. “You did this, kid?” he asked Jun. Jun slowly nodded, numb from the shot. Toro and Takeshi both grabbed him by the shoulder. “You did good, son” Toro said. Takeshi nodded in agreement. Jae Eun clung to Jun and they began to climb into the truck while Takeshi rewired it. =============================== Shinji and Yui, a hallway away from the loading dock, heard a noise. A gunshot. Yui clung to Shinji. “Was that bad or good?” she asked. Shinji shrugged. As they were heading out of the hallway, Yui heard soft sobbing. She pointed to a door, and then opened it. A nurse in bloodied clothing was softly crying. Shinji held out a hand. “Come on!” he urged. The nurse shook her head. “We are all going to die” she moaned. Yui wiped a tear away and smiled warmly “You can come with us! We will protect you, I promise.” she said looking at Shinji. Shinji nodded and held out his hand again. She took it. “What’s your name?” Yui asked as the hurried down the hallway. The nurse answered “Akiko Nakayumi”. The three of them made it into the loading dock to see Takeshi start the truck. Jun saw the three of them and yelled “Shinji! Come on!” Shinji and Yui climbed in, with Akiko hesitating. “I don’t belong with you” she said, her voice shaking. Jae Eun replied “Now you do. Come on!” prompting Akiko to climb in, while Shinji closed the back hatch afterwards. The truck drove through the courtyard, with the walkers having killed all the soldiers and scientists who had stayed. They made it to the gate, only to find it locked. “DAMMIT!” Toro fumed “the soldiers must have locked the gate to prevent the dead from escaping” Ronin hopped out and stabbed a walker blocking the path to the main gate control. “There is emergency power! We need both stations to input different IDs. Mr. Masumoto, your ID should still work!” Toro hopped out of the truck, and he and Ronin ran into the control shacks. Jun, Mr. Black, Shinji, Yui, and Takeshi stood around the truck as the walkers began to approach them. Jun raised his knife. “Don’t let them bite you!” he said as he plunged the knife into the eye of an incoming walker. Mr. Black raised his knife he had snuck into the compound and shoved it into the forehead of another walker. Every member then began to tackle a walker. Shinji, using a military trench shovel from a dead soldier, slamming it into the skull of a nearby infected. Yui stabbed one walker with her sewing needle, and then lost it. She panicked until Takeshi shot the walker about to grab her with his rifle. He handed her a small pistol and they both shot a walker approaching them. Jun shot another one. And another. He could feel himself growing more and more numb with each kill. Takeshi felt the same way, as he smashed the skull of one walker with the butt end of his rifle. Akiko and Jae Eun hopped out, armed with bayonets they found in a box in the back of the truck and each stabbed a walker. Jae Eun recoiled with the blood soaking her hands. Suddenly, she felt a rush of energy, and plunged the bayonet into another skull. Akiko felt the bravery surge through her, and she pulled a walker off Mr. Black and slid the bayonet into the back part of its skull. Mr. Black smiled after watching the walker fall to the ground. “Well hello there” he said with a wink. She ignored him. Toro finished his opening procedure, and noticed Ronin cursing and banging on the window. He ran over and entered the shack. “What’s wrong?” he asked hurriedly. Ronin pointed to the main switch. “It’s a dead man’s switch. Someone would need to hold this up while pressing the main access button. Mesuji must have activated this to prevent prisoners from leaving!” he explained in a full panic. “We are going have to have someone stay here to keep the gate open while the truck drives through…” Toro nodded gravely. “Get Jun in here” he asked. Ronin ran over and grabbed Jun by the shoulder. “Go talk to your father! I will cover you” he said. Jun ran over to the shack as Ronin shot a walker. Jun saw his father standing over the controls quietly. “I am going to stay behind, Jun” Toro softly said. Jun frowned in confusion. “But why? The gates should just open up” “Jun, Dr. Mesuji activated a command which locks down the facility. Someone will have to stay behind to keep the gate open. That’s going to be me” Jun shook his head. “No! I will keep it open! Then I will run out and through the-” “JUN! You won’t have enough time to leave the shack and exit before it closes. No, you are going to leave this place!” Toro said tearfully. “I ruined my time with you. I should have been there to see you grow up. To see you fall in love. You have to promise me this Jun: you will keep those people and our family alive. Do you understand?” Jun dropped his head, tears dripping from his cheeks. Toro handed Jun three items: his wedding band, a trench knife and his revolver. “The ring goes to your mother. The knife to Hideki and the gun is yours. You are their leader now, Jun. You need to be the man they can follow” Toro said hugging his son. Ronin shouted to Jun from the truck “That’s the last of them from here, but there are more coming from the facility!” As Jun turned to leave Toro stopped him, his face streaming tears. “I am so proud you son. I love you so much” Jun choked “I love you too dad” Jun ran to the truck, while the rest of the group climbed in. Takeshi pulled the truck up to the gate and waved at Toro gravely. “Protect my son Murano” Toro asked of the old policeman. Takeshi nodded. “I will, my old friend” Toro then activated the switch, and the truck drove through. Toro placed his hand against the shack window. He turned to see a herd of walkers shambling towards him. He reached down to find a block of C4 explosives on the ground next to a dead soldier. He picked it up and pulled out a grenade. The walkers circled him as he placed the C4 against his chest and pulled the pin of the grenade. A walker snarled in his face. “Goodbye my son” he said to himself. Instantly memories of Jun’s birth flashed before his eyes, with his wife holding the infant. He touched the fat babies’ cheek and smiled. “What shall we name him Toro?” Jun’s mother asked. “How about Jun, after your father?” Toro playfully asked. His wife nodded. Before darkness enveloped him, he heard “I love you too, dad”. The grenade exploded just as a walker began to sink its teeth into Toro’s shoulder. The explosion consumed the nearby walkers, and took out the large arch hanging over the gate. The gate was now buried, trapping the walkers in the ruined facility. ====================== The truck drove through the streets, as the city lights clicked off, entire city blocks going dark. It was morning, as the rioters were slowly being killed by the dead or from looting. The group arrived at the block where Takeshi lived. The old man walked in his house without a word and after a few minutes, he and his wife stepped out with a large crate. Takeshi loaded the crate into the truck, as his wife, Misaki, climbed into the truck. Jun took a look at his apartment, now on fire. He had no valuables he treasured there, but he was still in total shock. He could not get his father’s face out of his mind, or his parting words. The dead soon began to swarm the truck, but the truck tore out of there, leaving the dead to shamble aimlessly around the ruined city block. ================================ Jun wasn’t sure how long he had been in the truck. But eventually they arrived at the vacation house. It was far away from the major cities, thus they only encountered a handful of the dead on their way. They parked, and Jun got out. His head swirled with emotions. A boy, armed with a homemade pike, stepped out of the house. He was tall, but his height was only exaggerated by his long neck, which he hid with a red scarf. A woman armed with a snub nosed revolver stepped out. They were Hideki and Haruna Masumoto, Jun’s younger brother and mother respectively. Haruna embraced Jun, as Jae Eun tearfully stood next to him, with the rest of the group standing to the side. Even Mr. Black was somber. “I am so happy to see you alive!!” his mother cried. She then looked around. “Toro? Where is your father?” she asked. Jun looked up, his lips quivering and tears pouring down, his face red with grief. Hideki frowned and began to sob. “Dad?” he asked mournfully. Jun shook his head and then fully broke down, falling on his knees. Jae Eun held him close to her, and she broke down too, kissing him on the forehead. Takeshi and his wife held each other’s hands. Shinji and Yui looked down mournfully. Ronin turned away, and saw the view from where they were at: the city below them was on fire, with black smoke pouring from the taller buildings. Mr. Black stood guard of the gate surrounding the vacation house. Ronin walked up to him. “I guess this is the new world, huh?” He asked. Mr. Black nodded “A darker one at that” he murmured. Jun wept for what seemed like hours, as his brother and mother sobbed. Jun stopped crying long enough to look at the loving face of Jae Eun. “Now what do we do?” she asked him, hugging his arm. Jun replied, overlooking the smoke in the far off distance “We survive” ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

New Cast: Airman Joji Yushaka - Kento Yamazaki Robber leader –Ken Hirai
Summary: Jun and his group begin to adapt to the new world while outside threats begin to gather.
Episode 201: Fire & Brimstone
The silence enveloped Jun. The world around him blurred, & was a torrid mess, with the noises around him garbled, almost as if he was underwater. The group was outside the Masumoto vacation house, watching the city below the mountain burn. The bombing had begun mere hours after they had arrived at the vacation house, with the power grid failing during their arrival. Military bombers were buzzing about, dropping thick plumes of napalm onto the streets below and onto the dead and living alike. Jae Eun Rhee, Jun’s girlfriend, grasped his shirt sleeve and nuzzled her face against his shoulder. “Those poor people” she murmured. Jun stoically nodded. Ronin stood beside Jun and sipped on a cup of coffee. “Poor bastards are being murdered by their own government” he said somberly. Akiko pulled out her access badge as well as her cell phone. She threw both of them onto the ground, knowing she would never be able to use either again.
