Esther – Mana Ashida Kakasumi Ueya - Kirishima Reika Male Prisoner- Hirano Kinari Female Prisoner- Tsugunaga Momoko Summary: As two of the three groups attempt to determine the validity of the Station safe-zone, a new evil looms over them. One that is unlike any they have ever faced…
Episode 316 – Who You Were No More
The group of seven arrived at a small junction with a single train car on the tracks. Ronin approached the car and noticed it was open, with the door slid to the side, and the inside having been lived in. “Seems like someone squatted here recently” he said, while Jun and Kwan looked inside also. “Maybe this is related to the station safe-zone?” asked Jun. Ronin shook his head and pointed to the tracks. “Doubtful. Tracks lead away from the direction we are headed. and the boot prints are heading away from the car” he noted, pointing to several deep boot prints in the gravel nearby. Kwan raised an eyebrow. “Could have been a walker you know, who made those tracks” Shinsuke and Kuma ran up to them, with Shinsuke blurting out, “Ladies, we might have found something useful” he held up a map covered in blood. “Map came from the station in that area, and the blood is a fresh as a virgin’s-” Kuma interrupted with, “It’s a clue” Shinsuke shot him a cheeky look and chuckled to himself. Kwan took the map and saw the blood was indeed tacky and still red. “So the broadcast might be the real deal?” he asked, with Ronin answering: “We should still be careful otherwise. Can’t risk getting caught in a bear-trap we can’t shake out of” They heard shots coming from a nearby house, and saw a child running down the tracks, until she collapsed from exhaustion. Two people, a man and a woman caught up to her and the man kicked the child in the stomach. “Your people should have listened! Now look what happened!” The woman raised her revolver to the child’s head and asked, “Now or later?” with the man grinning and replying, “Now” Ronin aimed his rifle and shot the man in the head, with the woman being shot in the arm by Kuma. Jun ran up to her and promptly shot her in the eye, dropping her. Jae Eun and Dr. Hwang ran up to the girl and picked her up, taking her to the train car to check up on her. “She was heavily abused…several bruised ribs and cuts…” commented Dr. Hwang. The girl awoke from being knocked out, and attempted to crawl away, but Jae Eun caught her and soothingly told her, “We aren’t here to hurt you sweetie. We want to help you…where is your mommy and daddy, hmm?” The girl began to tear up. “The bad men killed them. My mommy was fed to the dead things, and my daddy was shot…” she looked up at Jae Eun and hugged her, bawling her eyes out as she clung tight to her. “Please don’t let me go back to the bad people!! I will be a good girl I promise!!” she begged. Ronin felt the anger build up inside him, and growled, “We won’t…will we guys?” with Jun, Kwan and Kuma shaking their heads. Shinsuke thundered angrily, “We ought to kill every one of those bastards” with Jun grasping the girl’s hand, promising “That is exactly what we are going to do” Ronin hopped out of the car and walked down the tracks, checking the ammo in his pistol and rifle. Jun approached Ronin and grabbed his arm. “You are NOT going in there alone! You would get killed immediately!” He nodded towards Shinsuke and Kuma. “At least let us go with. Kwan can stay with Jae Eun and the doc while we clean them out, alright?” Ronin frowned and looked at the two men behind him. “They aren’t our people, Jun! They don’t have any reason to help” Jun looked down and replied, “They are now…and we have no choice. For that girl’s sake…we have to stop them” Ronin agreed, as the four checked their rifles and went down the tracks, leaving Kwan, Jae Eun and Dr. Hwang in the car. =============================== Takeshi and his group arrived at the other end of the station, only to find walkers feasting on corpses lying all across the tracks. “Wonder who these poor bastards are” pondered Kasune as they began to kill the walkers that noticed them. One was a walker that used to be a woman, with her pregnant belly clearly showing. A gunshot in the sternum was what killed her, and Haruna put her down, noticing the stomach move. She bit her bottom lip and stabbed the belly, stopping the movement. She felt tears well up in her eyes, but she quickly wiped them away, stifling her emotions. One body reached up and grasped at Sung-min, who jumped away in fright. The person gargled “Please…help my people…these raiders have taken our home and our….people. My daughter, Esther , don’t let her…” the man’s eyes glazed over, and the arm fell to the ground. Sung-min noticed a locket around the man’s neck and gently took it off. Inside was a photo of him with a young girl, around 8-10 years old, smiling while posing for the photo. Sung-min bit his lower lip and stuffed the locket in his pocket, putting the man down before standing up and brushing himself off. He took the man’s wallet and stuffed his ID in his pocket, muttering “If we find her, it’s best she knows your face, friend. Takeshi stared at the field of death and corpses, commenting, “These people were shot…like animals running from a hunter. Shot in cold blood…” he clenched his fists and shot Sung-min an angry scowl. “Bastards shot a pregnant woman, Sung-min…” Sung-min cut him off with “This kid is probably dead too” showing the locket to him. Kasune approached them and attempted to calm them down. “LOOK, I understand you are both outraged, but we have to be certain about this” Haruna interjected angrily, “No. They are right. We have to kill these bastards and make them pay. Prevent this from happening ever again to any else” Kasune cricked her neck and asked, “Then what is the plan, huh? Go in there guns blazing?” Takeshi angrily shoved a finger in her face. “You have no CLUE how to handle serious things like this, so don’t you dare criticize our tactics!” Kasune was flabbergasted, and demanded, “Why not?! Because I am a woman I am suddenly stupid?!” Sung-min stood between them and shoved them away. “SHUT THE HELL UP BOTH OF YOU! We have to work together or we end up like these poor bastards. We sneak in there, and anyone who is hostile gets a bullet to the head. It’s that simple. Now, we better take the forest path, as to avoid any undue attention” receiving a nod from both Takeshi and Kasune. Haruna nodded also, but stayed farther away, as if lost in thought. ========================================= The girl clung to Jae Eun tightly, and whispered, “Can you take care of me now, miss?” prompting Jae Eun to smile and hug her back. “I think I can, sweetie. What is your name?” The girl looked at Dr. Hwang with mild concern, replying, “Esther . My daddy named me that…is that doctor lady going to hurt me?” Jae Eun wiped away blood from Esther ’s cheek and said comfortingly, “No honey, she is a good doctor. She will make you feel all better I promise” Dr. Hwang dug around in her medical kit and found a lollipop, handing it immediately to Esther . “There you go sweetheart. This is the best medicine” she said with a comforting smile. Esther too the sweetie and smiled. Outside, Kwan hopped inside the car and gasped, “There is a small herd approaching from the other side of the tracks…they saw me get in here…” Dr. Hwang looked around them and saw that they would get surrounded and cornered within minutes if they tried to run, especially with a child in their company. Jae Eun glanced around the car and found a box labeled “Table Covers” She tore open the box and handed each person a cover. “Walkers don’t attack other walkers, right?” she posed to the group, who all shook their heads. “If we smell like one, we can have them walk past us without us being eaten! We have to try this, or we run away and get overrun” Kwan was about to object, but decided not to. They found a body of a walker nearby and quickly gutted it, with Kwan slathering thick, rancid guts all over his table cloth covered body. Next was Dr. Hwang, who gagged and almost vomited, followed by Esther who clung to Jae Eun tightly. Finally Jae Eun was covered, and as they turned the corner, a massive herd of over 500 walkers was now in front of them, snarling and stumbling forward. The walkers ignored the group and instead kept stumbling towards the other side of the tracks, with the group mixing in with the dead. They kept up a slow pace, as to not draw attention to themselves and instead went slowly along, trying to blend in. Kwan whispered to Jae Eun, “How much longer are we doing this?”, with the latter replying, “Until we reach the other side and can break away unnoticed” ========================================= Jun and his three group members arrived at an embankment, finding the station mostly empty, save for a few people armed with rifles and machetes, when they noticed a man being drug out and forced onto his knees. Another man with a tattooed face walked behind him, shouted something they couldn’t quite understand, and then shot him point blank, causing the body to slump onto the tracks. The man then pointed at two other men and shouted, “Bring out the last four people!” Shinsuke angrily hissed, “They killed almost everyone in the station…I saw we take them now!” Kuma growled, “Not yet”, with Ronin adding, “We don’t know how many are there…so far I only count eleven targets thus far. Possibly more on the other side of the tracks” Jun heard everything they were discussing, deep in thought. “We create a diversion. Draw them out and pick them off from here. We would be able to take out a handful before they start laying down fire. So two people sniping up here, and two people would go down to deal with the rest. Free the last four people and then…” Shinsuke shot Jun a frustrated look. “And then….WHAT? We make our own bakery down there?” “I don’t know” Jun angrily snarled at the wrestler “I am trying to survive and keep everyone alive! I think once we have cleared the station, we can continue our planning from there” Ronin tapped Jun on the shoulder and motioned towards the other side of the station, a huge herd pressed against the large chain link fence trying to get in. Several men ran to the fence, armed with knives and sharpened poles, and began to thin out the herd. Ronin and Kuma took aim, and fired, both dropping a man. The other people along the fence noticed the fallen comrades and began to run back to the station, only to get picked off by the duo. Jun and Shinsuke made their way down the embankment and noticed the fencing in one area now torn open, and quietly slipped inside the station through it. A woman saw the dead men and shouted, “Enforce the fence! We can’t let the dead get in! And deal with whoever shot our guys!” Jun hid behind a concrete barrier, with Shinsuke ducking behind a train. Suddenly Jun felt a cold barrel pressed against his head, and he slowly held his hands up, with a gruff voice behind him commanding, “No funny moves, or you end up like everyone else here. Move” Shinsuke was also caught, and moved to the center of the station as their weapons were taken from them, being forced to get on their knees. The woman, whose pretty face was now covered in dirt and blood, approached the two captured men and held out a hand to one of the nearby men. “What did this one have on him?” she asked, having Jun’s revolver rest against his head after being handed the pistol. She pulled the hammer and asked softly, “Were you the ones who killed my men?” Jun remained silent, with Shinsuke growling, “Do it already you witch” The woman smiled and raised her eyebrow. “You think we are the villains in this case?” Jun glared at her. “You killed all these people and have the gall to ask us that? You can’t murder and loot and claim you are the greater good” The woman cricked her neck. “Maybe not, but is there really any good in this world? Is there a reason to keep your morals and help your fellow man? No. It’s a waste of time, and makes you look weak. and weakness…” she waved her men to open a storage container nearby, which held the four prisoners. The prisoners were put on their knees, with 2 men lining up behind them, rifles drawn. “…weakness is not an option nowadays. You embrace your inner monster, or you die in the mud. But you wouldn’t know that, would you?”
Jun looked the woman in her eyes, rumbling “I embraced my monster a long time ago. I am not the same man I once was, and I let the monster consume me. The old world is dead and gone. What’s left is scraps we all fight for, and the people left can either make a difference, or wallow in the ash and mud” The woman knelt down and took Jun’s chin in her hand. “Do you honestly believe that, or are you trying to mask your fear? What do you believe in, deadman?” Jun smiled slightly and answered, “I don’t know what I believe in anymore, but there is one thing I do know…and that it when our roles are reversed, I won’t hesitate to kill you. And when I do, I won’t ever think of you again” The woman smiled and put the barrel of the gun against Jun’s forehead, and took a deep breath. ================================ Jae Eun, in the crowd of walkers, saw Jun held at gun point, and began to panic, raising her gun, but Dr. Hwang lowered her arm, whispering, “He made that choice…we can’t do anything” Jae Eun began to tear up and cry, with Ronin and Kuma aiming at the woman’s head, fingers ready to pull the trigger. Gunshots rang from the other side of the front of the station, with the woman angrily ordering her men to check it. Shots mowed down more men, as four people moved forward, gunning down everyone in their paths. Jun elbowed the woman in her stomach, with Shinsuke grabbing his guard’s gun, and throwing him aside, kicking him in the face. Ronin and Kuma fired their guns, picking off more men, while Jun wrestled the revolver out of the woman’s hand and shot a man behind her, before forcing her to submit. After a while, all the men guarding the station were dead, with the woman remaining. Jun looked and saw the familiar faces of Takeshi, Kasune, Harune, and Sung-min as they walked up to Jun and Shinsuke, while Ronin and Kuma made their way down the embankment. Jun and Takeshi hugged, while Ronin and Haruna made eye contact, with Ronin hanging his head. Haruna took his chin in her hand, and kissed him softly. She then embraced him, crying over the reunion. Kuma and Shinsuke shook hands, and Sung-min patted Jun on the back, with Jun smiling and patting his in return. Jun and Haruna embraced, with Haruna whimpering, “I thought I lost you forever!” Jun sobbed, replying, “I missed you too mom” Jae Eun saw the meeting, and smiled, crying as the fence separated them from being with each other. The Herd slowly began to move away, with Jae Eun, Dr. Hwang , Kwan, and Esther remaining behind. They made their way to the other side of the station, and took off their gore slathered sheets, with Jun seeing the four approaching them. He ran up and hugged Jae Eun, and then saw Esther , tugging at Jae Eun’s shirt. Jun knelt down and asked warmly, “Is she your new mom, sweetie?”, with Esther nodding. “Are you going to adopt me too?” Esther asked, with Jun smiling and kissing her on the forehead. He looked around and asked, “And…where is Shinji?” Takeshi hung his head. “I don’t think he made it, Jun. It’s a miracle we made it out alive” The four prisoners approached the group, and one, a young man with dyed blonde hair, said, “We thank you for the rescue…the four of us are all that’s left of this outpost. We made this place into a safe zone, and these…raiders…killed everyone except us. A few tried to escape, but they were shot like game animals. Now, the four of us and that girl are all that remain” Jun looked at the four, and offered, “You can join us, you know. We are a hardy bunch, and we look after our own. Consider it at least” The four huddled and began to speak quietly, when Ronin abruptly said, “What about her?”, pointing to the woman. Jun walked up to her and rifled through her pockets, finding an ID badge. “Kakasumi Ueya: Librarian at Tokyo University” He threw the card to the ground and pointed his revolver at her head. “Go ahead” Kakasumi taunted, “Pull the trigger. I am not afraid of death at your hands. After all, you said yourself you would kill me, so why wait?” Jun picked up a knife from a dead raider and tossed it to her. “ I should kill you, but you should do it yourself…if you really do have the balls to do so” He stepped back and kept his gun aimed at her. Kakasumi picked up the knife and while staring at Jun with pure hate, asked “Why not do it yourself? You are the good guy aren’t you?” and plunged the dagger into her stomach, gasping from the pain. She vomited blood, and began to sway, but Jun simply watched as she collapsed, in her final moments drenched in a pool of her own blood. Jun walked up to her and said, “I never claimed to be the good guy, now did I?” as he took the knife and stabbed her in the head. Kwan looked at the ruined station, and asked, “Now where do we go? Everywhere we run to is either infested, destroyed, or run by psychos” One of the prisoners, a woman with an oddly pretty face said softly, “There is a place…deep in the mountains…away from all the death, rot and horrors here that is safe for all. We traded with this community, and were about to evacuate there, but these raiders came, and we ended up being detained. They tortured us, demanding where this place is, but we refused. So many innocents are there, and we can’t have them fall into the wrong hands” Shinsuke raised an eyebrow and questioned, “How can we even trust you?” The woman looked at her feet, and murmured, “Because you risked your lives to save us. We owe you this chance at least, and if you value your lives, you would take it” Kuma looked behind the group, noticing walkers beginning to come towards the station. Jun looked at his group, who all nodded, even Shinsuke and Ronin, the latter of whom replied, “Why not? We can, if we get there, protect them from the dead and the living” Jun turned to the woman. “What is this place called?” The woman smiled and replied: “We call it Nehan…or as the caretakers there call it, The Garden” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the same time, in another area of the world, a man awoke from his sleep, coughing and gasping for air. He looked around him, shocked by the decay of the world he once knew. The man’s medical records lay strewn across the floor as he left his room. The man’s name was Rick Grimes. NEW CAST: Kioko Ueda - Tsugunaga Momoko Miki Hamada – Otsuka Chihiro Arashi Ouchi - Narimiya Hiroki Summary: Jun and his group make their way to The Garden, with nature intervening.
Episode 401 – The Journey
“Come on!” shouted Sung-Min to the others, who piled into the truck as the herd approached them from the other side of the station. The Korean jumped into the driver’s side and started the vehicle and peeled out of the station’s parking lot, speeding towards the mountain path, leaving the herd to feast on the dead bodies of the dead raiders they had wiped out mere minutes before. They drove with a half tank of gasoline, prompting Jun to comment worriedly “I hope this lasts long enough for us to get away from the herd back there. I would rather not have this hunk of junk stall in the middle of nowhere” Sung-Min raised an eyebrow. “You have no faith in my driving skills kid. Besides, I am sure we will make it in time to reach the path…I hope” Jun opened the back-hatch window and asked the leader of the station, Kioko Ueda “Hey, so how exactly do you know where to go without a map huh?” Kioko smiled and replied “I have a great memory. Keep on this road for another two or three miles, then turn right” Ronin clutched his still wounded arm, with Haruna wrapping it with sterile gauze. “Stay still” she scolded, receiving a grunt from the man. “I am fine Haruna. Don’t baby me” Jae Eun chuckled at the remark. “You are in terrible condition Ronin. I think for now you might have to keep the badass attitude down until you are 100% again. Besides, she IS a mother after all” Haruna smiled thankfully at Jae Eun, and patted Ronin’s bandaged arm. “You survived all the things death could throw at you, and yet you are still kicking” she breathed, clearly amazed. Ronin half smiled and retorted “I have been through a lot worse, trust me” The truck turned right, and went through a thick forest, the sun obscured by the branches over them. Takeshi was reading a book he picked up from the train station during the quick scavenge party they initiated before noticing the herd. The book, “Finding Peace & Love” was covered with dirt, and he had to wipe off a thin layer of soot from the pages every time he flipped the page. Shinsuke raised an eyebrow, bluntly asking “So is that like Buddhism or Zen? I never took you for a religious man, Murano” Takeshi looked at the wrestler, grumbling “I’m not. But, if you must pry, I need to keep myself occupied, otherwise I get lost in my mind” Shinsuke grinned. “Whenever I feel depressed, I like to imagine the old days. The cheering crowds, the announcer shouting my name, women throwing themselves at me. Now, I find joy in nostalgia. Something that the dead can’t touch” Takeshi put down the book. “I think I remember watching you fight. You did that shitty finishing move, the Shinsuke Smasher, right?” Shinsuke, pretending to be hurt, commented “It wasn’t THAT shitty…” Takeshi nodded his head, “Yeah” he grunted “It was friend” The truck stopped, and Jun shouted angrily “We may have a problem people!” Kioko poked her head through the hatch and saw what he was referring to: a large, thick oak tree had fallen across the road, blocking the path. “That thing is too heavy for us to move, or push with the truck. We also don’t have the time to cut it either” Sung-Min frustratedly complained. Jun looked at Kioko, pointing a finger at the tree. “Do you know another route?” She nodded slowly. “Yes, but it’s an unused high mountain path. It’s a route that is usually covered in snow, and is exposed to the elements. It’s in a higher elevation compared to The Garden, thus the snow and freezing winds” Jun nodded and thought for a moment, while Kasune added “We aren’t prepared for the cold Jun. Also, the fuel won’t last that long if we take the mountain path…So if we do take the other road, we need supplies” Jun looked at his hands shaking from the stress, and finally proclaimed “We will take the mountain path, but AFTER we find supplies” ============================================== The next few hours were reserved for the group raiding a nearby clothing store, finding the place in shambles. Esther, who was being fitted for a jacket, tugged on Jae Eun’s shirt. “Mom, is Jun your husband?” Jun looked at Jae Eun, then at Esther. “No sweetie, but maybe someday we will be. Hey kiddo, I was meaning to ask you, would you like it if we both adopted you? Would you be okay with that?” Esther toyed with her jacket, before finally replying “Yeah…I guess” Jae Eun shot Jun an amused look. “Guess? I suppose he will have to do then” causing Esther to laugh. Jae Eun picked her up and hugged her. Jun smiled and handed the child a piece of hard candy he found, Esther gasping and gobbling the piece down with glee. Kasune and Kwan found a handful of vehicles, all untouched with their fuel still intact. They siphoned the gas out of the cars and filled the truck, putting the leftover gas in a metal fuel can. They also found a small bit of food and medical supplies, but everything else remotely useful was looted long ago. They then took the mountain path, and after a hour and a half they noticed the air becoming brisk, with Esther shivering as a response to the cold air. Haruna wrapped a blanket around her, and the girl responded by snuggling closer to Haruna, who smiled as she ran her hand through her hair. The truck eventually came to a small, run down barn, decorated with an empty car and several boxes. Jun and Takeshi stepped out and searched the barn, finding it empty. “We should stay here for the night. However it would be smart if we scouted ahead a bit” He looked at Shinsuke and Kasune, who nodded, and went to see if the road ahead was clear while the others settled down. Shinsuke swung his fireaxe in the air, whistling a strange tune. Kasune raised an eyebrow and finally asked “What is that tune? It sounds familiar” Shinsuke stopped swinging his axe and cheerfully answered “My entrance song babe! Haven’t you ever watched me do my entrance…you know…with fireworks and cheering hotties?” Kasune shook her head, with Shinsuke slumping over. “What was the point of being Japanese world wrestling champion if no one even knows about me?” he bemoaned. Kasune help up a palm, and pressed her finger against her lips. She then pointed to an incredible sight: half a dozen walkers frozen in place, with one walker frozen hard against the pavement. The walker tried to stand up, but only succeeded in yanking off half of its face, leaving behind a skull with red muscle tissue. Shinsuke walked up to the walker and stomped down on its skull, cracking it open. The walkers made barely audible growls, and Kasune slipped her finger in the mouth of one. “Are you mad?” Shinsuke yelped “That monster will bite your finger off!” Kasune pulled the finger out and remarked “They are frozen solid…the air here is getting colder and colder, so these walkers must have been frozen within moments” Shinsuke shrugged, and swung his axe at one walker, shearing off the top of its skull. “Easy as a college freshman girl” he whistled, with Kasune shooting him an annoyed look. They then killed the walkers, leaving one alive. “This one will be our indicator if someone is following us. If they kill it, we know they are close” They returned to find Sung-min driving the truck into the barn, with dark clouds swirling overhead, bloated with snow. “It’s going to snow like crazy any minute” commented Haruna, with Takeshi nodding. “We will need to share body heat. Might be too personal, but better that than freezing to death” Jun closed the barn doors, and barred it with a thick oak board. =========================================== That evening, the group huddled around a fire Kuma had built, wrapped in blankets and keeping close to conserve body heat. Ronin rested his head on Haruna’s shoulder, while Esther clung to Jae Eun, shivering slightly. Kasune spoke up “I think for now, we should have a vote as to who will lead us. I think either Jun or Kwan…” Haruna put in “Why not have them both be our leaders? I think Jun is more than capable of keeping us alive, and Kwan has kept his group alive as well. Like a President/vice president thing. What do you think?” Jun nodded, with Kwan smiling thankfully. Kioko and her other friends looked at the group members, with one woman named Miki Hamada commenting “I think Sensei Shoji will appreciate the cohesiveness your group has. So many people thinking about only themselves…” Kioko agreeing with her added “You see, now that the full decay of society has settled in, survivors are beginning to become more…ruthless. More willing to commit crimes they would have never committed” Jun said irritably “Yeah…we know that pretty well already. It’s about survival now, and those who can do it best are the ones we need to fend off. For now, we have to make it, and we have to fight to survive” Kwan crawled into the sleeping bag with Dr. Hwang snuggling next to him, while Shinsuke noted “Storm is getting worse by the hour…going to be hell to dig out of tomorrow, I swear” Ronin stood by the door, looking out from a small hole in the door as the rocky mountain soon became obstructed by a thick sheet of white. Haruna walked up and wrapped her arms around his midsection, whispering “Come sleep with me…for warmth of course” Ronin looked at her and cricked his neck. “You sure you want me to be with you tonight?” Haruna nodded, and kissed him on the cheek. “I wouldn’t want anyone else. Now, come on, before I change my mind” Ronin smiled slightly and followed her, as she slipped into the sleeping bag, inviting him to join her. ================================================== The next morning, Ronin awoke to something wet dripping on his nose. He sleepily snorted, and stood, only to feel a dusting of snow flitter on his hair. He looked up to see the holes in the roof leaking snow. He walked up the stairs to the barn’s loft and looked outside, seeing a sea of white around him. “Shit” he muttered, wiping his mouth. Jun and his group awoke, shivering as they wrapped blankets around themselves. “What’s going on?” sleepily grunted Takeshi. He walked over to the barn doors, and lifted the brace. He then flung open the doors and was greeted with a large wall of solid snow. “Well…” he grumbled irritably “this was unexpected” Haruna heard Kioko gasp, and looked over to see her, Miki and the other man, Arashi, kneeling over the corpse of their fallen 4th comrade. The man was clutching his chest, and his skin was now a pale blue, with a thin layer of frost covering his face. “Maro…” gasped Miki, as she buried her face in Kioko’s shoulder. Haruna walked over and quietly stabbed the lifeless Maro in the head, receiving a thankful, albeit mournful nod from Kioko. Jun and Kwan grabbed a few shovels from the back of the barn and began to dig out of the barn, as Sung-Min and Takeshi checked on the truck, with the later starting the engine. The engine stalled, and an angry Takeshi shouted “Piece of worthless SHIT!!” Jae Eun shot him a harsh look, while covering Esther’s ears. “There is a kid here Murano! Watch it” she scolded. Takeshi hung his head, and nodded. Jun and Kwan eventually became tired, with Shinsuke and Sung-Min taking over, while Jun pulled out a road map. “Okay” he began, pointing at a small piece of road “Here is where we are now. If we continue to drive east for about seventy miles, we will begin to lower our elevation, and get out of this snow” Kwan and Kasune looked at the map, while Dr. Hwang asked “What about our gas? How are we doing with that?” Takeshi checked the gas gage, and replied “We have around ten gallons left. And this is a 20 gallon truck. So…possibly another sixty miles left on this thing. We either have to siphon more gas, or walk the rest of the way” Jae Eun looked at Kioko. “So Kioko, what can you tell us about this Garden?” Kioko looked at Arashi and Miki, and straightened her posture. “It’s a heavenly place…large walls with enough food and supplies to keep a group alive forever. They live in a tucked away part of the countryside, and this was not the only path to it…or at least, not the most dangerous path” Jun blinked. “Are you saying there was a THIRD road we could have taken? And you kept this secret why?” Kioko shrugged. “We didn’t know you. We knew you weren’t raiders or worse, but deep down, altruism is the best tool to use for one’s intended goals” Jae Eun piped up “So why is this cold snow laden path the better path?” Arashi responded “Because the 3rd path leads right into the heart of a walker infested city. If we went that path, we would have been overrun in moments. Honestly, if that giant tree wasn’t blocking the road, it would have been the quickest and safest path” Sung-Min and Shinsuke came in, their faces red from the cold. “We managed to shovel most of the large drifts” huffed Shinsuke “But we have another problem: the roads are too slippery to drive on. And with the mountain road having no railing…” “We would slip right off and crash the truck” finished Sung-Min. Takeshi, who was fixing the truck wiped off his hands and retorted “If we go slowly, we will be fine” Kuma, who had been silent the entire time, asked “And the gas?” Kasune pointed to him. “He’s right. We would run out of gas too quickly. We might make it twenty or thirty miles, but we would be stuck the rest of the way” Jun shook his head. “We can’t take this route…it’s too dangerous, and we would waste too much gas” he ran a hand through his now long hair, while Ronin, who was nursing his wounds, suggested “We take the city path, but we create a large enough distraction so that we can go through without having the dead swarm us, It would be risky as hell, but we could make it work” Shinsuke angrily objected “And you, being the know it all here would be confident EVERYONE would make it out, or only your friends? Cause if you think for one MOMENT I and my friends are expendable, you are gonna regret that!!” Takeshi stormed up to him and growled “You better be sure you know what you are saying, super star. Cause those words might be your goddamn last” Shinsuke stood at full height and rumbled “Old man with tough words. What do you have to threaten me with? A walking stick? Or even more scary, your dentures!! I am shaking from the pure fear!!” Takeshi pulled out his hatchet, and Shinsuke tightened his grip on his fire-axe- “ENOUGH!” Kwan shouted, stepping in between them. “We all need to be on the same page! So back off Shinsuke!” The wrestler stepped back, and Takeshi too walked away, a sour look on his face while Shinsuke fumed in the corner silently. Ronin put his hand on Jun’s shoulder. “We NEED to try that plan. We either freeze to death, or we get eaten. Or we don’t. It’s your call Jun, but be sure you have a plan in place, otherwise it could get very nasty” Haruna added “We also need to know if you and Kwan can come to an agreement, otherwise we waste time arguing” Jun nodded, and with everyone looking at him, he announced: “We are leaving this path, and going through the city. When we get there. We will cause a large enough distraction so draw the walkers away and then we can go through. If anyone has an objection, say it now” He looked around, and no one raised a hand. He then looked at Kwan, and asked “What do you think? You game with this idea?” Kwan nodded, and pursed his lips. “For as perfect as this Garden sounds, the risk would be worth the reward. Lead on Masumoto, we’re right behind you” They packed up their gear, and piled into the truck, carefully pulling out of the barn and then driving down the mountain path, as another snow storm began to brew in the distance. They made it down the mountain plains, and drove through the country, eventually running out of gas a mile or two outside of the city. They then took their gear, and began to journey the road on foot. Eventually, they came across a large church outside of the main city, with Takeshi commenting “A Christian church out here?” Jae Eun squinted and read the sign: “Japan’s 1st Mormon Church. Great, at least now the cultists are gone from this place” she commented, as Esther ran inside. “ESTHER!” called out Jae Eun, who ran after her. A scream ran through her as she saw a walker pinning her against a wall. She grabbed the walker by the hair and stabbed it in the head, blood spraying across her dirty face. Esther clung to her, bawling “I’m sorry mom!! I wanted to help you!!!” Jae Eun knelt down, and kissed her on the forehead. “I know hun, but if you want to help, stay close to daddy or grandma Haruna, okay?” Esther nodded, while Haruna beamed. “I never thought I would hear ‘Grandma Haruna’ in my lifetime” Jun smiled at his mother, and took Esther’s hand as she looked up at him. They went inside, finding only one other walker inside the dilapidated building. Ronin and Sung-Min went upstairs to the bell tower, and looked over the city from where they were at, the tower being high in the air. Ronin, using Kwan’s binoculars looked over the city ruins, now charred from the military napalming it in a vain attempt to contain the illness. He looked at the streets, and before him was a sea of the dead, wandering around aimlessly and filling the streets. Easily hundreds, if not thousands of walkers were heavily sprinkled around the clusters of the burnt husks of buildings that could not be easily run through, let alone driven through. Ronin looked at Sung-Min, and exclaimed worriedly “Well…on the bright side, at least we won’t freeze to death this way” -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: Shinji and his group are introduced to The Garden, where things seem almost heavenly.

