All of the focus has been on the return of what many of us believe to be some hybrid form of Terminus era Carol.
But what of King Zeke? What might his role be in tonight's episode? Does something happen to propel him into aligning himself with Rick? And the "something" that happens, does it happen because Zeke did not see early enough that his agreement with the Saviors was at its breaking point? And is it guilt, revenge or the combination of the two that sends him walking across that line in the sand?
So many questions, so many questions

The previews showed Zeke holding a gun. Maybe Morgan's student dies.

My heart ached for Zeke tonight.
The son of one of his fallen warriors died tonight. Probably a young man that Ezekiel felt a great deal of responsibility for. And now we see in the last moments of the episode that he has taken Benjamin's little brother under his wing.
The crown is heavy, even if the crown is simply a facade. Ezekiel has worked so hard to keep his community, his people, in this blissful bubble of survivor happiness. For the most part his community has been kept from knowing how tenuous their peaceful existence has been up to this point. And now in the blink of an eye all of that is about to change.

Ugh yes, it was heartbreaking to watch Ezekiel see Ben die...and even Richard, only because it was such a sad wakeup call for him. His little fantasy world was shattered. There's something I really, really like about Ezekiel. He's peaceful but not in an over the top annoying way like Morgan. He still has this heir of bad-ass underneath all of that poetic language. Even though he's created this fantasy life of a King, I think it's also very much based in reality and he isn't naive like the Alexandrians were when they were first discovered. Not to mention I find him really attractive, but that's besides the point. Those eyes! Those teeth! Get some of that, Carol.

I hope those two deaths activate Zeke, but for some reason I still see Carol doing the motivational blah blah the next time they're on.

I think he will totally be on board. What he witnessed with Ben and then Richard....all of this was enough to get him motivated. Especially now that he is caring for Ben's little brother. Ben's death should not be in vain....as bad and unnecessary as it was.