Meanwhile, Takeshi and Jun’s mother Haruna sat at the kitchen table. Takeshi placed his hand over Haruna’s and said “We only need to stay here for a couple of days”. Haruna fiddled with a spoon, replying “And where will we go? Everywhere is a sea of fire and brimstone. The JSDF are napalming every major city. There is nowhere else to go, Takeshi”. The vacation house was seated atop a mountain, with the stone walls protecting against unwanted visitors. Mr. Black and Shinji Akai watched the carnage from the stone wall. Shinji gaped at the fire, while Mr. Black shot down a swig of beer. “Hell of a thing, huh?” Mr. Black exclaimed. Shinji chomped down on a fried rice ball stuffed with tuna. “I’m going to get some sleep” he declared, his mouth full of food. Mr. Black playfully saluted him and went back to watching the bombardment. ===================== Jun and Jae Eun slept fitfully that night. Jun was not used to having another person sleep in his bed, let along someone like her. He was more distracted by the last image of his father. Jae Eun dreamt about monsters and death, tossing and turning under the sheets. Jun shook her awake. She rolled over and placed a hand on his bare chest. “I wish this was a dream” she sleepily muttered. Jun kissed her on her forehead, and wrapped her arms around her. He could feel her melt into his arms. ===================== Mr. Black pulled out a cigarette he had stuffed in his pocket. He had 3 more left. “Dammit” he muttered “going to have to find more somewhere else” he lit the cigarette when suddenly he heard a low rumbling. He looked up to see a jet twisting and turning in the air as it hurtled towards the ground. His eyes widened as the jet swooped over the house and into the woods behind the house. A loud explosion thundered through the night air, with the flame plume shooting up into the darkness. --------------------------------------------- Everyone in the house was shook up by the explosion. Takeshi ran over the chest he had carried from his apartment. He opened it to reveal several rifles, pistols, a few shotguns and a single grenade. He grabbed an MP5 handed a still sleep Shinji, Ronin, Akiko and Jun a rifle. Mr. Black stormed in the house. “I saw it crash! It’s a military jet!” he exclaimed. Takeshi without a word handed him a suppressed 1911 and went outside. The armed members went out with him. The woods stretched for a mile and a half, with a large rocky peak jutting up in the middle. Jun would often play in these woods, but now they were deathly silent, save for crickets. The smell of burning materials filled their nostrils as they approached the crash. Ronin picked up a burnt bag, and found a small revolver. “Military issue” he pointed out. Jun heard a low groaning from behind a downed tree. He and Ronin walked over to the noise to find the pilot of the jet. His legs were wholly burnt, with his face shredded from the impact. He looked over at Jun and groaned, “Please just kill me…the pain…” Jun looked at Ronin, who handed him a small knife. “It’s the kindest thing to do, kid” he said. Jun took the knife and placed the tip against the pilot’s temple. He hesitated. He then heard a faint “its okay son. I want this…” from the pilot. Jun then closed his eyes as he shoved the knife into the pilot’s head, the fain crack of bone being pierced breaking the silence. Ronin nodded in approval. “You did good Jun” Jun wiped the blade off and cricked his neck “It’s what has to be done now” he noted grimly. =================================== Jae Eun made her way into the dining room and sat down in a chair. Several handgun were strewn about, all of which she glanced over. Yui & Haruna sat with her. Haruna smiled warmly and asked “You are with Jun, right?” Jae Eun smiled and nodded “He’s a wonderful man Mrs. Masumoto. We met in college. He saved me” she said, smiling at the thought of Jun. Yui giggled. “You are so in love, aren’t you?” she teased. Jae Eun playfully frowned at her. She then picked up a nearby Glock 18. “Never would have imagined I would be using these just to survive” she said. Haruna stoically picked up her revolver she had usually stuffed in her waist band. “My husband, Toro, gave this to me. Told me there might be a time we would need to use it…I always figured it would be a robber, or a murderer. Not the dead coming back” she examined it, and placed in the table. Yui was about to pick up one of the nearby Browning High Powered pistols, when Hideki came down the steps. He rubbed his eyes and wrapped the red scarf around his neck. He sat down and gawked at the guns. “This looks like a police movie!” he gasped. Haruna took a nearby white table cloth and spread it over the guns. ===================================== “You killed him?” Shinji asked with shock in his eyes. Ronin pointed to the wrecked jet. “Do you really think he would have made it out without a scratch? He was DYING kid. Jun did the right thing” Jun examined the dog tags he found in the pilot’s pocket: Airman Joji Yushaka. He stuffed them in his pants pocket and cleared his throat. “I did it. He’s dead because I put him down. It’s that simple” Akiko looked behind her to hear a noise. “Sounds like people yelling” she said. Mr. Black had vanished without a trace. Jun, Ronin, Shinji and Akiko then heard a couple of gunshots coming from the vacation house. They bolted towards the shots. ========================================= Haruna had placed the final pistol in the chest by the kitchen when she heard a knocking at the door. She opened the peephole slot to view whoever it was on the other end. She saw 4 large men, 3 of which were armed with hunting rifles, and the fourth with a military Berretta. The one with the gun knocked again. “Excuse me? Is anyone home?” he asked in a very polite tone. Haruna deepened her voice “Um, no, just me. What do you want?” The man replied “We were wondering if you could point us to the direction towards the bunkers around here? We will be very appreciative” he said, feigning gratefulness. Haruna was about to say no, when one man bellowed “OPEN THE GODDAMN DOOR!” he and the other 2 rifle toting men raised their rifles. “YOU OPEN THE DOOR, OR WE WILL KILL EVERY ONE OF YOU PEOPLE!!” Haruna was about to scream when she heard a deep voice from the woods “You better leave” Mr. Black had heard the commotion, and snuck his way to the vacation house to investigate. He stepped out of the woods, and aimed his 1911, fitted with a silencer he stole from Takeshi’s stash. One of the men sneered “And you are? Come on shit cake, don’t be stupid” Mr. Black smiled with pure confidence. “I think you just made that mistake, boys. Now just leave and we don’t have to get violent. The leader, armed with the pistol stepped forward. “You are a brave one. I admire that. But…you are also foolish. You see, there are 4 of us, and 1 of you. See the problem?” Mr. Black shrugged smugly. “Yeah, true. But you yourself forgot one thing: you let the strays in” he said. Before the leader could reply one of the men yelled out in agony. A walker had followed them and snuck up to the man nearest the gate. It grabbed him and sunk his teeth in the man’s neck. Mr. Black took the opportunity to aim and in one smooth motion shot a man in the head. The leader turned to face Mr. Black, only to get his eye blown out, along with most of his brain. The wounded man proceeded to beat the walker’s head in with the butt of his rifle, and then scooted behind the gate. The other surviving man ducked behind a stone pillar. Jae Eun had picked up and aimed her PPK from a window, and fired. The man who had been bit was struck in the temple, the bullet striking the stone gate behind him. Mr. Black chambered a round in his gun, and then went to take out the last man. He was struck in the chest with the butt of the surviving man’s gun, landing with a thud on the ground. His gun was kicked away from him, and the barrel of the rifle lowered to his head. A click rang thru the air. =========================== Jun and Shinji were the first to arrive at the vacation house. Ronin and akiko soon followed. Jun saw Mr. Black holding a man at gunpoint, his face a broad smile. “What took you guys so long?” he asked. He pressed the gun close to the man’s head, as if he were about to fire. Jun waved his hand “Stop! We don’t just murder people, no matter the situation” Ronin stepped close to the man. “What were you doing here anyways?” he asked, his question almost drowned out by the crickets. The man spat at Ronin and angrily growled “None of your business” Shinji looked at the other dead bodies. “They were going to try and rob us, weren’t they?” he asked. Mr. Black nodded. The man smiled and chuckled “World’s gone to shit and you are all teary eyed about morality? I would have killed all of the guys and had a field day with the girls. How about that?” Ronin stepped up and cocked his head. “So if we let you go, you will never leave us alone, will you?” he asked. The man outright laughed. Ronin grunted “Guess not”. He then drew a long knife and stabbed him in the eye socket, burying it up to the hilt. Jun yelped “NO!” as the man fell backwards. Ronin looked up to Jun and murmured “You said it yourself…we have to do that now…” he then walked into the vacation house without a word. ======================================== The next morning Jun awoke to Jae Eun shaking him. He was not used to her sleeping with him, but she hadn’t slept that night. She crawled on top of him and sighed. “I killed that man last night, Jun. I don’t like how I feel” Jun brushed her hair away from her face. “What do you feel exactly?” he asked. Jae Eun gently laid her head on his chest. “Nothing. That’s just it…I don’t feel ANYTHING. It’s like everything is on mute” Jun replied, “I feel the same way. I have killed 2 people in a 3 day period…and I don’t feel regret. If you asked me a week ago if I could stomach killing people, I would say of course not. But now…” he trailed off. Jae Eun cupped her hand around Jun’s face and sighed. “You aren’t a bad man. Not yet anyways” she assured him. Jun gently rubbed her hand with his thumb. “I hope you are right…” he muttered. =============================== Ronin and Takeshi examined the guns and other items the 4 men had on a small table in the garage. Mr. Black picked up a hunting rifle and racked a shot. “Must have been scavengers” he said. Ronin leaned forward, both of his hand on the table. “Who or what are you? You took those people out with little or no difficulty. Only a military person or someone with that amount of experience would be able to fight like you did” he demanded. Takeshi walked behind Mr. Black, his eyes never leaving him. “I would suggest you answer his question” he said with mild menace in his voice. Mr. Black grinned. “I am a simple person trying to live in this new world, like all of you” he replied coolly. Ronin balled a fist and threw a punch, only to have the blow blocked. Mr. Black deflected the blow with his left wrist, and then attempted to chop Ronin in the throat. Ronin instead spun behind Mr. Black and grabbed his arm, wrenching it. In one smooth move he then threw the Korean onto the floor. Takeshi slammed a rifle butt onto the floorboards, rattling them loudly. “ENOUGH!” he boomed. The two younger men then stood to attention, glaring at each other. “Ronin lay off the violence. Mr. Black, tell us who you are RIGHT NOW, or you’re on your own. Got it?” Takeshi thundered. Mr. Black brushed off his denim jacket. “Fine” he huffed “I am not a South Korean Military member. I was a South Korean governmental spy sent to examine how bad the disease had spread. Seoul was falling. Pusan was already overrun with the dead. Hell, even out northern brothers were overrun, with Pyongyang a virtual graveyard. We knew that Japan would be the last country to fall, so we wanted to find a cure. Dr. Mesuji’s supposed cure was tempting, thus I was sent to steal the serum. Turns out, she has the JSDF under her thumb. So I ended up in that hellhole of a complex” Ronin stared at Mr. Black with confusion. “What do you mean she had the JSDF under her thumb? The prime minister, health minister and everyone involved would have never supported her taking total control of the JSDF” Mr. Black chuckled softly. “They’re all dead. The PM, the Health Minister, the high ranking generals, they are all dead. Why do you think she never contacted the Yakuza families? She knew they would never condone mass experimental murder” he asked, staring at Ronin. Ronin angrily shook his head. “You are full of shit” he growled. Mr. Black shrugged. “Says the man with the name meaning master-less samurai. I think maybe you should reflect on your own nature rather than mine” he said with an accusing tone. “What’s with you, huh? Hiding from some demon or something? Or are you just a coward?” Takeshi stepped in between them. “Look. It doesn’t matter what Ronin’s real name is. What matters is we are on our own. These…walkers are now our biggest threat. As soon as we start to fight each other, we forget what we will become. We will either become dead on the outside…or dead on the inside” Ronin begrudgingly nodded. Mr. Black ran a hand thru his hair. “I suppose I should tell you my real name then, since we are about to become cozier with each other: Sung-min Cho. I’ll tell the others in the morning” Takeshi stood and began to leave the garage. “I need to attend to my wife” he said solemnly. After he left Ronin turned to Sung-min. “Why the name Mr. Black?” he asked. Sung-min replied with a wink. “You never know who you can trust…I still don’t…master-less samurai” =========================== That morning the group sat around the large dinner table, used in the past to entertain a large number of guests. Now, Jun, instead of his father, sat at the head of the table. “We need to decide what we are going to do now. We thought this place was safe, but, with the jet crash and our 4 unwanted visitors, it’s clear this isn’t as safe as I had hoped…as my father had hoped” Jun announced. “We can reinforce this place, but soon or later we will have to run. Sooner or later we will have to find someplace somewhere that can keep us safe” Yui piped up, “I don’t mean to sound rude, but who died and made you our leader, huh?” Ronin shot her a look and snapped “His father who died to save your cute ass, that’s who!” Jun waved a hand down to Ronin. Haruna watched her son with mild pride. She had never thought he would be a true leader, as he, even as a child always buried his nose in books and video games. He was more like his father than he liked to admit. Jun continued “I am not trying to boss you all around. I think as a group we can survive this next world with ease, but ONLY if we work as a team. Everyone one of us is capable of fighting off the dead, but as a unit, we can own this world. We can stop surviving and start anew…” he trailed off to look at Jae Eun, who smiled at him. Takeshi stood. “I understand what you are saying Jun. I really do, but how are we going to transport my wife?” he inquired. Shinji cocked his head. “What’s wrong with her, Mr. Murano?” Takeshi adjusted his collar with a nervous twitch. “I decided to keep this quiet from everyone, due to the severity of the issue. But my wife, Misaki…her cancer came back a week ago. And now it’s at stage 3. She won’t make it another week without any existing treatment…” his face twitched as tears began to well up in his eyes. “She is going to die in a few days” he stuttered. Akiko and Jae Eun stood to comfort Takeshi, while Jun cricked his neck. “We will stay until…until she…” he began. Takeshi wiped a tear from his cheek and sniffed. “Thank you, Jun” Takeshi then went to the next room to attend to his wife, while the others sat down. Shinji pondered, “Jun, what if someone wants this place like those 4 raiders?” Jun smirked and looked at his mother and replied with absolute confidence, “Let them try” Haruna looked at Jae Eun with mild concern as to what the future would hold. She hoped Jun was able to handle whatever was thrown at him. ======================= Meanwhile, at the foot of the mountain, walkers, having spent the night killing & feasting on anyone they came across, had heard the noise from the previous night that had echoed throughout the now charred city. They then slowly shambled up the mountain path towards the top of the mountain. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: A search for food and supplies leads the group into a dark new world.