NEW CAST: Sensei Shoji – Takenaka Naoto Rokaru- Masahiro Komoto Hua-Ji Liang– Fan Siu Wong Dr. Yoshi- Oizumi Yo Daichi Kodomo - Hosogai Kei Mama- Sawaguchi Yasuko Summary: Shinji and his group are introduced to The Garden, where things seem almost heavenly
Episode 402- The Garden
The sound of birds chirping in the air was almost soothing to Shinji, as he walked with the strange man, his head bald but covered in triangular tattoos. “So how much longer do we have?” he asked, with the man, Hua-Ji, smiling. “Time is no longer a concern, is it not? Besides, we have enough here to make us thankful” Emiko raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, leaves and birds make me thankful yes sir no doubt” Shinji shot her a scornful look, while Gabe adjusted his backpack’s strap. “I dunno about you two, but the area is…heavenly” Leaves fell, with a hint of winter air hanging heavy. “So Hua-Ji” Shinji began “You rescued us without even knowing who we were. Why?” Hua-Ji stopped walking and put a finger on his lips. “A thrush...I didn’t know they were here this late” Gabe leaned in close to Shinji and whispered “This guy is total friggin nuts man” Dr. Moon put down her bags and smiled, bowing to Hua-Ji. “Thank you for saving us, but we just like to know things…” she stopped and noticed Hua-Ji had closed his eyes, taking deep breathes of nippy air “…about our saviors. It’s all we ask for after all” Hua-Ji opened his eyes and sighed. “You are alive because divine fate wished it of you. I ended the lives of those people willingly, and now, you are alive. Does the why matter?” Gabe was about to object, but Shinji slapped a hand over his mouth and cheerfully replied “I suppose not. Please, continue with our journey” They soon arrived at a large wooden gate, adorned with names carved into the wooden pillars. A concrete and stone wall surrounded the rest of the area, but the sound of life soon carried through the gate. Hua-Ji whistled, and a man peered over the overhead ledge. “Hey, what took you so-” he noticed the four other pilgrims, and asked “Are they to join our community?” Hua-Ji nodded, and the man walked off. The gate creaked open, and the four of them saw a mirage out of something they could only dream of. The area inside had 12 large stone and brick buildings, with large pagoda style roofs topping them. Several smaller huts and buildings were dotted around, with water pumps, fields of rice and vegetables being harvested, wheat, buckwheat and barley also being cut, and lastly a large statue of the Buddha, his hand raised flat in the center. Hua-Ji grinned and told his guests: “Welcome to The Garden, my new friends” Shinji and his friends gawked at the sight around them. Children played, and woman chatted with each other as if unaware of the horrors outside the gates. Shinji saw a man flying a kite with his family, and saw dogs running around. Shinji noticed an older man wave him into a small building, prompting them to follow him. The inside was dimly light, with candles lighting the table before them. Incense filled their nostrils, and Shinji felt for the first time in a long time, safe. They sat down, and the man placed a metal tray before them, four cups brimming with tea waiting to be drunk on it. He smiled and extended a hand, with Shinji taking a cup and turning it in his hand, causing the man to raise an eyebrow. “You know of the proper traditions? Impressive” he commented, making Gabe bite his lip in confusion. “My mother” explained Shinji “was familiar with the ancient Japanese traditions, and thus I was taught to honor them. Especially in front of elders such as yourself, mister…” his voiced trailed, and the man nodded only once, his warm inviting smile never fading. “My name is Shoji Katagiri, but everyone here insists I be called Sensei Shoji. Either name works well enough for me. And your names?” Shinji pointed to his friends. “Emiko Yamaguchi, Gabe Holoman, and Dr. Ga-In Moon” He then motioned to himself. “And my name is Shinji Akai” Sensei Shoji nodded to each person, and reclined in his small squat chair. “You don’t look like raiders here to pillage our humble settlement otherwise…Hua-Ji would have gunned you down. You see, I abhor violence. Being raised Buddhist tends to make one prefer peace, but in these times, sometimes violence is the solution…” He pursed his lips and shook his head “No matter how much it vexes me” Gabe looked above him, noticing the detailed carvings that adorned the ceiling over them. “Excuse me, Sensei” he asked “But this place wasn’t built in 2 months…what was this originally?” Sensei Shoji cleared his throat and took a long sip of tea. “This…haven was originally a place for the emperor and his family to vacation in. The buildings were meant to house his relatives and extended family, while the rest was for military and personal security. It was empty when I found this place 2 months ago. We planted crops we found from an agricultural lab, and discovered it could…” he snapped his fingers, causing light bulbs to click to life “…still remain operational. We had all the amenities anyone could ask for: food, shelter, medicine, walls thick enough to stop any outside threat, and the Buddha’s guidance leading us. I am certain you have more questions than I have answers for, but for now, I think you all deserve a well balanced meal, followed with peaceful rest” He stood and waved them towards him as he opened the door. As he led them to the main building in the center of the enclosure, Shinji noticed how vast it was, seeing a pond in the distance, and trees now shedding their orange leaves. A child was chasing a puppy, when the dog tried to climb up Emiko’s leg. She picked up the puppy and the child walked up to her. “That’s Jimjim ma’am” he said, while Emiko laughed for the first time in ages as the dog licked her face. She handed the dog to the child, who smiled as he carried the fluffy dog away. Sensei Shoji opened the door, revealing a large dining hall, the thick red table covered in food and drink of many kinds. “Sit, my new friends! Sit, and enjoy a meal on my behalf” The four of them sat, salivating over the heaping plates of steamed vegetables, rice, fish and chicken, all looking as good as they smelled. Shinji turned and looked at Sensei Shoji, asking “You are just giving us food…no questions asked?” Hua-Ji joined them, and answered “This bounty is merely a percent of what we have here. Besides the food we scavenged, we also have our freshly grown food here. Eat, please” Gabe was the first to do so, taking a chicken leg and a large pile of rice, stuffing them in his mouth as he sipped the red drink in his glass. “Strawberry cocktail?” he rudely gasped with his mouth full of food. “Yes” Sensei Shoji said with a jolly tone “It is our version of wine, since the Buddha forbids alcohol” He looked towards the door, seeing the townspeople entering the building, taking seats and serving their neighbors before themselves. Dr. Moon looked at this ritual and asked “Why are they serving them first?” One woman, a younger girl with her hair tied in pigtails replied “Because when we help our neighbors, we end up helping ourselves. The many before the one” Emiko picked up a steamed cauliflower stalk and sprinkled salt on it, taking a large bite. A man sat beside Sensei Shoji, and looked at the four newcomers, loudly asking him “Who are these vagabonds?” Shinji looked him in the eyes and replied “We were rescued by Hua-Ji, and now Sensei Shoji invited us-” The man interrupted him with “I am aware of what you are doing here, but why is the question I am asking fool. Maybe you should let your elders speak before talking nonsense, KID” Shinji felt anger boiling in his veins, but Sensei Shoji interjected with: “I want them to be here, Rokaru. I know you are being protective, but we treat all guest with respect and trust until…they don’t deserve it. Now please, eat peacefully with us. I allow conversation here to flow freely, unless it is tinged with ill intent” Shinji noticed the townspeople beside him chatting and laughing, and asked the elder “So are they aware of the threat outside at all?” Sensei Shoji hung his head slightly. “You are referring to the dead that roam Japan. Yes…everyone here is more than aware of the threat they pose. We were here after the JSDF left us by ourselves. We knew the military would napalm the cities even if they were evacuated. So when we found this place, we made a few modifications, and began to make a life for ourselves here. We originally had a group of seventy one. Now, we are numbering, including you four, one hundred and twenty three” Gabe choked on his food. “One hundred twenty three?! How the hell have you not been run out or worse?” Rokaru snipped irritably “By first of all not blindly letting in dangerous people, and by being vigilant” Shinji nodded and took a sip of tea. “How many have you lost?” Sensei Shoji’s face now fell completely, with the table becoming silent. “Three. One to the dead while on a run, another from medical complications caused by age…and the last by exile” Emiko perked up. “Exiled? Why?” she inquired. Rokaru flinched, and answered “He was a volatile man, who freely used violence to get whatever he wanted, and would intimidate everyone around him. I threw him out myself….something you should keep in mind while you here” ================================== That night, they were escorted to a four story building, with their living quarters on the third floor. Gabe and Shinji were in one room, while Emiko and Dr. Moon were in another nearby. Sensei Shoji handed each person a key. “You will, if you choose to stay, be assigned work tomorrow. Do not be alarmed, I am not a slave driver. But you must be productive to the community. If you need anything, let me know” He closed the door, and they soon fell asleep, the food and exhaustion taking them. The next morning, they arrived at Sensei Shoji’s office, and he gave them their jobs: Gabe was going to harvest the wheat and grain fields, Emiko was to become a wall guard, Dr. Moon was to work with the children in the early learning classes, and Shinji was to become an aide to Sensei Shoji himself. “I have more than enough positions available. So take time getting to know the people you will work with, and try to enjoy the simple things in life, no matter how small” Shinji stayed behind as the three other people filtered out of the room. Shoji handed him a clipboard, and remarked “Read this, and remember it” Shinji looked over the contents, and said somewhat agitated “These are the people who live here” Sensei Shoji nodded and laughed. “If you are to help me, you must know the people here, and know when and how to assist them. Take your time, and meet the doctor, the quartermaster, and the supply manager. You might want to avoid Rokaru, the chief of security here…for your sake” Shinji nodded and started to leave, with the elder exclaiming “Oh, and one last thing, Mr. Akai” Shinji stopped and looked at Shoji, who continued “You must hang up your Samurai armor and Katana. Weapons are allowed, but only on certain people. You will be issued a pistol, but nothing more” He pointed to a mannequin with a pegboard slab behind it. Shinji bowed and put up his armor, hanging Kuroi on the pegs. He first went to the infirmary, manned by a tired looking man dressed in impeccably bleached scrubs. Shinji knocked on the door, with the doctor whipping around, gasping loudly. “Oh god, don’t scare me like that! Who the goddamn hell are you anyways?” Shinji raised an eyebrow but soldiered on, asking “Dr. Yoshi I assume?” The doctor stared at Shinji, before asking “You are part of the new group huh? I guess that means you are here for a checkup?” Shinji shook his head, with Dr. Yoshi blurting out “Then why are you here? I am not fond of gawking at people you know” Shinji smiled and replied “Sensei Shoji told me I should get to know the three main people here, with you being the first on the list” Dr. Yoshi sighed. “Oh” he mumbled, shuffling through his medical instruments, with Shinji looking at him with growing irritation. “I apologize, but I was unaware of Sensei giving such orders. Still, if he trusts you enough to make you a member here, I welcome you also. Just don’t be a douche bag here, and I won’t have to stick a needle in your ass, yeah?” Shinji nodded and bowed, with the good doctor again shuffling through his tools mumbling to himself. Next he went to the quartermaster’s room, the entire place brimming with rifles, pistols, spears, bows and arrows, crossbows, pikes, axes and more, with a young man cleaning one pistol. Shinji cleared his throat and asked “Excuse me, Daichi Kodomo…?” The man stood and grinned as if he were flirting with Shinji, his flamboyant stature accented by his coifed blonde hair. “A new member of our humble home, and a cutie as well. God, I hope you are single” Shinji was taken aback and stammered “Umm…yes I am…”Daichi leaned in closer. “Then maybe you should come here more often…no?” Shinji loudly cleared his throat, and Daichi laughed softly as he said “I was sent here to meet you, on Sensei Shoji’s orders. You are the quartermaster?” Daichi nodded and picked up a Beretta. “I am. I know a hell of a lot about weapons and armor…if you need anything, let me know. If you WANT anything, let me know also, alright hun?” Shinji nodded and turned to leave, noticing from a mirror on the wall Daichi was watching his bottom as he left. Finally, Shinji entered the former greenhouse, now converted into a supply warehouse. A small woman was attempting to push a box on top of another, but was too short to reach it. Shinji walked up to her and pushed the box on top of the other. She turned and demanded “Now what do you-OH…you aren’t Rokaru…” she blushed and straightened her stature. “My name is Mamacho, or Mama as everyone calls me. Now, since I don’t recognize you, you must be one of the new people?” Shinji nodded, letting the clipboard rest on the table. “Yeah…Shoji-” “Sensei Shoji made you go meet the three of us, didn’t he?” Shinji again nodded, with Mama chuckling. “He says that to everyone new. He likes to see if you act kind and courteous when asked. Seems like he already pegged you as a worthy person to have here” Shinji bowed and turned to leave, when Mama handed him three Dango balls on a stick (Dango are mocha rice balls glazed with rice syrup). Shinji’s eyes widened, and he gasped “What is this for?” Mama smiled and replied lovingly “Because you are a sweet boy. Now run along, I might make more if you ask nicely” Shinji sat on a barrel and chewed on his Dango balls, the brown syrup dripping off his chin. He smiled and waved at a family walking their dog, when suddenly he heard a blood curdling scream coming from the gate. He chomped down on the last ball and ran to the gate, with Emiko, decked out in riot gear, meeting him. “What is going on??!” demanded Shinji as Rokaru also ran up to Emiko. Emiko shook her head and opened the gate to reveal a man fighting off three walkers, one of which was snapping at his face. Emiko bolted forward and stabbed the one walker in the head, while the other two diverted their attention away from the man, and onto Emiko. Emiko raised her gun to kill one when Rokaru shouted “NO! You will attract more!” An arrow from the wall pierced the skull of a second walker, and the last walker soon fell to the spear tip Emiko wielded. She yanked the spear tip out of the walker’s head, and the man stood, his knees shaking. “Thank you miss…” he stammered. He then grabbed her and threw her to the ground, trying to stab her for her gun. Rokaru ran up and grabbed the man by the neck and, wrapping his arm under his chin, yanked to the left sharply, causing a loud snap. The man fell to the ground, with Rokaru stabbing the man in the temple afterwards. Shinji helped Emiko up, with Emiko shakily telling Rokaru “T-thank you” Rokaru snorted and growled “You should have never allowed that to happen woman. You are a fighter, yet you allowed this filth to try and kill you? Be more careful!” Shinji walked up to Rokaru and clocked him in the jaw, sending the other man flying. “YOU DON’T GET TO TALK TO HER LIKE THAT!!” Shinji rumbled. As Rokaru stood and pointed his spear at Shinji, Sensei Shoji’s voice calmly asked them “What is causing this confrontation? Shinji, Rokaru, back away from one another” Rokaru sputtered “But he hit me!!” Shoji walked up and got directly in his face, rumbling “You need to be less critical. You acted like a bastard, and he reacted. Treat him and his group with more respect next time” He turned to Shinji and barked “And as for you, don’t react with violence, but instead prove those who are insulting you wrong” He looked at a simpering Emiko and soothingly exclaimed “Take the rest of the day off my dear. We will find a replacement for the rest of your shift” He then turned and walked away, a fuming Rokaru following him. ================================================ That night, Gabe and Shinji were paid a visit by Emiko, who hugged Shinji. “Thank you for standing up to that jerk…I appreciate it” Shinji smiled. “Don’t mention it” he cooed. Emiko plopped on Shinji’s bed, with Gabe asking “So your day was rough, I take it?” Shinji nodded, with Emiko replying “I think, if we are going to stay, it will be very rough from here on out. Especially with that douche bag Rokaru” Shinji crawled into bed, with Emiko standing up to allow him to get comfortable. “I think” Shinji muttered “You may be right. Still, we can talk about this in the morning” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: Jun and co’s journey continues, finding haunting reminders of the now dead past.

NEW CAST: Kioko Ueda - Tsugunaga Momoko Miki Hamada – Otsuka Chihiro Arashi Ouchi - Narimiya Hiroki Man asking for supplies- Kataoka Naoto
SUMMARY: Jun and co’s journey continues, finding haunting reminders of the now dead past.
Episode 403- Cold Winter Sun
Ronin and Sung-min ran down to the congregation room, with Jun asking “So what did you two see up there?” “A huge, thick herd of the dead blocking the main road” Ronin explained “We would either have to sidestep them, or go around, and we don’t have enough supplies to do either option” Kwan rubbed his ever growing hair out of frustration. “So we’re screwed, huh?” he grumbled angrily. Sung-Min suddenly remembered something he saw out of the corner of his eye. “The annual orange blossom festival” he breathed. Everyone looked at him with a confused look. “The orange blossom festival is a yearly event in this part of Japan, and they usually celebrate the proceedings with fireworks…AND I SAW A TRUCK FILLED WITH THEM” Ronin’s eyes brightened. “A distraction…” Jun grinned and grabbed his rifle from a nearby pew. “We blow the truck, and that will draw the majority of the herd away. Then we make a break for it. It’s risky, but doable” Ronin nodded. Takeshi approached Jun, commenting “We should set up a sniper to fire on the truck’s cargo. Having it explode will require a perfect shot” Kwan raised his hand. “I will take the shot. I was a sniper before becoming an officer. I will need a good vantage point. Maybe the office next to this church?” “Yeah, it would be the best spot” Ronin remarked. Jun ordered “Then let’s get this over with” Kwan and Sung-Min went to the officer next door, clearing out the dead and finding the perfect floor to take aim at the truck with, while Jun and Takeshi organized their group so that when the route was cleared, they could simply run for it. Ronin went ahead, using a walkie-talkie to tell Jun and the others in case the herd changed directions, hunkering down behind a bush. Sung-Min eventually found the perfect floor, with Kwan positioning himself to take the shot at the brightly colored truck, whose thin wooden crates were strapped in the truck bed. Sung-Min whispered “We need to take no more than three shots, otherwise they follow the sound of the gunfire” Kwan shook his head. “No need” he uttered, pulling out a long metallic tube he screwed onto the barrel of the rifle. “Where did you get a goddamn silencer?” Sung-Min asked, baffled. Kwan smiled sweetly. “Russians always drop the best toys when they die” he replied cheerfully. He then opened the window, as a cold breeze flew in, stirring up papers and other loose bric-a-brac. He took aim, avoiding the heads of any walkers that passed by, and pulled the trigger. A sharp hiss followed by a dull thunk was heard, as the shot harmlessly hit the boxes. “Shit” Kwan hissed, as he took aim again. He fired, but he instead struck a walker that came out of nowhere. “Come on, come on!” Sung-Min chanted frantically. Kwan finally aimed for a third time, and fired. The bullet flew through the air and struck the boxes, as a spark caused the fireworks to light. There was a brief pause, with Kwan and Sung-Min looking at each other confusedly, followed by a violent, colorful explosion. The bangs, pops and booms were heard across the town, and the walkers, as predicted, followed the commotion. The truck was now enveloped in a shroud of brightly colored explosions, as the walkers herded around the noise, their faces burning off and exposing pale yellow bone. Jun gave the order, and his group ran for it. Esther tripped, and Takeshi grabbed her, carrying her as they bolted for the other side of the city. Kwan and Sung-Min left the building, cutting down a single lingering walker as they hurried to catch up with the group. Kwan caught a glimpse of a military truck and gasped “It might have ammo!” with Sung-Min huffing “It’s not worth it, come on!” They ran, and began to trail the group. Ronin left his position and met with the group, as they now were reaching the edges of the city. The truck still was popping off explosions, as Kwan and Sung-Min kept trailing Jun and his people, when suddenly, the explosions stopped, as the truck died down, and was now a glowing husk. The walkers turned, leaving the truck as they began to wander around, with a large chunk of the herd noticing the group as they were leaving. Jun’s eyes grew large. “COME ON!” he shouted “We need to hurry!” The people ran as fast as they could, exhaustion quickly overtaking them. Suddenly, a truck pulled up, with a man hopping out, his pistol aimed at the group. “Drop your guns, and leave your goods!” he commanded. Jun responded by shooting him in the arm, taking his pistol as he writhed on the ground in pain. The group piled into the truck, with Ronin, Kwan and Sung-min catching up to him. “What about this guy?” asked Kwan as he climbed into the truck. Takeshi darkly replied “Another distraction for the dead. Now come on!” The truck peeled away, as the walkers surrounded and tore open the robber, the man screaming as his very flesh was being torn away from the bones. ================================================= The truck, fortunately for them, had a full tank, and they managed to get another fifty miles before the truck petered out, grinding to a halt in the woods. Jun and Kioko pulled out the map, with the latter saying “We are now…twenty miles from The Garden. We take this road north east for another eighteen miles, and we SHOULD be able to reach it in no time. Trust me, it’s harder to find than one would expect” Jun nodded, as he looked at his group. “How much food and water do we have?” Haruna shook an old vinegar jug that once was full of water. “We are running out of water fast. As for food, we have only a handful of provisions left” Kasune interjected with “If we ration our remaining food, we will last another day. Two days tops” Takeshi leaned against the truck. “Maybe we can hunt for a while” he suggested “and if we hurry, we could easily do twenty miles in a day. Rest for tonight, and walk all day tomorrow” Kuma raised an eyebrow. “And then what?” he asked. “Then, a scout will find us, and I will vouch for you. Sensei Shoji always has scouts looking for additional supplies, weapons and people, so chances are they will find me really soon” Jae Eun stepped forward, her face one full of distrust. “Me? You meant to say WE, right?” she asked, as Kioko backed away. “They know me, so they would trust-” “And” Jae Eun interrupted “What’s to say you won’t turn on us? Claim we used you, or some other bullshit to save your sorry skin, hmm?” Kioko felt a tree touch her back, and she squeaked “I swear I am not leading you astray! Please, I want to help your people as much as I want to help mine. PLEASE BELIEVE ME!!” Jae Eun glared at her, with Jun and Dr. Hwang slowly walking up to her. “You better hope I do. Because let me make one thing perfectly clear: if you end up hurting my boyfriend, my DAUGHTER, or anyone here, I will not hesitate to gut you and leave you for the dead. Got it?” Kioko nodded, her arms raised to shield herself. Miki stepped in front of Kioko and yelped “We are not the bad guys here! Please, we swore to help you!” Jun nodded, and replied calmly “We are being careful. People nowadays are in it for themselves as you said, and will stab anyone they need to in the back. So you’ll forgive our cautionary attitudes” Kioko brushed herself off and shakily joked “At least you guys aren’t shy” Esther tugged at Jun’s hand, complaining “Dad, I’m cold” Jun took off his jacket and wrapped it around her, smiling as she snuggled into the thick fabric of the coat. They found a tarp and used it as a makeshift blanket as they huddled together to sleep. Kuma and Takeshi stood guard, keeping a close eye on the roads and surrounding woods. Kuma tapped Takeshi on the shoulder and whispered “Shadow over there” pointing to a black mass hiding behind a tree. Takeshi nodded, and pretended to ignore the person, as he lit a cigarette. He took a puff, watching the person slowly creep around the tree and trying to not make too much noise. “If you want to stay alive, I would suggest” Takeshi loudly told the person “not being a sneaky asshole and coming out with your hands up. NOW” The person froze, and slowly stepped out of the darkness, the moonlight now shining in his face. He was dirty, with his clothes now ratty and torn, as he held up his hands. “Please” the man pleaded “I am just a lowly man needing food and shelter. I saw your group and thought I could bargain” Takeshi shrugged. “We aren’t really brimming with food or water, so you’re barking up the wrong tree friend. Now, since you have been so polite, if you turn away now, I won’t blow your head off. Sound fair?” The man seemed hurt, and begged “Please! I am not a bad person! I don’t even have a gun! I just have this dagger I stole from a store. Please reconsider my request!” Jun had now awoken, and rubbed his eyes, seeing the man begging. He grabbed his father’s revolver and aimed it at him, demanding “Get on your knees!!” The man did as he was told, folding his hands behind his head. “Please…I am not a bad guy…PLEASE!!” he wailed. Takeshi stomped up and aimed his rifle at the man’s forehead. “SHUT. YOUR. MOUTH!” he growled, as the man began to cry even harder. “Takeshi back off!” ordered Jun, as Takeshi shook with rage. “Oh god oh god oh god oh god” the man muttered, as he felt the cold barrel touching his forehead. “You want to cry like the raider BITCH you are! You want to rob us and take advantage of us??!!” Takeshi shouted, his face now red and twisted. Jun gripped his revolver and, much to his dismay, pointed the gun at Takeshi. “Drop it Takeshi…DROP IT!” he bellowed, the rest of the group now awake and horrified by the scene. Takeshi screamed and shot the ground next to the man. “Get the hell out of here” he grunted, with the man collecting his composure and running into the woods, giving Jun a thankful glance as he vanished into the woods. Jun pulled Takeshi aside and demanded “What the hell was that shit? Do you really want to murder people that badly, or it is just me?” Takeshi hung his head and sighed. “Jun, you don’t know what happened to me and Haruna, after the Shinda sunk. We were alone, and some punks wanted to kill me and rape her, just because. I slaughtered those stupid pricks like the trash they were. I don’t take chances, and neither should you. It’s a miracle I am alive, but I know how to survive the world now. There is no going back to who you used to be, Jun. It’s never going to get better, but only worse from here on out” Jun sniffed indignantly. “Bullshit Murano. You have to adapt, yes, but killing an innocent man?” Takeshi laughed “Innocent?! No one now is ‘Innocent’. All the good people, all the decent folks we knew and loved are gone. Now the land is full of murderers, villains and tyrants, and god know he probably had blood on his hands” Jun shrugged. “And we don’t? Takeshi, burying your grief in murderous, cold rage is not helping anything. Where would you draw the line? Would you kill Kwan’s group? How about Sung-Min? How about Kasune? Do you even have a limit to your ruthlessness?” The older man bit his lip and replied, a hint of anger in his tone “I know what I am doing Jun. Maybe you should do your job and leave me to mine” He turned away from Jun, who asked “You said the land is full of murderers, villains and tyrants. Are we in that category?” Takeshi shook his head. “No. You are the good guys” Jun put a friendly hand on Takeshi’s shoulder. “WE are the good guys. You are still the man I knew deep down in that heart of yours” Murano smiled sadly and muttered “I don’t know about that anymore, these days, but thanks for the sentiment” They returned to the group, who looked at an embarrassed Takeshi with shock. “Leave him be, everyone” Jun ordered, as Ronin saddled a backpack he took from Haruna. “We will be ready to leave in about an hour, maybe less” he said, as Jun picked up a scoped hunting rifle from the truck bed. The group packed, with Esther asking if she can go play with in the field nearby, which Jae Eun approved of. She watched the girl pick late-blooming flowers, and twirl around, giggling for the first time. Jae Eun felt a flutter in her stomach, and suddenly felt a deep love for her adopted daughter, as she waved at Esther. Dr. Hwang sat next to her on a fallen log and commented “Playing in a field as the sun rises. Something I would have never expected a child to do again” Jae Eun smiled and replied “I miss the old days. I would always play outside, unless it was raining, then it was Nintendo time for me. My parents…they are probably gone…” Dr. Hwang softened the mood by asking “So who else do you have in your family?” Jae Eun kept watching Esther. “A sister, named Eunice, and an older brother in America, Glenn. I always made fun of him being unable to speak Korean, but we always had a good time when we were together” Dr. Hwang grinned. “Glenn sounds like a lucky man to have you as a relative. I hope, for his sake, he lives through this” Jae Eun nodded, a single tear rolling down her check. “Me too…he was always the sweetest boy to be around” Esther ran up and handed Jae Eun and Dr. Hwang a bundle of yellow and dark blue flowers. “For me?” Dr. Hwang gasped playfully, with Esther nodding. Esther nodded, with her mother rubbing her hair. “That was so sweet of you honey!” Esther jumped into her adopted mother’s lap, and buried her face into her shoulder. “Mom, look at the sun” The three looked, and a bright yellow beam of light spread across the field, with the fog now lifting, the dew glistening as each beam of sunlight sparkled. Jae Eun kissed Esther on the forehead, and whispered “It’s beautiful sweetie” Esther ran to give Haruna and Kasune flowers, as Dr. Hwang exclaimed “My ex boyfriend, Jia Huo, wasn’t ready for this world. He was the original fourth member of our group, after recruiting Shinsuke and Kuma. He was terrified of everything, and one night…he overdosed on painkillers. I was the one to put him down. I still remember his last words: I don’t want to be torn apart like an animal. Kwan and I are happy…I love him, but I don’t think he will ever be like Jia” Jae Eun took a deep breath, and asked “Why are you telling me these things?” Dr. Hwang held back tears of her own and replied “Because you and Jun need to hang on to each other like it’s the end of the world…especially since it is the end of the world. He is a good man, and women need men like that. But you’re already as strong as he is” Jae Eun took Dr. Hwang’s hand in hers, and smiled. “Hey!” shouted Sung-Min “We are ready to go!” The two women nodded to each other and walked away from the beautiful scene before them. =========================================== The group traveled the entire day, as the sun beat down on them, making the nippy air warmer. Using Kioko’s map, they traveled eighteen miles, taking short 15 minute breaks every two hours. Eventually, they came across a small gas station, now long since abandoned and occupied by a single walker. Shinsuke killed the walker, and noticed the woods in the distance. “You said this place was in a forest, right? Is it that exact forest?” Arashi nodded, and the group settled inside the gas station, finding next to nothing useful, save for a bottle of water and a single can of steamed carrots. They shared the water, and they each ate a carrot, with Esther drinking the sweet leftover juice. She stopped and handed the juice to Takeshi. “Here you go Mr. Murano” she offered. Takeshi was stunned. “Thank you sweetie, but that’s all yours. You need it to grow big and strong” She smiled and still held out the can. He took it, bowed his head and took a single sip. “MMM! Thank you!” he said happily, as she shared the juice with everyone, even Shinsuke. The group partook of the juice, as they all settled in for the evening. “You know” suggested Ronin “We should investigate the village down the way for supplies. Even though we have two miles to walk, it would be best to have a small cache of food and water, assuming it’s not been looted” Shinsuke laughed “I would say something extremely derogative, but there’s a kid here, so all I will say is you are chasing dreams. That town was one of the hotspots for the outbreak, so god knows it’s been looted clean. Nothing but diet drinks and cans of food that tastes like ass” “Still” Ronin interjected “It’s worth a look. And hey, it never hurts having more supplies, am I wrong?” Jun and Kwan looked at each other, with Jun replying “Kwan makes the call this time. I can’t be a dictator” Kwan straightened his posture and said “We will do it in the morning. Two teams, one having Jun, Kuma, Takeshi and Kasune. The other having Shinsuke, Arashi, Miki and myself. Haruna, Jae Eun, Sung-Ming, Esther, Dr. Hwang and Ronin will stay behind with Kioko” Ronin was indignant. “Why am I left behind?” “Because you are wounded” replied Haruna “And you can stay behind and make sure we are safe” She then winked at him. Jun pursed his lips. “Then it’s settled. When we wake up, we go on a two team supply run. And then, we go to The Garden, and start living” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: Shinji and his group meet new Garden members, both friendly and not, as the life of comfort becomes a reality.