New cast: Hideki Masumoto – Hiroya Shimizu Yui Kinoshita – Aoi Morikawa Summary: A search for food and supplies leads the group into a dark new world. Episode 202 – Burnt
Takeshi sat next to his supine wife, his hands clasped around his wife’s, as tears rolled down his stubble covered cheeks. “I failed you…I don’t think I can live in this new world without you guiding me…I don’t want to” he sobbed softly. Misaki’s eyes fluttered open. “Of course” she coughed “without me, you would not be able to grow a cucumber worth a damn” Takeshi smiled sadly. “I don’t know if we can move you, my love. Your condition is getting more severe” he explained. Misaki coughed violently, spewing blood onto her hand. “Damn” she grunted. Takeshi immediately handed her a glass of water and a tissue. Misaki smiled lovingly at her husband. “You are the best man any woman could ask for Takeshi…” she said, sighing heavily. Takeshi leaned over and kissed her on her forehead, a tear dropping onto her. She murmured, “You got me wet”. They then both shared a giggle. =========================== “So what are we going to do about food, huh?” Shinji asked Jun. Ronin checked the cupboards for additional food. There were a dozen or so cans, some packaged goods, a bag of potato chips, a bag of rice, some jars of grains, and a few junk food packets. “This is it?” Ronin asked Haruna. She nodded. “We only had enough time to grab the food we could carry. I didn’t think to stop to the store during the looting and rioting” she with a cynical undertone. Ronin cricked his neck and looked to Jun. “If we are going to stay here, Jun, we will need more food. We have to make a trip into the nearest town” Jun nodded. “I will take Mr. Black with me so that you and Shinji can protect the others, Ronin. Shouldn’t be more than a few hours” he looked at his mother who shook her head fervently. “Jun there is hundreds of infected now filling the cities. There must be another way to do this” she pleaded. Akiko perked up. “Wait!” she said. She pulled out a small pamphlet and placed it on the table. It showed a local district map with a spot marked, “JSDF SAFE ZONE” Jun and Ronin looked at her with raised eyebrows. “This is your plan? Raiding a JSDF safe zone?” Ronin asked. Akiko nodded. “Last time I checked, it had been evacuated, so it should be empty” she blurted out. Jun looked at Jae Eun. “I think…it’s worth a shot. I need 2 people to come with me” Mr. Black raised his hand. “I will go” he said. Another hand shot up. It was Yui. “I can help!” she said. Shinji grabbed her shoulders and spun her around. “Are you crazy?” he asked. She shook her head. “I want to help out! Let me do something to help you all out!” she demanded. Shinji sighed and let her go. Jun took an AR-15, and his father’s revolver. Mr. Black took an MP5 and his silenced 1911. And Yui grabbed her glock 17 and a knife. The three climbed into the Masumoto families grey SUV and drove out to the safe zone below. Storm clouds rumbled in the distance, as Shinji and Jae Eun clung to the gate, watching them leave. =========================== The SUV drove past a burnt out husk of a house, a giant spray painted “死亡”, meaning death on the main wall, with what appeared to be a dead child lying on the pavement. More houses spray painted with the death kanjis lined the empty street. Eventually, they came across a large chain link fence, standing easily 15 feet tall. A sign read “MILITARY PERSONNAL ONLY. THIS IS A SAFE ZONE” Jun noticed the gate was ajar and slightly nudged it with the bumper of the SUV. It slowly creaked open. They closed the gate behind them, seeing only a few walkers shambling towards them. “It’s only a few of them. We should be okay” Mr. Black pointed out. They each split up to check a house. Jun searched the first house, only to find a discarded rifle, a few cans of food, and a tube of toothpaste. He grabbed a trash bag from under the kitchen sink to stuff them in. After filling the bag, he saw a portrait of a young couple, probably in their early 30s on a nearby table. A blood spray was across the glass, sobering up Jun enough for him to drop the portrait. Mr. Black’s house check was more successful, with him finding a police uniform, a few handguns, several cans and bags of food, and a pair of long range radios. He checked the battery to find they were still functioning. He was about to leave when he found a pack of cigarettes on the table. His eyes lit up. “My lucky day” he said, sniffing the pack with glee. Yui’s house search began with a barricaded door, which she pushed open. The living room was burnt out, due to a smashed oil lamp. She curled her nose from the smell emanating from one of the rooms. Her curiosity led to the smell, a closet with flies swarming the outside. She opened the door, only to have 2 small bodies tumble out. They were the bodies of what appeared to be two children, burnt and charred from the fire. One child awoke and snarled at her, its mouth tearing up, due to it being melted from the fire. Yui gasped and ran out of the house in panic. She ran to the SUV and vomited. After wiping her mouth she looked around at the destruction and hollowness. She sat on the road, and burst into tears. A few minutes later, Jun and Mr. Black arrived at the SUV, their bags filled with supplies. Jun stooped down and wiped a tear from her cheek. “What’s wrong?” he asked softly. Yui sniffed hard and flung her arms out wide. “THIS!” she nearly yelled. “This world is not for us to live in! Everything we knew is dead and gone! No more families! No more happiness! NO MORE LIFE FOR ANY OF US! We are all going to die…” she stood up. “We are going to live off the scraps of society like hungry dogs, and become animals. I don’t want to be in that world…” she then turned and walked off towards the gate. A walker was banging on the main gate, snarling and snapping its teeth. She looked at the walker and smiled. Jun and Mr. Black ran up to her. “What are you doing?!” Jun shouted. Mr. Black gasped, “Oh no, please don’t!” Yui opened the gate and flung her arms. She turned to Jun with a sad smile. “Tell Shinji I said goodbye” she implored Jun. The walker snarled and grabbed Yui, and then sunk its teeth into her neck, tearing out a huge chunk of bloody flesh. Yui screamed and attracted another walker towards her, which then proceeded to sink its teeth into her arm. Jun pulled out his pistol and shot the first walker in the head, dropping it. The second dropped its attention from Yui and growled at Jun. A silenced shot pang through the air, and the second walker fell dead on the pavement. Jun scooped up the dying Yui and threw her into the back seat of the SUV. More dead surrounded the fencing, as they made their way towards the gate. Mr. Black jumped into the SUV, and pulled out a hand grenade. “If they make to the house..!” he started. Jun screamed “THROW IT!” The pin was yanked from the grenade and it was thrown behind the SUV. A large explosion rocked the SUV as they sped off back to the vacation house. The walkers surrounded the explosion, too occupied with the noise to notice them leaving. ================================= Back at the vacation house, Jae Eun and Shinji sat on the house stoop, waiting for them to return. Jae Eun stared at her feet. “I killed that man last night, Shinji” she said with zero emotion. Shinji looked at her with confusion. “You did...but that Korean killed most of them” he fumbled. Jae Eun nodded soberly. “I took a man’s life…I KILLED him. I would have never done that a week ago. But now, it doesn’t seem that far-fetched. I also don’t regret it…” Shinji looked at her with quiet horror. He collected himself. “Okay, look. You shot him in self defense. It was called for, they were going to rob and kill us all. So…you did the right thing. I don’t know if I could have made the same call. I would like to think I could, but there is something in me preventing me from going that far. Like…if I cross that line can I ever come back? Can I still be human?” Jae Eun looked at him with a faint smile. “Yui is lucky to be with you, Shinji. She will be safe with you around her, I am sure” she assured. Shinji smiled and awkwardly nodded with confidence. “Yeah! She and I will live through this nightmare! Hell, maybe even have a kid or two once things calm down” he assured himself. Jae Eun looked back toward the vacation house perimeter gate. “Any minute now and they will be back” she said to both herself and Shinji. She hoped she was right. ======================= The SUV roared down the road, leaves and pebbles spewing out from under the tires. “Can this thing go any faster?!” Jun yelled. Mr. Black suddenly shouted “OH SHIT!” and braked hard. Jun looked at what had caused the braking. The road they were on branched off into two paths, one leading to the highway, the other to the road leading to the vacation house. And a huge stream of two to three hundred walkers were heading up the road towards the house. Jun’s eyes widened. “Oh no oh no oh no oh no!” he growled to himself and clenched his fist. Yui’s eyes fluttered open. “I’m sorry, Jun…I was so stupid” she whispered. Jun brushed the hair from her face. “No don’t say that! You will get patched up and be taken care by Shinji in no time!” he assured her, attempting to hold back the tears welling in his eyes. The corners of Yui’s mouth curled into a small smile. “Please take care of Shinji in this new world…as if he was your brother. Please…promise me you will” she begged. Jun nodded, the tears now freely flowing. “He is like my brother…and I promise I will protect him” he promised. Yui gasped for air. “You are their leader now…you can save them….you…” she then let go of his hand, and her final breath shuddered out of her mouth. Jun gulped hard and looked towards the small herd. “What do we do now?” Mr. Black asked, attempting to keep his voice even. Jun noticed a small shack next to the road. It was marked, “WINTER ROAD VEHICLE STORAGE” Jun pointed to the shack. “You thinking what I am thinking might be in there?!” he asked. Mr. Black smiled and nodded. “Worth a damn shot” he said. ==================================== Takeshi sat down at the kitchen table with a dark cloud over his head. Haruna sat next to him. “What kind of cancer is she sick with, Takeshi?” Takeshi sighed. “Lung. She smoked before I met her, 30 years ago. She promised me she would quit, and she did, but those years of smoking…took their toll. She went to the doctor’s 2 years before this happened, and I thought she was clean. Then, a week before this happened, her mandatory screening came back positive. She was supposed to be in chemo today actually” he explained. Haruna bit her lip as if deep in thought. “How much longer does she have?” Takeshi shook his head. “Maybe…2…3 days. 4 maximum. I already spoke to her about putting her down after she passes…I will be the one to do it” he darkly exclaimed. Haruna stood and looked at Shinji and Jae Eun talking. “Things are going to get a lot worse from here on out, Takeshi. I can feel it” Takeshi also stood and went to check on his wife again, after hearing her cough. ============================== Mr. Black flung open the shack’s doors to reveal a large snowplow, painted blue with yellow stripes. Jun found in the shack’s corner a jug of gasoline, still full. Jun smiled at Mr. Black and emptied the jug’s contents into the snowplow. Mr. Black checked the dash and found the key taped to the back of the rear-view mirror. “How nice of them” he muttered. Jun hopped into the SUV, while Mr. Black started the snowplow. A sputter followed by a roar signaled the machine’s awakening. Jun shouted to Mr. Black, “CLEAR THEM OUT!” ================================ Jae Eun was the first too see it. A walker, dressed in a police uniform shambled up to the gate, snarling and growling. Shinji stood and approached it, his knife drawn. Jae Eun followed behind him. “Where did it come from?” she asked. Shinji raised the dagger, making it level with the walker’s head. “Dunno. Might have known we would have some stragglers” he replied. He then thrust the blade into the walker’s eye-socket, the walker suddenly freezing and collapsing onto the ground. The knife was still stuck in its eye as the body landed with a sloppy thump on the gravel road. “Dammit! Hold on I need to get my knife back” Shinji declared. Jae Eun stopped him. “It’s not safe out there! There might be more!” Shinji grinned, “Hence why you will back me up” Jae Eun rolled her eyes and the two opened the gate. Shinji pulled the knife out, and searched the body. “Hey! A pistol and ammo!” he said with excitement. Jae Eun waved frantically and shouted “Good! Now get back before one grabs you!” Shinji turned to go back, but heard a low guttural noise. He looked behind him. A small herd of possibly 75 walkers were quickly shambling towards him. Shinji’s face turned pale white, and he ran back to the gate as fast as possible. He slid in, wheezing and coughing for the panic. Jae Eun slammed the gates closed and engaged the locking mechanism. The walkers pressed against the gate with whatever strength their lifeless bodies could muster. The gate, which was electronically locked & powered from a generator behind the nearby garden shed, soon began to buckle, with the two brass doors pressing inwards. Jae Eun and Shinji panicked and ran into the house. Shinji screamed, “WALKERS!”, and within seconds Takeshi, Ronin and Akiko ran into the living room, snatching a melee weapon from the table. Ronin, Takeshi and Shinji formed a triangle, with Jae Eun and Akiko in the back, their weapons raised and ready. Haruna and Hideki stood at the window. Hideki grabbed a knife and prepared to join them, only to get pulled inside by his mother. “Mom let me help them!” he begged. Haruna shook her head and replied, “And if they get in here? I need you to help me in here!” Hideki begrudgingly dropped the knife. Ronin stepped forward and stabbed one walker in the head, dropping it. Shinji, using a crowbar smashed another on the top of its skull, sending bone and brain matter splattering out. Jae Eun’s machete sliced the top off of one walker, but quickly became stuck in the face of another. The walker still reached for he, but was stabbed in the temple with a crude spear. She looked to see Takeshi yank the spear from the dead walker. He looked at her and nodded, as she pulled the machete out of the dead walker’s face. Akiko, armed with a military tonto jammed the sharp blade into one walker’s eye, dropping it at her feet. Like an oiled machine, each one dropped one walker. Then another. And another. Ronin’s suit, which had previously been immaculate, was covered in blood and brain matter. Shinji then heard the low rumbling of a vehicle. He and Ronin ran to the gate, each dropping a straggler on their way. The road below them was filled with even more of the dead, all making a bee line towards the vacation house. Suddenly, they saw a fountain of blood and body parts coming behind the herd. A large vehicle was hurtling towards them, a snowplow, and the walkers were being flung and pushed in every other direction. Ronin smiled widely and patted Shinji on the back. “Looks like we are clear!” he said with rare excitement. Shinji laughed with joy as well. One final walker survived the plowing and clawed towards the two. A suppressed gunshot rang out, and the walker fell dead. Mr. Black stepped out. “Missed one” Shinji pointed out. Mr. Black’s face was stern, his eyes dark with sadness. Jae Eun noticed the look on his face and panicked. “Is Jun okay?!” she asked. Mr. Black nodded. “He’s behind me in the SUV…” he muttered. Shinji piped up, breaking the silence, “…and Yui? Is she okay?” The SUV pulled up to the vacation house, and a visibly upset Jun stepped out. Shinji grabbed his arm. “WHERE IS SHE?!” he demanded. Jun looked at his friend, his lip quivering. “Shinji…we need to talk about what happened…” he began. Shinji threw his friend to the side and ran to the SUV. He saw the supine body of Yui and flung open the door in a rage. He grabbed her and held her in his arms. Takeshi, watching this event unfolding, heard his wife cough violently from the window, and ran to attend to her. Shinji held the pale body in his arms, he hand brushing the hair away from her face, tears dropping down and landing on her cheeks. Shinji brought her close, hugging her and sobbing. Suddenly he heard a low, barely audible, throaty growl. He pushed her away from him and dropped her in horror. Yui’s once closed eyes fluttered open, and she awoke, now reanimated. Shinji pulled his knife up to his face and grabbed her torn neck, holding her at bay. “Oh Yui baby…” he sobbed. He then raised the knife to stab her, but suddenly she jerked his arm, sending the knife flying out of his hand. Before she could sink her teeth into him, a gunshot ripped through the air. Yui’s head jerked back, blood spouting from a now open wound. She collapsed, falling out of Shinji’s arms. Shinji, in a shocked state, turned to face whoever shot her. It was Jae Eun, who had lowered her Walther PPK and turned around, her face red with tears. Shinji was stunned. “Y-you shot her! YOU SHOT HER YOU DID!” he yelled between gasps of air. Before he could approach her, Takeshi calmly stepped outside. His face was contorted into a broken, red, tear soaked mess. Jun and Haruna approached him. “Are you okay Takeshi?” Haruna asked. Hideki stepped outside to see the carnage, his eyes widening. Takeshi looked up after a few moments. Clearing his throat, he calmly answered: “My wife is dead” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: The group realizes they are not as safe as they had assumed, and begin to leave their new home.