Summary: Shinji and his group meet new Garden members, both friendly and not, as the life of comfort becomes a reality.
Episode 404- Distractions
Shinji’s bed was covered with thick sheets, with the rest of his room being small but comfortable to live in. He had a desk, a card table, an armor rack with the leftover samurai armor, and a shelf covered with books and DVDs that went with the small 20 inch TV he had on the wall. He was curled up in bed when he heard a shrill scream coming from outside the gate. He shot out of bed, grabbed Kuroi and ran outside. Several other men armed with spears, guns and knives ran to the gate too, as Rokaru met Shinji by the gate. “What the hell was that?” Shinji demanded, with Rokaru looking at the gate with worry, the sounds of walkers outside being killed alongside shouts and yelps. “Our supply search team came back, bringing with them a small horde. I can’t let them in until they eliminate the dead” Shinji angrily shouted “But they will be dead by then!!” He then ran up the wall support ladder and looked at the scene: 4 people, 3 of which were armed with knives and one armed with a red bladed sword were cutting down walkers, when suddenly one was bitten in the arm. Shinji jumped over the wall and cut down two walkers as he recovered. Another four approached him, when the person wielding the red sword sliced the top of one walker’s head clean off. Another was stabbed in the eye with Kuroi, and the rest were hacked to death with whatever the remaining members had as weapons. Shinji then turned his attention to the man whose arm was bitten. He saw a bottle of vodka in the box of supplies the team had scavenged, and quickly wiped off Kuroi, dosing the blade with the alcohol. He then pointed to one woman and shouted “Grab his arm and pull! I need to cut his arm off with one clean cut or he will turn!!” The woman nodded and grabbed the man’s right arm, the man screaming in pain the entire time. Then, with one clean strike, he clove the arm clean off, and screamed “Open the goddamn gates Rokaru!! He is bleeding out!!” The gates swung open, and the group carried the wounded man inside. Emiko and Gabe came running, seeing the gathering crowd observe the incoming survivors. Dr. Yoshi ran outside the infirmary, his arms full of medical supplies. “What is the issue? Who was-” he saw the man whose arm was cut off and gasped “OH god, Eiji!! Get him inside now!!” They rushed the man inside while the woman with the sword wiped off her blade. She pulled down her hood to reveal a strange, yet attractive face, with her hair dyed a fiery red. “You were foolish for trying to help” she commented, her voice deep yet alluring. Shinji frowned. “I saved your lives. And cut the bitten arm off Eiji. I would think a thank you is in order actually” The woman smiled and noticed his sword. “A black Katana? Unusual weapon for an unusual time. You probably noticed my blade as well” she unsheathed her sword, a Chinese Han Jian or battle sword with a straight blade. The color of the metal was deep red, with an inscription across the blade. “I call it Honor” the woman said, smiling as Shinji examined her blade “And you can call me Tomoko Ishinoshi, the main supply runner for The Garden. You are a stranger to me, as is the woman guarding the wall and the man picking tomatoes” Shinji sighed. “We were rescued 4 days ago. Sensei Shoji gave us a home, and now we work for him” Tomoko laughed at him. “Working for him is not the goal. Working WITH him is. You’ll catch on soon enough” Their attention turned to Sensei Shoji who walked up to and embraced an exuberant Tomoko. “My girl, you are alive with a bounty to be proud of. Still, Eiji was bitten. I only hope he makes it out of this alive” Tomoko looked at Shinji and replied proudly “He jumped over the wall, and saved us. He then cut off Eiji’s arm, saving him from certain death” Shoji blinked with shock. “He…did? That’s…” Shinji slightly winced, expecting Shoji to yell at him because he jumped the wall “…the best news I have heard today. He thought fast, and saved you all with no thought reserved for himself. I admire that” Tomoko winked at Shinji. “I do too. He is a nice kid. Handsome too. I bet Daichi was all over him” Shinji swallowed hard and nodded. “Well anyways, you two please come with me, while we talk about the mission briefing” Shoji remarked, gesturing towards his office. =================================================== “How do things look out there now?” Shoji began, as he poured Tomoko a cup of barley tea. “Things are getting worse. Most of the cities that weren’t napalmed are festering pits full of the dead. But as of late, I noticed an increased Chinese and Korean presence along the ocean. Most of the remaining raiders are fighting each other for scraps, and any innocent people caught in the crosshairs are killed” Shoji raised an eyebrow. “Chinese and Korean? I am not surprised. With the JSDF and government now long dead, the island is free for the taking. Who is currently the strongest of the two sides?” Tomoko sipped her tea. “The Koreans have the better weapons, while the Chinese have more men. The Chinese lost their leader during a night assault, and now they are disorganized. The Koreans are another story due to them having organized numbers, as if someone with military intelligence is leading them. From what we gathered, the Korean groups in the mainland are led by a man named Agma or something similar. Still, this is all speculation” Shinji raised a hand, with Tomoko and Shoji acknowledging him. “How many are there, and how long before they find us?” Tomoko shook her head, replying “I don’t know. Some numbers I have heard range between fifty and one hundred fifty. As for when they will find us…they won’t” Shinji stared at Tomoko in disbelief. “Once they realize the cities don’t have anything left to scavenge, they will spiral outwards and begin to look for any settlements left. It will be a massacre” Tomoko smiled sweetly at the worried Shinji. “What would you suggest we do? We don’t have the manpower to fight a war if that is what you are thinking” Shinji shook his head, and replied “Not war, but seclusion. Reduce our scouting and supply teams. Have as few people as possible out there to draw suspicion will make them divert their attention elsewhere” Shoji stroked his beard, deep in thought. “Well” he finally commented “Shinji here has a legitimate point presented to us…but out continual need for supplies makes reducing runs a dangerous practice. Food, clean water, and basics are easy to find here, but medical supplies, books, and other necessities don’t grow on trees. So, for the time being, I will do as you both suggested: Reduce weekly runs to bi-monthly runs. With smaller teams and less scouting teams. Now if you will excuse me” he stood, bowing to the two and then leaving them. Tomoko smirked at Shinji. “You certainly have a pull with Sensei Shoji, don’t you? I don’t think I have seen anyone sway him as much as you did. Maybe soon you can show me your skills…when I learn to respect you” She grinned as Shinji stood, leaving the building. =========================================== That night, the inhabitants gathered in the dining hall, feasting on a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and grains, while again strawberry cocktail was served much to Gabe’s delight. Dr. Moon sat next to Emiko and huffed. “Those kids are lovely, don’t get me wrong, but I was educated in Nuclear and Geo-thermal sciences, not daycare” Emiko shrugged. “Maybe when they install a nuclear reactor you can work there instead” Shinji and Gabe sat next to each other, while Tomoko sat next to Shinji, with Gabe gawking at her. “Dude, is she the chick you saved?” he whispered. Shinji nodded, with Gabe commenting “She is smoking hot man. I would go for it if I was in your shoes” Tomoko shot Gabe a look and remarked sweetly “Thank you for the compliment. Now wipe the soda off your chin” The doors opened, and in came Sensei Shoji, with an older woman, a young man and a girl, all of whom sat next to him. “Shinji” Shoji announced “This is my wife Kei, my son Fujita, and my daughter Hidemi” Shinji shook Fujita’s hand, and bowed to the two ladies. “Shinji here is my aid, and is doing a fine job at that. In fact…” he pointed to a man at the end of the table, eating a bowl of rice with his left arm “Eiji there owes his life to him. Without Shinji’s quick thinking, we could have lost our supply group altogether” Eiji smiled at Shinji, and thankfully said “I am in your debt, friend. But I am not totally crippled, as Dr. Yoshi had access to the best prosthetics in Japan before everything went insane. Soon I will be fitted with a new arm, and I can still work. Better my arm was lost than my life” Everyone upon hearing this clapped, with Tomoko looking at a blushing Shinji. Emiko and Dr. Moon chuckled, while Sensei Shoji continued “We all are here based on heroic acts done by everyone. Rokaru here saved my family from a robber, before the JSDF napalmed the city of Kyoto. I was a priest you see, and he led us here, where we now prosper. A new life, built on the bravery of others…stuff of legends” “So tell me” Rokaru asked the four of them “What did you do, before all this? Sensei here knows, but the rest of us should be aware” Shinji swallowed, with Emiko replying “Gabe here was a tourist from America. Dr. Moon was a Nuclear Geo-thermal scientist. I…I was a soldier” Rokaru smiled. “Ahh a JSDF soldier! Good!” Emiko shamefully hung her head. “Not JSDF…JOC…we tried to rebuild Japan, under hostile leadership” Shoji’s face lightened “I am aware of the JOC and their…crimes. But your past doesn’t guide your future, since you have proven to have gained Shinji’s trust, and now ours” Shinji tried to hide his face, when Kei, Shoji’s wife, asked softly “And you, Mr. Akai?” Shinji looked her in the eyes, and replied “I was a college student, a nobody. I lost my girlfriend, my family, my old life to this world, and I was trained to do more. I am not a warrior, but I can fight. And I will” Rokaru sneered “And yet, you disobeyed orders and hopped the wall. Impudence will get you nowhere, Mr. Akai” Gabe finally snapped “What is your goddamn problem? Ever since he came here you have been a burr in his ass. He has done more here in four days to help then you have. Because he saved my life I trust him, meaning you should too jackass. Now get off his ass” Fujita, Shoji’s son replied “You have been overly critical Rokaru. Maybe you should lighten up a bit?” Rokaru fumed, but nodded. “Fine” he hissed through gritted teeth “I will be less hostile, but only when we deserves it” =============================================== Gabe, the next morning, walked out in the fields and was greeted by the other farmers who handed him a hat. “You talking shit to Rokaru was a welcome change. That prick has been a royal jerk for ages” Kenko, the main farming manager told him, causing Gabe to blush. “I was just tired of seeing him put down my friend” Kenko shrugged. “Whatever. At least you did it. Now, since you know about harvesting rice, next is carrots, cucumbers, corn and buckwheat. Grab that sickle, and we will begin” Dr. Moon entered the daycare room, where children ran to her, yelling “MS. MOON! We missed you!!” Dr. Moon was stunned “Well hello children! I missed you too. OH!” she gasped as one child named Sayuma, handed her a flower made from gum wrappers and glue. “I made this for you” she said, smiling the entire time. “Why it’s gorgeous!” Dr. Moon said, tucking the flower in her black hair “I love it! Now…WHO WANTS TO PLAY WITH PAINTS!!” she hyped, causing the kids to jump in the air and cheer. Emiko watched the area by the gate, with only a single walker stumbling around. She pointed to it to another guard, who shook his head. “Not a threat. Only if the numbers reach double digits do we kill them. Be on the lookout for any game also. We need deer, rabbits and any source of meat we can, so we won’t deplete our livestock” Emiko nodded, adjusting her quiver sling. She felt a breeze float through the air, and smell the leaves giving off the sweet smell of autumn. She smiled, as she finally felt safe. Finally, her JOC past could be put behind her. Shinji checked on the fields, the inventory, meeting and greeting the people around him, noticing the looks changing from polite yet untrusting smirks, to friendly, warm smiles. He also noticed he felt more at home as he stayed, feeling as if this was where he had lived for years. Tomoko approached him and handed him a boken. “You are skilled with a blade. I want to see just HOW skilled you are with one” Shinji cocked his head. “How did you know I was trained?” Tomoko pointed to the boken in his hands. “You hold it as if it were an extension of your own body, and not like a simple tool. Your stance, flawed but skilled. You have your eyes locked on my eyes, and not my weapon. You pretty much ooze prior Kendo training” “I was trained by a JSDF officer” explained Shinji “He gave me my sword, and trained me with kendo. It….meant a lot to me” Tomoko’s face lightened, as she asked “And where is this teacher of yours now?” Shinji hung his head. “He…died. I wish I had been fast enough to save him, but I wasn’t. I failed him” Tomoko held his chin between her fingertips and replied “He would have been proud of you Shinji. I know that for a fact” Shinji’s face lit up as he looked into the eyes of Tomoko. “I hope so. I really do” Tomoko patted him on the shoulder and proclaimed “You need practice. Come on, let’s practice those swings and cuts” The two went to an open patch of land, with only a single peach in the middle. Tomoko raised her boken, with Shinji keeping his lowered near his center. She jutted forward, swinging her sword down, with Shinji sidestepping the blow and cutting her side. She smiled and muttered “Your form is good, as is your footing. Still, your wrists are too stiff. Relax, and let the sword be an extension of your arm” Shinji nodded, and returned to his original pose. “Let’s try your raised pose now” Tomoko suggested, as Shinji raised the wooden sword with Tomoko lowering her boken. “Swing, and let your boken flow through the air” Tomoko instructed, as Shinji closed his eyes. She lunged, stabbing at his midsection, only to have Shinji move to her right side and bring the wooden sword down across the back of her neck. She grinned and pushed the blade aside. “You are very well trained. Not many people know that technique. Maybe you can impart knowledge on me?” she asked. Shinji swallowed his fear and retorted “Maybe, but I would rather ask you out sometime when you aren’t busy” Tomoko blinked, and after a few seconds threw her head back and laughed. “You are bold! I love that in a man…tell you what, tonight the actors we have here are throwing the community a play. I would appreciate having you as my date. What do you say?” Shinji smiled and nodded, bowing to her. She took the boken and brought it down on his head, allowing the sword to tap his head. She grinned and remarked playfully “You’ll find new clothes in your size in your third drawer. I will be the girl dressed up as…well, I will leave that as a surprise. Don’t be late” ========================================================= The play began, with the actors dressed in bright, traditionally colored Kimonos, their faces obscured with wooden masks in a variety of expressions. The music, played over large speakers sang with classical Japanese instruments as the actors moved and gestured their bodies in a way that was compelling to see. The play, taking place inside a large room sealed away from the outside, was being watched by almost everyone in the settlement, with Shinji sitting on the front row, with Tomoko by his side. Gabe and Emiko were a row behind them, and Dr. Moon was on the top floor with the children. Tomoko eyed Shinji, who watched the play with intense fascination. “The play is one from an old book. It’s about a man in love, and the world is out to stop him from being happy, especially his father, the local governor” Shinji looked at Tomoko and asked “Spoil it for me. Does she love him by the end, or is he left alone?” Tomoko smiled at Shinji and whispered “You tell me Shinji…but I think she will” In another booth, Sensei Shoji watched with his family as Rokaru approached him, a dour look spread across his face. “A word in private, Sensei?” Shoji nodded and left his family to enjoy the show. Rokaru pulled Shoji close and whispered “I would keep a close eye on our new members. Shinji, Emiko and the doctor have proven themselves capable of blending in and endearing themselves to our people. I am afraid, Sensei, that if they became comfortable with our people, they might try a takeover, putting you in harm’s way. I know I have shown discomfort around them as of late, but I have only done so with your best interests in mind” Shoji nodded, pausing as he watched the play. “Rokaru, keep a close on them. I am not saying do something rash, but remain vigilant and keep me informed of anything out of the ordinary” Rokaru looked at the 5 down on the front row, smiling and looking at each other, replying “As you wish, Sensei” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: Jun and his group run a small scavenging run, with things quickly getting out of hand.

NEW CAST: Miki Hamada- Otsuka Chihiro Arashi Ouchi- Narimiya Hiroki Choi- Seungri Lead prisoner woman – Watabiki Miwa Captain Zhou - Bao Jian Feng
Summary: Jun and his group run a small scavenging run, with things quickly getting out of hand.
Episode 405 –What comes before us
Jun’s team, consisting of Kuma, Takeshi and Kasune went into the nearby supermarket, scorched black from the firebombing that engulfed the city months prior. Inside the building was surprisingly intact, although that didn’t spell much relief for the group, as they searched the front of the store, finding next to nothing in terms of supplies. “This place was looted clean” complained Kasune “I doubt we will find anything useful here” Takeshi saw a reflection from under a counter and grabbed a water bottle. “I found this beauty! Not a total waste” the older man boasted, as Kasune glared at him, remarking “Only a partial one”. Jun and Kuma searched the edges of the market, finding only a can of tuna and a single smashed protein bar. “The ceiling” Kuma exclaimed, with Jun looking above him. A huge hole was in the center, with the center aisles obliterated with what appeared to be a missile impact. “Hope the ceiling remains stable” Jun worriedly commented. He and Kuma searched around, finding spent shell casings from a rifle and a jammed Walther PPK kicked under a box. Kuma picked up the gun, cleared the jammed bullet and checked the clip, finding it full. “Wasteful” he said, grinning at Jun who added cheerfully “Shame to leave it behind, eh?” He then noticed Takeshi and Kasune finding a door, leading to the basement. Kasune peeked her head through the doorframe, only to whip her head back, covering her mouth. “Oh god the smell!” she gagged. Takeshi and Jun went downstairs, the thick stench of decay smacking them in the face like a wall and prompting them to cover their noses and mouths with cloths. The basement was dark, save for a single window, now broken in and dripping rainwater. Junk and mildew covered boxes littered the hard floor, as the two men came upon a row of bodies, lined up on the floor face down, blood splattered all over the floor from being shot in the back of the head. “Must have been lead down here to be executed by god knows who. Didn’t stand a chance” Takeshi muttered as he searched the bodies, while Jun noticed a single stuffed dog, now red with the blood from one of the dead children. HIs face quickly drained to white, a cold sweat dripping down his neck. Takeshi noticed the white shirt Jun was wearing becoming red. “Your wound is seeping again” he pointed out, with Jun tucking in his shirt as a response. “It leaks once in a while. If it hadn’t been for Dr. Hwang and Kwan’s group, I wouldn’t be here. Takeshi nodded very slowly, looking up the stairs to see Kuma peering down “Very fortunate indeed” They went back upstairs, with Jun and Kuma meeting up to relieve Takeshi. Soon, they saw a staircase leading to an upper office, and went up inside, finding nothing save for a bag of chips and a notebook. Jun picked up the book and flipped through the pages, reading aloud the writing. “My wife, daughter and I made it in here after the firebombing began. I can still hear the screams of the poor bastards outside” Jun flipped the page “It’s been three days. I can tell the building is no longer on fire, but things have gotten worse. Infected and alive people are killing anyone left. Already I can hear them downstairs, looting the store. We must keep quiet” The next page was smeared with dirt, which Jun squinted to read “Yesterday they found us, and forced themselves on my wife. They beat me, but I still see her face being abused…my daughter crying the entire time. They broke my legs…I can’t move” Kuma frowned at this, and Jun continued. “It’s been six weeks. We ran out of food, and my wife is still not talking to me. I think one of those bastards got her pregnant. My daughter died from a lack of food. I (the rest was smudged beyond repair)” Jun saw a door in the office nearby, smelling a thick aroma of decay hanging heavy. He found the final page, and recited it: “We had no choice. My wife was dying, and my daughter is long gone, so why not use her? I ate my child. My wife won’t even look at me now, but she spoke for the first time in ages, saying she will kill us both. I hope she understands what I had to do” Kuma opened the door, and inside were two corpses, both shot in the head with a small box next to them. Jun took the box, oily and stained with blood, and opened it. Inside were the skeletal remains of the child, now a pile of gnawed on bones. Jun dropped the box and vomited, with Kuma kicking the box away. “Let’s go” Kuma weakly suggested, with Jun nodding in agreement, still wiping off bile from his lips. Meanwhile, Kasune and Takeshi were still looking for anything useful, finding a few leftover cans of food. Kasune looked at Takeshi and finally built up the courage to ask: “So Murano…were you really going to kill that guy on the road, or was that for show?” Takehsi nodded, replying “Yes. I didn’t want to take a chance, and have someone end up dead. Better them killed than one of us” Kasune sorted through cans, adding “I agree. I think that I would kill anyone to keep our group safe. I lost everyone from my old home, and now you guys are the only family I have left. I know I have hardened from this world, as have you. Just don’t let it consume you in the end” Takeshi half smiled and nodded. “I will try” he commented “to keep my temper down in the future. No promises though” Jun and Kuma met them at the base of the stairs, with Kasune noticing Jun’s pale face and asking “Are you alright? What happened up there?” Kuma shook his head, and Takeshi hung his head. Jun collected his thoughts and said weakly “Let’s go back…there is nothing here” ================================================== On the other side of the village, Kwan, Shinsuke, Arashi and Miki searched the largest supply warehouse they could find. Inside a single walker stumbled around, his clothes beginning to turn black from the mildew. Shinsuke swung his axe and cleaved the top of the walker’s skull off, with Miki cringing. “Don’t worry baby” Shinsuke joked “I only swing one way if you catch my drift” Kwan rolled his eyes while Miki smiled slightly at the joke. The inside of the warehouse was filled with crates, abandoned cars and barrels, all of which were empty. An office was tucked away in the corner, which Kwan noticed, poking Shinsuke and pointing towards it. “Might be supplies stashed in there” Arashi told Kwan, who nodded in agreement. They found the door locked, but a single blow from Shinsuke’s axe broke the lock. Inside they found, perfectly preserved, a tin box filled with crackers, canned meats and vegetables, Sake, water, and bags of food. Miki noticed the Sake and picked it up. “I always wanted to drink, but dad never let me. Is this good Sake to have?” Shinsuke snatched the bottle away and cracked off the top, taking a large swig. His face twisted and he swallowed the liquid. “Yeah no” he gasped “This is piss water Sake” Kwan and Arashi chuckled at the sight. Suddenly, they heard from one of the shipping containers a faint tap. Arashi crept over to the container and rapped his knuckles on the door. “Hello?” a faint voice murmured. “Hello there. We aren’t here to hurt you, whoever you are” Arashi promised, with Miki going over and looking for the lock. She found it and slid the bolt to the side, releasing the door. Kwan and Arashi looked inside, finding fifteen to twenty women and children, all poorly dressed and malnourished. “Oh my god” Miki gasped as one woman crept forward, never taking her eyes off Shinsuke and Kwan. “You aren’t part of the Chinese or Korean groups, are you?” she asked nervously. Arashi shook his head. “No miss, we aren’t here to hurt you. We can get you away from here, but you need to trust us, okay?” The lady shook her head. “No…No they will be back! No no no no NO!!” she wailed, as the other women cringed. Shinsuke noticed bruises all over her arm and legs. “Ma’am…did they abuse you?” he asked, receiving a slow nod in return. “Bastards left them here for later” Kwan whispered in Shinsuke’s ear, his voice brimming with rage. The woman leaned against Miki and sobbed, while one of the kids, no older than eight, remarked woefully “They were going to use us as bartering tools. In exchange they would get supplies…for us” Arashi’s face grew pale. “Those blood suckers are trafficking people for food…” Shinsuke rumbled. Suddenly, the sound of engines and tires rolling up to the warehouse snapped them out of their horror. Arashi and Miki ran inside the container, while Kwan and Shinsuke ducked behind a pile of barrels and crates. The doors opened, and in came a group of around twenty Koreans, dressed in military clothing and armed with rifles, shotguns and various melee weapons. One of the Koreans, a thin man with a scraggly beard barked “*Secure the outside perimeter! I want there to be no dead in this area before our guests arrive*” () Shinsuke noticed he left his axe by the door frame, and cursed softly under his breath. Kwan pulled Shinsuke aside and whispered “We might take them with us to The Garden, no? It would be for their benefit as well as ours” The larger man shook his head strongly. “What if they have a population limitation? Or these ladies aren’t on the level? We don’t know anything besides what we have heard and seen, and for all we know it’s a trap” Another Korean, a woman whose hair had been shaven off called out “*Our Chinese guests are here, so get the goods ready!” The leader holstered his Glock 19 and the sound of more tires squealing alerted Kwan and Shinsuke to more company. Heavy footsteps thudded towards the door, and in came another twenty or so men, dressed in red and pea green clothing, all armed with AK-47s. The Chinese leader waved towards a thinner man to join him, and the Chinese commander said something in Mandarin. The thinner man translated: “*He wants to know if you have the bitches ready for travel, since he is a busy man*” the Korean leader gestured widely to the container. “*Twenty two FRESH women and...younger ones, as agreed upon” The Chinese leader eyed the container and yelled at the translator again. “*He wants to see the goods now, Choi. Open the box*” Choi opened the doors, showing the terrified inhabitants and exclaimed “*You see? Twenty two people as we agreed on! Now, about our-” “Twenty four” A Korean soldier pointed out. Choi looked and saw the Koreans dragging out Arashi and Miki, placing them before the Chinese. “Who the hell are you?” Choi demanded, with Miki shaking in terror, unable to speak. Arashi stood his ground, telling his captives “We are mere wanderers! We wish no harm upon us!” The Chinese leader fumed, while Choi gleefully replied “Is that so? You see, if it was JUST the girl here, I would have counted that as an extra bonus. But with you in the picture…well that makes things complicated. I mean, how would this look to our friends here, hmm? A man hiding in a container for women? It makes me look bad” He pulled out his Machete and laid the blade gently on Arashi’s neck. “I am not afraid of death, Korean pig” Arashi defiantly proclaimed, with Choi chuckling at the show of bravery. “You are a bold one friend. And I like that. Tell me friend, is that your heart, or your guts doing the talking?” He then slashed open Arashi’s stomach deeply, spilling his intestines all over the cement floor. Arashi’s face twisted in pain, clutching his stomach and gasping for air, while Choi gleefully chortled “I don’t see his balls in there, so probably the heart” he wiped the blade off on Arashi’s shirt and ordered his men to “Take this bag of shit out of here before he turns on us” The Chinese leader looked at Miki, a devious smile spread widely across his dirty face. “*You are a pretty one, aren’t you?*” he commented, running his hand through her hair, as Miki yelped in fear. Kwan angrily took his rifle and aimed at the Chinese leader’s head, but was stopped from pulling the trigger by Shinsuke. “You shoot him we get overwhelmed. I’m sorry bro but we can’t do anything for now” Kwan peeled the fingers off the rifle’s trigger and nodded angrily. “I know, but I can’t just let her get defiled like that! Who knows what will happen to her?!” “I understand” Shinsuke warned “I want to kill these pricks too, but we are outnumbered twenty to one. We will have to wait” ========================================== Meanwhile, back at the truck where Ronin and Jae Eun guarded the rest of the group, Haruna watched the trucks that pulled into the driveway through a pair of binoculars, commenting “Kwan and Shinsuke are stuck in there!” Ronin holstered a gun and started to leave when Kioko stopped him. “We need you here! If you leave and they find us, it’s all over!!” “I can’t leave them there to die!!” hissed Ronin, with Haruna gently taking his chin in her hand. “I need you here. That’s enough, right?” Ronin’s demeanor became softer, and he took her hand in his, nodding. “Kwan will get out of this. If not, maybe Jun and Takeshi can try to get them out when they get back” Sung-min ran up, panting. “The people inside are Korean and Chinese. They are negotiating a trade of some sort” Ronin looked at the wheezing Korean, bluntly asking “And how the hell do you know that?” Sung-Min smiled and replied “I was by the window, listening. I was in counter-intelligence, remember? Being sneaky is a thing I do” Ronin looked at Jae Eun and Haruna, muttering “Anything happens and I am going in, with or without your consent” ========================================== The Chinese leader grabbed Miki by her cheeks, checking her over as if she were a piece of meat being inspected. Miki sobbed, while the women and children were herded into the trucks the Chinese brought with them, as the soldiers jeered and howled at the terrified women and children, while Choi approached the Chinese leader, confused at what was happening. “*Aren’t you angry about her? She was here to save those women along with that waste of a man*” The Chinese leader smiled and brought Miki close to her chest, replying in mandarin. The translator answered “*He is thinking of her as a sample gift for your continued cooperation. He will go easy on you from now on because she is so beautiful” Miki’s eyes were swollen from the tears, as the Chinese leader licked her face whiling grabbing her neck. “Screw this” Kwan muttered, reaching for his rifle. Suddenly one of the Chinese soldiers shouted something that caused the other Chinese men to snap to attention, their rifles pointed towards the Koreans. Choi looked around him, confused at the scene before him. “What the hell is wrong with you bastards?!” he demanded. The Chinese leader screamed at the man, his translator scrambling to understand his boss. “He asked what plan you had in place. There are containers filled with the dead in the other warehouse. You weren’t planning on dumping these things on us as a trap, were you?” Choi’s eyes widened. “What?! I didn’t have anything to do with them! Those were there when we got here!” The Chinese leader pulled out his Beretta, shoving it in Choi’s face. “Listen to me, Zhou, I am not trying to screw you over. I don’t know how those shamblers got in there. Don’t do something you will regret later on, alright?” desperately yelped the Korean, glancing at the translator, who blurted out the message to Zhou, whose lip twitched in rage. Soon, he lowered his pistol and waved at his men, who also followed suit. He grinned and patted Choi on the shoulder, laughing jeering at him in Chinese. The translator exclaimed “He likes knowing you are trainable, because it makes you less likely to try something stupid” Choi seethed with rage, but nodded, stretching a fake smile across his lips. “Tell him when we find more ladies they will be delivered on time and in good shape…relatively. Also let him know, we need to find this place the informant told us about. Should work out well enough for the both of us, depending on how well set up it is” Kwan and Shinsuke glanced at each other, with the former whispering “The Garden? How would they know about it?” Shinsuke’s mouth fell open. “He said informant…maybe he meant Kioko?” Kwan shook his head, stating “No way she is an informant. She has been with us for the whole trip. Maybe they have a leak on the inside” Zhou dragged Miki up and threw her to the ground, snarling something that Translator was shocked to hear. “He…he said he wants you to watch him take her right here, and right now, in front of you” he said “ Because he wants you to see what a real man looks like, in front of boys” Choi cringed, and Zhou tore off Miki’s shirt, revealing her pale blue bra. As he reached for it, on the Koreans stepped forward, only to get a gun shoved in their face. Zhou looked down again, grinning as he reached down to a sobbing Miki. Kwan’s blood boiled as he silently readied his gun, shoving a worried Shinsuke to the side. He took aim at Zhou, lined up his shot through the scope, and took in a deep breath. “Kwan…please…if you do this, we are all dead. Don’t be a dumbass man, come on!” hissed his friend. Kwan simply snorted “Not this time” as he wrapped his finger around the cold trigger. Steadying his grip on the wooden stock, he squeezed hard, firing a single shot. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: Life for Shinji and co becomes harder, as forces plot against them, threatening their way of life.