Russian gang leader - Dimitri Alekseyevich Isayev
Summary: The group realizes they are not as safe as they had assumed, and begin to leave their new home.
Episode 203- No Safe Place Takeshi stared into space, grief swirling in his thoughts. Jun looked towards the house with concern. “She’s going to turn” he told Takeshi softly. Takeshi nodded and wiped his nose. “I will be the one to put her down…I have to be the one” he said. He unsheathed his army knife and slowly walked in the house closing the door behind him. Shinji then flew towards Jun and grabbed him by his shirt, his face red with anger. “YOU DID THIS! YOU GOT HER KILLED! IT WAS YOUR FAULT!!” he shouted. Jun shook Shinji off of him, grasping his friend’s shoulders. “It wasn’t my fault, I promise…you wouldn’t understand Shinji” Shinji laughed incredulously “Understand?! She’s dead, Jun! You came back fine, Mr. Black is fine, but she came back dead. Tell me what happened, NOW!” he commanded, pulling out his gun and aiming it at his friend. Ronin and Mr. Black stepped forward, but Jun waved them back, stepping towards Shinji in a friendly manner. Jun’s eyes were filled with tears as he approached his friend. “She saw something horrible in one house…something so terrible she no longer wanted to be in this new world. She…did it to herself, Shinji. If I could trade my life for her, I would in a heartbeat. I would trade my life for anyone here...ANYONE. I am truly sorry she’s gone, man. I really am” Jun orated with his voice trembling. Shinji, his face red with grief and his arm shaking, lowered his weapon and turned away. “I-I-I….I’m so…” Shinji choked. He dropped the gun on the gravel and walked over to Yui’s corpse. Ronin looked at the mourning Shinji and approached Jun. “You sure he’s stable?” he asked quietly. Jun nodded. “Why did you try to stop him? You have no loyalty towards me” he asked. Ronin looked Jun in the eyes. “Because your father entrusted our safety in your hands. And, I intend to respect you like I respected him” Jun smiled with mutual respect. Ronin looked at his now ruined suit. “Damn…this was my favorite suit too” he took off his blazer, and pulled out the cufflinks from his blazer. “Not throwing away these beauties” he said with a smile.
Haruna pulled Jun aside and ran her hand across his face. “You’re alright…you’re alright” she said, embracing him tightly. Jun hugged her back even harder. “I was so worried about you, mom” he whispered. Haruna kissed her son on his cheek. She wiped off a speck of blood on his nose and laughed. “Look at me. Cleaning my adult son like he was a child…” she stopped and collected herself. “Hideki has seen the horrors too. He might still be young, but he knows that the world he knew is gone. With you now leading us…I think we might stand a chance” Jun cocked his head. “Do we really? Yui is dead because of me. So is dad. I have gotten more people killed than I have to safety” Haruna pointed to the group outside. “Shinji, Akiko, Ronin, Takeshi and his wife, the Korean man, Jae Eun…all are here because you did what most people couldn’t: you stood up and took a risk. You are braver than any man I have seen around the dead. You might not have the confidence to know you are the right leader for us, but I know you are. You are more like your father than you like to think you are” she said. Jun looked at the group discussing what had happened and replied, “I hope you are right, mom…I really do” =============================== Mr. Black looked at the pile of walkers on the ground. “What happened while we were gone?” he asked. Ronin pointed to the crooked gate. “They pushed through. And if you hadn’t come, we would have been overwhelmed” Akiko looked at the snowplow with awe. “Where did you get that?” she asked. Mr. Black winked at her and coyly said “I am a man with many tricks up my sleeves. Maybe you will see a few more someday” Ronin rolled his eyes and helped Shinji up. “We will bury her soon…I will help you start digging, okay?” Shinji wiped his nose and nodded, following Ronin to the back yard. Mr. Black winked at Akiko, who blushed and hurried into the house. ================================ Takeshi slipped off his wife’s wedding ring and sat down in the chair hard. He remembered giving her the ring on a cold night, after they had gone out for a winter night’s walk. He proposed, and she hugged him as the snow fell around them. His chest tightened. All that was left of her now was his memories. No more would he have her giving him the courage to go on. He would never hear her laugh, or voice again. He looked at her, lying peacefully on the bed. “I am happy you did not live to see the horrors of this world” he said. “If only I was so lucky to join you” he regretfully commented. He stood and picked up the knife he laid down while entering the room. He kissed her on the forehead one last time, and then sunk the blade into her skull. He pulled the blade out, and stood in a daze, his stomach twisting and churning. “Oh god” he grunted as he sat down again. He then burst into tears dropping the knife on the flood in the process. =========================== Ronin and Shinji dug into the soil with shovels they found behind the house. A large tree shaded the back, with 2 curved metal benches surrounding the tree. They dug until they had two graves fully excavated. Ronin wiped his brow. His tattoos were visible now, and they were intricate as Shinji noticed. One was a naked woman being eaten by a dragon, another was a sword broken in two, with one end marked, “HONOR” and the other, “GREED” in Kanji. Shinji shook himself to get himself to stop staring at the tattoos. He went over to Yui’s body and froze. Ronin walked over to him and put a friendly arm on his shoulder. “I’m sorry, kid…she was a good woman” Shinji looked towards Ronin with a sad smile. “The best” he muttered. Ronin nodded in acknowledgement and went to gather the group to pay their respects. ===================================== That evening, the group gathered around the graves of Misaki Murano and Yui Kinoshita, the tops of the graves covered in wild flowers Haruna had picked an hour earlier. Mr. Black stood with a bible he had found in the vacation house bathroom, and flipped through a few pages. He wasn’t comfortable with religion, but this was a worthy exception. “I am not the best at these kinds of things…but I can say, in the time I have known these two lovely ladies, I saw that they both had a heart of gold, and made our lives better with their laughing smiles, their warm embraces, and their love. I might not have known them for years, but they will be missed in all of our hearts…and mine as well” Mr. Black looked at both Takeshi and Shinji, who both choked up. He squirmed, finishing with, “May they rest in peace, away from this new, ugly world” After the funerals, the group was at the kitchen table, with Ronin watching the gate from the window. Jun looked around at each member at the table. He looked at Jae Eun and his mother in the eyes the longest, and declared, “This place is no longer safe. With the walkers coming here this afternoon and the raiders last night, it’s safe to say this isn’t as secluded as my father had hoped it was. I think we might have to evacuate the vacation house, and move on to another location that’s safer” Akiko looked at Jun with stunned confusion. “Where is it safer? The whole country is either filled with people like the ones who attacked us, or the dead. Anywhere not burnt to the ground is crawling with infected. There is no safe place for us to go, Jun” she stated. Shinji nodded and added, “We would be wandering into an unknown wilderness. Unless we have a safe place already picked out, we would be walking into a deathtrap. So unless you have some bunker hidden we don’t know about, we are stuck here for the time being” Jun stood up violently. “This is not up for debate!” he shouted. Jae Eun stood up also, facing Jun. “Jun, I love you, but you need to plan this out before moving us to god knows where! Please…we can stay here a day or two more, if it means a safer alternative for us. That’s all we are asking” Jun bowed his head and sighed heavily. “Ronin, Mr. Black, do you know of any possible place we could go?” Jun asked. Ronin scratched his head in thought. “All the safe houses I knew are most likely compromised. The Yakuza don’t leave handouts for random strangers” Mr. Black cricked his head, “There is one possibility…” he pondered. Jun looked at him with intrigue. “What do you have?” he demanded. “The Shinda” Mr. Black responded. Jun frowned. “The Shinda? You mean the aircraft carrier the scientists were talking about at the compound?” Mr. Black nodded. “If it’s real as they say it is, we can go there and stay safe until this blows over” Ronin stormed over to Mr. Black, inquiring in a strong tone, “And do we know if they are safe? We don’t know a goddamn thing!” Mr. Black pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket. “This has the coordinates where the Shinda is anchored. I uh, swiped it from a dead prisoner while I was locked up. If we can go there, we might be able to ask for permission to come aboard. It’s our only option at this point. I think if we can drive there, we could see it in the harbor” Haruna perked her head up. “How will we know it’s not just some abandoned aircraft carrier? The navy is probably scattered by now anyways” she asked. Mr. Black shrugged. “From what the people in the cells back at the compound told me, it will be hoisting a large flag yellow, so that people can find it easily. But then again, they were probably pissing themselves in fear at that point, so that part might be a lie” he said nonchalantly. Jun rubbed his head with as if to release the stress in his mind. “Let me think about it tonight, okay? I will have an answer in the morning” he then left the group and went into his bedroom. Jae Eun looked at the others, quickly saying, “I think it’s a good plan myself” before following Jun. Ronin and Mr. Black eyed each other like two male lions. “Don’t screw with us, Korean” Ronin growled. Mr. Black smiled and placed a cigarette between his lips. “I’m in this mess too you know. I am not that suicidal” he looked at Shinji. “No offense” he added. Shinji waved him off and toyed with a bullet from one of the guns in his right hand. Takeshi stepped in between the two men. “Ronin, let Sung-min give us a chance, alright? He hasn’t wronged us yet” he suggested. Ronin huffed angrily and quickly went outside to stand guard. Mr. Black stood looking at Takeshi with mild amusement. “You remembered my name after all?” he musingly asked. Takeshi shot him a grumpy look, grunting, “I’m old but not old enough to forget stuff yet, KID”, garnering a coy smile from the Korean. ==================================== Jun stared at the ceiling, thinking over whether he should risk everyone’s life just for a crackpot theory that might or might not get everyone killed. Sure, Mr. Black was on the level most of the time, but could this be something he planned from the start? He wasn’t sure, but it didn’t hurt being careful. He was distracted by Jae Eun entering the bedroom and shutting the door. She smiled lovingly at him, and crawled into bed after stripping down to her underwear. Jun normally would have taken in the view in with glee, but this wasn’t a time for such distractions. Jae Eun snuggled next to him, running a hand down his chest in a teasing manner. Jun kissed her on her head, brushing the hair away from her face. Her purple and neon green highlights were beginning to fade, making her jet black hair show even more than usual. “Jun, I don’t want to force you to make a choice” Jae Eun whispered as she laid her head on his chest. Jun stroked her hair. “I know. I just want to make the right decision for everyone. It’s harder than I thought it would be” he said in a low tone. Jae Eun kissed his neck and looked him in the eyes with quiet determination. “Whatever you choose we will go along with” she said confidently. Jun laid his head on the pillow and murmured, “I made up my mind, I think” ====================================== The next morning Ronin awoke to a strange noise coming from outside. He yawned and stumbled up to the living room window overlooking the gate. Outside, he saw a figure on the gravel grasping for the door. Ronin sobered up and flung open the door. The figure looked up at him, his back covered in severe burns and blisters from exposure to fire. He turned and screamed, “HELP! I NEED HELP!” The man was brought inside by Shinji and Ronin, who laid him on the kitchen table after covering it with a thick blanket. The man’s arm was covered in thick bandages, with blood seeping through the cloth. Haruna, still slightly asleep, looked him over. She had been a doctor several years ago, so her expertise in medical knowledge was vast. She handed Hideki a glass of water with a long straw. “If he wants it, give it to him” she ordered. Hideki nodded, never taking his eyes off the man. Jun and Takeshi leaned over to look the man in the eyes. “Sir, are you awake?” Jun asked. Ronin pointed to the man’s arm. “Wonder if he was bit?’ he pondered. The man coughed violently and looked towards Ronin. “N…no I wasn’t bitten. It was the Korshas” he gurgled through the blood in his chest. Ronin’s eyes widened. Takeshi looked at Jun with terror in his face. Jun cocked his head in confusion. “Who are the Korshas?” he asked. Ronin answered for the man. “Only the most dangerous Russian looter gang in all of Asia. They enter countries after a major event and kill whoever is left, looting whatever they can get their hands on. They kill the men, rape the women and children, and then burn down whatever they can’t use” Mr. Black, who overheard the conversation walked up to the man and demanded, “Are they coming here?!” The man nodded slowly, then suddenly started convulsing and coughing up blood. He then stopped, and went limp. Jun looked at his mother and girlfriend, running his hand through his hair. “So they’re coming here. That’s just what I need are more problems” Ronin looked out the window cautiously, searching for any kind of movement. A single walker banged against the gate, but that was it. “So they must have seen you and Jun leaving the safe zone” Ronin scowled glaring at Mr. Black. Mr. Black shrugged. “I don’t know any Russians, and if I did, why would I bring them back here, huh?” Takeshi stepped in-between the two men and held up his hands. “Now is not the time for blame! Jun, you said you would decide whether we leave or stay. What is it?” he demanded. Jun looked at each person before stepping over to the dead man’s body. He ripped off the man’s dog tags, the name covered in too much blood to be legible. Jun swallowed and announced, “We are leaving for the Shinda in 2 hours. Pack up what we can’t live without and let’s get out of here before the Korshas find us” Ronin then stabbed the man in the head, to prevent later reanimation. The group scrambled to pack up anything they might need, while Ronin stood guard, watching for anyone who approached the vacation house. Hideki was packing up what few items he had in his room, when Jun stepped in. “Hey bro, have a second?” he asked. Hideki nodded silently as he packed his backpack with the few toys and items he had. Jun picked up an Ultraman figure from the table near Hideki’s bed. “I remember giving you this toy last Christmas!” he said, faking a smile. Hideki snatched the toy from his hand and stuffed it in the backpack. Jun touched his little brother on his arm, as if to garner his attention. “Look, Hideki, I know we aren’t close as of late, but we have to stick together now. Dad’s not here, but we still have each other and mom, right?” Hideki frowned and nodded. “You aren’t dad, Jun. No matter how much you try and act like him” he scornfully replied. Jun was hurt by the words, but hid it under the assuring smile he had plastered on his face. “I know, but I can try, can’t I?” he asked with a hint of humor. Hideki’s face dropped and a small smile spread across his face. “You’re an ass, Jun, but at least you’re here” he cheerfully uttered. ========================= Ronin’s belongings were sparse, and could fill a small shopping bag, so his packing was limited. He had stopped to take a break when he heard the faint sound of car doors slamming shut. He rushed behind a bush and quietly pulled out a hunting rifle with a suppressor he had leaning against the house. He peered through the scope to find 3 large men, white and covered in Russian gang tattoos storm up to the gate. One of the men put down the walker banging on the gate. He heard one to the men shouting in Russian as he pointed to the house. Ronin understood Russian, so he knew what they were saying. One of the men, armed with an AK-74 pointed to the house and rumbled, “*Find whoever is in the house and kill them! Leave the women!*” Ronin carefully aimed the rifle and fired. One Russian dropped dead, a gunshot to the head doing the job. The leader of the group looked around in a hurry and fired a shot in the air. Ronin fired again, striking the other follower in the mouth, killing him instantly. The leader broke the gate open and saw Ronin, firing his gun at him wildly. Jun and Mr. Black opened the door and aimed their guns at the Russian. “DROP IT!” Jun shouted. The Russian grinned wickedly and raised his rifle. Jun flinched as Mr. Black shot the Russian with his pistol, causing him to fall on the ground, clutching his chest. Jun pressed the gun against the Russian’s head and demanded: “WHO IS YOUR LEADER?” The man grinned and spat at Jun. “*You are all dead!*” he chortled in Russian, reaching for his dagger on his belt. Jun promptly shot the man without a second’s hesitation. He stood up and looked at the now broken gate, grimly saying, “We need to leave right now” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: The group finds temporary shelter, but can their new hosts be trusted?