SUMMARY: Life for Shinji and co becomes harder, as forces plot against them, threatening their way of life.
Episode 406- Betrayal
Shinji and Gabe stood at the doorway, waiting for Sensei Shoji to finish talking to Rokaru, the latter having a confused look on his face. “So why are we here?” he asked, as Dr. Moon and Emiko approached them. “I don’t have a clue. Maybe it was because of my little stunt to save the supply team” Shinji mused. Emiko glanced over her shoulder, looking at the section of the wall she left unattended. “I hope this is quick, because I have to get back on duty before something happens” she said, as the door opened. Rokaru made direct eye contact with Shinji before walking over to the wall. The four entered Shoji’s office, sitting down on the pillows before him as he poured himself a cup of tea. The smell of incense hung heavy in the air, while the chilled morning breeze perked the group up. Shoji’s face was heavy with worry and lack of sleep, as he sipped the tea, never taking his eyes off the four. “Thank you for joining me this morning. I normally refrain from speaking my mind, but attention has been focused on something of concern that is a possibility. I am going to be as brusque as I need to be when I ask: what are you four planning?” Shinji frowned, as the other members gawked at Shoji. “What are you talking about?” Gabe blurted out, with Emiko adding “I don’t understand the question, Sensei” Shoji straightened his posture and continued “I mean, what are your ulterior motives for coming here? What kind of plan do you have in store for this community?” Dr. Moon brushed the hair away from her eyes and commented “Sensei we don’t have any plans. We want to live here in peace, nothing more and nothing less. Have we not proven ourselves trustworthy?” Shinji ‘s face turned from confusion to anger. “Who lied?” he demanded. Shoji shook his head, “I am not at liberty to-” “You don’t have to tell us” Emiko interrupted “It was that shitbag Rokaru, wasn’t it? He has had it in for us ever since we stepped foot inside this place” Shoji sighed. “Yes, it was Rokaru. But please understand, he is my main security officer. It is his JOB to be wary and keep his eyes open for our safety. He informed me last night your intentions were to dissolve leadership here and take it over for your own purposes. He also said he has reason to believe that your friendly, helpful nature was merely a ruse. Now, could he be mistaken? Yes, but you understand my tendency to trust him implicitly, right?” Gabe was outraged, as he yelped “But you can’t throw us out based on one opinion!! Come on, we aren’t trying to take over!!” Shinji calmed him down, replying to Shoji “Sensei, trust me when I say, we aren’t trying to do something vindictive against your community. We want to live here in peace, away from the world. Please, trust me and my people!” Shoji rubbed his beard and thought for a moment. “Very well. You will be watched for a while, until Rokaru is convinced of your validity” They exited his office, and were greeted by Tomoko, with Honor in her hand at the ready. “Rokaru told me you were going to try something against our village. I would suggest otherwise” Shinji held out a hand, calmly explaining to her “Look, Shoji told us we would be under watch. We aren’t planning anything I swear to god!” Tomoko took a quick swipe, nicking his hand ever so slightly. He winced in pain, unsheathing Kuroi and readying his stance. Suddenly, Rokaru ran up, his pistol drawn on Shinji. “Leave now before we kill you, traitor!” he snarled. Emiko responded by pointing her rifle at Rokaru’s head, growling “Drop it, or I drop you” Tomoko swung her sword down, only to have it blocked by Shinji, who slid his blade close to her face. “STOP THIS! We aren’t the bad guys!”He pleaded, while Rokaru screamed “Kill him Tokomo! He and his ilk are going to kill us all!” Shoji stormed outside, his face white with fear. “EVERYONE STOP!” he took a deep breath and continued “I know Rokaru is rather pig headed, and I know you are defending yourselves, but PLEASE, this violence will solve nothing! Lets us put aside our weapons…and return to our duties. Tensions run high, but that cannot let us drive a wedge in between us” Shinji lowered his sword, with Tomoko following suit, while Emiko shouldered her rifle. Rokaru kept his gun pointed at Shinji, prompting Shoji to exclaim “You aren’t helping this situation either. Lower your weapon NOW” Rokaru holstered his pistol, sneering at Shinji and then storming off to the wall. Shoji put a hand on Shinji’s shoulder, whispering “I am not blaming you for this, but I am not going to be as…forgiving the next time something like this occurs. Understand?” Shinji nodded, and walked away. Tomoko ran up to him demanding “You aren’t going to do as he said you were, right? Rokaru is lying, right?” Shinji pulled her aside and hissed “That bastard wants us dead. I don’t know why, since we never offended him in the first place, but I am not trying anything stupid, okay? You do trust me, right?” Tomoko paused. “I barely know you, but from what I have seen you do look trustworthy” “Then why draw your sword at me?” the man asked, a hint of anger tinting his tone. “I did it to see your reaction. I wanted to believe you were being honest. And…if you were planning something, you would have killed me” She took his face in her hands, cooing “Look, I don’t think you are a monster. You have my support in this debacle” Shinji took her hand and gently kissed it. “Thanks…but if he keeps threatening my friends, he will see my inner monster” ========================================== Dr. Moon sat down on her sofa, a small one covered in a rich red blanket. Her mind was swirling with torrid thoughts, unsure if safety was an actual reality, or another illusion. She heard a faint knocking on the door, opening it to reveal Gabe, his face clouded with worry. “What’s wrong Gabe? Come in, come in!” Gabe entered the room, plopping down on her couch. “Doc…I still haven’t gotten over what I have seen. I saw the deaths of people I knew and got close to on the Shinda…I saw those monsters killing Noda, back at the facility you were in…I have seen death, and I am afraid” Dr. Moon wrapped her arm around his back, holding him close to her. “There there…we are safe now. Don’t be so worried, alright?” Gabe wiped tears from his eyes. “I am not a brave person. I never thought I would STILL be alive to this day, but I am because of Shinji and Emiko. I owe them my life…” Dr. Moon rested her cheek on his head, soothingly caressing his face as he broke down. “I thought I was going to die there…I was never so scared in my life” he muttered tearfully. Emiko went up to the wall and raised her rifle, noticing the other guards giving her side glances. “If you have anything you have on your mind, say it. Otherwise, stop being paranoid” she quipped, making the other guards look away. She looked through the scope and saw a single walker, dressed in army clothing with half its face torn away. She pulled out a suppressor, screwed it on the barrel of the rifle and again took aim. She fired, striking the walker in the head. One of the guards smiled, nodding happily. “Good shot Emiko! See guys, she is not to be screwed with, as that rotten corpse demonstrated!” Emiko grinned at the comment, racking another shot as she watched the gate. Shinji and Tomoko spent the day together, talking and practicing Kendo, until one of the security guards ran up, huffing “Hey Shinji! There is a small group of the dead approaching the west wall. Want to come with and help clear them out?” Shinji nodded, with Tomoko reaching for her sword. “Tomoko, Shoji wants you to guard the south most wall. It will be just us two” Tomoko nodded, and winked at Shinji as he left. They scaled the wall, and sure enough a small grouping of walkers, around nine, were clawing at the lantern used to draw them in a group. Shinji drew his sword and sliced the top of one’s head off, while the guard bashed in the skull of another. They continued killing walkers until one remained. Shinji pointed Kuroi at it and commented “You can have it if you want” the guard shook his head, with the other man sighing, bringing his sword above his head. He swung down hard, and clove the skull in half. As he turned around he felt sharp pains shoot through his arm. The guard had stabbed him in the shoulder, pushing him into the path of another walker that snapped and snarled at him. Shinji felt the drool of the walker drip down onto his face before using a branch to stab it in the eye. He walked over the guard, who attempted to stab him, but his knife was knocked out of his hand. Shinji held him down, with his sword drawn across him neck. “Rokaru set you up to this?” he demanded. The guard nodded fearfully, handing him a note. Shinji read the note: “This group is becoming too comfortable here. I want you to take Shinji, their leader over to the lamp-post and use the dead to distract him while you take him out. We will deal with the other three soon, but since he is the most dangerous, take it out before he notices what’s happening. Make it quick, and make sure he doesn’t turn. I don’t want Tomoko to find out he died from something out of the ordinary. Meet you back at the barracks Rokaru. PS: leave the remains for the dead to feast on” Shinji stuffed the note in his pocket, asking the guard “Why? Why is he so obsessed with killing or exiling us?!” The guard gulped and replied shakily “He knows you are formidable. He knows that you could make The Garden safe from outside threats and he is terrified of that!” “Why would he be? We need to be protected from the outside world!” The guard giggled nervously “He talks to someone on the radio at night…telling him secrets and guard duty layouts. I and a few others think he is trying something outside of Shoji’s attention” Shinji nodded as he stood. “Get the hell out of here…” he ordered as more walkers approached him. The guard was stunned. “You aren’t going to kill me? Really?” Shinji shook his head, replying “I won’t, but they will if you don’t leave. Don’t ever get in my sight again, or I won’t be so merciful” He then sliced the head off one walker, smoothly transitioning with a stab, taking out another. The guard stood, fidgeting before rushing forward, his knife raised. “I AM NOT LETTING YOU LIVE YOU BASTARD!!” he yelled. Shinji, with one smooth motion beheaded one final walker and also beheaded the guard, the head tumbling next to Shinji’s feet. He sighed and stabbed the head, taking the body and dragging it into the brush, to avoid prying eyes from making assumptions. =============================================== Emiko was resting in her room, the sound of classic rock soothing her. She was not used to such a nice room, but this was something she could very easily love. Her trance was broken by a knock on the door, which she answered. Gabe was standing there, a bottle of Soju in his hand. “Can I come in?” he asked, with Emiko glancing at the bottle. “What is that for?” she inquired, with Gabe shrugging. “You held that prick Rokaru up. Might have saved our lives for all we know” Emiko laughed. “I don’t think I did anything but stir the pot. But really, why the booze, and why the nice clothing?” Gabe coughed and answered: “Look, I know you and Shinji are close, probably as close as people can be, but-” he was interrupted with a snort. He looked confusingly at Emiko, who then burst out into a fit of laughter. “Shinji and I together?! Gabe…we are friends, not lovers.” Gabe blinked. “Y-you aren’t? But I thought…” his face completely fell flat, baffled at the revelation. Emiko looked again at the bottle, then at Gabe. “Gabe… do you have a crush on me?” she asked, with Gabe nodding. “…for how long? The whole trip?” Gabe again nodded, sighing heavily. Emiko blushed deeply, commenting “Well…you are a handsome man, and you have a good heart…do you want to work out something together? I mean, I am sure we can spend more time with each other” Gabe was ecstatic. “YOU MEAN THAT?” he gasped. Emiko smiled and ran her hand down his cheek. “I do. You’re a sweet guy, and anyone here would be lucky to have you, especially me. Now, how about you help me set up the table so we can have a drink” Gabe grabbed the end of the card table and helped set it up, setting the bottle on top. Emiko placed two glasses on top, with Gabe sitting next to her stunned. She cracked open the bottle and poured 2 shots of the strong liquor, toasting to a happy life. They heard a faint knock on the door, prompting Emiko to ask “Gabe, can you get that?” He stood and walked over to open the door. Upon opening the door, they came across a man dressed in black who pushed him against the wall, plunging a long, thin blade into Gabe’s chest. Emiko ran over to stop him, but the man swiped at her, striking her cheek and cutting it. As Emiko cradled her bleeding face, she watched in horror as Gabe slumped to the floor, gurgling blood with a shocked expression on his face. He gathered the courage and picked up a steak knife from Emiko’s cupboard, stabbing the man in the eye, killing him. The sounds of more footsteps became louder and louder, as more men dragged Emiko away, while Gabe reached for her, his bleeding getting worse. He gasped for air, trying to scream Emiko’s name, but failing, as she was drug away from her apartment. ===================================== Dr. Moon was with a kid, who would soon be picked up by their parents. The child, a boy named So Chun, laid across her legs sound asleep. She ran her fingers through his thick black hair, feeling a strange sensation from being so close to these young children. So Chun awoke, sleepily rubbing his eyes. “Is it bed time?” he asked, his Japanese still shoddy. Dr. Moon half smiled. “Yes sweetie it is…you should go home soon, okay?” So Chun stood and grabbed his favorite toy, a purple Kaiju with a large fin on its back. “Mom and Dad are always fighting. I hate it” Dr. Moon picked him up and said cheerfully “Well, how about I take you home? Then you won’t feel so scared of the dark!” So Chun shrugged. “The only monsters are the people who came back” he muttered, sobering Ga-in. “You’re not wrong, but we are safe here, I promise” The daycare room flung open, and two men armed with knives stormed in. “Dr. Ga-in Moon, you were seen trying to kill this child when we heard his screams. You are under arrest” Dr. Moon was horrified. “I did no such thing! You two are liars! Get away from us!!” One of the men yanked a screaming So Chun out of her hands, while the other rushed at her with his knife. She sidestepped him, and used a chair to knock him to the ground. She picked up his knife and grabbed the other man by the collar. With a strange primal rage, she screamed as the adrenaline surged through her, ending with her stabbing the man in the neck. The man gasped, collapsing to his knees. Dr. Moon climbed on top of him, stabbing him over and over again, while So-Chun watched in horror. The other man recovered, whipping out a collapsible night stick and smacking her across the face and knocking her out. ========================================== Dr. Moon awoke with her head groggy from the blow as Emiko kept talking to her, frantic to see if she was alright. “Doc, are you alright?! Speak to me!” Dr. Moon nodded slowly, murmuring “I am…what is going on?” Emiko’s lip quivered. “Gabe was stabbed, and Shinji…I don’t know what’s happened to him” The door opened and in stormed Rokaru, a huge smile across his lips. “So, you killed two of my men, and wounded another. Attempted murder and plotting against us, were you? Look…I know and you know it’s nonsense that you would try something. But, you are too much of a threat to me for you to stay” Emiko growled “What happened to Shoji’s US usage? Or is that thrown out the window?” Rokaru slapped her, opening her cut again. “I am doing what I must to save our people! Don’t say you wouldn’t do the same” Dr. Moon looked up, anger in her eyes. “Shinji lived, I am sure of it. And when he gets back, you are going to die. He has dealt with people like you before…” Meanwhile, Shinji made it back to The Garden, where Tomoko greeted him. “Shinji! What….whose blood is that?” Shinji wordlessly handed her the note, which she read. “Rokaru…no no no, what is he doing?! Did he try to get you killed?!” Shinji nodded, and saw Rokaru approaching him, a few men at his side. “Shinji Akai! You are under arrest for the murder of one of our guards! Your friends proved me right. Now, drop the sword and come with us” Tomoko stepped in front of him, and exclaimed “You aren’t taking him you traitor! You have been egging him on ever since they got here!” “Tomoko” Rokaru warned “Step aside or you will be outcast from here” Tomoko drew her sword, pointing it at the man. “Then do it! And see how Sensei Shoji reacts to this!” Rokaru stepped forward, and struck her across the face, knocking her unconscious. “Come with us, Shinji…or she dies” Rokaru demanded, pointing a gun at Tomoko’s head. Shinji threw down Kuroi, and grunted “You can have me…” allowing his hands to be cuffed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: As the conflict between Kwan’s group vs. the Chinese and Koreans grows violent, Jun’s group encounters issues of their own.

SUMMARY: As the conflict between Kwan’s group vs. the Chinese and Koreans grows violent, Jun’s group encounters issues of their own.
Episode 407- Phantom Pains
Steadying his grip on the wooden stock, Kwan squeezed the trigger hard, firing a single shot. The bullet sailed through the air, striking a Chinese soldier in the head, snapping Zhou’s attention to his Korean comrade. Zhou shot Choi a furious snarl “*YOU BETRAY ME DURING THIS DEAL? Think you can simply kill me like a dog?!*” Choi looked behind him from where the shot originated, shocked at what had happened. “It wasn’t us who did that you moron!!” he bleated “Someone else is in this warehouse with us!” Zhou shook his head, replying furiously “*No worming out of this, you Korean son of a bitch! Kill these bastards!!” The Chinese soldier raised their rifles and began firing aimlessly at the other group, while the Koreans opened fire as well, hitting the Chinese soldiers. Zhou ran to his truck, only to get shot from an errant bullet fired from Kwan’s rifle. Shinsuke ran and grabbed his axe, swinging it and killing a Korean with a blow to the head. Kwan meanwhile ducked behind a crate, taking shots at anyone in the room. Shinsuke then dove to the floor, grabbing a 1911 and shooting one Chinese soldier. Kwan grabbed his friend by the arm and they ducked into the next warehouse, with Shinsuke cutting the padlock in half with his axe. More and more walkers flooded the building, distracting the two fighting sides long enough for them to get into the trucks and drive out, with the human cargo safely in the back of the truck. Choi cut down a walker and shouted “Get the hell out of here! We need to regroup!!” Zhou meanwhile reached for a radio, and dialed into a frequency that worked. “*General, our deal with the Koreans is over. We lost our newest shipment in the firefight! I am-” A bullet struck him in the head, killing him instantly while the radio fizzled out. Miki huddled against a corner, watching the two sides duke it out, as blood and bullet sprayed everywhere. Kwan jumped out of the truck and cut down two walkers in his way, but the every growing herd soon surrounded Miki, as she was drug under and consumed. Kwan aimed and fired, striking Miki in the skull, putting her out of her misery. Shinsuke shouted “Get back here and let’s get the hell out of Dodge!” ================================== Jun and Takeshi heard the gunshots and hid behind a building, watching as dozens of walkers began to surround the building, clawing at the wooden doors trying to get inside. “That was where Kwan and Shinsuke were!” Kasune noted, with Kuma adding “Surprise attack maybe?” Jun twisted his head. “I don’t know. But we should draw them away from there, giving them enough time to escape” Suddenly a fleeing Chinese soldier ran past them, spotting them and jerking to his side, his rifle raised. Takeshi shot him in the heart, dropping him, but also alerting the walkers outside the warehouse.”Shit that was stupid!” he yelped as the four ran to the truck, walkers following them. They arrived at the truck, with the supplies they gathered being thrown into the back of the truck. “Form a circle! We need to thin them out!” Jun ordered, with Ronin and Sung-Min snapping to attention. Haruna and Jae Eun stuffed Esther in the truck with Dr. Hwang, grabbing a machete and an ice pick respectively. Kioko unsheathed a hatchet, while the rest armed themselves with whatever weapons they could find. Forming a circle, they readied for the herd that was slowly heading towards them. Jun chopped the skull of one walker in half, while Takeshi smashed another’s head in with a hammer. Ronin’s side ached, but he was able to kill multiple walkers, while Haruna kept a close eye on him while killing a few walkers herself. Ronin felt his arm being pulled, and saw a walker snatching it and lunging to take a bite. The walker’s head erupted in a fountain of blood and bone, spraying all over his body. He looked up to see Haruna smiling and nodding, lowering her pistol. Jae Eun noticed a walker clawing at Esther outside the truck window and broke formation, stabbing it in the head with her ice pick. Jun screamed “Reform the circle!! We can’t let them attack our backs!!” Sung-Min shot several walkers that came too close to breaking inside the circle, while Kasune and Kuma brought down walker after walker with their melee weapons. More and more walker bodies began to pile up, and the sound of thunder rattled through the evening air. Rain slowly began to fall, then sheets of rain poured from the heavens, enveloping the land in small rivers of rainwater. Takeshi, trying to see through the rain, clove one walker’s skull in two, when he went to reach for Kioko, who was to his immediate left. His hand felt something, and then a sharp pain snapped his attention away from the ever increasing herd of the dead: his pinkie and ring finger had been bitten off by a walker, spraying blood everywhere. He screamed in pain, clutching his hand, while Ronin and Jun grabbed him, shooting more walkers to clear a path. Dr. Hwang, who was inside the truck with Esther, looked over the wound with a grim look across her face. “I will need to amputate the hand, Mr. Murano. I don’t want the infection spreading and killing you.” She handed him a bottle of very strong whiskey and nodded, with Takeshi downing a shot. Dr. Hwang wrapped a belt around his wrist, and prepared a medical hacksaw with the same alcohol, cleaning the blade. Takeshi shook his head, handing her a hatchet. “Use this instead! HURRY!” he hissed through gritted teeth. Dr. Hwang cleaned the head of the axe off, and took in a deep breath. She raised the axe and brought it down hard on his wrist, the sound of crunching bone and cut tendons drowned out by Takeshi’s screams. She raised the hatchet again, cutting down deeply into the muscle, severing the rest of the bones, leaving only a few veins and bits of skin hanging. She made one final cut, trying to hold back her tears, now completely severing the hand from the wrist. Takeshi gawked at his wrist, and then fainted. Dr. Hwang gestured to Esther, “Prepare the blowtorch! I need it to cauterize the wound! HURRY!” Esther picked up the torch, and struggled to light it, but eventually she did, causing a brilliant blue flame to emit from the spout. Dr. Hwang took the torch and applied the fire to the raw stump, sealing the gushing veins and arteries, but also creating the putrid smell of burning flesh. As Esther stared in shock at the blood and removed hand, Dr. Hwang put a hand over her eyes, shaking from the experience. Meanwhile, Jun and Ronin returned to the fray, catching a glimpse of a few Chinese and Korean raiders running to the woods away from each other, and nodding at Ronin. They then began to cut down every walker they could find, creating almost sandbag like piles of dead walker corpses, while the rest of his team were now pumping with adrenaline, cutting, stabbing, hacking, smashing, shooting and slicing every walker they could see, while an amazing Kioko gawked at them. After a few more intense minutes, the final walker fell to Jun’s blade, landing at his feet. The group stood, panting and gasping for air, while the rain slowly let up allowing sunlight to beam down on the blood covered and water soaked fighters. “Is Takeshi alright?” Kasune demanded, noticing Dr. Hwang getting out of the truck, her face white as paper. “He is unconscious for now, but I am certain we removed the hand before the infection could spread” Jun frowned. “We? Who was…oh god Esther helped you cut off his hand?!” he screamed, while Dr, Hwang shrunk against the truck. “Yes, but he was dying! I had no choice, I needed her to assist me!!” Jun was about to launch another round of screaming at her, but Jae Eun held him back. “Thank you doc” Jae Eun said, looking at a fuming Jun “I am sure Takeshi will be most grateful” Kuma looked around, and asked “Where are Kwan and Shinsuke?” when out from the other side of town a huge moving truck swung around the corner, cutting down more walkers that were from the countryside nearby. The truck came to a screeching halt, and out hopped Kwan and Shinsuke, who both stared at the carnage before them. “You all have been busy” Kwan commented, with Shinsuke grinning. “So much blood, you would think someone did some backdoor exploring without lube” Kwan smacked him across the back of his head, with Shinsuke merely laughing at his joke. Jun and Kwan then met, with Kwan asking “So…what did I miss?” Jun kicked over the body of one walker and answered “We heard gunshots coming from the warehouse, then the two groups booking it out of there. Then, well, the herd found us” Shinsuke held up his hand, with Jun acknowledging him. “I hate to interrupt, but the truck we have not only has food, but twenty plus women and children the Koreans were using as bartering supplies with the Chinese” Ronin walked up and opened the back of the truck, seeing the terrified women and children huddled close to one another. “We aren’t going to hurt you, I promise” he assured them, as the leader of the group stepped out of the truck, her face dirty from grime and neglect. “We thank you for saving us. It was uncommon decency that drove you, I hope” Kwan nodded. The leader continued “My name is Minami, and I am a member of another community nearby that is most likely looking for us. As much as we would like to travel with you, now knowing your moral compass, we must go home. Take this as a thank you gift, and if you come in contact with a member of our people, show them this” passing onto Kwan a ring adorned with a simple bead of red jade. “They will ask you if the sun is half past noon. You must reply ‘It is quarter past’ for them to trust you. I will, with your blessing, take this truck back with us. Farewell” She then climbed into the driver’s side seat, and waved at the group, driving into the woods. Kioko looked around, asking “Where is Arashi and Miki?” Kwan hung his head, while Shinsuke explained “The leader of the Koreans executed Arashi…while Miki was devoured by the dead…I am sorry” Kioko leaned against the group truck, and muttered “I knew them both for ten years…they won’t be forgotten, nor will your heroism” Suddenly Dr Hwang burst out the truck, proclaiming “Takeshi is awake!!” They ran to the back of the truck, found a groggy Takeshi propping himself up with his right hand, while he tried to rub his face with his left, but after nothing happened, he looked at the blue sock covering his stump. “What…what the hell happened to my hand?!” he demanded, looking around at his friends. “You were bitten by a walker, and we had to remove your hand…to keep you from turning” Dr. Hwang explained, while hiding behind Kwan. Jun put a friendly hand on Takeshi’s shoulder and nodded. “At least you are alive. And that is all that matters, especially since it could have killed you” Takeshi gazed at his stump and sighed. “I was stupid becoming careless and allowing myself to get goddamn bitten” he growled “I should be dead. My foolishness could have gotten one of you killed, had the dead punctured our circle” Haruna sat next to a depressed Takeshi and side hugged him. “I am sure you will figure out how to protect us with one hand alone. Besides, at least we won’t have to look for left handed gloves” Takeshi smiled, and replied “Got me there” Kioko picked up a can of food from one of the dead walkers, tossing it to Jun. “We should search these corpses for anything we can use” she suggested “Since we have another two miles to The Garden. We should rest for the night, and then set out in the morning” Jun nodded, and they quickly searched the bodies, finding food, water and guns with ammo, tossing the supplies in a box in the back of the truck. Sung-Ming pulled the truck away from the side of the road, and parked inside an abandoned shed, where they slept, while Jun and Kwan kept watch. Jun looked over at Kwan, asking him “Do you think we will be able to live with what we have seen? Do you think that all these things we have seen and endured will make us…less than human?” Kwan slowly shook his head. “I saw many things in Korea I am not capable of stomaching. I…used to know a friend, Hyunsu, who was like you. A strong, intelligent leader who was an average guy thrown into a shitty situation. He became drunk with power, and killed his best friend to prove how in control he was. I left his side after he did that, because I couldn’t live with the idea of me becoming a raider like him” Jun passed Kwan a bottle of beer, and asked “Where is Hyunsu now?” Kwan shrugged. “Hell if I know. I don’t want to care about him or his group. All that matters now is keeping your group and mine alive through this hellscape. To be honest, you are a better man than Hyunsu ever was…you are a leader I can and I will follow. You lead, I will back you up” Jun smiled, and nodded. “I will try not to fail you guys. Maybe this garden place has a new future for us to forget what has happened” Kwan sipped the beer, and put in “We can’t forget what we have seen…it would make us soft, and that would get us killed. We have to be hard now, but we can’t forget who we were, otherwise we are no better than those dead corpses that shamble around” Jun looked at the moon, noticing how bright and large it was. “I would do anything to protect my family here, even if that means getting my hands dirty. Anyone gets in between my family and I’ll kill them all” Kwan finished the bottle and added “I agree. And I will kill anyone who tries to hurt my family here as well. We’re very much alike, aren’t we?” Jun jokingly replied “Well…I am better looking than you are, so not really” they then shared a cheerful laugh while Jun cracked open another bottle or beer, being joined moments later by Kuma, Ronin and Sung-Min who sat next to the men with canteens and a can of fruit, which they shared, while watching for any intruders. ================================================= The next morning the group packed and walked to The Garden, buried deep in the neighboring woods. As they headed towards their destination, Jae Eun watched as Takeshi trained himself to quickly draw both his pistol and his knife using his right hand, and to aim his rifle with his now bandaged stump. He angrily sighed, and shoved the gun in his holster. “God dammit all! I am totally worthless!!” He mumbled to himself. Kuma walked next to him and slid the holster to his left hip, the gun angled slightly. “Effective side draw” he commented, gesturing for the older man to try. He did so, smoothly drawing the pistol out. Takeshi smiled and went to pat the man on his shoulder, but recoiled, looking at his stump. “It’s strange” he said, mildly amused “I swear I could feel fingers curling to touch you, but…there is nothing there. Sometimes I have an itch, or my knuckle feels as if it needs to be cracked, but when I try to scratch my itch, or pop my finger, there is nothing there. I must be insane” Dr. Hwang checked his wound, noticing no signs of infection or bleeding, prompting her to sigh in relief. “It must be a phantom pain. Old muscles reacting as if nothing went wrong, only to end up in neural limbo. They should pass, but you might have them once in a while from here on out” Takeshi half smiled and slid on the blue wool sock again, grunting “If I live that long, you mean. Crippled old bastards like me don’t live that long out here” Shinsuke chimed in humorously “So gramps, now that you are needing a hand from now on, maybe I can finally prove how awesome I am and feed you from here on out?” Takeshi leaned in and said bluntly “I could still impress a lady with a stump. But I am sure you are aware of that already on your end” Kwan and Kuma chuckled audibly, while Shinsuke laughed, wrapping an arm around the former cop. “Good one you grumpy asshole! I like it when old farts are actually funny instead of complaining about the consistency of oatmeal” He looked around, receiving nothing in response. Finally, Kuma piped up “Needs work” They arrived at an area of the woods, where the smell of autumn wafted through the gentle breeze, while leaves fell from the many trees overhanging the road. Bamboo shoots and bushes lined the forest floor, creating a scenic, almost heavenly feel to the area while birds sung in the trees. Esther picked up a leaf and gave it to Jun, while Ronin and Kwan looked ahead, scouting for any walkers. Haruna and Kasune watched, both armed with a sawed off shotgun and an AKMS they found on the dead Chinse soldiers. They came across a Torii gate, now covered in moss and vines, creating an almost holy feel to the land. “It’s incredible” noted a breathless Kioko “I never saw the season like this before” Soon they arrived at a crossing, with 4 stone pillars etched with barely legible writing, while the sun slowly began to rise above them, indicating it was just before noon. Ronin walked ahead, looking around for any walkers when suddenly a woman jumped out of the bushes, a red straight sword pointed at his neck. Ronin blocked the sword away from his face, bringing his dragon pistol to her face, shouting “BACK UP LADY!” The woman lowered her sword, and looked at Kioko, stating “You are friends with these people? You trust them, no?” Kioko nodded, replying “Yes I do actually” The woman sheathed her sword, looking at Jun and the others with mild concern. “My name is Tomoko, and I need your help to save my friends” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the mid season finale of The Walking Dead Japan: Jun and Co finally arrive at The Garden, where threats from both outside and in arise.

SUMMARY: Jun and Co finally arrive at The Garden, where threats from both outside and in arise.
Episode 408-From whence you came
Shinji watched the Shinda become enveloped in flames, while the water around his raft filled with bodies, both dead and alive. Horrified, he tried to row away from the scene, but the arms of the bodies reached up, dragging the raft down. As the craft filled with black and red water, a familiar voice whispered “You could have saved them…but you didn’t. Just like you didn’t save me” He turned, and looked at the charred body of a young woman crawling towards him. She raised her head, revealing the mutilated and burnt face of Yui, his ex-girlfriend. “Yui…but…you’re…” Shinji stuttered as she wrapped his face in her blacked, peeling hands. “You failed them…like you failed me” she hissed before looking up to see the Shinda erupt in flames, with a large flaming chunk of the hull hurtling towards him- Shinji awoke in his cell, a tiny room with a barred door keeping him secluded from the rest of the community. He rubbed his eyes and fiddled with a book he was given, when a familiar voice asked “Are you comfortable, friend? I can provide more comforts if you ask nicely” Shinji looked up to see Rokaru sitting across from him with a gleeful smile. “You see, Sensei Shoji is not aware of this…arrangement I have made. Hell he still thinks you are out on a cleaning run. As for the others, well, they are being held in the cells next door. Save your friend, Gabe that is” He stood and tossed Shinji a shirt, adding “Your girlfriend Tomoko is outside, looking for help. I think instead of help, she will find something more…hostile” Shinji angrily rumbled “And that means you will kill her too? When will the killing stop, Rokaru? When you have cleansed everyone who doesn’t exactly follow you orders? I’ve seen people like you before, and it never ended well for them” Rokaru leaned close to Shinji and tauntingly inquired “You think of me as a man wanting power? As a man wanting to hoard the treasures leftover from the old, desiccated world? You think so low and never once considered that, maybe I am doing this for my people’s sake” Shinji threw the shirt at him, and laughed. “If you really are that delusional, then you really aren’t suited for this world. But, don’t worry about that, since this world will chew you up and spit you out like the waste you are. You are a total moron” Rokaru smacked the bars with his nightstick. “Keep that up, Akai, and you will end up as a corpse long forgotten by the world. Behave, and I might not kill you…at least not now” He then waved at a fuming Shinji as he opened the door. He left the cell and was confronted by Shoji, who threw against the side of the building. “What have you done?!” Shoji roared “You imprisoned Shinji, Emiko and Dr. Moon for no reason against MY ORDERS!!” Rokaru feigned innocence, bleating “They committed crimes against you and this community! I was merely-” Shoji slammed his fist into Rokaru’s face, and screamed “You have no power to do that without MY authority given first! You think you can order punishment without referring to me first? It’s my word and my word only that keeps this place running” Rokaru wiped blood off the corner of his mouth, and smirked. “Maybe not for long, Shoji” He muttered, nodding to a man behind him, and Shoji was grabbed by a guard loyal to Rokaru, who threw him in the same cell as Shinji, locking the door and pocketing the key. Rokaru saw the small crowd of people, and explained to them “We were deceived by Shoji and his regime! He was weak, and allowed outsiders to take our home! They allowed outsiders in our community, poisoning us from the inside! We would have been stabbed in our sleep, and had our homes taken. We will survive, and we will not allow them to rule us under an iron boot!” During the speech, Gabe, who was locked inside a cell of his own, clawed at the cell door, the loss of blood weakening him so much he was barely able to move. He felt incredibly cold, as he was drenched from sweat and blood as he lay on the concrete floor, each breath getting harder and harder to achieve. He rested his head down, and felt the pull of eternal sleep reaching for him, which he soon began to thinking about accepting, as the speech Rokaru was giving thundered through the small building. He was dying, and he knew it. ============================================= “What kind of help are we talking about?” Sung-Min asked Tomoko, who watched the group closely. “My friend was imprisoned wrongly for something he never did, as were his friends. The man who imprisoned him has had an agenda against him ever since he arrived here, and this was him acting out” Kwan noticed a walker approaching them and shot it with a suppressed rifle while another was cut down by Shinsuke, with Tomoko noting “You are well armed. I think you can make a case for my friend” Kioko stepped in front of Jun and Sung-min, bowing towards the woman. “Tomoko, Shoji would never have allowed such a thing to happen, so Rokaru must have done this on his own accord. Shoji is not the kind of person to jail innocent people with good reason” Jun cricked his neck. “Rokaru? Who is he?” “He is the lead security officer for The Garden” Kioko explained “I met him once while we were trading. He is a total asshole, but I never thought he would do something so…rash” Jun checked his rifle’s magazine. “So if we convince Shoji we are friendly, maybe we can turn him against Rokaru. How many people are under his command as muscle?” Tomoko shrugged. “Maybe two or three. The guards normally are not loyal to him, but there are a few who are fanatical about his leadership” “So” Ronin suggested “Lets release your friends and kill Rokaru. Sounds simple enough to me” “NO!” yelped Tomoko “We are not going to resort to assassination! I…can’t let that happen, because it would ruin Sensei Shoji and his community’s view on his leadership” Jae Eun stepped in, and pointed to a man behind Tomoko. The man, Hua Ji, smiled as he opened his arms. “Welcome to the Garden! We-” Tomoko drew her sword and stuck it in the man’s face. “YOU ARE WORKING FOR ROKARU!! BACK UP!” she yelled, while Jun and his group raised their rifles at the man. Hua Ji’s smiled fell, and he held up his hands. “I am here to find you Tomoko, because like you, I am against his regime of fear mongering. I will assist in any way I can” Takeshi raised his stump. “Excuse me, but we want to have a home in The Garden. Going around gunning down people will send the wrong message. Maybe we can persuade Shoji to help us, and in return we remove this Rokaru from power?” Jun nodded, while Tomoko and Hua Ji spoke in private. Hua Ji then looked at the group, and ordered “Follow us. We will take you there and deal with things” Takeshi spoke up “Wait a moment…why do you trust us? We are strangers and for all you know we could be trying to raid your home” Tomoko pursed her lips. “I can tell when people are genuine, and when they aren’t. In my gut, I can tell you aren’t the kind of people to try something like a raider would. You have Kioko here as a friend, and, to be honest, I…we, don’t have any other choice” ============================================= Emiko hugged her knees, sobbing at the thought of Gabe’s current state when the door opened, and in came Rokaru, armed with a night stick. “Please, stand” he said, with Emiko standing up. A guard opened the door, and she was escorted out of the cell with her hands tied behind her back. “You are a violent woman Emiko. I suppose” he said, placing the end of the stick under her chin “That is what one needs to be to survive this world’s horrors. I know that. I also know that arrangements need to be made to ensure our survival. I just want you to know that this isn’t personal, sweetie” Emiko looked at Rokaru with tears dripping from her chin. “I hope you realize when you are dying on the cold ground, it will very much be personal, traitor” Rokaru smacked her across the face, again splitting open her cut. “You are a mouthy BITCH!” Rokaru spat “And if I was less moral, I might consider taking you for a ride at your expense. Trust me, that would be more pleasurable for me than you. But that won’t happen. Instead, you-” He was interrupted by a man outside shouting “Hua Ji and Tomoko return!” The gates opened and in walked Jun’s group, who gawked and stared at the oasis before them. Haruna remarked “It’s like something out of a story book…safe walls, fresh food, children playing. It’s incredible” Ronin looked around and saw the people looking at them with mixed reactions, ranging from curiosity to mild fear or worry. “These are ordinary people living their lives day to day. It’s almost as if the world didn’t end here” Tomoko pointed to the large brick building and exclaimed “There is where they are holding my friends, since that is the village jail” Rokaru stormed outside to find Tomoko and Hua Ji surrounded by Jun’s group, all of whom were armed to the teeth. He straightened his posture and sauntered over to the group. “I apologize for not having a warmer reception, Tomoko, but who are these people you welcomed into our community? They haven’t been vetted by me yet, so while I appreciate all of you taking care of my people, you will have to leave here as soon as possible, understand?” Jun and Kwan walked up to the man, with Jun grabbing him by the collar and holding a gun to his chest. “GET SHOJI OUT HERE NOW YOU SNAKE!” Jun rumbled, with Kwan aiming his rifle at the rest of Rokaru’s men, ordering “Don’t do anything stupid boys” “You stupid sons of bitches” hissed Rokaru “You think you can take this place over? HMM?” Jun got directly in Rokaru’s face and demanded “We aren’t here to take this place over dickhead. Get me Shoji NOW; otherwise I blow your smug face off right here” Rokaru waved at the guard, who ran to release his prisoners. After a few minutes, Shoji, Shinji, Emiko, and Dr. Moon were released, with Jun gasping at the sight of his old friend. “Shinji…is that you?!” he asked, with Shinji running up to him, his face fraught with both joy and shock. Jun threw Rokaru to the ground and the two men embraced, while Ronin held a gun on Rokaru. “Dude” Shinji whimpered “I thought you were dead!” Jun smiled. “Well, I might have if it weren’t for blind luck” Shoji approached Jun, and extended a hand which the latter took. “I assume you were told about our situation by Tomoko here? Actually it doesn’t matter, except that you are here to help us. I am Sensei Shoji, at your service” he said, with Rokaru chuckling in the background. “What are you laughing about asshole? Your little shit scheme failed after all” Shinsuke asked angrily, with Rokaru nodding towards the gates. The sounds of vehicles, a single truck and three motorcycles, roared up to the gate, with around nine Koreans stepping out and surrounding the gate armed to the teeth with rifles, pistols, shotguns and other melee weapons. The leader stepped forward, a handsome yet rough looking man with his hair slicked back wearing a tan jacket, his shotgun slung across his back. In perfect Japanese, he shouted “You! The one with the leather jacket!” while pointing at Jun. Jun stepped forward, and stood in front of the barred gate that was normally behind the thick wooden gates, staring the leader in the eyes. “You wanted to talk to me?” he asked, with the leader grinning devilishly. “Yeah I did, actually. You see, we were going to come in here, and with our friend’s help over there, we would have made one hell of a haul here. Enough to make the Chinese happy for weeks” Jun looked at Rokaru, who smiled with pure confidence. “You made Rokaru your inside man? What was in it for him, immunity?” The leader shrugged. “He wanted us to ice the leader of this cozy as hell little cottage. But…” he trailed, grabbing and cocking his shotgun “You being here makes his initial plans much more difficult. So since I am such a nice guy, I will give one of two choices: one, you can leave, and we promise to kill you only after we are done looting and pleasuring everything in here, or two, we kill you right here and right now. So which choice will you take?” Jun looked at his people, who gave him knowing glances. “I think friend, you missed the third choice” Jun commented, with the leader scoffing. “Oh really? And what is that, exactly?” Jun shrugged. “Well, it involves you leaving this place, and never coming back. We aren’t a group of sheep awaiting slaughter, and you will die if you try to make a scene. So what do you choose, friend?” The leader put a finger on his lips, and pretended to think. “Well” he finally said after a moment “Since you put things like that…I will have to pass” As soon as the words left his mouth Jun whipped out his Revolver and shot the leader in the head, and his group opened fire, gunning down all but two of the remaining Koreans. Rokaru elbowed Shoji in the face and ran to the prison cell, slamming the door shut behind him. Shinsuke struck one of Rokaru’s guards in the neck with his axe, killing him instantly, while the last remaining guard raised his hands, only to get shot by Kuma. The last two Koreans tried to run, but one was shot in the head by Jun, with the other being attacked by a walker. Jun and Kwan ran outside the gates and shot the walker and the Korean, checking for anymore that might be hiding in the dense foliage and trees. Suddenly, the door opened, and Rokaru stepped out with a bloody and dying Gabe in his grip, a knife pressed against his throat. Gabe was white, and a thin glaze of sweat and blood was all over his face as he wheezed for breath. Shoji stared in horror at Rokaru. “You were behind this whole thing so that you would replace me?! You were going to allow those animals to pillage and desolate our home so you could finally lead this place?! You betrayed everything you swore to uphold you traitorous bastard!!” Rokaru grinned. “I did it to preserve this place. They would have taken everything and left only ruins. I was going to SAVE this place, and our people. Then you had to let these fools in here, and let them integrate into our society” He gestured wildly and pressed the knife close to Gabe’s throat. “You would have led us to our end! You would have killed us with your kindness and open mindedness!! You should have been stricter and maybe we would have lived!!” Shoji frowned, and replied “I agree. I was too soft, and I did allow people who don’t belong here. You are such a person, as you yourself said, because you are a threat to everyone here!” Rokaru screamed “NO I AM NOT!! I AM THE SAVIOR YOU NEED!” He then stabbed Gabe in the throat, and drew his gun, aiming it at a petrified Esther. Before he could pull the trigger, Jun ran up and wrestled the gun out of his hand, eventually restoring to taking his knife and stabbing it into the ground, with Rokaru’s left hand being stabbed and pinned in the process. Jun stood and pointed the gun at the man’s face, looking back at Shoji. Shoji walked up to Jun and whispered “Kill him. I don’t want threats like him here” Jun shook his head. “Shinji lost his friend to this prick…he should do it” Tomoko and the rest watched as Shinji marched towards Jun and took the gun in his hand, with Jun stepping back. Rokaru spat viciously “You don’t have the balls to kill me kid! You are the good guy, remember? You are the morally superior one! You kill me, and you become a monster” Shinji’s hand shook as he held the Beretta Bobcat as he replied coldly “I was a monster long before I came here. You aren’t telling me anything new. As for being the good guy…I never was” He then without a hint of hesitation pulled the trigger, blowing Rokaru’s brains across the ground. Emiko and Tomoko were shocked, while Ronin leaned towards Jun and whispered “He is ready for this world now” Shinji dropped the gun, and slowly he covered his mouth, the horror of what happened slowly taking over him. Tomoko took his hands in hers, and embraced him, while he stared at the corpse. The people around him were deathly silent, while a single moan punctuated the silence. Jun looked at the gate to see the last remaining Korean slumping against the gate, gargling on his blood. Jun and Ronin walked up to him, and Jun leaned close to him, hearing him whisper “We will be back…in greater numbers…you will pay for what you did to us…” Jun looked at Shoji, Shinji, and Jae Eun, and replied “Go ahead…give it your best shot” He then point blank shot the man in the face, killing him. He looked up and saw the settlers looking at him, with expressions of both shock and disgust. Sensei Shoji looked at the corpses of the dead Koreans and of Rokaru’s, wiping his brow stressfully. “It…had to be done, Sensei” Ronin assured the older man, who nodded. “We lived here untouched by the outside world’s poison, only to have one from within doing the poisoning for it” Jun, Shinji and Kwan watched as the man stood before his people, and pointed to Jun’s group. “These outsiders have proven to be the reality of this world, and if we are to survive, we must learn from them. They are not only our saviors, but exactly what we need to survive. Will you teach us?” Jun looked at the bodies, then at a nodding Jae Eun and replied with a slight smile “Why not?” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NEW CAST: Hua-Ji Liang– Fan Siu Wong Dr. Yoshi- Oizumi Yo
Summary: After arriving at the Garden, Jun and Co will have to fight to save it, and in the process become members.