NEW CAST: Lady Kasune-Yukie Nakama Rika Watanabe – Kamikokuryo Moe Noruno Hajima -Ryuhei Matsuda Jima Kagari - Teppei Koike Summary: The group finds temporary shelter, but can their new hosts be trusted?
Episode 204 – Safety The group pulled out of the driveway of the vacation house, with Jun and Jae Eun leading in the SUV, and Ronin and Shinji along with the other members in the military truck behind the SUV. Jun looked back to see the vacation house vacant and dim, and a great sadness filled his heart. In the back of the truck, Takeshi comforted Haruna as they went down the gravel road with a warm hand on her shoulder. “We saved up for that house for years, Takeshi. I damn near went broke just furnishing it. Now it’s going to be forgotten to time itself” Haruna mournfully recalled. Ronin drove behind Jun for hours, and eventually they had gone 150 miles before the SUV started to chug and clank, shuddering violently. Jun stopped the SUV to check the engine, stepping out to pop the hood. He knew nothing about cars, so he waved for Takeshi to help him look it over. “Looks like you’re out of coolant already. Might as well hop in the truck” Takeshi suggested. Jun motioned for Jae Eun to go to the truck, which she did. Jun pulled out the AK-74 from one of the dead Russians from the back seat and hopped in the truck. They pulled out and continued down the road, with walkers swarming the now empty SUV. Jun clocked their time on the road to around 6 hours. The truck was at ¾ empty, and Ronin eyed the gas gage with concern. “If we keep going, we will run out in around an hour. How much farther do we have to go?” he questioned. Mr. Black piped up, “We have another 60 miles before we reach the harbor” As they drove, Jun noticed that the deeper in the country they went, the fewer walkers they encountered. Ronin had only noticed one or two himself. The greenery around them was lush, and even Jun was mesmerized with the scenery. The truck eventually reached a small gas station deep in the country, and Ronin began to siphon gas from the nearby gas tanks under the station, while Shinji and Akiko searched the station for anything useful. Mr. Black stepped out and killed a walker with a long sharp metal rod he found on the ground. He saw another stumbling towards him and went to kill it also. It fell to the ground with a thud. “Disgusting” he murmured. Meanwhile, Akiko found the station to be mostly empty, save for a few potato chip bags and some pastries. Shinji picked up a Choco Crunch and tore open the packaging. “Save that for everyone!” Akiko scolded. Shinji took a spiteful bite before hearing a loud “HELP!” He and Akiko heard it come from the manager’s office behind the counter, and both scrambled for the room. Shinji was the first to open the door, only to find a young girl pinned to the ground by a walker, snarling and snapping at her. Her knife was across the room, so Shinji grabbed the walker and threw it against the wall. The walker was briefly stunned, and Shinji took that time to slam his knife into its forehead. A surge of anger flowed through him, and he withdrew the blade, only to stab again and again. Akiko stopped him, and gave him a stern look. She then helped the girl stand up, wiping off a smudge on her cheek. “Thank you for doing that…” the girl softly said, looking terrified at Shinji. Shinji, realizing she was scared, sheathed his knife and bowed politely. Akiko pointed to herself, saying “My name is Akiko, and this is Shinji. We’re not here to hurt you I promise. What is your name?” The girl looked at the door as if she were about to bolt. “…it’s Rika. Rika Watanabe. I live a few miles away in Shimura Village” Akiko smiled warmly. “Maybe you could take our group with you?” she asked. Rika looked at Shinji with fear, which he noticed immediately. “Look, I might be a guy but I won’t hurt you, I promise…only the dead ones, okay?” he assured her, matching Akiko’s smile. Rika nodded once and stiffly handed Akiko a radio. “When they ask you the security question Red White Blue & what, say Flag” she instructed. She then ran out of the station. Ronin saw her leave and attempted to stop her, but she slipped into the bushes nearby and vanished. Akiko and Shinji placed the looted food and supplies in the truck and handed Jun the radio. “The girl you saw gave us this. She mentioned this place called Shimura Village, and this is out way in” Jun looked at the device and asked with a raised brow, “A radio?” Akiko nodded and replied, “Answer ‘Flag’ and we should be fine” Jun nodded and headed down the road Rika headed for, with night settling in quickly. After about 15 minutes they arrived at a small gated community with a large metal gate reinforced with wood planks and metal straps, with the words “SHIMURA VILLAGE: RAIDERS BEWARE” Jun stopped the truck and turned on the radio. He switched through a few stations before finding one that worked. “This is Jun Masumoto. I am the leader of a group of survivors needing rest and supplies on our journey. May we enter?” There was a brief silence before a feminine voice on the other end answered: “Red, white, blue & what?” Jun looked at Ronin and replied “Flag” “Alright, but we will watch you. You may enter” the woman on the other end warned. The gates creaked open, and Ronin drove the truck through. The village was tiny, consisting of 4 small houses and a single large mansion in the middle, all fenced off with crude wooden fencing. The side lawns of the mansion were garden plots, with a shed in the background. Each house had a number, ranging from 1-4. As they parked, a man armed with a sawed off hunting rifle stormed up to them. He aimed the gun directly in Jun’s face. “How the hell did you get that radio and know the pass-code?!” he demanded. A click of a hammer being primed snapped the man to attention. Jae Eun had pulled out her gun and placed it against his head. “We aren’t here to cause trouble. But if you make it, you better learn how to take it” she said coolly. The man lowered the gun and sighed. “Well, if you wanted to rob us, you would have shot up the place already. Name is Noruno Hajima” Jun bowed politely, as did everyone minus Mr. Black. “May we speak to the leader of your village?” requested Takeshi. Noruno nodded sternly and pointed to the house. “Go on through, but…leave your guns and knives in the truck. The leader of this group may carry his or her weapon only” The group begrudgingly removed their weapons and placed them in the trunk inside the back of the truck. Jun kept his father’s revolver holstered. Noruno eyed him up and down. “You are the leader?” he asked with some bewilderment. “I am” Jun answered in a matter of fact tone “so what?” Toruno shook his head and led them in the house. The inside of the house was decorated with traditional Japanese décor. Bamboo scroll posters of ancient samurai battling; a tidal wave; an archer aiming his bow. The house smelled like clean incense, with the floor covered in Tatami mats & lush Chinese rugs. The group was stunned with the view, with Hideki gaping noticeably at everything. Haruna and Takeshi breathed in the cool air, refreshed. Jun and Ronin looked around for anyone watching them, while Jae Eun, Akiko and Shinji wandered around. Mr. Black scoffed, “Tourist trap most likely”, only to receive a scowl from Takeshi. Jun held his hands up. “Hello? We wish to speak to whoever is in charge” The center of the room was circled by two large staircases, each made from lavish hardwoods. At the top they met, and a large ornate door was in the center. The door opened and in glided a woman, in her early 30’s, dressed in lavish silk robes, lined with gold cloth and gorgeous designs. Her face was painted akin to a Geisha, but with more modern colors and details. She was so gorgeous she took Jun, Shinji, Mr. Black and even Ronin by surprise. Holstered on her hip was an ornate 1911 pistol, almost identical to the one Ronin carried. She almost floated down the stairs and stood before them, a warm smile across her face. In a smooth, enrapturing voice she said “Welcome to my settlement, strangers. Make yourselves at home. We have much to discuss” as she extended an arm towards another room. Ronin was stunned by her beauty, and she fully noticed his attention, smiling coyly at him as he walked in before her. They entered the room to find a table with several small pillows for them to relax on, and the lady motioned them to sit. They all sat, with the lady sitting at the head of the table. She closed the door behind her while seated and said, “My name is Lady Kasune, and I am the leader of this humble sanctuary. What are you doing here, and what can I do for you?” “We are looking for fuel and rest for the night, Lady Kasune. We mean no harm to you, or your people, I swear” Takeshi answered. Kasune politely smiled at him and asked, “You are the leader?” Takeshi motioned to Jun. “We follow him. But sometimes an elder is more suited for negotiations. I hope you understand that” he replied, receiving a thankful look from Jun. Kasune poised herself, showing her exposed neck and chest to Jun. “Of course. You may rest here for the night. However, I wish to speak with the Yakuza member among you” she demanded. Ronin stood and bowed to her. “I’ll be fine Jun. Don’t worry about me” Kasune grinned and motioned to the small panels behind the group. “Behind each door is a bed. Some of you might have to share, so I apologize ahead of time. I shall wish to speak with you in the morning” she stood and turned to leave. Jun piped up, “Just like that? Come on, you must want something from us” Kasune replied “In the morning. Good night” =========================== Ronin waited until Lady Kasune left the room, and stood to attention. “You and I will speak upstairs” she stated. Ronin followed her into the room behind the large doors at the top of the steps, and was dumbstruck. “Please, have a seat” she invited him to sit on the red queen sized bed in the middle of the room. On one side was a make-up and clothing area, with 2 large mirrors on the walls, and on the other various paintings and calligraphy decorated the wooden walls. Ronin stood instead, a stern look across his bearded face. “Why did you take us in? You know nothing about us, yet you allowed us into your community without hesitation” he interrogated. Lady Kasune laughed softly, sitting on the bed’s edge. She pulled her pistol out and held it in front of her. “You know, most men stare at certain aspects of my character. Some stare at my face. Some stare at my body. But you stare at my weapon with familiarity. Why?” Ronin pulled from his vest his own 1911 he had snuck in, and unloaded it. “Because I have one just like yours, only in gold. A two of a kind set, from my father’s collection. Now, either this is a fake, or you stole it from him. Which is it?” he demanded, eyeing her with suspicion. Lady Kasune placed the gun on the table and stood before him. She untied her robes and dropped them, standing fully unclothed before Ronin. Ronin first noticed the large tattoo on her back, a dragon consuming a boatful of villagers with fire wrapped around the dragon’s jaw. “You are of the same Yakuza family as my father is the head of” Ronin realized. Lady Kasune smiled. “Your father’s name was Tomohisa Norinaga. I know this because I was his lover for a time. But you wouldn’t have known that, being disgraced and disowned. I assume that’s why you took up the name you now carry: Ronin. Master-less Samurai. Seems fitting, now that you have that boy as your current master” she teased in a cruel tone. Ronin turned away for her, hiding a tear that rolled down his cheek. The last time had cried, his father punched him in the stomach. Ronin stood to leave, when Lady Kasune ran towards him, still unclothed. “Look, I am sorry for the cruel words. I figured you were weaker. Honestly, I almost wanted you to take me right then and there” she admitted. Ronin looked over his shoulder and replied, “I don’t want my father’s leftovers. Goodnight” he closed the door and went to join the others for a nights