Episode 409 – So shall you be sent
As the smoke spewed out of Jun’s lowered pistol, one of the villagers shouted “THE DEAD ARE COMING!!!” Jun looked behind him, seeing a sizeable herd approaching the gates as the villagers backed away from the onslaught of the dead. Shinji ran up to his friend, Kuroi drawn as he noticed the large body of Shinsuke readying his axe. “Who the hell are you?” he asked, receiving a curt “Does that shit really matter right here, right now kid? We have walking bone-bags to slaughter” Jun looked at Shoji, who gave him a single nod as he rallied the people behind him. “Ready yourselves! We cannot let them cluster and attract the people in here! Don’t let any of them get in the village!” Tomoko ran up, her sword ready while Emiko joined her, a knife gripped tightly in her right hand. The walkers swarmed the group, only to get hacked, stabbed, bashed and smashed to death by the defenders. One walker was struck in the head by a shot from Jae Eun’s rifle, while another was pushed to the ground and soon its head was crushed to a gooey pulp by Haruna, armed with a brick. Tomoko slashed at a walker with Shinji at her back, while Shinsuke and Ronin cut down swathes of the dead with ease. Finally, Hua-Ji was slashing and cutting down clusters of the dead with his machete, sending pieces of brain and bones hurtling towards the ground with the air becoming black and red from the fetid blood of the walkers. More people in the village ran forward, weapons in hand. The guards climbed the wall’s catwalk and picked off stragglers, while Jun, Kwan and Shinji’s people fought with unbridled savagery. “The gunfire attracted them here in the first place! Stop firing!” Shinji ordered, with Shoji shouting, fully panicked “Then how shall we beat these monsters? You are outnumbered Shinji!” The former grinned and replied after killing a walker “That’s what Jun and his friends are for, Sensei!” The killing of the dead continued until a single walker remained. Shinji and Tomoko smiled at each other and stabbed it in the head at the same time causing the corpse to plop on the ground. The group huffed and wheezed, while the villagers slowly came out of their homes, seeing the carnage before them. Suddenly a single walker growl alerted them, and the company turned to find the corpse of Gabe had reanimated, and was now slowly shambling towards them. Emiko felt tears roll down her face, but she walked up to the body of her former friend and stabbed him in the head, gently lowering the loose corpse on the ground. Sensei Shoji walked up to the body, and then looked at the Buddha statue in the center of the village. “He shall be welcomed with open arms in the presence of the Buddha, along with his forefathers and their forefathers. Do not be overcome with grief my dear: you two will meet again in the hereafter, and no longer be burdened by the worries of this world” he said comfortingly to a sobbing Emiko, while Jun and the others lowered their weapons. Kwan, Dr. Hwang, Kuma and Shinsuke watched, their new friends paying respects to a grieving Emiko one by one. Shinji approached Kwan and said softly “He was my friend…” hanging his head in sadness. Kwan spoke up, replying gently “If he was your friend…then we shall grieve as if he was our own kin” with Kwan going to pay his respects to the fallen comrade first. Tomoko approached Shinji, along with Jun and Sung-Min, who watched as Sensei Shoji blessed the body, and sung a low hymn, causing the village to become somber. The night quickly came, with a row of candles lit in remembrance of the man. Sensei Shoji looked up towards Jun, who was in the back trying to not be overly obvious. “You…you came here and now we are safe from harm. So…Gabe here was your friend…no?” Shinji looked at Jun who nodded and muttered “He was family” as Shinji, Tomoko, Emiko, Dr. Moon and Hua-Ji lifted the body onto a board and carried him to a pyre. Shoji put his hand warmly on Jun’s should and motioned for him to follow, as the villagers gathered to pay final respects to Gabe. ================================================= Later that night, Tomoko looked at Rokaru’s corpse in the grave, remarking coldly “I am not saddened by his loss, Shinji. He was a traitor, and a murderer who wanted to sell us to the Korean and Chinese, so I am not losing sleep over his execution. But I will be by your friend’s arrival and having to gun those Koreans down” Shinji watched as the corpses lay supine across the cold ground, the smell of winter slowly setting in wafting in the wind. “It had to be done. Trust me, this is not the first time they’ve done things like this. Tomoko shot him a worried look, with Shinji reassuring her “They’re good people, Tomoko. I trust Jun with my life” Tomoko stoically stared at the corpse, and commented “I just hope your trust doesn’t get more people killed…” ================================================== Jun sat down, with the rest of his group waiting outside that morning. Sensei Shoji poured him a cup of barley tea, never breaking eye contact as Jun took the cup and drank it, sighing as the warm liquid lightened his spirit. “Jun Kikoda Masumoto, right?” Shoji asked, with the younger man replying “Yes sir. I am here on behalf of my group, asking for your blessing to stay here, away from the horrors the outside world shows us” Shoji himself took a sip of tea, and wiped the excess off the edge of his bottom lip. “What could you have to offer us? I am not trying to reduce your contributions as of late, but while Shinji and his team immediately proved themselves as valuable additions here, your group might be more difficult to integrate” Jun cricked his neck. “I am not one to make shit up, sensei. We are a varied team of both fighters and providers, who will do anything you ask us” Sensei Shoji poured himself another cup of tea and drank it, all the while observing Jun’s slight impatience. “That is what you would call BULLSHIT. You have been out there long enough to realize the need to put on a friendly demeanor and face, especially if it rewards you in the end. So let me ask you again…what can you do to provide for us?” The younger man sighed and answered the question with “Everything, really. We can go out on runs, help with crops and defend your people from both the living and the dead. We are very well versed in killing both” Shoji raised an eyebrow and sweetly replied “Not something you proudly advertise to a potential leader now, isn’t it? But no matter…you killed those Koreans and then the dead who followed. Still, I would rather have an innate grasp on the people I am talking to, rather than doing a crude interview. So Jun, how many people are in your immediate family?” “My girlfriend, my adopted daughter and my mother, sensei. The rest of the group are people I have lived with and fought with these past 65 days” Shoji choked on the tea he was drinking and sputtered “65 days? It’s been 70…already 70 days into the end and people are killing each other and creating makeshift armies. When society fell it certainly fell quickly, almost as if we are preprogrammed to react to such an event, don’t you think?” Jun nodded and looked out the window. “People deep down are in it for themselves, doing whatever they need to in order to survive out there” Shoji looked Jun in the eye and bluntly replied “Is that what this is? Playing me to survive? Because despite my gentle nature and your connection to Shinji, don’t underestimate my resolve. Screw this up or try something out of line, and I will have you killed. My people come first, and until you are fully integrated here, you are not going to be fully trusted. I won’t allow you to rampage through here getting people killed” Jun leaned forward and angrily hissed “I am not that kind of man! I will do whatever it takes to keep EVERYONE here alive, no matter the cost. I was raised to be a man of my word, and I am not going to betray my teachings now” The elder leaned back and rubbed his beard, observing that Jun’s face was filled with sincerity. “You seem genuine…so you have passed the test. You could have lied, but you didn’t. What did you used to do before this Jun?” Jun bit his lip and answered “I was a college student, going for my degree in business…obviously I never got that far” Shoji smirked and asked “Yet for being a mere college student, you fight like a soldier. I take it the world molded you into what you are now?” with Jun nodding in response. “Well then…your job, if you want it, is to fill in our now vacant chief of security. What do you say, Mr. Masumoto?” Jun half smiled and extended a hand. “When do I start, sensei?” Shoji stoically handed Jun a clipboard and smiled, replying “I have a few people for you to meet first. But for now, we should both begin by settling your people in and getting them integrated with my people. We can’t bridges until we have a team, now can we?” =============================== Dr. Hwang entered the sterile, tiled infirmary and was immediately greeted by an impatient Dr. Yoshi, his arms filled with numerous white and chrome items. “And who are you supposed to be?” he demanded. Dr. Hwang smiled and extended a hand. “I am the new night shift doctor. Sensei Shoji promoted me to this position to ease your duties” Dr. Yoshi stared at her, muttering to himself “He did? Well…I guess I am going to have to be accepting of this confounded arrangement, aren’t I?” He then walked away, leaving the woman to clear her throat and follow Dr. Yoshi as she saw Takeshi sitting on a bed, his scarred stump being examined by the doctor. “So are you sure the prosthetic will fit?” Takeshi asked, with Dr. Yoshi replying “It will since I am making it for you. It will be fitted with crude electrodes and leads, allowing you to use the fingers somewhat efficiently. It won’t be like your original hand, but then again an artist can never emulate nature one hundred percent” Takeshi rolled his eyes and watched as the white plastic sleeve was slipped over his arm, with wires being stuck onto the back of his neck. The white and chrome hand’s fingers moved slightly as Takeshi scrunched his face, trying to move the digits. Eventually he slammed his hand down on the table and yelled angrily. Dr. Hwang sat next to the old man, and comfortingly ran her hand across his back. “It will take time to get used to the attachment, so be patient, okay?” Dr. Yoshi gawked at the interaction and blurted “Well I guess I am now obsolete? Or are you just being nice to the cripple?” Takeshi shot him an angry look and told the other doctor “Thank you my dear. Now, hopefully I won’t break this thing trying to eat and kill the dead. Be a shame to ruin Picasso’s shitty art wouldn’t it?” ======================================= Jae Eun and Esther walked into their apartment, noticing the décor and furniture that was in the living room. A television, a stove and a large mauve couch with 2 red chairs. Jae Eun smiled and allowed Esther to walk around the place, finding a small room filled with books, toys and a child’s bed. Her mother grinned as Esther picked up a doll and immediately hugged it. “I love this place mom! Can we stay here?” Esther begged, with Jae Eun nodding, prompting the little girl to pounce on her bed. Jun entered his new home and looked around, his mouth slightly open as he noticed every piece of furniture and decoration. “Holy shit” he murmured, with Jae Eun wrapping her arms around his waist. “Well…you have a home at last, with a family to inhabit it. And no down payment required!” Jun chuckled and scooped up Esther, retorting “Not exactly the circumstances I was hoping for, but at least I have everyone safe in here” Haruna opened the door to her apartment, a smaller space with two rooms joined together by a medium sized living room and kitchen. She looked around and smiled, dropping her bags and sitting on the couch nearby. Shinsuke walked into the Gym, finding an assortment of exercise equipment and tools. Kuma joined him, grinning as he picked up a 10 pound weight and began to make arm curls, with Shinsuke lying down on a weight rack and lifting the bar. Kasune knocked on Sung-Min’s door, and was soon greeted by the man himself. “Hey…what’s up?” he asked her, with Kasune replying “I need to talk to you for a bit, if that’s okay with you?”Sung-Min nodded, and Kasune entered his quarters, a small apartment with sparse trimmings. “Kind of small and barren isn’t it?” she remarked, with Sung-Min commenting “I am not a materialistic person. Besides, they were fresh out of smutty magazines and cat photos” Kasune laughed and then handed him a pack of cigarettes. “I heard you liked these, so I got them from the depot…” Sung-Min took the pack and sniffed the rows of paper tubes. “GOD I missed that smell…” he took one and lit it, taking a single puff. “Want one?” he offered her, with Kasune taking a cigarette. She and he puffed on the tubes, when Sung-Min blurted “So why did you come here?” Kasune lowered her cigarette and took a deep breath. “I am interested in you. You are the one person I am compatible with, and I think-” “Stop” Sung-Min interrupted, with Kasune recoiling in shock. “Look, you are the perfect package…smart, kind and sexy as hell. But Kasune, I already had someone I loved. And she is dead…I am not ready to move on” Kasune held back tears and rebutted “Wouldn’t Akiko want you to move on already?” Sung-Min shook his head. “Maybe, but I can’t…I won’t…I’m sorry Kasune, but I am not ready” Kasune sniffed and forced a smile. “Okay…we are still friends though, I hope?” Sung-Min ran a hand down her cheek. “I will always be by your side, Kasune. Finish your cigarette at least…shame to let it go to waste” ================================= Kwan sat down with Shinji and extended a hand. “Kwan P’yon, nice to meet you” Shinji took his hand and squinted at the man. “You rescued Jun and Jae Eun?” Kwan nodded, replying “We were attempting to find the Shinda, but we ran into him and his lovely girlfriend first. Ever since we have been on the road” Shinji leaned close to him. “So let me get this straight: you have yourself, a Korean army man, the Chinese doctor, and then the other two…who the hell are they?” Kwan chuckled. “Shinsuke Goro was a major wrestler supposedly. I never heard of him, but the way he bragged about his career you would think I watched all his battles. He is a brash asshole with no filter, but her means well enough. Kuma is a different story…” Shinji raised an eyebrow. “From what Shinsuke told me, he was beaten as a child because he was born from a black father and Japanese mother. He’s smart, borderline genius, but he is always quiet and keeps to himself. I will say however, I have seen him cut a swath through a sizable herd of the dead without any issues. He respects Jun, as do all of my people” They looked up to see Tomoko approach them and ask playfully “I am going to watch the child’s stage play in a moment. Want to join me?” Kwan and Shinji nodded, with Tomoko winking at Shinji. Kwan slid his eyes cheekily at the other man, remarking smoothly “She is a fine woman, friend” Shinji scoffed and began to follow Tomoko, remarking “And she knows it too” =============================================== Later that night Shoji sat down with Jun, Shinji and Kwan, pouring each man a cup of barley tea. “The tea is something I used to hate drinking” Shoji explained “Even when I was a child. I would have rather drank fruit juice or soda pop instead, but my father insisted I drink it. Over the years, I began to grow a fondness to the stuff. It’s rich in anti-oxidants and prevents cancerous effects from occurring. Hence my…continual habit of drinking this tea” Jun turned the cup in his palm three times, as did Shinji and Kwan, all of whom received a pleased nod from Shoji. “I brought you three gentlemen here to ask you a question that is vital to our survival. I already know Shinji’s answer, but I need Mr. Masumoto and Mr. P’yon’s answers. You have lived in the wilderness before, killed and destroyed other’s who crossed your paths. Used gun, knife and other weapons to slay both the living and the dead, and lost many comrades in the journey. So tell me this, so I may rest my head peacefully at night…if the time comes, will you kill invaders, raiders, and other such people who threaten our way of life, as well as the ever present dead who fill our cities? Will you be willing to take lives but in the process become one with the violence we all face? Are you all ready to do that? This isn’t a pass or fail question...I need to know” Jun looked at both Kwan and Shinji, and cleared his throat. “Anyone who tries to take this place is going to end up dead. Nothing will ever come through those gates that don’t belong. NOTHING” Shoji leaned back and let loose a deep sigh. “I don’t doubt you in the slightest, but if things keep getting worse out there as I have heard it has, you may end up regretting that promise” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: Jun and his group adjust to their new lives, as relationships grow closer.

NEW CAST: Bokoro – Kobayashi Katsuya Fujita Shoji – Morita Myuta SUMMARY: Jun and his group adjust to their new lives, as relationships grow closer.
Episode 410- The Pagoda
The truck pulled up to the shopping center, whose entrance was once covered over with a wrecked helicopter but had since been cleared out, allowing entry into the decaying building. Jun, Ronin, Fujita, Tomoko, Emiko and a local by the name of Bokoro, a man with a thick mop of hair on his head, climbed out of the truck and went to the entrance. Ronin banged on the window, with Bokoro and Fujita looking at him with confusion. “It’s so that way we can draw them out” explained Jun, while Ronin peered through the dirty window. “I see about three of them. I’ll wait until more come” Bokoro saw a walker approaching them and stabbed it in the head with a makeshift spear, getting blood on his leather shoes. Fujita played with the revolver in his hand, checking the ammo obsessively. “Kid please don’t do that” warned Ronin who raised a singular eyebrow. “Why not? Its better I know how much ammo I have before I get into a fight, right?” Ronin took the gun and pointed to a dark spot on the nickel plating. “That’s corrosion. It will screw up the mechanisms and cause a jam. Try not to touch the chamber, otherwise, a thin layer of rust will form, every time you touch it…I’ve seen a gun blow up from someone fingering it too much” Emiko snickered, and Jun snorted at the comment. “Y-you’re punking me, aren’t you?” Fujita asked, receiving a cheeky smile from Ronin. Soon a bang was heard and then four walkers were soon beating against the Plexiglass window, snarling and clawing at the out of reach people. After they were killed Jun and Tomoko grabbed a pair of shopping carts and wheeled them up to the group. “Let’s fill these up today. We need clothes, toys for the kids, food, water, medicine-” Tomoko interrupted “So everything. Gotcha” she smiled at a grumbling Jun and went inside the building. The inside was dark, save for several windows that allowed sunlight in, showing the surprisingly intact store. Bokoro and Jun went to grab any food items, finding several cans, bags, boxes and crates filled with foodstuffs. “Jackpot!” noted Jun, picking up a Ramune pop bottle. Meanwhile, Ronin and Emiko went to the small clothing department, finding several shirts, pants, belts and dresses just sitting there untouched. Ronin picked up a sundress, made from warm blue cloth. “That’s not exactly your style, Ronin, but hey you could pull it off” teased Emiko. Ronin chuckled. “It’s for someone back home, actually. I just hope she likes it” Emiko frowned. “How do you know her size?” she asked, receiving a devious grin from Ronin in return. Tomoko and Fujita searched the rest of the store, finding isopropyl alcohol, painkillers, bandages and more, while also finding, tucked under a shelving unit, a discarded shotgun. Tomoko pulled it out, with Fujita gasping “I bet that’s a police issue rifle!” Tomoko nodded and released a single shell, catching it in her hand. “Jun” Tomoko issued through the radio “We have looted all the medical items here. Toys and other goodies next?” on the other end the radio crackled “Yeah sure. I need to grab something…personal from that area anyways. We’ll meet at the entrance” Jun walked over to the medical department, breaking into the contraceptives case and pulling out several boxes of what appeared to be pregnancy tests. He looked up to find Tomoko watching him. “So…are you trying to have children?” she point blank asked, receiving a nod. “Jae Eun and I are safe now. I think it’s time maybe we should begin a new life…with our own children” Tomoko squinted at Jun, asking “Is Esther not enough for you?” Jun looked at her and exclaimed “That’s not what I meant! Look, I have a feeling things are going to get better for us. I want to build a life, and start anew. I didn’t mean to come across as unthankful” Tomoko smiled and patted his cheek. “Don’t worry I wasn’t being critical. I was messing with you. Now hurry up before it gets dark and we head home blind” Jun nodded, reaching into a jewelry case and pulling out a small box, stuffing it in his pocket unnoticed. ===================================================== Back home, Sung-Min and Kwan watched as the delivery of toys and clothing was distributed amongst the children, all of whom joyfully ran off with the new figures and vehicles they now owned. Esther was given a doll named Hitomi, dressed in a traditional kimono which she loved. As the kids played with the gifts, Sung-min leaned over to Kwan and commented in Korean “I never thought I would see this happen. Kids being kids, like before all this happened. Seems too good to be true” Kwan nodded, smiling as a kid kicked a ball towards him, with the older man playfully punting the ball away. “I know. It’s a sign of better things to come I hope. Maybe…maybe Hwang and I can settle down. Have children and begin a new life” Sung-Min shrugged. “Why not? You can do that now I think, now that you have walls, food, shelter, everything a person needs to survive all right here. I’d say go for it man” Meanwhile, Ronin softly tapped Haruna on her shoulder, getting her attention. “Haruna, I saw this…and I thought you would like it. I think it’s in your size” he meekly explained, handing her the dress. Haruna gasped and smiled widely. “You shouldn’t have! But pray tell, why give an old woman a gift like this?” Ronin smiled and replied “To me, you aren’t old. And I got it because you deserve it” Haruna gently pushed Ronin behind a building and looked around, seeing no one. She then kissed him deeply, looking into his eyes afterwards. “You are such a bullshitter. But damn, I do love you anyways” she whispered. Ronin smiled and replied softly “I know I am…” As she ran her hand down his tattooed chest she noticed the wolf tooth dangling from a string. “I never noticed this on you before…where was this from?” Ronin took the necklace and rubbed it between his fingers. “When I escaped the Shinda, I encountered Dr. Mesuji and killed her. I then…became lost, fighting the dead and the living. This was a token of all I went through just to survive. I almost died, and yet I lived when others didn’t” Haruna somberly commented “Well don’t think like that. You are here now, and to me thats all that matters, okay?” Ronin smiled weakly and nodded, as Haruna pecked him on the lips once more. =============================================================== Shinji raised his boken, with Kuma and his other students doing the same. “Never allow the weight of your weapon to lessen your grip or balance. You will become vulnerable, and foes will take advantage of that. Never waver, and never be unwilling to expose yourself even if the scene is serene” One student, a cute woman with a button nose, asked “But why are we using bokens and not guns?” Tomoko, who was watching from the other side of the Gazebo, pulled out a BB gun she got from the mall and aimed it at her. “Disarm me” she ordered, which the woman did with ease. “Against guns, we are to use our wits. But against melee weapons, or the dead, we use skill to win. Guns are important, but there will come a time when the last bullet is fired, and we have to use other means to defend ourselves. This is for that time” Kuma smiled and relaxed his stance, with Shinji giving him a single nod. ======================================================== Shinsuke, in the small gym set up in the basement of one of the buildings lifted a barbell, the weight alone causing him to huff and grunt. Kasune, while holding a stop watch shouted “AND NOW!” with the wrestler dropping the weight on the floor. “Hell yeah!” he screamed, throwing a fist in the air. Kasune rolled her eyes, which Shinsuke noticed. “What?” he asked irritably, receiving nothing in response. “Sorry…it’s an old force of habit. Whenever a big match was set, I would spend hours each day pumping iron, hyping myself up for the fight. Everyone thought the girls, money and fame was what I was wanting, and don’t get me wrong the girls were a huge plus, as was the money, but what I wanted was acceptance. I am loud, and I am brash, but it’s who I am, and to my fans it didn’t matter” Kasune raised an eyebrow. “Why are you confessing this to me right now?” Shinsuke sighed and took a swig of water from a bottle. “Because now that I am with Kwan and Jun’s group, I feel like I am part of something better. Like I am helping out for once. And being here in this place makes me wonder if my usefulness will be forgotten” Kasune tossed him a towel and smiled. “You are a warrior, Shinsuke. You’re heroism has done much to help us live through the world’s horror’s. And you being here with us now shows me that Kwan and Jun consider you a valuable member of the group. And hey, maybe the people here were fans of you, who knows?” The wrestler shrugged and stood, sweat dripping off his chest, making Kasune cover her eyes. “But first I would clean up. You’re making a mess!” ============================================== Jun and Shinji went to the nearby orchard to go pick fruit, giving them time to catch up. “So Shinji, where did you and Emiko meet? I don’t remember seeing her on the Shinda?” Shinji paused and looked Jun in the eyes. “She was a JOC soldier whom I rescued. She saved my life numerous times, and for that I owe her” Jun was appalled and yelped “She is a JOC? Why didn’t you kill her? She is our enemy!” Shinji barked angrily “WAS! She isn’t evil, JUN! What about your friends, huh? A Japanese wrestler no one watched, a mute, a Chinese doctor and a Korean soldier. Am I to trust them?” his friend hung his head. “Yeah you are…because I trust them” Shinji half smiled and threw a rotten peach to the ground. “Then that’s the same reason you should trust Emiko. Because I trust her and Dr. Moon” They picked more peaches and apples, when Jun started laughing. “I have to be honest man, I would never have thought of the rich kid Shinji Akai being a warrior leader. Do you remember that girl from Okinawa, the one with the revealing clothes?” His friend smiled. “How could I forget? She was always having the boys hounding her for dates. Except you…you always said you would ask out Jae Eun. Now you two are a couple…funny how the world brings people together?” Jun smiled and plopped a peach in the basket. “I never thought I would be with her…but now that I am, I don’t worry about how I dress, or how awkward I act. I worry about keeping her alive” Shinji’s air became sober. “Remember Ruto? Remember how he always ate peanuts and bragged about his hacking skills? I wonder if he made it out alive” His friend climbed down the small ladder and sighed. “I miss him, that’s for sure, but no use in drowning in nostalgia” Shinji chuckled. “Isn’t that what we are doing right now?” The chat was stopped by a single walker who lumbered up to them, snarling and clawing. Jun walked up to it and stabbed it in the head, dropping it. He looked through its pockets and pulled out a wallet filled with family pictures and moments. “I wonder if he was happy back then, or these tried to convince him he was happy” Shinji walked up to Jun and looked at the photos, looking down grimly at the corpse. “Well, at least he joined his family a while ago. I…would like to take this back and bury it, as a reminder of who he was” Jun looked at the corpse and asked “You don’t want to bury the body?” with his friend replying “That wasn’t this man in the photos. He died a long time ago, alone and scared. It’s the least I can do” ================================================= Jun entered his apartment suite and sat down, relaxing on the small sofa leaning against the wall. Jae Eun walked in, her hair freshly dyed with highlights of blue, purple and green. “Well” she asked, twirling around playfully “What do you think?” Jun smiled and replied “You look amazing babe…I forgot you used to have highlights, since everything happened” Jae Eun was not bothered and pointed to the small room next to the kitchen. “Esther is asleep at the moment. She had so much fun playing with the toys we brought!” Jun reclined on the sofa, patting the seat next to him. Jae Eun sat and snuggled close to his arm, sighing happily. “Look at this…a house, a kid, everything we both never thought would happen in a million years” Jae Eun exclaimed, touching Jun’s cheek. Her lover smiled and commented “I turned 20 yesterday…I think. I’ve lost track of days, so it’s a rough calculation” Jae Eun grinned and kissed him on the cheek, flirtatiously cooing “Maybe a little celebration is in order?” as she revealed a pink bra strap on her shoulder. Jun smiled and held up a hand. “I need to talk to you about something…it’s important” Jae Eun straightened her posture, with her face growing serious. “Look…we have been together through some of the worst things imaginable. Seen people we know die and suffer. You saw me nearly die, and yet here we are, sitting on a comfy, yet ugly sofa” Jae Eun laughed and noticed Jun taking her hand in his. “On the Shinda, we talked about building a life together, starting our relationship in full. I said no not because I didn’t want to have a life with you, but because I felt like I wasn’t worthy, or ready. I do now, and I want you and Esther to be in my life forever” Jae Eun smiled, a single tear rolling down her cheek. “I do too. I’ve wanted it ever since this started. But...why are you telling me this? Aren’t we already happy and starting a life here?” Jun sat up, with Jae Eun following his lead and replied “Mostly. But…I finally figured why my dad was never home. He always told me it was work related, that his military service was to take precedence over our family. But that was not true…he was like that because he was afraid to hurt our family…I realize that now, and it took far longer to realize that then it should have” He took a deep breath and knelt down, pulling out a small cloth covered box with a single silver band across the top. He opened the box, revealing a gold ring adorned with a single piece of red jade, shaped like an open blossom. Jae Eun gasped and instantly tears welled up in her eyes, her breaths becoming sudden and sharp. “Oh my god” she said between breaths as Jun finally asked: “Jae Eun Rhee, will you marry me?” Jae Eun restrained a squeal and yelped happily “YES! OH GOD YES I WILL!” Jun nervously smiled as he slid the ring on her finger, with his fiancé now jumping up and down, her hand covering her mouth. She then babbled something in Korean, causing Jun to frown slightly. Jae Eun sighed happily and commented “I was saying, I have never been so happy in my life” She then kissed Jun deeply, pushing him onto the sofa as she climbed on top of him, ripping off his shirt. “I thought this came after the wedding” Jun remarked, with Jae Eun unbuttoning her top and saying “The old rules are dead. Besides, traditions get stale after a while” as she then reached for his belt. ================================== Shinji walked up to Tomoko, handing her a tiny bottle of sweet milk. “Yulko milk, your favorite” he commented, with Tomoko taking the bottle and taking a swig. She gasped and tossed the bottle aside. “It’s out of date, dummy” she said, causing Shinji to toss his bottle also. Tomoko smiled and said “I appreciate the thought though. Please, sit and watch the moon” The moon was full, illuminated as if it were covered in white gold. “It’s beautiful” Shinji remarked with Tomoko nodding in response. She then adjusted her posture and remarked “I am not the most gentile person here as you might have noticed” Shinji smirked and commented “Yeah I’ve noticed. But to be honest, it’s refreshing to see. It makes you more genuine and sincere…I like that to be honest” Tomoko nodded once and looked at the moon again, the sound of crickets now slowly dying away, giving way instead to the hollow sound of winters chill. The air was beginning to get chilly, causing Tomoko to shiver slightly. “So since you know I am brusque, I should also warn you I can be very impulsive around people I like. So…yeah” She then leaned over and grabbed Shinji’s cheeks with both her hands, kissing his lips. Shinji’s eyes flew open and he pushed her away, yelping “Whoa! Where did that come from?” Tomoko gasped, her face looking hurt. “I…I thought you…” she stammered, looking around her embarrassed at what happened. “Tomoko wait” Shinji exclaimed, noticing tears streaming down her face. He took the cuff of his shirt and wiped away the tears, smiling as he brushed the red hair away from her eyes. “I didn’t mean to act that way…I was just shocked you did that…” Tomoko sniffed and remarked “I meant it. I have known you for a week, but during that week, I have felt something for you I never felt before…something towards you I rarely feel now. I just didn’t know how to express it…” Shinji leaned in and kissed her, with Tomoko melting in his embrace. The moon illuminated them on the top of the Pagoda, with the rest of the Garden now sleeping as moonlight silence surrounded the settlement.
Meanwhile, Ronin sat alone in his room, with Haruna sleeping in the bed next to him as he watched the moon. He looked down at his scars and tattoos, and felt a sense of accomplishment that he was finally a part of something. Haruna sleepily muttered “Come to bed…I want you with me” prompting Ronin to turn to her and join her in bed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: Jun and his group continue to settle into their new home, with a scouting party coming across a new face.

NEW CAST: Daichi Kodomo - Hosogai Kei Mama-Sawaguchi Yasuko Akira - Takeru Satoh
SUMMARY: Jun and his group continue to settle into their new home, with a scouting party coming across a new face.