rest. ===================================== The next morning they awoke to a bright morning, the fog outside creating a moist, cool environment. Jae Eun sat at the table along with the others, while Haruna assisted with the cook of the house, Jima Kagari. Jima was in his late 20s, his hair black, with small facial features and having a thin physique. Haruna helped him spoon rice into bowls, while he filled the bowls with shredded tuna & greens. “Your group is so interesting to us” Jima confessed in a feminine voice “I think the most interesting one here is your son. He must be as tough as his father” he fawned. Haruna smiled slightly. “He is more so. We have faced severe loss over the past week. He has got us father than I would have imagined” Jima nodded sternly, then slipped into a sly grin. “He’s not….single is he? Being a gay man myself, I can’t help but like men like that” Jima gushed. Haruna laughed heartily and pointed to Jae Eun through the door with a spoon. “She is his girlfriend. But I will let you know when he is single” she joked. They then both shared a laugh, and served the others breakfast. Ronin poked his food with his spoon, deep in thought. Shinji shoveled a pile of rice in his mouth and with his cheeks stuffed with food he asked, “What’s wrong man?” Ronin shook his head dismissively. Mr. Black coughed as if to make an announcement. “Listen, I told Takeshi and Ronin here my real name. I figure you guys ought to know it too. My real name is Sung-min Cho…Mr. Black was a cover” Jun looked at the Korean with slight amusement. “Well…that was random, but thanks for telling us, Sung-min” he replied. Hideki was seated next to his brother and saw a little girl peek out from behind the door. He perked his head up, and craned his neck to see where she went. Haruna rubbed his head playfully. “Maybe you two can play later on” she suggested. Hideki looked at his mother disgruntled and ate another bite. Takeshi sat at the end of the table, playing with his wife’s wedding ring. It had only been 2 days since she passed, but he was still at a loss. Akiko rubbed his back with a loving hand, smiling comfortingly at him. Takeshi smiled back and stuffed the rind in his pocket. Lady Kasune entered the room, dressed in a loose red kimono, her makeup removed with her hair tied into a tidy bun. “I hope you enjoyed the meal! I assume you slept well?” she inquired. Hideki stuffed a final bite in his mouth and nodded. Haruna stood and bowed thankfully. “You are such a kind host, Lady Kasune” she said “I only hope we can repay the favor” Lady Kasune’s smile faded slightly and she looked directly at Jun. “We do need you to assist us with something actually. If you do this, you will be given the fuel you need and whatever supplies you need. You see, we are mostly safe here, due to the handful of dead in this area of the country. The living however…” she trailed off. Sung-min stood and blurted “You want us to kill some people?” Lady Kasune nodded. “We have a man hiding in the shack on the small cliff overlooking the community. We tried to ask him to leave before you came. He killed out dignitary. Take him out and you will be taken care of, I promise” Jun shook his head. “We aren’t hired guns, miss. If you want us to murder a man in cold blood, then we will go with whatever we have left. Sorry, but we aren’t going to cross that line just yet” he said in a strong tone. He stood and beckoned the others to leave too, but Lady Kasune stopped him. “I did not myself clear earlier I’m afraid. This man…in the past he was a feared pedophile and murderer. So while you might be afraid to get blood on your hands, he isn’t” she added. Ronin stepped forward. “I’ll do it. I’ve killed people before” Jun shot a look towards Ronin and snapped, “I won’t allow it!” Ronin snarled, “I am not your slave, Masumoto! Back off!!” He then stormed off and left the house. Lady Kasune shrugged. “He is a man of his own free will I’m afraid” Jun gripped her by the collar and snarled with rage; “If Ronin is killed because you withheld information, I will not hesitate to kill you” He let her go and went after Ronin, leaving the others in his group stunned. Ronin was already in the back of the truck, pulling out one of the AK-74s they obtained from the dead Russians and was checking the magazine. Jun stormed up to him and yanked the gun out of his hands and threw it to the ground. Noruno started to walk up to them, gun drawn, when Jun pointed at him, halting the man in place. “Look Ronin, I know you think you have what it takes, but killing a man in cold blood for fuel and food is not the way for us to live” Ronin picked up the rifle and went to the gate. “Come on man, don’t go alone at least. Let me go with you” Jun pleaded. Ronin hung his head and sighed. “Fine, but don’t interrupt me. Come on, let’s go while it’s still bright out” Ronin grunted. They both drew their weapons, and the gate opened, allowing them to leave. A single walker stumbled towards them, only to get stabbed in the head by Jun. They then went into the nearby bushes and off towards the shack. ===================== Haruna looked out the window at the two men leaving, when Jae Eun came up to her. “I hope they aren’t falling into a trap” Haruna sighed nervously. Jae Eun replied, “If it is a trap, we won’t let them take advantage of us” with a determined look. Haruna nodded and called out, “HIDEKI! HIDEKI WHERE ARE YOU?” There was no answer. She called out again, only to receive nothing in response. Her eyes widened when she saw his Gameboy he played constantly lying on his cot. She looked up, fear and panic on her face. He was gone. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: As Ronin and Jun learn more about their new hosts, a familiar enemy make their presence known.

NEW CAST:
Soo Yung Kim - Kim Hyo-yeon AKA Hyoyeon Dmitri – Pavel Derevyanko Alexi - Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Ilyin Zorgav - Dmitry Nazarov Summary: As Ronin and Jun learn more about their new hosts, a familiar enemy makes their presence known. Episode 205: The Lion Ronin and Jun slowly made their way to the shack, attempting to not be heard by anyone or anything, hiding behind a large rock. “You see this guy?” Jun asked silently. Ronin poked his head up and shook his head. “Seems empty. Might as well take a look inside, see if there is anything worth scavenging” they stood and slowly walked towards the shack. The shack was small, constructed of rough metal siding welded together, with a crude triangular roof on top with a variety of junk hung on the walls. The door to the shack used to be white, but years of rain and humidity degraded the paint, staining the door a patchy red complexion. They opened the door to find a crude dwelling place, decorated with a small wood stove, a rough bed, a tiny battery powered radio, an end table with a lantern and a handful of porn magazines lying on the floor. Ronin curled his nose, noting the smell emanating from the bed. “Something is not right here” Ronin stated, as he flipped the bed over. A small hatch with Japanese military code was hidden underneath the bed. Jun gasped, “That’s a World War 2 era bunker entrance!” Ronin nodded and turned the circular handle, causing it to groan open. Ronin aimed his AK down the shaft and then motioned for Jun to follow him. They then went down the dark shaft. ========================== “HIDEKI!” screamed Haruna. She ran out of the house and towards Sung-min, who was lighting a cigarette. “Have you seen my son?!” she pleaded. Sung-min shook his head, but then noticed something on the wall next to the #2 house: a knotted rope. “Maybe he climbed up and over with that” he said, pointing to the rope. Haruna then ran over to Noruno, who was clearly irritated with her panic. “I need to find my son, please!” she begged him, only to receive a strong push to the ground. “I don’t have time to find you brat!” Noruno snarled. Sung-min approached and helped Haruna up, brushing off her grey overcoat. “Look, I can go find him, don’t you worry. I’ll bring him back” Sung-min said with a reassuring smile. Haruna kissed Sung-min on the cheek and replied, “We are lucky to have you with us” Sung-min started to head for the gate when Noruno stomped up to him, grabbing his right shoulder and spinning him around. “You think because Lady Kasune gives you bedding and food, OUR FOOD, you can just waltz around doing whatever you want?” he bellowed. Sung-min peeled his hand off his shoulder and waved for the gate to open. The gate creaked open, and Sung-min ran through. Noruno wiped his nose and instructed one of the gate openers; “If he comes back, don’t open the gate” =========================== Hideki had snuck out outside to follow the strange girl who had spied on him during breakfast, catching her climbing a rope over the wall, and acting accordingly. He followed her for what seemed like ages, until he tripped on a large branch. Picking himself up, he discovered a burnt walker shambling towards him, his eyes now white from the exposure to napalm, with its skin now dangling off the bones. It snarled at him, reaching towards Hideki with its burnt, twig-like arms. Hideki found a heavy branch and having equipped it swung it aimlessly, trying to hit the monster. The walker ignored the branch and lunged towards him, landing face first in the leaf covered forest. Hideki took advantage of this, raising the branch and swinging it down hard onto the walker’s head. The branch made contact, and a sickening crunch reverberated through his ears. The walker’s skull had been cracked, but it was still alive, attempting to stand up. Hideki raised the branch again and brought it down even harder on its head again, but this time a loud, squishy crunch was heard, as small bits of brain and brain splattered on Hideki. He stood frozen in shock, surprised with the blood and viscera before him. “Oh god” he choked, falling back onto the ground. Leaves fell from the trees around him, as he sat there, horrified with what he had done. ===================================== Haruna sat in the large house’s dining room, horrified she had let her 14 year old wander outside alone. How could she, as a mother, do this? Akiko sat next to her, as did Jae Eun, and remained silent. “I failed Toro and myself” she whimpered through her tears. Akiko hugged her arm and replied; “Sung-min will find him, I’m sure of it” Jae Eun silently stood and left the room. Haruna sniffed again, and touched her head against Akiko’s. “You are all the best family I could ask for” she whimpered “even if the world has ended” Jae Eun had heard Noruno issue the order earlier to not allow Sung-min to reenter the community, and was going to do something about it. She made her way up the stairs and flung open the large doors at the top. She found Lady Kasune wrapped in a towel, having taken a bath. “What the hell is your problem here?!” Jae Eun demanded. Lady Kasune shrugged innocently, and replied, “I have no clue what you are talking about, dear” Jae Eun angrily pointed in the direction of the gate. “Your GOON out there said that if we leave without permission, we don’t get to come back in. Sung-min left to find my boyfriend’s little brother who jumped the wall, and your man won’t let him in again once he comes back!” she nearly shouted. Kasune sighed and sat down gracefully on the small cushioned chair near her bed. “You need to understand, we are all adjusting to this…outbreak in our own ways. Mine is indulging in the finer aspects of life. However, we found this little settlement empty, having belonged to a former drug lord, and with the house abandoned. One person who came here with us went out to see if there were more survivors along the road. She ended up bringing back a rapist who attacked my little sister, Rika. You see, we don’t want to rip you off, but if our survival meant leaving you with the short end of the stick, then so be it…” She relaxed and uncrossed her legs, letting her wet hair dangle behind the chair’s back. Jae Eun was stunned. “What the hell happened to humanity? How did we go from a civilized society to putting up a front just to stay alive?” Kasune stood and brushed her hand against Jae Eun’s cheek. “You kill or you die. But…I don’t think killing your group will amount to anything. Besides, you are too adorable to kill just yet” she said brushing the hair away from her face. She smiled and leaned in, as if to kiss her, but stopped just short. Jae Eun backed away slowly and softly demanded, “Allow Sung-min in when he comes back. Please” Kasune nodded and pinched Jae Eun’s chin. “I will allow it” She let go and went behind her ornate room divider, changing into an orange and gold dress. “My dear, when you get bored of your man, be sure to keep me in mind. I enjoy the company of both parties” she said, winking at the girl in front of her. Jae Eun turned to leave the room saying aloud, “When hell freezes over” ============================== Jun and Ronin entered the dark tunnel, the smell of mildew and rot filling their nostrils. Ronin curled his nose and pointed to the hallway adjacent to the entrance. The sound of shuffling feet snapped their attention to a rough wooden door at the end of the tunnel. Jun stood to one side, with Ronin raising his rifle at the door. Jun swung it open and Ronin burst in the room. A woman with bloodied clothing was curled against the corner of the room, shielding herself from whatever she was expecting them to do to her. “Please don’t kill me!!” she sobbed. Jun lowered his revolver, with Ronin following suit. “We aren’t here to kill you miss, I promise” Jun replied in a comforting manner. The woman, still sobbing lowered her arms. “They are going to rape and murder me!” she wailed. Jun knelt down and handed her his water bottle. “Who is going to do that? The people in the settlement a mile away?” he asked. The woman shook her head and accepted the water bottle. She took a long drink before wiping her mouth. She was Korean Jun could tell, based on her facial features and her accent slipping through her Japanese, with long hair dyed blonde, and a narrow face. Her eyes were wider than any Korean he had seen, prompting Jun to ask; “What is your name?” The woman caught her breathe and responded, “Soo Yung Kim”. Jun was dumbfounded. “The singer, dancer and model Soo Yung Kim?!” She nodded, smiling due to him knowing about her. Ronin butted in with; “Who are chasing you, Soo Yung?” Soo Yung stopped smiling and replied in a simpering tone, “The Korsha’s. They are killing anyone they come across, and leaving the women for an even worse fate” Jun looked at her with mild panic. “Are you sure it’s the Russians?” he asked. The girl nodded. Ronin perked his head upon hearing something from the hatch. It was the voices of 2 men, both Russian based on their language. Soo Jung began to sob with fear, while Ronin raised his rifle. Jun quietly whipered in his ear, “If we shoot them with that, it will make the whole area know we are here. Maybe we should deal with the quietly” Ronin nodded and drew his knife. Jun drew his as well, and threw a crude blanket over Soo Yung. Ronin listened to hear one of the Korsha’s grunt loudly, “*It’s an empty tunnel Alexi. We should leave before more dead come here*” the other man, Alexi responded with a raspy laugh. “*Are you kidding, Bobrev? This place is the last location we saw that Korean bitch. And with a tail as fine as hers, no way I am just letting her run away*” Jun placed his index finger over his lips, to keep Soo Yung quiet while Ronin stood by, waiting for the two Korsha’s to wander into the room. One of the men approached the door, silently shaking the doorknob to see if it was locked. Just as the door was about to be flung open, the other Korsha shouted, “*ALEXI!! WE HAVE DEAD UP HERE!!” The other Korsha thundered down the hall, and shot up the ladder. Ronin opened the door to see that the tunnel was all clear. Jun helped Soo Jung up and handed her his knife. “You know how to kill the walkers, right?” he asked. She shook her head. “You have to attack the brain to kill them. So shoot or stab the brain to drop them” Jun patiently explained. Ronin waved his arm in a hurrying manner. “Come on! We should leave before they come back”. Jun, Ronin and Soo Yung then left the tunnel and headed for the hatch. ============================= Hideki sat perfectly still. The walker he had killed had a name tag, now long illegible from blood stains, but he could still make out “Yum Yum Burger” on the tag. The walker had been a person like him, with the same goals, same habits perhaps, but was now a dead corpse, now to be long forgotten. Hideki stood, finally having regained strength in his limbs, when the girl he had been following came up to him. She was the girl Akiko and Shinji had met at the gas station, Rika. Rika took Hideki by the hand and hugged him. “Why are you hugging me?” Hideki asked. “Because you need it” Rika calmly responded. She smiled and untied his red scarf, revealing his long neck. “Why hide what you have?” she asked with a chortle. Hideki hung his head. “I was always made fun of in school. I don’t like people not knowing who I am, but instead just mocking me” he mournfully replied. She hugged him again and took his hand, leading him to a small, long abandoned playground. She pointed to a decaying concrete dome, with faded painted dinosaurs on the outside, the inside illuminated by a single ragged hole. Hideki went inside to find a collage of art, mostly primitive and bursting with color. He was awe struck, asking, “Why did you bring me here?” Rika shrugged. “I wanted to show you beauty in the world we are now in. Figured it would cheer up your day” she explained with a smile. Hideki smiled also, touching one piece of art, a lion. As his fingers began to run down the lion’s mane, he heard loud stomping coming closer. Rika gasped and turned to him. “RUN! IT’S THE-” she yelped before being struck across the mouth with a rifle butt. Hideki backed against the curved wall, terrified. The limp body of Rika was suddenly dragged away from the entrance, with more footsteps approaching the dome. Suddenly, a large man, with Caucasian features entered the dome. He was about 6 foot 2, with a large face, hardened from a tough life, dressed in an army jacket with a machete hanging from his hip. He threw a cigarette on the ground and smoothly pulled out a large pistol, aiming it at Hideki. Hideki fell to the ground in fear, gasping for breath. The man smiled wickedly, saying in near perfect Japanese, “Come with me kid, or she is fed to the corpses” Hideki picked himself up and obeyed the man. Around the playground were around 30 large, heavily armed men, all but one of them Russian. The single non-Russian was Arabic, with a curved machete and a sawed off shotgun, a large tattoo spread across his face. The man who spoke to Hideki holstered his gun and spread his arms wide. “*Look what I found, boys! A lad and his lady!*” the men laughed, with one holding Rika by her arms. “*Hey Dmitri, mind if we test drive this one?*” one Russian asked, eyeing Rika with thirst. Hideki, enraged, attempted to tackle the man, only to get struck on the jaw with a large fist. He was then greeted with a large M60 machine gun aimed at his head, wielded by a fat Russian man with a bald head. “*Planning to fight for her honor, were you?*” the Russian laughed mockingly. Dmitri waved at the other man, “*Easy Zorgav, he is just a kid*”. Hideki stood and looked at the man who had met him previously. “What do you want with us?” The man, Dmitri, sighed and placed a hand on the kid’s shoulder in an almost fatherly manner. “You came from a walled in settlement, no? Maybe, if you ask nicely for us, you can let us in? If you let us in, we won’t hurt you or your friend here. If you fail, or refuse…well…I’m sure the dead will not mind a feast. What do you say, champ?” he asked, slightly squeezing his shoulder. Hideki looked at Rika, who had awoken, and was shaking her head. He sighed and answered; “Yes. But I want your word you won’t hurt her” Dmitri nodded, “I promise kid. Now, shall we go see what your place has to offer?” ============================== Shinji sat on a bench outside one of the houses, lost in thought when Takeshi approached him. “Are you doing alright?” the older man asked Shinji. Shinji shook his head, replying, “My girlfriend is dead, and everyone hates me. Of course I am not alright” Takeshi cricked his neck. “Everyone doesn’t hate you, Shinji. You pointed a gun at Jun, yes, but you have more than made up for that slip up. Look. I know what you are going through right now. My wife meant more to me than anything, and she is gone now. If it weren’t for Jun and the group, I would have probably killed myself a long time ago” he confessed. Shinji looked at Takeshi with mild shock. “I used to smile, and laugh, and love life. But now, with the dead taking over, I don’t know if there is anything for me to smile at” Takeshi confessed “It’s like we are going back to our savage roots. It’s something I just never expected to see myself” Shinji sighed and noticed Jae Eun leaving the house in a huff. He stood and approached her. “What’s wrong?” he asked. Jae Eun stopped and pointed to the gate. “Did you know Sung-min left to find Hideki?” Takeshi bolted up. “HE WHAT?!” he asked loudly. Jae Eun started to tear up. “He’s gone. As it Jun and Ronin” Takeshi shot a hostile look towards the house and sighed angrily. “These people are taking advantage of us” he growled. ================================= Jun peaked through a slit on the hatch’s rim, seeing the two Russians killing walkers, one with a shovel and the other with a machete. Jun looked down towards Ronin and Soo Yung. “They are distracted by the walkers. Maybe we sneak away?” he suggested. Ronin shook his head. “We have to take them out before they find Shimura Village, Jun. It’s the ugly truth, but it has to be done” Ronin explained sternly. Jun sighed and exited the hatch, with Ronin following him. Soo Jung stayed in the tunnel, until the all clear was given. The first Russian, Alexi, had finished hacking a walker apart with a heavy machete, when he heard the snapping of a twig behind him. Before he could react, Ronin had pounced and shoved his knife deep into the back of his neck, killing him instantly. The other Russian turned and raised his rifle, immediately facing Jun pointing his revolver at him. “DROP IT!” Jun ordered. Ronin translated it into Russian, surprising Jun and making the Russian drop his AKMS. Ronin, in Russian, demanded “*What are you doing here?*” The Russian smiled and replied, “*Taking what’s left of the world. Grave robbing the corpse of society in a way*” Jun asked Ronin to translate what he was about to ask the Russian; “You’re looking for something specific. WHAT. IS. IT?” Ronin translated it, causing the Russian to reply in his native tongue. Ronin’s eyes grew dark, prompting Jun to ask, “What did he say?” Ronin replied in a grave tone, “The Korsha’s are looking for the settlement with giant walls. He said…they are on their way there as we speak” The Russian then grabbed Ronin’s rifle, pulling out a knife from his belt and raising it in a murderous way. Before any of them could react, a PLINK rang across the area. The Russian had been struck in the head with a bullet, killing him. As he fell to the ground dead, the two men turned to see Sung-min lowering his suppressed 1911. Jun smiled and nodded at him, with Ronin begrudgingly nodding in appreciation also. Soo-Yung popped out of the tunnel, staring at the blood around her. Jun had picked up the discarded AKMS and the pistol from one of the dead Russians, when he suddenly heard a gunshot ringing across the valley. The four of them gathered around, when Jun realized what was happening: The Korshas had found Shimura Village. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the mid season finale of The Walking Dead Japan: When the Korshas attack Shimura Village, much will be lost, including safety and survivors.

NEW CAST: Eiji -Yuki Furukawa SUMMARY: When the Korshas attack Shimura Village, much will be lost, including safety and survivors.