Episode 411 – That was not us
Takeshi entered the depot, ringing the overhead bell in the process as he opened the door. He looked around and saw that Mama was nowhere to be found. Then he was greeted with a cheery “Hello there! Why you must be one of the new people who arrived 5 days ago!” Takeshi politely bowed and handed her a piece of paper which she took. Mama read the note and gave him a confused look. “Are you sure you need this much beer? I mean, no one really drinks it, sure, but 24 bottles is a lot” Takeshi lugged a crate full of sealed batteries or varying sizes on the countertop and smiled. “I think this is a good trade, no?” Takeshi walked out of the depot, his crate of beer being drug along by a small wagon be found. As he opened the door to his apartment, he noticed a man run up to him and huff “Mr. Murano? Sensei Shoji wishes to talk to you” Takeshi nodded, plopping the crate inside his house and then walked to Shoji’s office. Meanwhile, Jun walked along the wall’s catwalk, looking over the fence and seeing only one or two walkers in the immediate area. One of the guards, a pretty yet stern woman named Naoko approached him, saluting him. “I am not a military man Naoko, so no need for that” Naoko lowered her arm and replied “Sir, I was in the JSDF reserve when this happened, so old habits die hard I guess. I wanted to ask if you need any more supply running members. Do you?” Jun shook his head. “Not really. Shoji wants us to have smaller and less frequent runs, so as we may avoid undue attention from outside forces…or from the dead” Naoko nodded, a slight hint of disappointment in her face. “Don’t worry, I am sure Hua-Ji or Tomoko will need help sometime soon” Ronin checked his wound, the bandages now no longer oozing or seeping blood. Haruna walked up to him, wrapped in a towel as he was examining his cut. “Scars look amazing on a man…trust me, the ladies would be all over that” she teased, with Ronin sarcastically replying “Too bad. I would hate to go from a 1 to a 2” Haruna laughed and ran a hand down his chest. “You are a better man than you let yourself believe you are. Don’t be so hard on yourself” She then dropped the towel, with Ronin raising a pleased eyebrow. Shinsuke and Kuma were busy with the building crew assembling a new houses foundation, with Shinsuke lifting large bags of cement into the mixer. Kuma remarked “Kioko is here” Shinsuke wiped the sweat off his brow and noticed Kioko nervously approach him. “Hey…I thought you were hungry, so I made you some food. I cooked it myself Think of it as a thank you gift for saving my life” she handed him a large bowl of noodles swimming amongst an ocean of beefy broth. Shinsuke smiled, replying “I think it was the other way around, with you getting us here and saving our sorry handsome asses” and took a sip of the broth, the liquid tasting absolutely awful, as if an entire block of salt was used. Shinsuke swallowed the broth and forced a grin. “It’s very good…thank you” Kioko blushed and ran towards the main village center, while Shinsuke poked at the noodles with his chopsticks. Kuma snickered, with the wrestler barking “Dude, please” as he forced down another gulp of the horrid broth. ================================================ Kwan and Tomoko geared up, with the latter grabbing a pistol, a small hunting rifle and Honor, while the former loaded a SCAR rifle and his two tone Beretta. They exited the gates and waved at Jun and Emiko as they walked deep into the woods. They arrived at a small yet new hotel built before everything happened. Inside the reception area was a single walker, dressed in mere rags. Tomoko killed it and looked around inside, while Kwan scouted the rooms. Out of 30 rooms only 1 was booked, due to the newness of the place, with a walker banging against the door from the inside. Tomoko tossed Kwan a water bottle and pointed to the door, now shuddering with each hit. “Looks like someone is unhappy. You want to kill it or shall I?” she asked with Kwan shaking his head. “It’s not hurting anyone right now. I’ll kill it before we leave, okay?” They looked inside the hotel room, finding only tiny bags of mixed snacks and water bottles, when suddenly Kwan snapped his fingers in excitement. “We need new mattresses for the building being constructed near the south wall, right? Why not use these? It’s not like they have ever been used…hell I doubt someone has ever even screwed on these” Tomoko slowly nodded. “Yeah, but how would we get them there? Almost all our vehicles are for evacuation or crop transport…unless…” She looked outside a window, finding a large moving truck parked alongside the building. “Maybe we could clean that out and use that to move these?” Kwan peered outside and remarked “Let’s hope there is still fuel in the tank” Kwan went outside and checked the truck, finding the keys in the glove-box and plenty of fuel in the tank. He started the truck and the vehicle grumbled to life, with Kwan raising a fist in excitement. He then noticed shouting from outside, prompting him to radio Tomoko “Is that coming from your end?” The woman on the other end replied “Nope, I was going to check it out” Kwan and Tomoko met, and snuck around to the other-side of the building, finding a Chinese soldier holding a man at gunpoint, shouting in Japanese “You assholes are trying to rob us again! We killed your leader and yet you still act like you are hot shit!” The person, a younger man with long black hair tied in a ponytail wearing what appeared to be a suit vest with a light leather coat over it, remarked “Hey, we are going to deliver you the goods! Just relax man!” The soldier laughed and racked a shot, aiming down the sights. Before Kwan could kill the soldier with his rifle the man spun and drew his own katana, slicing the gun in half as well as the man’s head. He sheathed his sword and turned to walk away, before stopping. “I can see you two watching me you know” he loudly exclaimed, with Tomoko and Kwan stepping out from behind the building. “How did you know about us?” Kwan asked, with the man shrugging. “One smell was a light feminine smell, the other reeked of kimchi. So…two people by my counts” Kwan looked at the man with indigence while Tomoko commented “You have a sword? And you are skilled with it?” The man shrugged. “I raided a rich man’s home during the chaos. Found this and plenty of cash, but this has proven to be a much better investment. And to think, most American Weebs think everyone has swords” Tomoko circled the man, asking “What is your name? Mine is Tomoko, and this is Kwan” The man bowed theatrically, and introduced himself with: “My name Akiranoro Oroku, but my friends call me Akira. Why? I have no clue actually…maybe it’s because people are lazy” Kwan cleared his throat. “Look mister actor, we are glad you haven’t killed us and all, but if you will excuse us we need to load some stuff up” Akira perked his ears up. “The hotel here has nothing of value except crappy peanuts…unless you are taking the beds with you…” Tomoko and Kwan turned at the same time, with Kwan inquiring “Why would we take those?” Akira gestured to the building with his hand, “See, when raiders or hungry people look for supplies, like I DO, they search food marts, malls, warehouses and other such places looking for food and other needed items. But a hotel has nothing of value to offer, unless it is brand new, like this one. Plenty of fresh, unsoiled beds for the taking” Tomoko shrugged “We will leave you one if you want. That of course depends on if you play nice and don’t attack us” Akira smiled at her, “I wouldn’t dream of that, miss. Well…leave me one and I will let you be. See you later friends!” he turned to leave, with Kwan watching him as he vanished into the bushes. “Weirdo” he commented, heading inside the hotel. That night, after they loaded the truck with the mattresses, they settled down in the hotel, using a small heat lamp to warm themselves as they laid down two sleeping bags. “Should have taken a mattress” Tomoko grunted, with Kwan replying “Yeah no. We have only two left, the one next door and the one our dead friend inhabits. So sleeping bags it is” Tomoko snuggled down and used one of the pillows from the beds to rest her head. “Kwan, since we are here, tell me how you got here?” Kwan rolled over and looked at her. “Why?” “Because” she insisted “I like to know things about my supply running partners” The Korean sighed and looked at the pale pink ceiling, now covered in shadows. “I umm…left South Korea during the worst of the outbreak. Only had a few things with me, all of which I traded for food, water, ammo…shelter. I traded my father’s pocket knife for a can of spicy tuna, and my mother’s jade and pearl earrings for a clip of ammo. I had to make it…so I stowed away on a cargo ship heading for Japan illegally. I got off and Japan was already collapsing, so I just hid with the other stowaways while the JSDF burned their large cities to the ground. We came out of the shipping crate and saw the ashes and ruins now overrun with the dead” He stopped, taking a long breath. “I umm, had to kill my fellow stowaways, since they were planning on killing me. So I killed them in their sleep, one by one. I don’t regret it…eventually I arrived and met up with Shinsuke, Kuma and Dr. Hwang, and the rest is history” Tomoko blinked and raked the hair away from her eyes. “I was with my father and mother when the outbreak happened. The JSDF were killing anyone they thought were infected, and we stayed hidden in a sewer drainage tunnel for days.” “My father” she continued “gave me his sword, something he bought as a gift for my brother, Jyona, but he never got to give it to him. Both my parents died from a herd swarming them while I was trapped behind a barricade of cars. I couldn’t do anything to stop it from happening. I still…I still hear their screams and the sound of the dead tearing them apart” Kwan somberly looked at her. “I am so sorry that happened to you…” Tomoko swallowed and continued “I was found by Shoji when he and Rokaru asked if I wanted to join them to find a new home. I had nothing to lose, so I said yes. Now…I finally have a home and family I love” She turned away from him, sleepily muttering “Good night Kwan” with Kwan merely answering in return “Night Tomoko” That morning, Tomoko awoke to find a walker banging against the outside window, alerting Kwan as well. “Dammit I was sleeping so well” he grumbled “what time is it anyways?” Tomoko glanced at her watch. “It’s half past 6 AM. We should get moving” Kwan gathered his things and stepped outside, finding a walker sliced to bits on the ground. “That was not us…” he looked around to find the area completely deserted. “Think this was the work of our friend Akira blade?” Tomoko joked, with Kwan shrugging. They then heard the truck start and watched as the moving van roared out of the driveway and tore down the road. Tomoko aimed his rifle and fired at the driver side seat, missing all his shots. “He stole the damn mattresses” Tomoko fumed as they chased after the truck. ======================================== Meanwhile at The Garden, Jun approached Sensei Shoji and pulled him aside. “Sensei, I was wondering if it would be possible for you to wed Jae Eun and I within this year” Shoji smiled warmly and answered in a fatherly manner “Congratulations! I would be honored to perform the ceremony. Tell me, what triggered this decision?” Jun looked at his feet and replied “I found a home finally. I figured now was the time to settle down and start a family” Shoji stood and handed Jun a large Kimono. “This is a traditional wedding Kimono worn by the royal family for special occasions. We found several sets of these during our initial search of the premises. I think for your wedding, such a set is only proper” Jun took the Kimono and looked it over, the smooth silk sitting softly in his hands. “Sensei…but why?” Shoji smiled and patted Jun on the shoulder. “You saved us. Think of this as a small measure of our repayment for your current and past services” Jun nodded and left the room, noticed by Ronin who simply grinned and walked into the armory. Inside Daichi was watching Jun with a look of disappointment. “Why do the hot ones always have to be attached to a woman? OH… sorry about that, what I can do for you hun?” Ronin slid him a small piece of paper, and asked “I want my Dragon pistol and a Colt Law Enforcement Carbine with an EO tech Scope. 100 rounds of ammunition please” Daichi stared at Ronin for a bit and walked back into the armory, handing him what he was wanting. “I hope you are doing something useful with these” he muttered as he slid the weapons towards Ronin. The other man took them and said nonchalantly “I am going to go look for something. I dunno when I will be back, but it won’t be long I hope it won’t be long” He left the armory with Daichi calling out “Get me a man while you are out!” ================================================= Kwan and Tomoko eventually caught up with the truck, finding the truck parked alongside the road with a large note taped to the door: “Dear friends, I am sorry I jacked your truck, but I wanted to provide for others as well. Still, stealing is not in my nature, and since you were kind enough not to shoot me on sight, and that shows you aren’t entirely bad. So here is your stuff, minus a quarter of a tank of gasoline” Tomoko crumpled the note and fumed as she looked around, seeing nothing. Suddenly they heard a scream and ran off to its location. They came across Akira surrounded by the dead, his sword lying on the ground. Tomoko saw this and started to walk away when Kwan walked up and shot all the walkers surrounding the other man. Akira looked at them and breathed a sigh of relief. “You saved me! Look I realize you are both angry at me for stealing your beds, but where I come from, we need them too. I guess I should explain…” Tomoko and Kwan lowered their weapons while Akira continued: “I am from a small settlement about 5 miles west of here, and our community is looking to become trading partners with another group, preferably one with plenty of stock and supplies. We have tons of medical supplies and tools…too much actually for our size, and we would be willing to trade supplies for food and weapons. We aren’t going to try anything stupid, I swear” Kwan raised an eyebrow. “And how do you know we aren’t raiders? You made an assumption based on simple actions from us, and you want to trade? What is the catch, because this is too good to be true” Akira shrugged. “Well…I do have more to talk about, but maybe we can talk about the exact details when I meet with your leaders?” Kwan smiled. “Sure friend. That can be arranged” he extended a hand, which Akira took, only to get jerked forward and punched in the face hard. Kwan then knocked him out, shaking his fist from the pain. “Why did you knock him out?” Tomoko demanded “He took our stuff and his community story is pure nonsense” Kwan frowned, replying “I doubt it. It sounded too sincere, and I am usually great at reading people and their intentions. Maybe it would be for our benefit to bring him home and ask him a few pointed questions” Tomoko scowled but nodded in agreement. =============================================== Ronin arrived at the clearing, with only the sounds of birds and squirrels in the air. He knelt down and dug a small hole, placing his wolf tooth in the concave pit, and then gently pushed the dirt over it. He took a deep breath and heard a twig snap behind him. He whirled and aimed his pistol, finding Haruna standing behind him. “Why are you here?” he demanded, with the woman replying “I was curious to see where you were going…what are you doing here?” Ronin sighed. “I carried this tooth as a reminder of my hardships. I went through hell to survive, and I didn’t want to become soft. Being Yakuza you learn quickly that being a softie means you have an expiration date on your forehead. I couldn’t risk having my days numbered. But now…now that I am at The Garden, I don’t have to be like that” He stood, stamping down the loose soil with his boot. “I can become human again…maybe start a new life with the people I love” Haruna smiled and brushed his cheekbones with her hand. “Are you sure you want to be with an old bird like me? You are what, 30?” Ronin took her hand. “35. I am younger than I appear” Haruna smiled and whispered in his ear “I just turned 47. Age is just a number after all” Ronin looked her in the eyes and murmured “I wish I had known you these 35 years. Then maybe my life would have been better” Haruna smiled and kissed Ronin. ====================================== Kwan and Tomoko returned home with the moving truck that was filled with mattresses and what little supplies they had found. Jun pointed at an unconscious Akira and asked “Who the hell is that?” Kwan pulled Jun aside and replied gravely “Get Shoji and Shinji. We might have a problem here, and this guy knows the exact details” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the episode of The Walking Dead Japan: Akira meets with the community leaders at The Garden.

SUMMARY: Akira meets with the community leaders at The Garden, and a planned is formed.
Episode 412 – Darkness cometh from Light
Akira awoke tied to a chair, his head swimming from being stuck previously. “This isn’t the first time I woke up all hogtied like this” Jun plunked a chair in front of him and sat down, holding a glass of water. Akira nodded, and Jun allowed him a drink before their captive explained “Look, I get you are being protective and all, especially since I am a mere stranger to you guys, but I am not trying to pull a fast one on you” “Then why” Kwan asked from across the room “did you take the truck and leave?” Not really helping your case in the end” Akira sighed. “Okay look I took the truck because I figured you would be too busy with other things to care…but then guilt took over and I left it for you. Then I got knocked the hell out” Sensei Shoji sat down in front of Akira and held out a key. “This will unlatch the lock holding all your restraints. Answer every question and this key will set you free, I promise” Akira straightened his posture in the chair and took in a deep breath. “I come from a small community that’s based in a small military checkpoint by a main road. It’s small, only having 15 people, but we do what we can to survive. We came across a large supply of medical supplies and equipment, and now we have that which we trade for food and weapons. We are starving, and barely able to grow crops, but if we had food given to us in exchange for medical supplies, we could survive until we are able to get the planters working. At this moment a small team of mine is searching an agricultural office building for supplies, but I haven’t made contact with them. Listen, I am being honest, the least you could do is trust me” Shinji looked at Kwan and Jun, before remarking “I believe you. Sensei, I think he is in earnest” Jun and Shoji nodded with Ronin and Kwan giving them confused looks. “We should at least keep an eye on him. Make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid” Akira smiled sweetly. “I am not that kind of man, I assure you. May I have my radio?” Kwan handed him his radio and the man dialed in a frequency. “Hello, Ando? Are you there? HELLO?” the person on the other end whispered “Akira, it that you? Listen we are stuck in the building. A herd found us and trapped us in here. We cannot leave without someone drawing the dead away” Akira looked at the others and worriedly replied “Don’t worry, we will get you four out of there. Hang tight!” He clicked the device off and said to Shoji “I uh…need your help saving my people as you heard. Look I know things between us are a ten on the I-would-rather-shoot-you scale, but I am on the level when I said those things. Please!” Shoji nodded. “Alright. But I will not tolerate anything that puts my people in harm’s way. If you try anything, Jun has my blessing to blow your brains out. Go” Jun, Ronin, Sung-Min, Shinsuke, Tomoko, Kwan and Emiko geared up, with Akira fitted with handcuffs. His sword was in Kwan’s possession, as he was loaded into the van filled with supplies. Jae Eun, who was picking greens with Esther, approached Jun and asked “Please don’t be gone long” Jun smiled and kissed her, replying “If all goes well, I won’t be. See you two soon!” he waved at his family and climbed in the van’s passenger side seat. ======================================== It started raining as the van drove to the location Akira provided, a large agricultural research building near the city. Jun looked at Kwan in the driver’s side seat and pointed towards a road sign, causing Kwan to turn right. Meanwhile, Ronin asked Akira “So really, how did you know we weren’t going to outright kill you? You made a huge choice giving away your home location to us after all” Akira smirked. “I always have been a good judge of people’s character. After everything happened, I started being distrustful to everyone, even my family, in fear they would remove me as another mouth to feed. If I may be honest…I have been watching your people come and go through this part of the countryside for the past week” Ronin’s eyes widened as he adjusted his grip. “You’ve…been watching us? WHY?!” Akira noticed Ronin’s anger and calmly explained “We needed food. We figured if you were good people we could arrange a meeting, and maybe initiate trade. I honestly meant nothing by my stalking beside that” Emiko remarked “So why steal the mattresses again?” Akira smiled and answered “Because we needed them. Also, I wanted to see if you’d chase me…” Suddenly the van stopped and Jun exclaimed “We’re here!” Jun, Akira, Ronin and Tomoko exited the van and saw a sea of walkers, thousands upon thousands surrounding a building in the countryside. “Well shit. They weren’t lying when they mentioned a few walkers weren’t they?” Ronin commented. “Akira” Jun demanded “Just how the hell do you expect us to draw them away? That herd is too large!” Tomoko was looking the other way when she saw something. “Jun, over there…it looks like an old limestone mine…Its pretty deep, and the shaft must extend deep into the earth. Maybe we could lure them there, close them up inside the mine and clean up the stragglers?” Jun frowned. “And how are we to lure them there? If we fire our guns we would have the heard scatter. We need to lure them ALL there somehow” Akira remarked excitedly “The mine carts…we could put a radio in a couple of them, and then send them deep into the mine. Several carts would mean we could still keep luring more of them even if the other carts are gone. Most of the mines have both an electric pulley system and a manual one. Or perhaps a counter weight could be used to send the cart down into the mines?” Jun nodded at the idea. “Then that is what we are doing. Kwan, we need you to go back home and get Shinsuke and four or five old battery powered radios. Make sure they play CDS. HURRY!” Jun and his group headed down to the quarry, finding a large mineshaft leading deep into the mountain. Inside the foreman’s office Ronin found a backup generator, which he soon connected to the pulley system. Meanwhile, the carts were found in working shape, as the group cleared the path for the walkers. A single large stone tumbled down the quarry, landing with a loud THUD. Emiko, who was watching the heard from a tree commented over the radio “That didn’t get their attention. But I will promise the acoustics of this place will make those radios even louder” Ronin ran up to Jun and handed him a remote. “This is connected to the speaker system. We pipe the music through here, and that will attract every walker in a five mile radius” The van with Kwan and Shinsuke arrived, and both the men carried out a handful of radios. “I hope your plan” grunted Shinsuke “works, because I wanted this radio” Kwan grinned and remarked “We can also find you another. Each radio has a rock CD inside, with the batteries loaded. We are ready to go” They put the radios inside every two mine carts and prepped the speakers, loading the loudest rock and roll CD they could find in the radio used as the main control deck. Ronin radioed “Okay we are hot! Akira and I will stay here to oversee the operation. Get out before the herd traps you inside!” The group ran to the van, ducking inside and as soon as the coast was clear, Ronin hit the red play button, and then, after hooking everything up properly, pressed the overhead speaker key. The brash music blared loudly enough to make Ronin and Akira’s ears throb in pain, even as they plugged their ear canals. The sound was deafening echoing throughout the area as if a rock concert was playing nearby. Emiko watched with stunned awe as the walkers turned their heads and began to head towards the noise, radioing to Jun “They heard that alright! They are heading to the quarry as we speak!” The herd of walkers slowly lumbered to the quarry a half mile away, creating a black mass on the now brown grassy field. The group watched as the music being piped through the speakers lured the herd like the siren’s call, causing the first couple hundred walkers to plummet into the quarry, tumbling down the rocky embankment. As soon as around 90% of the herd was in the quarry, making the white ground black as if a ceramic bowl was filled with coal water, Ronin pressed another button, sending the carts into the mine. The walkers soon funneled into the shaft as the carts slowly went deeper and deeper into the earth, the dead enveloped in darkness as they wandered into the dusty, deathly silent hollows. Jun watched with complete awe, remarking “Holy shit that’s working…the herd is going into the mine!” Akira waved at Ronin and wrote on a piece of paper “Give it another ten minutes…we want only a few stragglers left behind” Ronin nodded, and cranked the music down a bit, now seeing the walkers had pretty much stopped tumbling into the quarry. The last cart went down, luring the last couple hundred walkers into the mine, while Ronin and Akira ran down, pulling out a thick metal peg from both sides of the shaft exit, causing a thick metal door to come slamming down, sealing the mine from the outside. Ronin shut off the music and looked at the twenty or so walkers wandering around the quarry floor. Ronin and Akira were back to back, as they began to kill the walkers, with Ronin tossing Akira his sword. Akira’s blade was shimmering as it sliced and cut through any walker in his path, while Ronin used a suppressed rifle to gun down the walkers on his side. Eventually, one walker remained, which Ronin impaled on a spike, although its head was still intact. “Keep this one alive. If it is killed we will know someone has been in this area” he said, as Akira wiped off his sword. Akira smiled, and remarked lightly “I cannot believe that worked. We should inform your leader of the plan’s success. I would like to go talk to my people back at the research building with your permission” Ronin shook his head “That’s not my call. Jun and Kwan have to okay that” They walked to the van and Jun happily hugged Ronin, while Akira radioed his people. “So on a one to ten scale how deaf are you now?” Jun joked, with Ronin replying laughingly “Deaf enough to not hear your shit kid. That plan was amazing” Jun nodded, noticing Emiko running towards them, a large grin spread across her face. “I would like” Akira implored “to go check on my people. With your permission, since I am at your mercy” Jun nodded, and they climbed in the van, driving to the agriculture building. They arrived to find the four friends of Akira’s wandering around, stunned with the mass exodus they witnessed. One of them, a handsome looking man with his hair tied back in a ponytail and his facial hair neatly trimmed approached Akira and yelped “Holy shit man! The herd just left! And what was that music we heard?” Akira laughed and replied “I’ll explain later. Ando, these are the people who saved your lives” Ando bowed at Jun and his group, exclaiming “We thank you for what you did…we were looking for seeds to grow crops, when we attracted the herd from the nearby cities. Akira, we lost Oruchi to the herd…” Akira hung his head and remarked soberly “Well, at least she died amongst friends…Ando here is my brother, and Oruchi was a valued member of our settlement” Kwan remarked “We’re sorry about your loss…” Shinsuke added “So did you find what you were looking for?” And perked up and held up a bag of seed. Akira grinned from ear to ear and joyfully proclaimed “Well damn that’s awesome!” Jun stepped forward. “Listen, there is a storm brewing to the east. Maybe you all can come with us and stay at our place for the night. In the morning we can take you home, and maybe begin trade negotiations” Ando nodded, remarking matter-of-factly “Our food supplies have begun to dwindle, meaning that if you can help us with our situation, we would be greatly appreciative. Besides, Miss Miyamoto, our leader, might not be the most trusting person, but at this point I think she realizes we have no choice” ============================================= That night Akira and Ando’s group of four settled into the small apartment reserved for guests, with a guard standing outside their door. Sensei Shoji in the meantime was holding a small meeting between Ronin, Jun, Shinji and Kwan. “If what he says is true” Kwan said hesitantly “then we must be ready for whatever they have planned for us when we arrive” Jun nodded, with Ronin remarking to everyone’s shock “I don’t think Akira is going to pull a stunt. He could have killed us or done worse when he was watching us those past weeks. Sure it was for his benefit, but come on, the guy exudes honesty. Besides, my gut never lies” Shinji was sitting alone, deep in thought, before being mentioned by Shoji “Shinji, you have been silent. What troubles you?” Shinji straightened his posture and commented “The world is new now. Now everything we used to know is gone, and we have new communities popping up. Even after the end, life still finds a way” Ronin scoffed “Waxing philosophical huh? That doesn’t REALLY help our decision man” Shinji stood and leaned over the table “It does. These people are trying to survive, like we are, and this is our first encounter with a peaceful community, excluding the Shinda. We can form an alliance, and our swatch of territory is then made larger. We can rebuild society again, maybe not like some such as the JOC wanted, but in a better way” Shoji grumbled happily. “I enjoy seeing optimism in this conversation. Personally, I think Akira and his people are worth trusting. We will give them a chance…but Jun, Ronin…if they are not on the level, and you sense that they might be planning something hostile, you have my permission to slaughter them” Shinji gawked at Shoji and yelped “What the hell? Aren’t you all for peace?” Shoji nodded, and then held up a single finger. “I am, but Jun and his group made an impression on me: if we are to live, sometimes we must deprive others of their lives. Of course that is a worst case situation, but still, better safe than sorry” ================================================= In the guest quarters, Ando, sleeping in the bed next to Akira whispered “So you trust them?” Akira grunted, muttering “They haven’t killed us so far, and hey, they even fed us. Free food is ALWAYS a good sign” One of the other 2 surviving members, a young girl named Yukida remarked “They drew the herd away at the risk of their own lives. That’s a good sign if I ever saw one” Another girl with dyed blonde hair named Kasuka added “They could have simply left us and killed Akira. I think the actions they displayed should be trusted as genuine” Ando grunted irritably and complained “We would have never gotten in this position if Miss Miyamoto never sent us on that run. Waste of time and Oruchi’s life” Akira shot out of bed and hissed angrily “WE needed those seeds to FEED OUR PEOPLE! Don’t be so negative all the time. Besides, we are still in one piece at the moment” Ando rolled over and murmured “I hope you are right” =============================================== The next morning, the van was once again loaded with supplies, with another car in front as a scouting vehicle. Jun, Ronin, Shinsuke, Kasune, Tomoko, Kwan and Kuma geared up while their guests climbed inside the back of the truck. Jun noticed Fujita, Sensei Shoji’s son walking towards them, dressed in fine clothing and armed with a knife. “Kid, where are you going?” Ronin demanded, with Fujita exclaiming proudly “I am going to come with, acting as my father’s representative. Better to have an actual Shoji there, don’t you think?” Jun shook his head, and said “Look, this is way different than a run. You could end up getting shot or worse if things go south” “WHICH THEY WON’T” Akira loudly added. Fujita pursed his lips. “I am going Masumoto, with or without your consent. Now please, let me get in the car” Jun stood aside, allow the kid to climb in the back seat of the red and silver car. Sensei Shoji approached Jun and remarked “He means well. Remember our agreement from last night…anything happens and you know what to do. But if things go smoothly, give them the supplies we packed in the boxes. Good luck, and please come back with good news” Jun smiled, noticing Shinji and Sung-Min gearing up for a quick supply run at the same time. Shinji ran up to Jun and huffed “Looks like you will have all the fun man. Save some for me at least” Jun jokingly quipped “Don’t be so busy and maybe you would have fun. Take care of yourselves, and hey, if you find anything resembling American made chips, let me know” Shinji grinned and playfully saluted his old friend, meeting up with Sung-Min and heading out the gate. Jun climbed into the driver’s seat of the car and started it, the vehicle rumbling to life. Akira in the sea next to his, and Fujita and Kwan in the backseat, readied themselves as they pulled out of the utility garage and drove out of the Garden’s gates, waving at a cheerful Shinji and Sung-Min, as they went to visit Akira’s home. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: Shinji and Sung-Min’s journey is wrought with strife, resulting in bloodshed.

NEW CAST: Lee Gyeom- Kim Dong Chan (actor)
Summary: Shinji and Sung-Min’s journey is wrought with strife, resulting in bloodshed.