Episode 206- Tears on the Lotus Petal Takeshi stomped over to Noruno, and with one smooth motion slammed his fist in the man’s jaw, sending him flying onto the wet ground. Shinji was shocked to see Takeshi act in such a rash manner. Normally, Takeshi was calm and collected, but, he thought to himself, when the world changed for the worse he changed for the worse. Noruno picked himself up, wiping his jaw. “The hell, old man? You taking your frustration out or something?” he demanded. “You know why I did that, you son of a bitch!” spat the older man his fists clenched so hard his knuckles began to turn white. Haruna, Jae Eun and Juma ran out, with Juma holding back Noruno, and Haruna holding Takeshi. “Your boy is dead, woman! It’s his damn fault he went over the wall!” Takeshi’s face twisted into a crumpled, red mask almost as he spat, “The dead are overtaking the living and you are worried about nothing but yourself?! If you had any sense you would blow your own brains out!” Haruna was taken aback due to Takeshi’s viciousness. Suddenly, a distant, “Hello?” broke up the confrontation. Both sides turned towards the gate, with the main gate operator shouting, “It’s the kid!” Haruna and Takeshi ran to the gate, with Noruno waving at the operator to open the gate. Haruna and Takeshi ran outside the gates, with Noruno following them. Haruna embraced her son tightly, sobbing with joy. “I was so worried about you!” she exclaimed, with Takeshi smiling like he used to, before the end came. “Mom…I need to tell you something” Hideki prompted his mother. Haruna nodded and replied, “Anything. What is it?” Hideki looked behind him, a worried look on his face. “Go back inside and lock the gates. Please!” he pleaded. Haruna was in total shock, asking, “What? Why would we do that?!” Hideki turned around, facing the woods near the gates. “I…I…I won’t do it. I can’t do it!” he shouted. “What are you doing?!” Takeshi demanded, scanning the woods. Hideki began to explain with, “Mom, I can’t let-”. A shot rang through the woods, flying past a stop sign and finding its intended target: Hideki’s head. The bullet struck the back of his skull, sending a spray of blood and brain matter flying out around the area. Hideki collapsed limply on the ground, his face frozen in a state of shock as his eyes grew dim. Haruna barely processed what had just happened, the breath in her chest now punched out of her. She collapsed, and began to scream in anguish, gasping and gulping for air as if she were drowning. Takeshi, his face red with both anger and grief, grabbed her and ran with her in his arms in the village. Noruno took one horrified look at the child’s body, and screamed, “CLOSE THE GODDAMN GATES!” he turned again to face the threat, his Glock 19 drawn, when a round struck him in the face, shredding the front part of the skull into horrific, disfigured gore which struck the gate, painting it red. At once, the two gate operators raised their rifles, slamming the gate shut as the sound of boots stomping in their direction grew louder. The woods then poured out with 30+ men, armed with rifles, machetes, axes, chainsaws, anything that would kill a man, and began to bang on the gate. Takeshi ran inside the large house and shouted, “ARM YOURSELVES!!” He himself threw open the chest they had brought with them, pulling out an MP5. Shinji, Jima, Jae Eun, Akiko, and 5 of the villagers surrounded the older man, who passed around guns to every member. Lady Kasune hurried down the stairs, her gun drawn, and surveyed the scene with confusion. “What are you doing?” she demanded indignantly. Takeshi shot her a venomous look and snarled, “Saving your lives!” As they marched out of the house, the gate was flung open with the help of a large semi truck being smashed through them, as it careened out of control and smashed through a section of the wall, eventually crashing into a tree. Korshas swarmed through the gate, only to be met with a hail of bullets, as the villagers began to shoot with reckless abandon. Dmitri made his way in the village, Rika in his grasp, eventually catching the eye of Lady Kasune. She stopped, and in horror cried, “NO! PLEASE DON’T HURT HER!” Dmitri grinned and ran a hand through Rika’s smooth black hair, gently kissing her on the head. He then raised his giant handgun to her head, and pulled the trigger. Rika’s brain was shot across the village, with Dmitri smiling the whole time. He then aimed his gun, shooting a villager in the head. “*What yours is now ours! Take the women and burn the rest!!*” he shouted. Takeshi and the others retreated into the house, with Takeshi smashing one Korsha across the jaw with his rifle butt. Shinji noticed a Korsha raising his rifle to shoot the occupants in the house and without thinking raised his gun, shooting the man several times in the chest. Takeshi slammed the door shut, shouting, “Barricade the door! We need to take them out from in here!” Kasune stood in shock, horrified at the warzone her village erupted into. ============================= Jun, Ronin, Sung-min and Soo Yung arrived at the edge of the woods, seeing the chaos unfold. Ronin and Sung-min readied their rifles, and made their way to the now ruined gate. A Korsha wandered past them, only to receive a knife in the skull from Sung-min, as they found a position to their advantage. Ronin’s rifle sang first, spewing lead and dropping two Korshas, while Jun’s revolver blew another’s brains out. Sung-min shot two Korshas who raised their rifles to shoot the new enemies from the woods before ducking for cover behind a derelict car. Dmitri shot his handgun at the woods, motioning his men to cover him. He then plunked down a large case, and opened it, revealing an RPG. He took it out, loaded a rocket and aimed it at the house. His finger squeezed the trigger, sending the missile slamming into the second floor of the house. Takeshi punched out a window, shooting a Korsha squarely in his face, and aimed at Dmitri, who was loading a second rocket. Meanwhile, Haruna, Jima and Akiko were hiding in the kitchen, stunned from what was happening at the moment, when they heard from the cellar door near them a loud smashing noise. “They got in through the cellar window” gasped Jima. Haruna wiped a tear from her eye, and with rage filling her, she grabbed a large knife. Akiko raised her PPK, as the cellar door creaked open. The sound of guttural Russian was now filling the kitchen, as two Korshas entered. Jima was spotted instantly trying to hide in the nearby closet, but before either one could shoot him, a shot tore through one Korsha’s sternum, sending blood spilling everywhere. The other was greeted with a knife to the throat, as Haruna attacked him with pure rage in her eyes. She screamed with primal anger, as the knife was shunted into the man’s face, neck and chest several times, shocking both Jima and Akiko with her savagery. Akiko finally came to her senses and shot the other Korsha in the head before he could turn. Jun holstered his revolver, instead opting for his AKMS, which spat furiously at whoever it was pointed at, dropping them on the ground with relative ease. Jun began to feel reservations he had previously felt for killing began to melt away, as more and more enemies fell to his rifle. Ronin and Sung-min followed up behind him, mowing down more Korshas. Dmitri noticed the lone man killing his soldiers and waved his arm towards the hole the truck had made in the wall frantically. “*Retreat! Get out before they kill you all!*” he screamed. As the remaining Korshas fled through the hole in a panic, Dmitri felt a sharp pain pierce his side, suddenly noticing he had been shot. He looked up to see Takeshi had shot him from the window, his face almost smiling. Dmitri fell to the ground, the warm feeling of blood seeping through his shirt, the pain almost paralyzing. Jun walked up to him, picking up a nearby hammer from a long dead Korsha, kicking away the handgun lying by the wounded man. He stood over the Russian, who grinned with blood pouring out of his mouth. “Are you here to avenge the little brat’s death, huh? How about the girl’s?” he asked Jun in Japanese. Jun suddenly noticed out of the corner of his eye the body of his younger brother on the ground, a burnt flag covering him. Ronin walked over to Hideki’s body, and uncovered the flag to reveal his body. Ronin stood, his face twitching in rage and grief. He was glad Toro had not been alive to see the sight of his son’s dead body lying on the ground, a puddle of blood pooled around the head. Jun looked back towards the Russian with pure, unbridled rage brimming in his eyes. He clenched the hammer tightly and took deep, rapid breaths. Haruna walked over to her son, covered in blood as she saw the kneeling figure of Dmitri in front of Jun. “I destroyed your family, your safe haven…your hope. I beat you kid. I won in the end” Dmitri mockingly taunted Jun. Jun had a memory flash before him as he raised the hammer. Jun walked in the much younger Hideki’s room, the younger brother struggling to figure out a model kit he had bought with his own money. “Drat! I can’t snap the wings in!” Hideki shouted. He then plopped the model on the desk with an exhausted sigh. Jun picked up the model, examined it, and then easily snapped in the wings, placing it front of his brother with a small grin. Hideki stared at his older brother with awe, excitedly picking up the model and running his fingers along the edges of the wings. The sun shone through the window, as the evening air began to blow in the room, with the smell of rain permeating the wind. Hideki stood and walked over to Jun, wrapping his arms around his brother. “I love you Jun…you’re the best brother ever” Hideki softly commented. Jun tussled his brother’s hair, replying “And guess what? Whenever you need me, I will be there. I promise. I won’t let anything happen to you” Hideki looked up to his brother. “You promise?” he asked with childlike innocence. Jun knelt down and brushed the hair from his brother’s eyes, and said; “I promise, Hideki” Dmitri grinned with pure vindictive glee in his face. “DO IT YOU BASTARD!” he screamed. Jun’s eyes were filled with tears as he looked towards his mother, who met his gaze, and nodded, hanging her head afterwards. Jun’s face twisted into a red, bearly recognizable visage of his former self as he brought the hammer over his head and then with great force down onto the Russian’s face, landing on his left cheek bone with a squishy crunch. The Russian was rocked by the blow, blood seeping out of his eye socket. “The killer becomes the killed, and the man becomes a monster” Dmitri coughed, still grinning. Another blow landed, and another. Jun rained thunderous blows down upon the man’s head, crushing bone and sending blood splattering everywhere. The others watched as Jun zoned out, throwing blow after blow onto the head. Haruna slowly approached her son, who landed the final blow, before dropping the hammer to his side. He barely felt her hand on his shoulder, and felt as if he had been transported to another world almost, as any noise around him became a low humming noise, colors drained and movement slowed to a crawl. Lady Kasune surveyed the destruction, before approaching the body on her sister. She knelt down and covered the corpse with a blanket, stifling her grief. Soo Yung came out of the woods, and knelt down beside her. “I’m sorry this happened to you” she said in a mournful tone of voice. Kasune responded with; “So am I” She then noticed that the only survivors of her village were Jima, one of the gate operators named Eiji and herself, with the rest of the population having been killed in the attack. She recoiled at the site of the blood and destruction around her, overwhelmed with the carnage. She then noticed the walkers begin to shamble towards her from the main road that lead to the village. They had heard the noise of the battle, and had made their way there. It was a small group of only twenty or so, but they were still enough to strike total unprotected fear in her. She ran inside the ruined main house, as Jun, Ronin, Sung-min, Takeshi, Haruna, Jae Eun, Akiko, Shinji, Soo Yung, Jima and Eiji armed themselves with whatever melee weapons that had been dropped by the Korshas. As the walkers approached, Jun rushed forward, seeing pure red as he smashed the head in with his hammer, while Ronin and Jae Eun flanked him, both stabbing a walker on their own. Haruna, wielding a shovel, swatted one walker onto the ground before stabbing the shovel deep into the walker’s half burnt face. Takeshi and Shinji worked together to bring one walker down to its knees, with Takeshi using a lead pipe to crack the walker across the top of his head. Shinji used a broken pool cue to stab a walker through the forehead, with Takeshi stomping towards it and placing his foot on its chest, pushing the cue out of the walker’s head in the process. Akiko used a frying pan to smash an infected across the jaw, while Jima used Haruna’s discarded kitchen knife to shank his own approaching undead monster in the neck. Finally, Eiji and Soo Yung attempted to kill a walker with a plank of wood and a pocket knife, with Soo Yung stabbing the knife in the walker’s eye, but the plank of wood used by Eiji was useless, as the walker only turned its attention from Soo Yung to Eiji, and pounced on the man, using it’s fingers to tear the jaw off of Eiji, causing the man to make horrid gurgling noises, as he tried to scream in pain and horror. Soo Yung began to cry as the walker turned its gaze towards her, and almost grabbed her when a shot pierced the air, and the walker dropped dead. Soo Yung turned to see that Lady Kasune had stepped out of the house, having shot the infected dead with her pistol. Soo Yung stood and nodded her head in thankfulness. The group fought for a solid five minutes, before the last walker was shot in the head by Jun with his revolver. The group stood, catching their breaths, with dozens of walker corpses strewn about their feet. Ronin approached the dying Eiji, and stabbed him in the head with his knife, a grim expression across his face. “Poor bastard” he muttered. He stood to see Kasune staring at him, nodding in acceptance. Jun turned to the group, holstering his revolver. “We need to gather what supplies are left, and evacuate this place before more of the dead find us” he ordered. Lady Kasune pranced up to him, waving her finger in his face. “You think because you kill those savages and the dead you can just order us around like a warlord? Who the hell do you think you are?” she scolded. Ronin bellowed in rage, “He is the only person here who will keep us together!! If you want to live, shut your goddamn mouth!!” Jima piped up, “Where are we going to go? There are no other safe places we can stay that aren’t either infested with the dead, or were burned to the ground. How can-” He was cut off by Jae Eun, who replied, “We are going to find someplace that’s a sanctuary. Jun will lead us there” Kasune began to panic. “But where exactly is this sanctuary?” she demanded. Jun began to feel frustration built up inside him. “I don’t know!” he barked. “YOU DON’T KNOW?!” Kasune repeated in shock “Some leader you are!” Jun shot up, and flew towards her, his finger in her face. “AT LEAST I AM NOT WASTING MY TIME WITH DRESSES AND BEING A SPOILED PRINCESS!” he roared. “I am trying to keep these people, MY FAMILY, alive in this world. Anyone here who wants to try and make it on their own can leave. Go, get out of my face and stop wasting my time” he looked at his group, all with horrified looks across their faces. The old Jun they had known was now completely gone. “We work together or we die. And you want to live? Then you follow what I say when I say it. I may not be my father, but he is long dead. So you are stuck with me. No one is going to say stupid shit to my face? Then you answer to ME. And I am saying, we are leaving this place for a place I know we will be safe” Akiko innocently asked, “Where is this place, Jun?” Jun’s face was one of pure determination and cold confidence. “We are going to find the Shinda. And we will take as our own” He then noticed a surviving Korsha attempt to crawl away from the ruined village, and promptly shot him in the back of the head without a second’s hesitation. He looked at the ground, commanding; “We leave now” The group packed what they could find, including weapons, food, water, medical supplies and climbed into the truck that had been parked behind the main house earlier. Soo Yung climbed in, sitting next to Akiko. Akiko asked her, “Are you sure you want to join us?” the latter replying, “You are the only people I trust, so yes” Jima climbed in, across from Kasune, who held her sister’s bracelet in her hand, wallowing in deep, blackened regret. The back of the truck was slammed shut by Ronin, who tossed the empty gas can to the side, and climbed in the driver side of the truck, with Jun in the passenger side. He turned to Jun and commented, “Wherever you go…you can count on me to follow you. Your father would be proud, Jun” Jun looked at the other man with regret and bitterness dripping from his facial expression. “No, Ronin. No he wouldn’t. I am the monster he tried to not become. I am a murderer and a dictator” Ronin started the truck and pulled out of the village as more walkers swarmed the burning main house. “Maybe” he quietly responded “that is what this group needs to stay alive. Like tears on the lotus leaf, we will adapt”. The truck then sped off into the distance, dust kicking up into a cloud and its fate unknown, as the night began to slowly fall upon the land. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the mid season premiere of The Walking Dead Japan: The group struggles to adapt to the open road, as they try to reach the mysterious Shinda.