EPISODE 413 – Memoirs of Ruin
Shinji and Sung-Min arrived at the Torii gate, taking a left that would direct them to a city directly south of Akita, a huge city near the shore. They bypassed a sizeable herd and came across a former refugee camp, used to house infected people. Sung-Min sniffed “Looks like the JSDF left without so much as a goodbye. Nothing left here-” They then came across rows upon rows of dead corpses, all shot in the head execution style. “God…the soldiers must have been trying to contain the spread of the infection” Shinji noted, covering his mouth. A single walker approached them, wearing military clothing now covered in mildew and dirt. Sung-Min shot the walker in the head and searched the corpse, finding nothing of use save for a pair of field glasses. Shinji went inside a small building, finding nothing useful. He then looked at the staircase leading up to the second floor. The floorboards dripped blood, making thick, black puddles on the floor. “God…I don’t even want to know what’s upstairs” Shinji grumbled, as Sung-Min climbed up the stairs. The second floor was empty, save for a single table and a chair. The white walls were painted with blood, as Sung-Min looked under the table, finding a gutted man rotting there, as if he was torn apart on purpose. “Shinji, we should leave” Sung-Min loudly announced, with Shinji shouting “I agree. There is nothing here for us to use” In the vehicle garage, all the vehicles were gone, likely from the soldiers evacuating the facility long ago. The only useful thing they found was an errant 9mm pistol clip lying under a box. Shinji and Sung-Min looked at the map before them, with Sung-Min pointing out “These buildings here are still untouched by Hua-Ji and his scouts, so we could search them” Shinji shook his head. “No, because that takes us too close to Akita, and that place is a deathtrap in waiting. Better we secure the areas outside the city first” Sung-Min frowned “You don’t think raiders haven’t scoured those supplies already? We were lucky to find a single clip of ammo. We have to be careful if we are going to scavenge through the city, otherwise who knows what will happen” They arrived at the outskirts of Akito, the skyscrapers that once gleamed chrome and grey now black from the fire that consumed the city. Rows upon rows of cars lined the street, with only the sound of crows screeching overhead breaking up the deafening silence. Sung-Min reached inside a car and pulled out a hunting knife, which he tied to his waist. Shinji squinted and overlooked the highway, finding only a handful of the dead wandering through the maze of cars. “I only see a few walkers…even if we make a noise, we won’t have too much to worry about concerning them” Sung-Min made his way through the lines of cars, noticing some had scorched paint and melted interiors. “Jesus they napalmed the cars to prevent the people from leaving” Shinji muttered, with Sung-Min overlooking a small crater a short distance away. “Must have hit a natural gas plant. Poor bastards didn’t even know what hit them as soon as it blew” They continued walking, finding one car loaded with supplies, including a blued snub nosed revolver. “Guy must have been a cop prepping for the worst” Shinji exclaimed as he rifled through the supplies, finding tons of canned, bagged and boxed food all still intact. Sung-Min scouted ahead, finding a corpse of a woman lying against her car, the doors having been broken into and had the supplies she was carrying stolen. Sung-Min took a deep breath and went back to Shinji, loading up a shopping cart he found alongside the road with the food and supplies. “Shinji, I need to be honest with you…I don’t feel comfortable getting supplies from these cars. It feels like I am robbing a graveyard” Shinji wiped his forehead and remarked “You aren’t wrong, but think of it this way: they are dead, yes, but these supplies can keep us ALIVE. Maybe this is robbing a graveyard, but we have to do unpleasant things to survive now” His Korean friend turned and saw the road leading to the woods that led to The Garden now far off in the distance. “I don’t like how far we are from home…especially now that we are in the city limits. God only knows we will attract a herd and have that to deal with” Shinji pulled out a machete and an ice axe, remarking “Don’t worry the nearest herd is deep in the city. And we won’t go there” They then heard gunshots coming from a nearby highway exit, noticing a large group of Chinese militia members gunning down walkers that were in their way and checking over the cars. “Damn, they must be scouring the vehicles for anything they can use like we are” hissed Sung-Min as he ducked under a car, while Shinji snuck over to join his friend. “What do we do now?” He asked, as the Chinese searched every car and their leader shouted orders, pointing in their general direction. As the two snuck away from the ever approaching Chinese, they then heard the Chinese leader shout something in Mandarin. A flurry of bullets flew past over Shinji and Sung-Min’s heads, and they looked up to see Korean raiders, dressed in ragged army clothing shooting at the Chinese. One Korean grabbed Sung-Min and shouted to him in Korean “*Here! Kill those bastards!*” Sung-Min gawked for a moment and yelped “*What about the dead? They will hear us!*” the other Korean snarled “*Screw them! We need to wipe these pricks away first!*” Shinji was pulled to the side by one Korean and asked “*Whats your name?*” Sung-Min answered for him “*He’s mute. But his name is Oh Sing Won*” the other Korean chuckled and handed him a rifle, noting his sword “*Nice Katana man! Maybe I can get one like that from these Chinese shits*” Sung-Min hid behind a concrete block and gunned down one Chinese soldier, while Shinji shot at another, the Koreans laughing and killing any Chinese they saw. One Korean, a thin man with a mangy beard screamed “*SHIT! The dead are coming to check out the spat! Let’s bug the hell out!*” The group ran away from the scene while the Chinese battled the large group of walkers now approaching them due to the noise they name. ===================================== Sensei Shoji knocked on Dr. Moon’s room, with Ga-In answering. “Sensei! What can I do for you?” Shoji smiled and asked “I was wondering, did Shinji and Sung-Min radio in already?” Dr. Moon shook her head, replying “NO not yet. Fujita and Emiko will let you know if they do” Shoji nodded and commented “They might be busy. So I will give them another 2 hours” As soon as Shoji closed the door, Dr. Moon muttered “I hope they last that long, Sensei…for all our sakes” =============================================== The Korean group ran to a small gas station, where the leader extended a hand “*Good /anyways?*” Sung-Min replied coolly “*Looking for food and supplies basically” The Korean leader nodded and then asked “*So whose command are you under?” Sung-Min cricked his neck “*What do you mean?” The leader’s smiled faded slightly as he replied “*I meant, whose command are you following? Cho Yun’s, or Byun Yim’s?” Sung-Min shook his head. “*Neither…we are here looking for fortune and supplies. We are not trying to get in anyone’s way I promise” The leader patted Sung-Min on the shoulder and joked “Better you two being Korean’s than Japanese dogs or Chinese assholes. Now, let’s eat before it gets dark” They arrived at a small encampment occupied by eight more Koreans, all armed to the teeth as the other seven Koreans sat down. The leader gestured to the rest of his group and exclaimed grandly “This, my new friends is the remaining members of the 73rd battalion. We scraped ourselves together and made our way here. Turns out, however the damn Chinese had the same idea. Bastards…” Sung-Min nodded, biting into a piece of marinated pork, when the leader sat up suddenly “OH, my mistake, Lee Gyeom, Captain Lee Gyeom. I assume Sung-Min, you were an officer?” Sung-Min shook his head. “I was a private…I never wanted to be an officer. I didn’t want the responsibility. My friend here was a private too before he lost his voice” Gyeom handed the two a bottle of beer and remarked “Well, if you don’t object, we will sleep here for the night. Don’t worry, we have plenty of can lined wire surrounding the perimeter, so any dead shits touch the fence we will know in an instant” Shinji awoke to relieve himself around the crack of dawn, hearing the sounds of birds and chirping as he unzipped his fly before hearing the sounds of twigs and coming from the foliage nearby. He ran back to the group and shook Sung-Min, the Korean sleepily grunting in Korean “What? What’s going on?” Shinji opened his mouth to speak, but saw the other Koreans waking up, and pointed to the bushes. Before they could react bullets flew, striking three of the Koreans before they could react. Gyeom grabbed his rifle and began to fire with reckless abandon at the Chinese soldiers attacking. Shinji drew Kuroi and sliced the arm off one Chinese combatant before following the attack up with a cut to the neck, killing him. Another soldier raised his rifle and shot at Shinji, hitting him in the shoulder. Sung-Min saw this and shot the man in the head, before running over to help Shinji. Gyeon helped Sung-Min pick up Shinji and shouted “BACK UP! Head to the river and outrun these assholes!!” The other Koreans ran from the fight, with another five Koreans getting shot to pieces and left for the dead to finish. The Chinese stopped chasing the men, with one shouting in Mandarin “Don’t! General Chang wants us to meet back at the base. Let the dead finish them off” ============================= Sung-Min and Gyeom stopped, huffing and panting as Shinji and the 6 remaining Korean soldiers soon plopping to the ground from running. “Where the hell did they come from?” one soldier demanded, while another lamented “We lost all our shit back there! Goddammit!” Shinji felt blood oozing from his wound and quickly tied a bandage on the hole, while another Korean poured alcohol on the opening. The pain was instant, and Shinji almost screamed but instead bit his tongue, while the Korean finished binding his wound. “So…” Gyeom drew out slowly “Now where do we go? This part of the countryside was heavily firebombed and destroyed by the JSDF. Few if any supplies will remain” Sung-Min pointed to an army truck and grinned “We might find something there” They then saw two Chinese soldiers exit the truck, with Gyeom gunning them both down. “Can’t take risks” he muttered, stabbing both of them in the head after looting their corpses. Shinji grunted in pain, with one Korean remarking “I thought you were mute?” Sung-Min snapped to attention and quickly blurted “He doesn’t like to talk due to trauma. He isn’t totally mute” The soldier frowned and handed him a bottle of Soju. “Drink it. It will warm you” As they began to search the truck Shinji whispered to his friend “How long are we going to keep playing along? They probably radioed us by now. I say we run for it” Sung-Min shook his head, replying softly “We leave now they suspect something. I am going to kill them in their sleep, so we can sneak away and not get shot in the face” Shinji was horrified and hissed “Murder them?! Good god Sung-Min, what the hell?” Sung-Min leaned in very closely and replied “Better they die than us. And who knows when and where they will get tired of us and shoot us. Better to end the problem now, than have it stab us in the back later” Gyeom approached the two and said almost apologetically “Hey listen…I wanted to say I’m sorry for dragging you two in this mess in the first place. You obviously want to live your own lives, and we should not have conscripted you” Sung-Min was thoroughly confused, asking him “Where did this come from?” Gyeom shrugged. “I used to think all Koreans were united, even when there used to be two countries that used to be one. But, everyone has to live their own lives. So I will offer you two this: Join us, or go on your own path” Sung-Min squinted at the leader, noticing the other Koreans quietly surrounding them. “And you won’t kill us and rob us?” Gyeom shook his head. “You guys kicked Chinese ass and fought back. I think that deserves you two a pass. If we see you again, we won’t shoot at you, promise” Sung-Min smiled and extended a hand, which Gyeom took. “Thanks…well, I guess we should say good luck to you all” They left the Koreans and walked for about two hours, finding their knapsack being rifled through by a Chinese soldier, the radio barking “Sung-Min, Shinji, are either of you there?” The soldier tuned into the station, and waved to another soldier walked up, listening to the broadcast. Sung-Min raised his rifle and picked them off, with Shinji killing another that hid behind a car. “Fujita, this is Sung-Min. Shinji is wounded, but we are alright…we got preoccupied” Fujita on the other end replied worriedly “Alright then. Where are you now?” Shinji answered through the pain “About a mile away from Akita. We should arrive back by nightfall” Fujita radioed back after a slight pause “Copy that. We will keep the lights on for you here. Fujita out” Shinji noticed the sun overhead and commented irritably “I really hope the weather doesn’t get any more cold than it has been already. Goddamn weather is going to be the death of us” They arrived back at the highway, finding the streets filled with the dead, bustling about and feeding on the corpses of the dead Chinese soldiers. “I guess that counts us out of looting more from the highway” Shinji muttered cynically, while Sung-Min bit his lip, frustrated with what had happened over the past day. That evening as they were heading home they heard several gunshots and screams coming from a nearby house, prompting them to run to investigate the cause. They cut down a few walkers in their path and found Gyeom and his men holding down a Chinese soldier, with a woman and child next to him. “Gyeom…who are these people?” Sung-Min asked, with Gyeom cheerfully replying “OH hey, you’re back! These rats we found trying to escape the city. Must have holed up there during the fall, and now decided to go out and see if anything is left. Doesn’t matter” he kicked the man and wiped his nose “because soon these three will be dead, but not before we have some mileage out of them” One of the Koreans began to tear the clothes off the wife, while the husband begged the Koreans in Mandarin to stop. The child was picked up and punched in the stomach, causing Shinji to shake in anger. Sung-Min bleated “This isn’t needed! Just kill them and move on!” Gyeom grinned “Oh we will, but you don’t know how thirsty we are. This is our right” The wife was thrown to the ground, with a Korean stomping on her back to keep her down as they laughed at her suffering. Shinji finally had enough and screamed “STOP! LET THEM GO!” Sung-Min closed his eyes as one of the soldiers yelped angrily “Hey! I thought you were mute! What the hell….HE’S JAPANESE! GET THIS DOG!” They forced him to his knees, with Gyeom handing Sung-Min a pistol. “I am betting this dog deceived you. A fellow Korean brother would never be so stupid as to ally himself with a Jap. Kill this asshole” Sung-Min lowered the gun to Shinji’s face, with Shinji giving him a single light wink. Sung-Min twitched his lip, and then in English screamed “NOW!” Shinji ducked as Sung-Min shot the Korean holding his friend in the head, with Shinji slicing off the leg of Gyeom. The man fell, clutching his stump while screaming in agony. Sung-Min shot another Korean, while Shinji beheaded another. The last two Koreans shot the woman and then raised their rifles to shoot their enemies, only to have one shot by the Chinese soldier. The final Korean as cut along his side, forcing him to the ground and was soon finished off with Kuroi sliding in his temple. Shinji put his boot on the head of the Korean and pulled the sword out. Gyeom angrily screamed “YOU ARE A TRAITOR TO KOREA YOU BASTARD! I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!” He reached for his pistol, only to have a thin pipe shunted in his chest, pinning him to the ground. “The pipe won’t kill you…but the walkers will…” Sung-Min muttered as the four of them escaped from the house. The walkers surrounded the screaming Gyeom and tore into him, ripping off swatches of flesh and tearing out his innards, coating the moldy carpeting in blood. The four of them arrived at a clearing, where the Chinese father picked up his daughter, handing Sung-Min a Walther P38 pistol. Sung-Min took the pistol and nodded. The Chinese father handed Shinji a note, written in crude Japanese that said “Thank you for help. Until we meet again. ~Zhou” Shinji shook Zhou’s hand, as the father and daughter duo left, the forest enveloping them in darkness. Sung-Min holstered the pistol, and Shinji remarked “We should take the supplies we have and go home. I think this trip has been too much for me” Sung-Min nodded and said “I rejected Kasune back home, and I regret it. I need to get over Akiko, but I can’t…and this journey made me realize I can’t keep killing like this” Shinji remarked “I killed people too. It’s something we have to learn to accept now, as much I hate to do so” They found a truck used by the Koreans and hopped in, starting it and pulling out from the side of the road. “Shinji, let’s go home…” Sung-min said tiredly, with the later nodding as he took off down the road, leading back home. ======================================================================== On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: Jun and his group arrive ay Akira’s home, finding out more than they bargained for in the process

Summary: Jun and his group arrive ay Akira’s home, finding out more than they bargained for in the process.
Episode 414 – Peace in our time
The car arrived at the crossroads first, with the truck pulling up behind it. Jun turned to Akira and asked “So what is this home of yours called?” Akira looked out the window and answered “We call it Station 62. It used to be an old military supply camp, before the world ended. We found it and fortified it, making it a very secure base of operations. It only needs crops and a new actuator on the windmill to make it truly livable” Kwan looked at Akira and inquired “So how did you all live for this long without crops?” “MREs and rations were plentiful. We raided a medical college and cleaned out their medical supplies, so now we are swimming in those but starving in general” Fujita smiled and commented hopefully “Well, if all goes to plan we can fix those issues” They arrived at a clearing, with a steep mountainside jutting from the earth. A tall, thick barbed wire fence enclosed the perimeter, which consisted of 3 small buildings and a few tents to the main building’s side, a tall windmill in the center of the place. The fence was broken up by a single guard tower, occupied by a single guard manning a bolted on machine gun. Jun, Kwan, Fujita and Akira stepped out of the car and immediately guards from the main gate shouted “DROP YOUR WEAPONS! WE WILL SHOOT YOU!” Akira jumped in front and shouted back to them “HEY! These are the people who saved our lives! Open the damn door Katagiri!” Katagiri, a tall man with a beard shook his head. “Where are the others Akira? Were they killed, or are they being held captive?” Kwan whispered to Jun jokingly “Jesus, I wonder how they treat the mail carrier around here?” Akira exclaimed “They are in the truck behind me. Look, I am not being held against my will, so just open the damn door already before the dead start to get nosey. Don’t make me tell your wife you have been overly paranoid again, okay?” The door opened, and the group all stepped out of the truck, walking into the base. Several guards armed with military grade and hunting rifles roamed the perimeter, with Akira and Ando approaching an older man dressed in Military clothing, his hiead covereed. “Mister Kobayashi, these are the people who rescued my people from the walker herd at the feed research building. They are interested in creating a trading relationship with us. Our medical supplies in exchange for food during the winter” Kobayashi stroked his small beard and grumbled to himself. “I am not the one to make that decision. Take their leader to Miss Nakajima, she will discuss this in detail” Jun, Kwan, Fujita, Ando and Akira walked in the main building, the inside now converted into a living space for ten people, with beds lined against the wall and curtains separating the beds, creating small rooms. The main office had a single table, with a chair behind it, a file drawer and a chest in the corner. An older woman whose attractive features still remained was checking over paperwork, when she saw the four enter the room. “Take a seat, all of you, I will be with you in a moment” She continued to pour over the papers, while Jun politely coughed. “Excuse me ma’am, but what are you looking at?” Miss Nakajima didn’t look up and responded “Importation logs. I need to make sure we have enough to keep us alive, and if we are even one bottle of water short, we might end up dead” she threw down the paperwork and put on a pair of thick glasses. Jun gasped, “You are the wife of the former Prime Minster!!” Miss Nakajima smiled slightly “Yes, I was. I am shocked a youth such as yourself paid attention to politics. Tell me, are you a conservative, or a liberal?” Jun frowned “I hardly see what that had to do with our negotiations, Miss Nakajima. With all due respect” Miss Nakajima shot him a look of annoyance and irritably remarked “I asked that to gage your personality. By being coy, you are making my yay or nay harder to decide on” Kwan spoke up “I think what Jun means, is he doesn’t want politics to get in the way of our possible friendship. The old meanings are no longer relevant, wouldn’t you agree?” Miss Nakajima sighed and replied “I suppose not. Better we agree on the now, and not the what used to be. Now, I am sure Akira here filled you in on our current crisis: our food reserves are now dangerously thin, and our attempts to grow crops all resulted in failure, mostly due to the planting season having passed by a month ago. We have enough rations here to feed us for another two days, three tops if we stretch them out. We have plenty of medical supplies, including medicine, tools and whatever an infirmary needs. We will give you 10% of our supplies, in exchange for 20% of your food” Fujita raised a hand. “Excuse me, but 25%? Isn’t that a bit of an unfair trade?” Miss Nakajima raised an eyebrow. “I believe it to be completely fair actually. You are supporting a group of what, 20 people? 30 at most?” Jun retorted “More like 100 plus, actually. You have around 15-20 people, and giving up a quarter of our food every 2 weeks is completely unreasonable. Still…you do need food, and since scavenging has become harder and harder for most people, food will be a top priority. Still, we are more than willing to LEAVE, if you want-” Miss Nakajima stood up and begged “PLEASE! We need food…we are living off of crackers and water at this point…please, we will do whatever we need to in order to keep ourselves alive. We were not prepared for this world…the JSDF began to napalm the city when we were stuck in a subway tunnel. We came out days later, only to find the city on fire and crawling with corpses. We found this place and made it our own. Now…now we are going to starve to death unless you help us” Jun leaned back and remarked strongly “5% of your supplies NOW, and another next week. We have food in the truck that will keep your people fed for two weeks. We will keep you alive during the winter, and then we will help you grow crops to live off of. After that we can have a friendly relationship IF you are game for that. Your people need to live, and we have what you need. So you have to admit, I am in the dominant bargaining position. So I would suggest you take our offer…Miss” Akira smirked to himself, and Miss Nakajima rested her head on her hands, before finally groaning “FINE. We will gratefully accept the provisions you brought. Ando, please gather 5% of the medical supplies, including medicine and bandages” Jun and Fujita smiled, with the latter extending a hand to Miss Nakajima, who took it and shook the hand with detest. “I am all for alliances, but at this point we are being used” Akira replied comfortingly “Don’t look at it like that. Besides, it’s better than starving to death” ============================================ Meanwhile, Shinsuke and Kasune walked around the base, with a guard named Musashi following them closely. “I am not one to complain” Kasune began “But I just feel like Sung-Min rejected me because of my past” Shinsuke raised an eyebrow “What did you used to do? Strip?” Kasune shrugged “You are half right. I was a sugar baby for a powerful Yakuza warlord, and that made me do a lot of things I am not proud of, including stripping and pleasing many men…sometimes at once” Shinsuke’s eyes widened “DAMN. So what happened?” Kasune smiled, replying “Ronin happened. I was his father’s plaything and I was away when he was killed. I never felt freer than when I heard the news. I became a model and escort when needed…I felt as if I wasn’t human” Shinsuke looked at his feet “I don’t think any less of you, Kasune. I’ll be honest, if I had met you in my past life I would have tossed a wad at you and asked for favors, but now, in this situation we are in, and becoming a good friend of yours, I feel like you deserve a good man” Kasune grinned and ran her hand down his cheek. “You are rough, but sweet. I think that was a genuine emotion from you just then. Sung-Min is a good man, but he still has his heart in another direction. I know he cared about Akiko, as did I. I lost a special person on the Shinda too, and I still think about her every night. We don’t become hollow when our friends die, we just try to find another person to make us feel again” Shinsuke patted Kasune on the shoulder and remarked “I am happy to have met Kwan and Dr. Hwang, since they are the only family I have at this moment. Hell, even the damn mute Kuma is like a family member” Kuma, who had heard this shot him a look and grunted “Thanks…I think” Kasune laughed and watched as Jun and his group left the main building. Tomoko approached him and inquired “So do we have a deal?” Fujita nodded, and Akira chimed in “Food in exchange for medicine and supplies. Once a month we will make a delivery, and once they will. But there is a catch…” Shinsuke frowned “What exactly is the catch?” Jun replied “One of us will stay here, and one of the Station 62 people will live at the Garden. Each person will act as a representative for their original home, making diplomatic agreements easier, and allowing each side to know each other better. Now, we need to make a vote as to who will-” “I will stay here” Kasune volunteered “I can be that person. I don’t mind Jun, really” Jun nodded, with Miss Nakajima smiling and extending a hand to her. “I would like” Ando offered “to be the person who stays with Jun and his people. If they are cool with that that is” Fujita nodded and said “I am the son of the leader there, and I will allow it. No offense Jun” Shinsuke reached in his pocket and handed Kasune a small coin purse. “Take this…this was my last paycheck’s remaining amount. I want you to have it” Kasune smiled and handed him a folding fan and a letter “The fan is for you…the letter is for Sung-Min when you see him next. I’ll miss you Sinsuke…pro wrestler” As Shinsuke turned, Kasune added “Shinsuke… I did watch you perform once in Kyoto…you won” Shinsuke fought back the tears and remarked “Thanks… that means a lot to me” Kasune smiled and waved to him, remarking “See you later…Ultimate wrestler” They dropped off the food, and Ando climbed in the back of the truck with the box that held his few possessions. Akira took Ando by the arm and bowed, murmuring “Take care of yourself brother” Ando smiled, and returned “You too man. Tell mom I said goodbye” Akira waved at his brother, with Kasune at his side, as the truck and car pulled out, only to stop after a moment. Jun looked through the windshield and saw a small group of Koreans approaching the vehicles. He stepped out and drew his revolver, with the leader of the Koreans stopping. He held up a hand and the other Koreans stopped as well. “What do you want Japanese dog? We are very busy if you don’t mind” The leader asked in near perfect Japanese. “We know you are heading towards the Station ahead. We cannot allow you to do that, but there is always room for negotiations” The leader, named Bo Yung, laughed at the comment and replied “Oh really?! Well hot damn you are a bold one. I admire that to be frank, so I will give you this chance right now: step aside and let us do what we wanted to do and we will let you live, I swear” Kwan inquired “And let me guess, you are going to kill us if we say no?” Bo Yun nodded. “So you see, there are only 2 ways this can end. I would, if I may, suggest you pick the former. Not that I care, but the former means less dead to deal with afterwards” Jun tilted his head and out came Shinsuke, Kuma, Fujita, Tomoko and Ando, all armed to the teeth. “I count” Jun pointed out “eight soldiers with you. That’s ONE more than we have. Now I am going to make this suggestion: drop your guns, and run as far away as you can, before we slaughter you shitheads. I am perfectly fine with killing you all, but I would, as you said, prefer to not have the dead swarm us. So if you do want to end this in bloodshed, I would suggest we all use knives or whatever can bash heads in better” Bo Yun shifted his weight, clearly knowing he was too equally matched in this fight. “You make a great case friend. But keep in mind this: we will come back, and we will not be as forgiving as we are now. So for now, you win this time” he turned, and then remarked “Actually, eight is all you SEE. I am going to be honest…you are outnumbered by 2 now, so get ready to make amends asshole” He raised a hand and threw it down, a sharp hiss filling the silence. A body tumbled out of the tree nearby, landing with a hard thud on the ground. “Well…looks like our sniper got yours” Jun said, as Ronin in the other tree racked another shot. He aimed his rifle and fired, striking the Korean next to Bo Yun. Bo Yun snarled and raised his pistol, a bullet smashing his face to a bloody pulp as Jun promptly shot him with a suppressed 1911. Kwan, Kuma and Shinsuke raised their suppressed their rifles and fired. Several more hisses sounded off, all resulting in each Korean being hit as they raised their rifles. Finally, only three Koreans remained, with their rifles firmly lowered. Jun walked up to them and asked “So will you leave them alone?” which Kwan translated. One Korean, whose face was tattooed, replied in Korean which Kwan translated as “I guess we don’t have any choice. You are a shrewd son of a bitch, and hope you get shot…but for new we leave” The three ran, leaving the dead bodies of their comrades on the road. Jun waved at Ronin, who climbed down the tree and ran up to his friend. “Dumb prick’s scope reflected too much light…gave away his position within seconds” Ando remarked “I am surprised you are as comfortable with killing as you are. I suppose killing is the only way to keep alive now, especially in this new world” Jun cricked his neck “Well, it would have ended in bloodshed no matter what. Peace in our time is a thing of the past” Ronin was looting the body of the Korean sniper, shouldering the Dragunov SVD rifle when he picked up the wallet the man was still carrying. He walked over and handed the wallet to Kwan. “Know this guy?” he asked, with Kwan grimly replying “Yeah…he was a Private last I saw him, stationed at the DMZ. God…how did he end up like this I wonder” Jun pulled him aside and said comfortingly “We aren’t set on pre-determined paths…you won’t end up like that man, I promise you that” They arrived home, greeted by a worried Sensei Shoji and Jae Eun. Jun and Ronin stepped out of the car and approached the duo, with Jun reporting in: “We had successful negotiations with the Station leader, and came to a trade agreement. We now have a source for medical supplies” Jae Eun looked over Jun’s shoulder, a puzzled look on her face. “Wait, where is Kasune? Did she…?” Shinsuke stepped forward, a depressed demeanor being displayed by his face. “She stayed behind, and Ando here will live here. Fujita okayed the choice, Sensei….” He turned away, with Kuma going after him. Kum pulled Shinsuke aside, asking “You okay?” The wrestler hid a tear and replied “I lost my friend, so no” Kuma turned his head, replying “She isn’t dead” “I know that, but all that talk about Sung-Min…he would be a lucky man if he were to have the same feeling towards her like she had for him…” Kuma put an arm around him, and replied softly “Next time you see her, tell her how you feel” Shinsuke sniffed and remarked “That’s the most I have ever heard you speak…hot damn” They then shared a laugh. Jun looked around and asked “So where the hell is Shinji and Sung-Min? They should have been back hours ago?” Shoji furrowed his brows and replied heavily “We last heard from them 6 hours ago…We were about to radio them again, asking for an update” Suddenly a man ran forward shouting “SENSEI! Shinji and Sung-Min’s radio frequency was tuned in! We can radio them!” Jun and Tomoko ran to the radio tower and dialed in the frequency, with Jun hailing “Shinji, Sung-Min, this is Jun do you read me? Come in, Shinji or Sung-Min, either one of you please respond right now!” The radio on the other end remained silent, until a low voice answered in fluent Japanese “If you want them alive, you will tell us where you are, before we kill these two…for their sake, I hope you consider” Jun looked at a stunned Tomoko and Sensei Shoji, asking the voice “Who am I talking to? Are Shinji and Sung-Min alive?” There was another brief silence before the voice again answered “For now. If they don’t give us your location, or if you don’t instead, they will both die…but first, let’s have a chat, shall we?” -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the next episode of The Walking Dead Japan: The group attempts to find Shinji and Sung-Min, who have been taken.
